Depressive, anxiety symptoms and their co-occurrence among women seeking antenatal care in Bangladesh

Md Hafizur Rahman, Ridwana Maher Manna, Nasimul Ghani Usmani et al.

Abstract Anxiety and depression are significant concerns among antenatal women in Bangladesh. Despite the critical need for tailored mental health care in health facilities, studies on these symptoms in this demographic remain lacking. Therefore, our study aimed to assess the levels, distribution, and associated factors of depressive and anxiety symptoms and their co-occurrence among women seeking antenatal care at a public healthcare facility in Bangladesh. We conducted a cross-sectional study between May 2024, and June 2024, among women seeking antenatal care (ANC) care in Durgapur Upazila Health Complex, a primary-level public health facility in Bangladesh. Among 640 women who received ANC care, 638 participated in the study. Depressive symptoms were assessed by the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), and anxiety symptoms were assessed by the Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7). Bivariate and multivariable logistic regression were conducted to determine factors contributing to depressive and anxiety symptoms. About 39% of participants had depressive symptoms and 50% had anxiety symptoms, with 26% experiencing both simultaneously. No participants had severe overall depressive or anxiety symptoms. PHQ-9 data indicated half experienced daily fatigue, while GAD-7 data showed over half experienced daily nervousness and two-fifths had daily fears. Women in the second and third trimesters had 43% (aOR: 0.57, 95% CI: 0.36–0.89) and 58% (aOR: 0.42, 95% CI: 0.24–0.71) lower odds of depressive symptoms compared to those in the first trimester respectively. Women with 11 years or more education had 40% (aOR: 0.60, 95% CI: 0.38–0.94) lower odds of anxiety. Additionally, women in the second and third trimesters had 40% (aOR: 0.60, 95% CI: 0.37–0.97) and 49% (aOR: 0.59, 95% CI: 0.29–0.91) lower likelihood of co-occurrence compared to those in the first trimester and women with 6–10 years of education had 48% (aOR: 0.52, 95% CI: 0.34–0.79) and those with 11 or more years had 52% (aOR: 0.48, 95% CI: 0.29–0.81) lower likelihood of co-occurring depressive and anxiety symptoms compared to women with 5 years or less education. Our study found a high prevalence of depressive and anxiety symptoms among antenatal care seekers, with notable co-occurrence of these conditions. Given these findings, there is an urgent need for targeted mental health support for these women, especially those in their first trimester and those with limited education.

Learning Object Placement Programs for Indoor Scene Synthesis with Iterative Self Training

Adrian Chang, Kai Wang, Yuanbo Li et al.

Data driven and autoregressive indoor scene synthesis systems generate indoor scenes automatically by suggesting and then placing objects one at a time. Empirical observations show that current systems tend to produce incomplete next object location distributions. We introduce a system which addresses this problem. We design a Domain Specific Language (DSL) that specifies functional constraints. Programs from our language take as input a partial scene and object to place. Upon execution they predict possible object placements. We design a generative model which writes these programs automatically. Available 3D scene datasets do not contain programs to train on, so we build upon previous work in unsupervised program induction to introduce a new program bootstrapping algorithm. In order to quantify our empirical observations we introduce a new evaluation procedure which captures how well a system models per-object location distributions. We ask human annotators to label all the possible places an object can go in a scene and show that our system produces per-object location distributions more consistent with human annotators. Our system also generates indoor scenes of comparable quality to previous systems and while previous systems degrade in performance when training data is sparse, our system does not degrade to the same degree.

PRODUK CENDERAMATA BERBASIS BENTUK IKONIK KOTA MEDAN MENGGUNAKAN BAHAN TEPUNG CLAY

Rosnani CS, Zulkifli Zulkifli

The city of Medan as the center of government as well as the capital of North Sumatra has an iconic shape that can be developed into three-dimensional souvenir products, such as the shape of historic buildings, past transportation, typical food, and also traditional clothing. However, the iconic forms of the city of Medan are still under-explored to be developed as a reference for three-dimensional souvenir products. This creation aims to examine the potential of the iconic forms of the city of Medan that can be developed as a reference for three-dimensional souvenir products using clay flour. The creation method used refers to Graham Wallas' theory of creativity, where the creation process starts from preparation, incubation, illumination and verification. The results of the creation in the form of souvenir products made from clay are five, each work entitled clay post office, clay water tower, clay bentor Medan, clay mie gomak, and clay malay wedding couple doll. Overall, the results of the creation show that the iconic shapes of the city of Medan have great potential to be used as references in the creation of clay souvenir products that are original, have aesthetic qualities, and are exclusive as tourism souvenirs. Keywords: iconic shapes, souvenir products, clay. Authors:Rosnani CS : Universitas Negeri MedanZulkifli : Universitas Negeri Medan References:Bangun, N. An analytic BRDF for materials with spherical Lambertian scatterers

Eugene d'Eon

We present a new analytic BRDF for porous materials comprised of spherical Lambertian scatterers. The BRDF has a single parameter: the albedo of the Lambertian particles. The resulting appearance exhibits strong back scattering and saturation effects that height-field-based models such as Oren-Nayar cannot reproduce.

O(lgN) Line Clipping Algorithm in E2

Vaclav Skala

A new O(lg N) line clipping algorithm in E2 against a convex window is presented. The main advantage of the presented algorithm is the principal acceleration of the line clipping problem solution. A comparison of the proposed algorithm with others shows a significant improvement in run-time. Experimental results for selected known algorithms are also shown.

Barycentric Coordinates as Interpolants

Russell A. Brown

Barycentric coordinates are frequently used as interpolants to shade computer graphics images. A simple equation transforms barycentric coordinates from screen space into eye space in order to undo the perspective transformation and permit accurate interpolative shading of texture maps. This technique is amenable to computation using a block-normalized integer representation.

Modelación y Visualización Tridimensional Interactiva de Variables Eléctricas en Celdas de Electro-Obtención con Electrodos Bipolares

César Mena, Ricardo Sánchez, Lautaro Salazar

The use of floating bipolar electrodes in copper electro-winning cells represents an emerging technology that promises economic and operational impacts. This article presents a computational tool designed for the simulation and analysis of these electrochemical systems. Based on the generalization and optimization of an existing 2D finite difference model for calculating electrical variables in rectangular cells, a new 3D model capable of processing complex geometries, not necessarily rectangular, has been developed. At the same time, a new analytical method for estimating potentials in floating electrodes is introduced, overcoming the inaccuracies of previous heuristic approaches. The analysis of the results is supported by an interactive visualization technique of three-dimensional vector fields as flow lines.

Aplicación Gráfica para el estudio de un Modelo de Celda Electrolítica usando Técnicas de Visualización de Campos Vectoriales

César Mena

The use of floating bipolar electrodes in copper electro-winning cells represents an emerging technology that promises economic and operational impacts. This thesis presents EWCellCAD, a computational tool designed for the simulation and analysis of these electrochemical systems. Based on the generalization and optimization of an existing 2D finite difference model for calculating electrical variables in rectangular cells, EWCellCAD implements a new 3D model capable of processing complex geometries, not necessarily rectangular, which also accelerates calculations by several orders of magnitude. At the same time, a new analytical method for estimating potentials in floating electrodes is introduced, overcoming the inaccuracies of previous heuristic approaches. The analysis of the results is supported by an interactive visualization technique of three-dimensional vector fields as flow lines.
