Aforismi e scritture brevi in una prospettiva stilistico-cognitiva
Alberto Casadei

The Derridean Gaze of the “Wholly Other” in Stephen King’s “Rat”
Keith Moser
Building upon the rich theoretical framework that Derrida conceives in his posthumous environmental reflections and the interdiscipline of biosemiotics, this essay delves into the ethical questions posed by Stephen King related to other-than-human sentience, suffering, and subjecthood in “Rat.” Derrida and King generate thought-provoking portrayals of what happens when we are confronted with the gaze of the “wholly other.” When the other-than-human gaze falls upon us, Derrida and King insist that we cannot disregard the ethical summons that accompanies it. This transformative gaze compels us to think and live otherwise. The limitrophic reflection actuated by the other-than-human gaze eliminates the sharp ontological gap between humans and other animals. Owing to the strength of these encounters with other-than-human alterity, species boundaries erected on the shaky foundation of binary logic become unclear and unstable. The epiphany that the biosphere is replete with other semiotic agents that are capable of conceiving, transmitting, and decoding signs further erodes the pervasive doctrine of human exceptionalism.

The Elephant in the Room
Valentina Romanzi
This essay investigates the conflictual and oppressive relationship between humans and animals in the context of late capitalism in ‘western/ized’ societies and how speculative fiction can imagine and inspire alternative ways for interspecies coexistence. It focuses especially on the representation of animal labor, i.e. the way animals are involved in the contemporary production system. The essay takes Brooke Bolander’s 2018 novella The Only Harmless Great Thing as a case study, analyzing it through the lens of Achille Mbembe’s necropolitics (2003), and arguing that the author provides an attempt at ‘necropolitical and post-necropolitical imagination’ that, despite not always being successful, shows how to envision an alternative future without straying too far from the present.

Cloni in rivolta.

Jean-Michel Adam
Connecting literary discourse analysis, rhetoric, and argumentation theory, this study focuses on a “childhood memory” of Albert Cohen that reappears in four autobiographical texts and three interviews. The different occurrences of this episode of the insults uttered on his tenth birthday by an anti-Semitic street vendor are interesting for what is repeated from one occurrence to another, but above all for what varies. Extending the study by Claire Stolz of the story published in La France libre, in 1945, I insist here on the epideictic rhetoric that runs through its resumption in the review Esprit, in September 1945, and on the judicial and deliberative dimension of Ô vous, frères humains (1972), and Carnets 1978. The analysis of racist insults highlights the way in which epideictic blame crosses the perverted use of speech that characterizes the eloquence of the street vendor.

Sol Montero
The aim of this article is to reflect on the discursive operations involved, in the public space, to name the events of the past, in this case the Argentine military dictatorship. The article deals with analyzing the emergence and circulation of a particular historical name (which coexist with other names, more or less official), that of “tragedy of the 1970s”, in a corpus of editorials and opinion pieces as well as a set of popular historical works. We identify four representations associated with this name: a double movement of referencing and chronological indetermination; a standardization of victims and an erasure of agency and responsibilities; an image of the dictatorial past as a “gaping wound” to be sutured into the present; a characterization of the period as terrifying and bloody.

Monologue references in Maqamat al-Zamakhshari
Basim Suleiman
In the studies, I clarified the cultural references within the language of internal dialogue - the monologue - that used shrines of Zamakhshari and the composition of the research plan of a boot devoted to clarifying the concept of reference, monologue, biography of Zamakhshari, and three sections . The first topic was studied the religious reference, and the second on historical reference and in the third topic, the literary and grammatical reference was studied, as well as the function and importance of dialogue through cultural references . One of the most prominent results of the research is that the monologue is based on three references: the religious, historical, literary and linguistic reference, which expressed the capacity of the writer's culture in various sciences such as religion, language, literature and performances, and the various technical levels within the references such as rhythm, rhetoric and composition appeared, and the language of dialogue was clear and free of stranger and used the style of appeal and interrogation, as this style of dialogue was appeared in Arabic literature before its appearance in the literature of the world .

V-III A.C.)
Juan Luis Conde Calvo, David Sevillano López, Ziqiao Meng
The authors of this paper translate from Classical Chinese and comment on various texts that are intended to illustrate the relationship between the theory and practice of persuasive discourse during the Warring
States period (5th to 3rd centuries BC). The texts come from two different works: Zhanguoce, a compilation of pre-Qin documents made by Liu Xiang in the Han period (late 1st century BC), and Lüshi Chunqiu, an
encyclopedic collection undertaken under the instructions of Lü Buwei, Qin State Minister, in the 3rd century BC. The political suasoria (shuì) has the counselor and the king as protagonists par excellence. In the anecdotes that provide concrete examples of the rhetorical exercitatio, an approach decidedly marked by the unequal power relations between both of them is observed, where dialogue dominates on monologue. Under such conditions, the persuader develops an indirect strategy that, disdaining any virtuosity of elocution, tries first and foremost not to challenge the expectations of his one-person audience.

Realismo letterario e realismo filosofico. Per il chiarimento di un equivoco
Pino Menzio
The philosophical movement known as “New Realism” is based on assumptions which are alien, if not plainly hostile, to literature. Therefore it has little to share with literary realism, which on the contrary is effectively explained and supported by Hermeneutics, i.e. by the frequent polemic target of New Realism.

In Emanuele Trevi’s work it is possible to trace an initiatory theory of literature, conceiving the literary text both as vector of transformation for the reader and as a repository of initiatic culture, providing access to the hidden truths of existence. The text appears as one of the last, if not the last, container of this primordial wisdom: central in the ancient society and religion, today such great code substantially seems to be lost. Trevi’s fellows are historians of religion (Schuré, Corbin, Eliade), narrators (Apuelio, Melville, Collodi, Woolf, Joyce), protagonists of trips (Artaud), philosophers and critics (Agamben, Zolla, Citati, Calasso, C. Campo). Trevi’s theory apparently moves beyond the perimeter of literature, recovering an anthropological di- mension of symbolic expression that also features, in a narrow hermeneutical circle, music and painting. Thus literature draws near to an experience of apprenticeship and a sacred rite.

“…and you could hear the whole village chattering” I Malavoglia as figuralized novel
Paolo Giovannetti
The essay explains Giovanni Verga’s Malavoglia according to the narrative theory of Franz Karl Stanzel, arguing that the novel provides an example of the figural narrative situation. The figuralization (or reflectorization) of Malavoglia is achieved mainly by the so-called (the definition is Ann Banfield’s ) non-reflective consciousness, that is, by the perceptive interplay of characters, independent of the intervention of an actual narrator. Such a methodological point of view implies a revision of some typological features of modernist novel, which has been too often interpreted only through texts of the “northern” Flaubert-James-Joyce-Woolf line.

Form as Social Commitment: The art of Giovanni Anselmo during the Anni di Piombo
Elizabeth Mangini
In April 1968, concurrent with the early stages of the student movement in Europe, the young Arte Povera artist Giovanni Anselmo installed his first solo exhibition at a Turin gallery. The sculptures shown there were not static objects, but rather demonstrations of invisible concepts like relativity. What emerged in Anselmo‘s first solo show and developed over the ensuing decade was a tactical resistance to the crystallization of his works into a single image or static object. This paper argues that this approach was also central to a critical understanding of the roles of the artist and the viewer during a time of great political foment in Italy and throughout Europe. I explore the relationship of Anselmo‘s sculptural interests to the currency of phenomenology in Northern Italy, the theorization of Arte Povera, in which he figures as a central protagonist, as well as to the socio-political challenges of the 1970s in Italy. Between 1967 and 1978, Anselmo endeavored to reveal tense fullness in empty spaces and to discover latent energy in seemingly inert materials by activating the viewer‘s ability to recognize them as small indications of a dynamic macrocosm. In the context of 1968 and the ensuing Anni di piombo, such macrocosmic glimpses might occasion a broadened worldview, in which the closed perceptual dialectic of self versus world could expand to include other, previously invisible, possibilities. From this expanded point of view prompted by Anselmo‘s presentation of energies, one can begin to understand, and even undermine, man-made ‗invisible‘ systems like government and class. By doing this through the form of the work rather than its explicit content, Anselmo models the notion of an artist using form as social commitment. This mode of working has resonance for many artists today, who may struggle with reconciling their material practices with political allegiances in an increasingly co-opted art market.
