Exploring Consumer Preferences and Decision-Making Processes in the Indian General Insurance Market

Susmin James, S. Kavitha

In this study, we have analysed the determinants of consumer insurance premium expenditures in India using regional variation in insurance market characteristics, as well as demographic and economic influences. This finding, that of the significant geographic differences in spending behaviors, suggests important implications for the effects of local economic conditions and possibly cultural attitudes on insurance choices, which is supported by the findings of rough statistical significance from ANOVA and regression results. So descriptive statistics give us an average spending of ₹40,000 with a decent dispersion, and the distribution is also well behaved around this mean, revealing that different consumers spend differently. Likewise, age and income significantly influence spending on life insurance premiums, as older individuals and those with higher income spend more on such products both now and six months from now. The results of this research provide valuable indicators for insurance providers, underlining the need to adapt offerings and marketing approaches according to the regional or demographic groups they are intended for. It increases the consumer behavior knowledge within the insurance industry and lays a solid foundation for strategic decisions and further research efforts.

Krzewiciel kultu Andrzeja Boboli. Rzymska podróż księdza Ignacego Hrebnickiego w latach 1788-1790

Adam Kucharski

LEADERSHIP – O COMPETIȚIE PENTRU A INFLUENȚA ȘI A SCHIMBA SOCIETĂȚILE CONTEMPORANE

ZUBENSCHI, MARIANA

In the context of European identity, leaders often become symbols of movements for social change, and the promise of change takes a central place in election campaigns and political rhetoric. Although the discussion of leadership is less present in social psychology in the context of social change, understanding the intersection between leadership and social change can bring new and useful perspectives. The processes of social influence and leadership are fundamental for understanding the transformation at both the individual and societal levels. Leaders not only represent our collective identity, but also help us define our shared future. Social change is, thus, a collective initiative that involves mobilizing around a shared identity and vision for the future. Identity change and societal change are interdependent processes, and a deeper understanding of these processes can provide new insights into how and to what extent we can influence the direction of our society. In this article we will explore several findings that show that shared social identity is a source influenced by both collective and individual factors. It is crucial to analyze from the perspective of tripolar relations of “influence and social change”, which involves a competition between sources of influence and a public mobilized for change. This approach opens up new lines of research in both fields and helps us understand why certain views of change are more appealing than others. Together, these ideas provide a new perspective for understanding the interplay between identity, social influence, and changing social relationships.

Una oración hebrea de alabanza general

Néstor Véliz Catalán

In this article an approach is developed, from the structural analysis and the analysis of the religious imaginary of the Pérek Shirá or "Song of Creation." One of the main emphases is to reveal its mood and structure, as well as the main themes ofits six chapters or subdivisions. Likewise, it is about finding the way in which the praise that the editor or editors systematized in their text, correspond to a general trend in the context of the Tefilah or Hebrew prayers. Following withan analytical orientation, we seek to find the way in which prayer, as discourse, reveals a pantheistic orientation orof recognition of the ubiquity of the Divine presence, which leads to verifying whether it has parallels with other traditions, such as the Franciscan, with the "Song to Brother Sun" or "Song of the Creatures" or the gratitude that David reflects in the Psalm 148 among his other creations. Finally, it is established as a relevant comprehensive aspect to establish differences between the Hebrew Tefilah and Christian prayers, which leads to delving into the profound meaning underlying the lines of the Perek Shirá

Long-Term Symptoms After Concussion: To Find Meaning in Life Through Art When Your Head Is “on Fire”

Mette Ryssel Bystrup, Anders Essom-Stenz, Hana Malá Rytter

Background: Persistent post-concussive symptoms (PPCS) create new life conditions with their invisible, long-term, and encompassing consequences. This can threaten the affected person’s well-being and challenge their identity. Purpose: To explore the valuable aspects of art creation during neurorehabilitation of PPCS. Methods: A qualitative single-case design encompassing an interview with a young girl with PPCS who used art in her process of neurorehabilitation. A phenomenological method was combined with a narrative approach to analyze the expressions. Findings: Engaging in art creation was experienced as valuable in different ways: art functioned as a traveling companion in the formation of a new self, as a communication tool, as a haven for psychological relief and as a restorative activity. We discuss the decisive role of social network relations for identity (re)construction and avoidance of social isolation as well as the importance of including the inside perspective of the patient in increasing their autonomy. Originality/value: Art as a communication form within PPCS is to a large extent unexplored. Conclusion: This paper sheds light on the positive aspects of art creation and suggests using art as a complementary approach to traditional medical methods to help injured individuals construct new narratives.

The effect of Urf (common law) on family laws in Islamic Jurisprudence

Soheila Rostami , Wrya Hafidi , Mehrangiz Roustaie

Common law as something accepted by the rule of wisdom found in the very self of humans formed the earliest type of the legal systems of societies. In most of the legal systems of the world, common law is known as one of the most important resources and is of high significance. Most of the Islamic jurisprudents agree on the authority of common law as an independent or dependent reason or proof. In this regard, the jurisprudents have referred to reasons of the Book (Holy Quran), the Tradition (Sunna), and wisdom. Family laws are included as the most potential fields for the common law to play a significant role in updating the rules and placing them in the right path of recognizing the required components. Thus, by applying a descriptive-analytical method, the present study attempts at studying the function of common law in laws related to the family through investigating the nature, range of inclusion, and legitimacy of common law among the jurisprudents of different Islamic schools and sects as well as studying the opponents’ reasons for its documentary authority

OER Initiatives at Liberal Arts Colleges: Building Support at Three Small, Private Institutions

Caitlin A. Schleicher, Christopher A. Barnes, Ronald A. Joslin

INTRODUCTION Liberal arts colleges (LAC) are arguably ideal environments for the use of open educational resources (OER) given their shared emphasis on innovative pedagogy and individualized learning. However, library-led OER initiatives at LAC have just started to make progress. LAC librarians have very few models or sources of advice to which they can turn when planning OER initiatives suitable to their particular institutional context. DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAMS In this article, librarians describe their experience promoting and supporting OER usage at three small, private LAC, each at a different stage in developing formal programs to assist faculty interested in adopting and creating OER. The authors discuss strategies employed, obstacles encountered, and lessons learned, providing practical advice for achieving OER success in the LAC environment. NEXT STEPS The authors believe practical advice for the LAC context will benefit librarians at various stages of OER program implementation.

High-Stakes Assessment in Music

G. Nierman

The idea of high-stakes assessment in schools could be said to have begun with the publication of A Nation at Risk (1983). The position taken in this chapter is that music and the arts are basic subjects needed for a well-rounded education that require high-stakes assessment at every grade level. The chapter does not endorse high-stakes assessment in the sense of a single assessment that results in loss of opportunities and failure, but in the more general sense that there are major consequences to society for children not being able to think creatively, to solve problems collaboratively, and to understand themselves as human beings—all skills that an education in music and the arts provide. The chapter is written in a position paper/statement format that includes four segments to support the position statement—introduction, opposing views, supporting views, and a plan for implementation of the position.

Genomic Region Containing Toll-Like Receptor Genes Has a Major Impact on Total IgM Antibodies Including KLH-Binding IgM Natural Antibodies in Chickens

T. Berghof, M. Visker, J. Arts et al.

Natural antibodies (NAb) are antigen binding antibodies present in individuals without a previous exposure to this antigen. Keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH)-binding NAb levels were previously associated with survival in chickens. This suggests that selective breeding for KLH-binding NAb may increase survival by means of improved general disease resistance. Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) were performed to identify genes underlying genetic variation in NAb levels. The studied population consisted of 1,628 adolescent layer chickens with observations for titers of KLH-binding NAb of the isotypes IgM, IgA, IgG, the total KLH-binding (IgT) NAb titers, total antibody concentrations of the isotypes IgM, IgA, IgG, and the total antibodies concentration in plasma. GWAS were performed using 57,636 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP). One chromosomal region on chromosome 4 was associated with KLH-binding IgT NAb, and total IgM concentration, and especially with KLH-binding IgM NAb. The region of interest was fine mapped by imputing the region of the study population to whole genome sequence, and subsequently performing an association study using the imputed sequence variants. 16 candidate genes were identified, of which FAM114A1, Toll-like receptor 1 family member B (TLR1B), TLR1A, Krüppel-like factor 3 (KLF3) showed the strongest associations. SNP located in coding regions of the candidate genes were checked for predicted changes in protein functioning. One SNP (at 69,965,939 base pairs) received the maximum impact score from two independent prediction tools, which makes this SNP the most likely causal variant. This SNP is located in TLR1A, which suggests a fundamental role of TLR1A on regulation of IgM levels (i.e., KLH-binding IgM NAb, and total IgM concentration), or B cells biology, or both. This study contributes to increased understanding of (genetic) regulation of KLH-binding NAb levels, and total antibody concentrations.
