Implementation and Simulation of a Dynamic Load Balancing Solution for EV Charge Points Utilizing Solar Energy

Szűcs István, Kopják József, Sebestyén Gergely

This paper addresses the integration of solar energy with electric vehicle charge points through a load management and distribution system. It proposes an algorithm that dynamically allocates available power, considering building consumption, electric vehicle charger needs, and real-time photovoltaic system output. The system ensures efficient power distribution and stability. Simulation results demonstrate the algorithm’s effectiveness in optimizing solar energy use, accommodating fluctuating power demands, and reducing costs, thus enhancing the sustainability and efficiency of EV charging infrastructure.

Viability of Metagonimus romanicus (Ciurea, 1915) metacercariae after physico-chemical treatments

Martina Gyöngy, Boglárka Sellyei, István Czeglédi et al.

Digenean (Heterophyidae) trematodes include several zoonotic species such as the genus Metagonimus (Katsurada, 1912). Metagonimus romanicus (Ciurea, 1915) is a species widely distributed in Europe, whose metacercariae can be found on cyprinoids from the River Danube in Hungary. The aim of the study was to measure the viability of Metagonimus romanicus metacercariae by physical (freezing, heating, desiccation) and chemical (acetic acid and NaCl solutions) treatments. The methods were chosen as a model for procedures commonly used in traditional food preservation (such as freezing, salting, pickling and smoking) to measure the survival rate of metacercariae under different conditions. Most physical treatments (freezing of metacercariae at −20 °C, keeping them at 40 °C and 60 °C and desiccation) and chemical treatments (2.5%, 5%, 10% acetic acid solution and 5% and 10% NaCl solution) killed the metacercariae in a relatively short time (from 30 min to 6 days depending on the treatment) so their effects eliminated the risk of zoonotic infection. On the other hand, the metacercariae survived at room temperature and at 4 °C up to one month. Therefore, storing unprepared fish in domestic refrigerators cannot prevent infection with metacercariae in humans.

The Influence of In Vitro Degradation on the Properties of Polylactic Acid Electrospun Fiber Mats

Kardo Khalid Abdullah, Kolos Molnár

The scope of our study was to investigate the changes in electrospun polylactic acid (PLA) fiber mats’ morphological, mechanical, and thermal properties in vitro. We electrospun two sets of PLA fiber mats with different average diameters, E6 (747 nm) and E10 (1263 nm). The degradation study of PLA electrospun fibers was carried out in phosphate-buffered saline solution at 37 °C to simulate conditions within the human system. The results reveal the thicker fibers (E10) degraded more rapidly than the E6 sample due to their different morphology. E10 showed a 29% reduction in diameter and a 41% weight loss, while E6 exhibited an 18% reduction in diameter and a 27.5% weight loss. E6’s Young’s modulus increased by 3.55 times, while E10’s rose by 2.23 times after 28 days of degradation, and the fibers became more rigid. E6 showed a more pronounced decrease in crystallinity compared with E10. Changes in electrospun fiber diameters and crystallinity greatly influence the degradation mechanism of PLA.

NEWER ASPECTS IN THE AGE-DEPENDING ALTERATION OF HORSE TEETHING

A. GÁSPÁRDY, ZSÓFIA SIMONYI, F. ESZES et al.

The authors give a short orientation about the age related parameters of incisors based on the literature. They tell about their own investigation of two conventional (cup depth and its yearly abrasion) and of two first applied (relative abrasion and area of dental table) parameters. The previous literature evaluated the parameters in question in two different ways: time period or frequency analysis. The authors introduced a new method: the linearly-corrected row data which is processed by analysis of variance. Their elaboration reaches altogether 107 individuals, three horse types (English Thoroughbred, English Half-breed and pony), and two genders (mare, stallion + gelding). The cup depth at the levelling is the shallowest in the ponies (2 mm), while it is deeper in the Half-breeds (5 mm) and in the Thoroughbreds (4.4 mm). This deviation can be explained by body size differences between breeds. The degree of the absolute and the relative abrasion of the cup can be associated with the early utilisation (racing) and with the intensive feeding (concentrate). The area of the dental table is the largest in the pony, and the smallest in the Thoroughbred. The reason for the slowest abrasion observed in the ponies can be explained not only by the more traditional feeding but also by the bigger occlusive surface. The authors assume that the selection for the early utilisation of the English Thoroughbred resulted in an automatic change of the well inherited chronology of dentition; more early matured animals producing, in relation to the chronology of dentition. In this breed the general refinement of the whole organism, but especially of the bone system manifests in the narrowing of the teeth also.

An implicit system of delay differential algebraic equations from hydrodynamics

Fanni Kádár, Gábor Stépán

Direct spring operated pressure relief valves connected to a constantly charged vessel and a downstream pipe have a complex dynamics. The vessel-valve subsystem is described with an autonomous system of ordinary differential equations, while the presence of the pipe adds two partial differential equations to the mathematical model. The partial differential equations are transformed to a delay algebraic equation coupled to the ordinary differential equations. Due to a square root nonlinearity, the system is implicit. The linearized system can be transformed to a standard system of neutral delay differential equations (NDDEs) having more elaborated literature than the delay algebraic equations. First, the different forms of the mathematical model are presented, then the transformation of the linearized system is conducted. The paper aims at introducing this unusual mathematical model of an engineering system and inducing research focusing on the methodology to carry out bifurcation analysis in implicit NDDEs.

Efficient Competitions and Online Learning with Strategic Forecasters

Rafael Frongillo, Robert Gomez, Anish Thilagar et al.

Winner-take-all competitions in forecasting and machine-learning suffer from distorted incentives. Witkowski et al. 2018 identified this problem and proposed ELF, a truthful mechanism to select a winner. We show that, from a pool of $n$ forecasters, ELF requires $Θ(n\log n)$ events or test data points to select a near-optimal forecaster with high probability. We then show that standard online learning algorithms select an $ε$-optimal forecaster using only $O(\log(n) / ε^2)$ events, by way of a strong approximate-truthfulness guarantee. This bound matches the best possible even in the nonstrategic setting. We then apply these mechanisms to obtain the first no-regret guarantee for non-myopic strategic experts.

Ariel: Enabling planetary science across light-years

Giovanna Tinetti, Paul Eccleston, Carole Haswell et al.

Ariel, the Atmospheric Remote-sensing Infrared Exoplanet Large-survey, was adopted as the fourth medium-class mission in ESA's Cosmic Vision programme to be launched in 2029. During its 4-year mission, Ariel will study what exoplanets are made of, how they formed and how they evolve, by surveying a diverse sample of about 1000 extrasolar planets, simultaneously in visible and infrared wavelengths. It is the first mission dedicated to measuring the chemical composition and thermal structures of hundreds of transiting exoplanets, enabling planetary science far beyond the boundaries of the Solar System. The payload consists of an off-axis Cassegrain telescope (primary mirror 1100 mm x 730 mm ellipse) and two separate instruments (FGS and AIRS) covering simultaneously 0.5-7.8 micron spectral range. The satellite is best placed into an L2 orbit to maximise the thermal stability and the field of regard. The payload module is passively cooled via a series of V-Groove radiators; the detectors for the AIRS are the only items that require active cooling via an active Ne JT cooler. The Ariel payload is developed by a consortium of more than 50 institutes from 16 ESA countries, which include the UK, France, Italy, Belgium, Poland, Spain, Austria, Denmark, Ireland, Portugal, Czech Republic, Hungary, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Estonia, and a NASA contribution.

Egymással a biztonságért

A TIBEK idén ünnepli megalakulásának ötödik évfordulóját. A szervezet az ötéves jubileumhoz az Egymással a biztonságért szlogent választotta mottójának. Ennek kapcsán kérdezte dr. Takács Tibor r. vezérőrnagyot, a TIBEK főigazgatóját dr. Dános Valér, a Belügyi Szemle főszerkesztője.
