Disruptive Solutions for Carbon Neutrality and Sustainable Development: Evidence From <scp>CS</scp>‐<scp>ARDL</scp> Approach

Sunil Tiwari, Arshian Sharif

ABSTRACTNet zero emission and attainment of SDG‐13 was the core agenda in COP 26, 27, and 28. In this regard, the present study measures the nexus between environmental policy stringency, renewable energy, green technology innovation, globalization, and carbon emissions. The CS‐ARDL model is utilized to study the said variables in G7 (Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States) nations. Results reveal that carbon emissions, renewable energy, environmental policy stringency, and globalization are positively associated with green technology innovation and strongly impact the development and implementation of green innovations in the long run, particularly by CO2 emission. Whereas in the short run, the aforementioned associations and impacts are weak and less impactful besides carbon emissions with green innovation. Overall findings show that green technology innovation is the powerful and most crucial tool for the reduction of carbon emissions and climate change impacts. Policy implications are suggested to attain the net zero emission and SDG‐13 in G7 nations through green innovation and its associated products, processes, and practices.

Web Content Analysis of <scp>CSR</scp> and <scp>CS</scp> Disclosures in Green Star‐Certified Hotels in Antalya

Ayse Himmetoglu

ABSTRACT This study investigates how corporate social responsibility (CSR) and corporate sustainability (CS) are communicated by Green Star‐certified hotels in Türkiye. A total of 162 five‐star hotels in Antalya were screened through their official websites. Among them, only 13 hotels, representing approximately 8% of the total, disclosed CSR and/or CS‐related information; therefore, the analysis is limited to these hotels. Using qualitative content analysis, disclosures were categorized into social, environmental, and economic dimensions. Findings reveal that environmental disclosures, particularly those related to waste and energy management, were most frequent, while economic disclosures were scarce. The study contributes to theory by extending ethical perspectives with legitimacy, institutional, stakeholder, and signaling frameworks. From a managerial perspective, the paper recommends adopting GRI‐aligned reporting templates, updating website content regularly, and standardizing disclosure of key social and community metrics. Limitations include the small sample size, reliance solely on web content, single time‐point analysis, restriction to Turkish data, and the absence of inter‐coder reliability.

Rohmawati, Rizka Safitri Lutfiyani, Mariana Windarti

One of the obstacles of elementary school learning process is there of material that cannot be directly observed by students. Childrens quickly get bored and not focus on materials like that. Science is one of the subject that has a lot of material that cannot be directly observed, example a global warning. Through learning media with visualization, it be expected that the material can be delivered well. There are four stages of this research, that is data requirenment, design, implementation and testing. The techniques used at the data requirenment stage are interviews and observations. Meanwhile, at the design stage, storyboards and other designs of this learning media were made. In the third stage, the previously created design is implemented by the Adobe Flash CS3 application. The final stage, the results of the design are examined by means of a questionnaire. The result of this research is a learning media made with lots of visuals so that students stay focused on the material. The suggestion of this research is that this research can be developed using a smartphone, android.

Semi-equilibrated global sea-level change projections for the next 10 000 years

Jonas Van Breedam, Heiko Goelzer, Philippe Huybrechts

Abstract. The emphasis for informing policy makers on future sea-level rise has been on projections by the end of the 21st century. However, due to the long lifetime of atmospheric CO2, the thermal inertia of the climate system and the slow equilibration of the ice sheets, global sea level will continue to rise on a multi-millennial timescale even when anthropogenic CO2 emissions cease completely during the coming decades to centuries. Here we present global sea-level change projections due to melting of land ice combined with steric sea effects during the next 10 000 years calculated in a fully interactive way with the Earth System Model of Intermediate Complexity LOVECLIMv1.3. The climate forcing is based on the Extended Concentration Pathways defined until 2300 AD with no carbon dioxide emissions thereafter and the inclusion of a methane-emission feedback for the highest forcing scenario, equivalent to a cumulative CO2 release of around 460 to 5800 GtC. After 10 000 years, the sea-level change rate drops below 0.05 m per century and a semi-equilibrated state is reached. The Greenland ice sheet is found to nearly disappear for all forcing scenarios. The Antarctic ice sheet contributes only about 1.6 m to sea level for the lowest forcing scenario with a limited retreat of the grounding line in West Antarctica. For the higher forcing scenarios, the marine basins of the East Antarctic ice sheet also become ice free, resulting in a sea-level rise of up to 27 m. The global mean sea-level change after 10 000 years ranges from 9.2 m to more than 37 m. The projections of multi-millennial semi-equilibrated sea-level rise for a given CO2 forcing are shown to be in good agreement with geological archives.

Last Interglacial climate and sea-level evolution from a coupled ice sheet-climate model

H. Goelzer, P. Huybrechts, M.-F. Loutre et al.

Abstract. As the most recent warm period in Earth’s history with a sea-level stand higher than present, the Last Interglacial period (~130 to 115 kyr BP) is often considered a prime example to study the impact of a warmer climate on the two polar ice sheets remaining today. Here we simulate the Last Interglacial climate, ice sheet and sea-level evolution with the Earth system model of intermediate complexity LOVECLIM v.1.3, which includes dynamic and fully-coupled components representing the atmosphere, the ocean and sea ice, the terrestrial biosphere and the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets. In this set-up, sea-level evolution and climate-ice sheet interactions are modelled in a consistent framework. Surface mass balance changes are the dominant forcing for the Greenland ice sheet, which shows a peak sea-level contribution of 1.4 m at 123 kyr BP in the reference experiment. Our results indicate that ice sheet-climate feedbacks play an important role to amplify climate and sea-level changes in the Northern Hemisphere. The sensitivity of the Greenland ice sheet to surface temperature changes considerably increases when interactive albedo changes are considered. Southern Hemisphere polar and sub-polar ocean warming is limited throughout the Last Interglacial and surface and sub-shelf melting exerts only a minor control on the Antarctic sea-level contribution with a peak of 4.4 m at 125 kyr BP. Retreat of the Antarctic ice sheet at the onset of the LIG is mainly forced by rising sea-level and reduced ice shelf viscosity as the surface temperature increases. Global sea level shows a peak of 5.3 m at 124.5 kyr BP, which includes a minor contribution of 0.35 m from oceanic thermal expansion. Neither the individual contributions nor the total modelled sea-level stand show multi millennial time scale variations as indicated by some reconstructions.

POWER RELATIONS IN CALISTUNG LEARNING IN TK/RA AND SD/MI CURRICULUM IN SOUTH KUTA DISTRICT

M. Mughni Juliantara

Reading, writing, arithmetic or what is abbreviated as calistung are basic skills that are often a problem for students. The practice in the field of calistung learning curriculum at the kindergarten and elementary school levels is out of sync. The calistung learning curriculum at the kindergarten level is not allowed to be taught directly, while the elementary school curriculum requires first graders to master calistung. This study aims to analyze the form of power relations in the calistung learning curriculum, reveal the factors behind power relations, as well as uncover and examine the impact of power relations in the calistung learning curriculum on kindergarten and elementary school students. This study uses a qualitative approach with interpretive descriptive-qualitative data analysis. The results showed: first, the form of power relations in calistung learning in the TK/RA and SD/MI curriculum was extracurricular and private calistung activities. Second, this power relation occurs against the background of several factors, namely the TK/RA 2013 curriculum and SD/MI 2013 curriculum, institutional policies, demands of guardians of students, community assessments, and acceptance of new elementary/MI students. Third, power relations in calistung learning have positive and negative impacts. The positive impact is that students become more confident in learning activities because they have mastered calistung. The negative impact is that students become depressed with lessons, lose playing time, untraceable mindsets, decrease interest in learning because they feel they have mastered, get angry easily when stressed with lessons, and decrease achievement. This condition is known as "mental hectic". The government must take firm action against institutions that violate the established curriculum. Institutions, educators and guardians of students must be wise in providing calistung material to children or students, calistung must be given according to the stages. Keywords: power relations, learning, calistung, curriculum

Brachiocephalic Artery Haemorrhage During Percutaneous Tracheostomy

SD Sharma, G Kumar, CS Hill et al.

Percutaneous tracheostomy was performed on a 69-year-old woman to facilitate weaning. Insertion of the size 7 tracheostomy tube resulted in profuse bleeding around the tracheostomy site. On inflation of the tracheostomy balloon, the bleeding stopped. Urgent computed tomography demonstrated the brachiocephalic artery was abnormally high and lying in an oblique fashion over the trachea, and the tracheostomy tube was displacing the trachea posteriorly. Surgical repair of the defect in the brachiocephalic artery was undertaken and a surgical tracheostomy was performed in theatre. This case raises important issues about the potential dangers of percutaneous tracheostomy in cases of abnormal anatomy. It also emphasises the importance of direct visualisation of the seeker needle using the endoscope. In cases where there is a suspicion of abnormal anatomy, it is safer to obtain preprocedural imaging or perform a surgical tracheostomy.

Sudden Death Caused by Embolization of Trophoblast from Hydatidiform Mole

SD Cohle, CS Petty

Abstract A 16-year-old pregnant female presented to a hospital emergency room with vaginal bleeding and uterine cramping. She underwent a hysterotomy and curettage and, during the procedure, her pulse dropped from 130 to 30 beats/minute, her pO2 fell to 10 mm of mercury, and she could not be resuscitated. At autopsy, she was found to have massive pulmonary embolization of syncytiotrophoblast from a hydatidiform mole of the uterus. This is the sixth reported case of trophoblastic embolization from a hydratidiform mole ending in death. This fatal termination may occur after a period of respiratory symptoms and may occur regardless of the mode of treatment.
