Patrologia, since the similar work published in Modern Greek at Athens, 1879, is incomplete, and now rarely to be met with. Not only does Dr. Hopfner analyse the contents of the patristic treatises themselves but he gives some account of the dissertations by Migne and his collaborators which precede them. We are still dependent on Migne for many of the authors not specially edited by others ; and a full index like the present one will help the student in any branch of Christian theology and cognate subjects to find his way about that stupendous undertaking. The volume of the Index before us contains over five hundred pages of closely-printed double columns, and by its format and freedom from misprints does great credit to the printers at Louvain. When completed the work will be a KTrjfua et? del; and we look forward to the fulfilment of the professor's laborious toil.

Treatment advances in Vitiligo: An Updated Review

Ishrat Binti Ismail, Yasmeen Jabeen Bhat, Mohd Shurjeel ul Islam

Introduction Vitiligo is a common disorder of depigmentation caused by the progressive destruction of melanocytes that affects the skin, hair, and mucous membranes, clinically presenting as depigmented macules and leukotrichia. This condition, affecting millions of people worldwide, has a significant psychosocial burden on patients’ quality of life, particularly in relation to skin colour. The etiopathogenesis of this disorder is obscure, but multiple factors contribute to the loss of melanocytes in the skin, like oxidative stress, inflammation, genetics, and autoimmunity. The treatment of vitiligo has been challenging over the past years, but recent developments in understanding the etiopathogenesis of the disease have paved the way for the development of more effective and promising therapeutic treatment options. Objective The aim of this review was to provide an overview of the underlying mechanisms and highlight the latest advances in the treatment of vitiligo. Methodology This review was performed according to PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Metanalyses) guidelines. EXPLORING Z GENERATION ATTITUDES TOWARD VARIETIES OF ENGLISH(ES)

Laela Rohadatul Aisy, Ribut Wahyudi

English, one of the most dominant languages, has undergone transformations and divergences that have created a variety of variations in different parts of the world. The fact is that English has more than 160 acknowledged variations of accents across the globe. Each variation from standard English to a distinctive local reflects its unique culture and history. This study aims to investigate Generation Z's attitudes towards variations of Englishes of their English as foreign language communication experiences. This research adopted qualitative research benefiting from Saraceni's (2010) Space, Culture, Ideology and Psychology (SCIP) model to understand variety of English(es). Four English literature students were selected as respondents when they were still in their 7th semester and aged 21-22 at an Islamic university (under Ministry of Religious Affairs) in East Java, Indonesia. The results revealed that the dominance of American English is still the benchmark in most participants' preferences. A number of competing and interconnected factors such as habits, motivations, and practices with the influence of family, social, educational, and environmental factors shape their preferences on English(es) varieties. The participants showed positive, contradictory attitudes (positive and negative) to negative attitude towards the varieties of Englishes.

Assessment of musical interventions and its effect on blood pressure among United States populations: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Shreya Meda, Joyce Gyamfi, Kahini Patel et al.

BackgroundHypertension (HTN) currently affects over 120 million Americans, in the United States (US). Thus, the implementation of evidence-based interventions (EBI) for blood pressure (BP) reduction is pivotal in minimizing this burden. We sought to evaluate evidence from published literature on the effectiveness of musical interventions for BP reduction within the US.MethodsA systematic review of studies that utilize music interventions to manage BP was conducted in October of 2022. An extensive search of several databases utilizing MeSH terms and relevant keywords was conducted for articles published through October 2022. An updated search was conducted in October 2023 to identify additional studies.Results2,381 studies were screened for title/abstract relevancy. 1,885 studies were deemed irrelevant, and 495 studies were examined for full-text review; of which 384 were excluded due to being non-US-based. Overall, 25 studies were found where BP was the primary outcome and discussed musical interventions within the US. Of the 25 studies, 72% reported a significant decrease in BP after the administration of a musical intervention and only 28% reported the race and ethnicity of participants.ConclusionThere are limited studies that examine the effect of music interventions on BP reduction in the US, as a primary outcome. However, based on the evidence, musical interventions are effective for BP reduction. Moreover, the studies that were conducted in the US include a low percentage of high-risk racial and ethnic minority populations. Future EBI should target this underserved/high-burden group to improve disparity gaps within BP reduction via non-pharmacological means. Revitalizing Communities: Proposing Mosque-Driven Circular Economy Empowerment Model

Lu'liyatul Mutmainah, Listia Andani, Ela Susilawati

The mosque has so far been known only as a place of worship such as prayer and recitation by Muslims. History records that during the time of the Prophet, the mosque was also the center of government, economic center, education center, and others. Some mosques are also tourist areas that provide more economic value so that they can improve people's welfare. However, tourist areas often cause problems related to waste, water use, and others. Understanding of the circular economy that can provide sustainable benefits is still not widely known and implemented, including for managing mosques. This study aims to analyze and propose an optimization model for mosque-based circular economic empowerment to achieve a sustainable economy. The research uses a qualitative approach with literature studies and in-depth interviews with related parties. The results of the study show that empowering mosques based on a circular economy will not only have a positive impact on places of worship but also the economic, social, and environmental sectors. For example, managed mosque waste can provide economic value. In addition, the use of ablution water can be reused for land irrigation and fish farming. The synergy between the government, universities, communities, and the industrial world can be carried out to implement this mosque-based circular economy. The results of this study can be used as a basis for recommendations and a pilot project for implementing mosque-based circular economic empowerment.

Discourse on Cultural Islam and Political Islam in the History of Indonesian Islam

Hairus Saleh

The dynamics of Cultural Islam and Political Islam still occur and are actual in people's lives today. Several Political Islam groups with their voices through Islamic parties want to make Islam the basis of ideology and Indonesia a religious state. Meanwhile, the Cultural Islam group with a missionary spirit that wants to establish Islam as life values that blend with culture and also anti-sectarianism rejects the idea of Political Islam. Cultural Islam holds the view that the implementation of Islamic teachings in the state does not have to be in the form of formal Islamic principles, but rather at the level of Islamic meaning and behavior in Muslim society. Cultural Islam is the middle point of the debate between political Islam and secular nationalists. This research, when viewed from the perspective of the data source, can be categorized as a literature review. If viewed from an analytical perspective, this research is considered qualitative research. Meanwhile, if we look at the purpose of conducting it, this research can be categorized as analytical descriptive research. This research aims to find out the extent of cultural Islamic discourse and political Islam in the history of Indonesian Islam.

Using fuzzy and machine learning iterative optimized models to generate the flood susceptibility maps: case study of Prahova River basin, Romania

Romulus Costache, Hazem Ghassan Abdo, Arun Pratap Mishra et al.

AbstractIn this work, the vulnerability to flooding in the Prahova River basin was calculated and analyzed using advanced methods and techniques. Thus, 2 hybrid models represented by Iterative Classifier Optimizer – Multiclass Alternating Decision Tree – Certainty Factor (ICO-LADT-CF) and Fuzzy-Analytical Hierarchy Process – Certainty Factor (FAHP-CF) were generated, which had as input data the values of 10 flood predictors and a number of 158 points where historical floods occurred. In the first step, the Certainty Factor values were calculated, which were then used in the Fuzzy-Analytical Hierarchy Process and Multiclass Alternating Decision Tree models. It should be mentioned that the Multiclass Alternating Decision Tree model was optimized with the help of the Iterative Classifier Optimizer. In the case of both ensemble models the slope angle was the most important flood conditioning factor. Moreover, according to Certainty Factor modelling the 8 classes/categories achieved the maximum value of 1. Next, the susceptibility to floods on the surface of the study area was derived. On average, about 20% of the study area has areas with high and medium susceptibility to flash floods. After evaluating the quality of the models through Receiver Operating Characteristics (ROC) Curve, the following results emerged: Success Rate for Flood Potential Index (FPI) Iterative Classifier Optimizer – Multiclass Alternating Decision Tree – Certainty Factor (ICO-LADT-CF) (Area Under Curve = 0.985) and Flood Potential Index (FPI) Fuzzy-Analytical Hierarchy Process – Certainty Factor (FAHP-CF) (Area Under Curve = 0.967); Prediction Rate for Flood Potential Index (FPI) Iterative Classifier Optimizer – Multiclass Alternating Decision Tree – Certainty Factor (ICO-LADT-CF) (Area Under Curve = 0.952) and Flood Potential Index Fuzzy-Analytical Hierarchy Process – Certainty Factor (FAHP-CF) (Area Under Curve = 0.913). At the same time, the accuracies of the models were: Training dataset − 0.943 (Iterative Classifier Optimizer – Multiclass Alternating Decision Tree – Certainty Factor) and 0.931 (Fuzzy-Analytical Hierarchy Process – Certainty Factor); Validating dataset − 0.935 (Iterative Classifier Optimizer – Multiclass Alternating Decision Tree – Certainty Factor) and 0.926 (Fuzzy-Analytical Hierarchy Process – Certainty Factor). As main conclusion, it can be mentioned that the 2 ensemble models outperform the previous machine learning models applied on the same study area before.

Simulation of Islamic Ceramics Using Different Firing Techniques

Mohamad El Gindy, Omar Abdel Aziz, Diaa Eldin Daoud

Ceramics is one of the most important artistic handcrafts that were known for Arab Artists since Islam appeared to life. The main reason of this was the role that ceramics played in fulfilling the idea of Islamic civilization on different sides. One of the most important reasons that helped in demonstrating Islamic ceramics was the fact that the main idea of Islam is to be humble, forgiving and unsophisticated, all of this contradicted previous lives of Arabs which were full of entertainment and luxury, and expensive materials in daily life like gold and silver. For that reason, ceramic art was so popular for Arab Artists who were able to achieve marvelous results using new techniques on all levels.Alternatively, Islamic ceramics fulfilled different other sides of people’s daily needs either private or public, as Islamic Ceramists made tiles in different shapes, in order to use them in covering walls, in addition to cups, plates, bowls, vases, jugs, water bottles, and other vessels for different uses. And what was so obvious was that Islamic ceramics manufacturing was developed and has significantly improved since Islam entered new regions and countries, having very good reputation in making ceramics such as in Iran, Iraq, Egypt and El-Sham countries. For that, the idea of this research came out to light trying to get some benefits of Islamic ceramics, by trying to use some of very known ceramic shapes and having new contemporaneous solutions to treat its outer surface, like using Luster glazes reduction and Raku.

Preparation of ammonium nitrate-based solid composite propellants supplemented with polyurethane/nitrocellulose blends binder and their thermal decomposition behavior

Sabri Touidjine, Moulai Karim Boulkadid, Djalal Trache et al.

To improve the performance of solid composite propellants (SCPs) supplemented with ammonium nitrate (AN) as an oxidizer, the incorporation of energetic ingredients such as explosives, energetic binders or catalysts is a common effective approach. For this purpose, polyurethane (PU), a typical inert binder, was mixed with nitrocellulose (NC) as an energetic polymer. Numerous composite solid propellant compositions based on AN and NC-modified polyurethane binder with different NC ratios were prepared. The prepared formulations were characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), RAMAN spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), electron densimetry, thermogravimetric (TG) analysis, and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). A kinetic study was then performed using the iterative Kissinger-Akahira-Sunose (It-KAS), Flynn-Wall-Ozawa (It-FWO), and non-linear Vyazovkin integral with compensation effect (VYA/CE) methods. The theoretical performances, such as theoretical specific impulse, adiabatic flame temperature, and ideal exhaust gaseous species, were also determined using the NASA Lewis Code, Chemical Equilibrium with Application (CEA). Spectroscopic examinations revealed the existence of NC and full polymerization of PU in the prepared propellants. According to density tests, the density of the propellant increases as the nitrocellulose component increases. According to the thermal analysis and kinetics study, the increase in NC content catalyzed the thermal decomposition of the AN-based composite solid propellants. Based on the theoretical study, increasing the amount of NC in the propellant increased the specific impulse and, as a result, the overall performance.

The Concept of Islamic Parenting in the Era of Islamic Moderation: An Analysis of Hurlock's Parenting Theory

Vivi Yulia Nora

<p class="abstrak" align="center"><strong>Abstract</strong></p><p><em>This article describes the parenting proposed by Hurlock and its relevance to parenting in Islam in the face of Islamic moderation demands. This research is comparative research with data analysis techniques using content analysis and descriptive analysis. This research concludes that there are two Hurlock’s parenting patterns related to </em>Islamic<em> parenting, namely authoritarian and democratic parenting. In Islamic Parenting, parents parenting is not authoritarian and not too permissive towards children; this is in line with the concept of Wasatiyyah in Islam, which means in the middle. This parenting is one of the examples of Noah AS., Ibrahim AS., and Luqman as told int the Qur’an, and the example og prophet Muhammad SAW., in the Sunnah. To face the moderation of Islam, parents can apply these two parenting styles to their children. Through moderate but still Islamic parenting, it is hoped that it can make a generation that can become part of the "ummatan wasa</em><em>ṭ</em><em>an", namely a generation that has good, fair, and not extreme characters, and is independent, not taking sides except for what is right according to the teachings of the Shari'a</em><em>.</em></p><p><strong><em>Keyword:</em></strong><em> Parenting, Hurlock, Islamic Parenting, Moderation of Islam</em></p><p><strong><em>Abstrak</em></strong></p><p><em>Artikel ini memaparkan tentang pola asuh yang dikemukakan oleh Hurlock dan relevansinya dengan parenting dalam Islam dalam menghadapi tuntutan moderasi Islam. Fashion: Akumulasi Modal dan Habituasi Pada Praktik Dakwah Komunitas Hijrah

Wisnu Pudji Pawestri, Siti Kholifah

The diversity of religious practices forms a new pattern, where each community is challenged to be 'in tune' with the current trend and situation. The pattern challenges each community to compete with others to provide good bargaining power so the audience is in the discourse that they produced. To propagate hijrah discourse, Taubah Muslim (Community’s name is disguised) community uses fashion as a strategy in da’wah activism. Taubah Muslim hijrah community is a community that persuades millennials to hijrah through da'wah. Fashion in this context is positioned as a medium as well as a 'new way' to approach the da'wah target. This article puts fashion as a social practice in which there are forms of representation and expression of Islamic values. Using a descriptive qualitative method, this article highlights how fashion is used and chosen by agents in da’wah arena as a strategy to reproduce hijrah discourse. Based on Pierre Bourdieu's social practice theory, the results of the analysis conclude that fashion is used as a placement strategy to encourage perceptions of shared identity. Furthermore, fashion functionally is used as an acculturation technique to approach the da'wah target (young generation). The choice of fashion as a da'wah strategy is based on habitus and capital owned by agents in the da'wah arena. Then, Fashion is treated as a representation of other meanings that are presented by agents to create reality, which is based on their habitus and capital. The existence of capital becomes an important thing for the community to maintain, strengthen, and differentiate (distinction) with others in achieving a dominant position, namely in terms of propagative hijrah discourse

MUSLIMAH COSMOPOLITAN LIFESTYLE: ANTARA SYARI’AT, TREND MASA KINI DAN KAPITALISASI AGAMA (Studi Budaya Pop Terhadap Pemilihan Putri Muslimah Indonesia)

Inayatul Ulya

This article analyzes the importance of the use of popular culture as a method in the study of Islam within the cosmopolitan muslimah lifestyle phenomenon, particullary in the contes of  Putri Muslimah Indonesia (Miss Muslimah Indonesia). The use of popular culture method to understand the real intension of hijab observerance;wether for the purpose observing sharia or just follow the present trend, or religious capitalisation. The Observerance of sharia commonly interpreted by wearing of the so-called sharia clothing. Because wearing sharia  clothing (hijab syar’i) as the symbol of religious piety and secondly, emphasizing that sharia in this case  always adaptive in any circumstances as long as it doesn’t violate the basic teaching of sharia, as the present demand of muslimah lifestyle is expressed in various way, one of them is the trend of hijab syar’i. Third, the utilization of religious symbol to generate economic profit. Various events such as the contes of  Putri Muslimah Indonesia (Miss Muslimah Indonesia) as important booster for muslim fashion industries to gain huge profits by targeting large market of stylist cosmopolitan muslimah. Thus, the element of religious capitalization is much more visible than spreading the true spirit of Islamic teaching.
