Effects of mindfulness-based interventions on perceived stress among non-clinical adults: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Anisha Rajan, Mahendra Kumar, Pranav Raj P
Abstract Mindfulness-based interventions (MBIs) are recognised as effective psychosocial strategies for managing stress. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of studies published up to August 2025 across the Web of Science, PubMed, Scopus, PsycINFO, EBSCO and Google Scholar following the PRISMA guidelines. Seventeen randomised controlled trials (n = 1,641) met the inclusion criteria. Baseline stress did not differ between MBI and control groups (SMD = 0.15, 95% CI = −0.07 to 0.36, p = 0.18). Post-intervention, MBIs were associated with significantly lower perceived stress (SMD = −0.53, 95% CI = −0.72 to −0.33, p < 0.00001). Within-group analyses indicated substantial reductions among MBI participants (SMD = 0.93, 95% CI = 0.62 to 1.23, p < 0.00001), whereas controls showed only marginal changes (SMD = 0.23, 95% CI = 0.00 to 0.46, p = 0.05). Subgroup analyses confirmed effectiveness across regions and delivery modalities, with larger effects observed in indirect interventions (SMD = −0.676, p < 0.001). Meta-regression found no significant moderators, and sensitivity analyses demonstrated robustness with minimal publication bias. Collectively, these results support MBIs as effective and scalable strategies for reducing perceived stress in non-clinical adults, highlighting the need for further evaluation of their effects on physiological stress markers.

MBT-TF.

Primadi Candra Susanto, Ni Nyoman Sawitri, Hapzi Ali
et al.
This research aims to examine the influence of Employee Engagement through Servant Leadership, Training, and Self-Efficacy on Employee Performance. This research uses quantitative methods and questionnaires distributed to employees at international cargo expedition companies. The analysis tool used was SmartPLS version 3 software. The research results revealed that servant leadership had a positive impact on employee engagement in international cargo expedition companies, while training also had a positive impact. However, self-efficacy does not have a significant effect on employee engagement or performance. Theoretical contributions suggest that employee engagement can mediate the relationship between servant leadership and employee performance, and vice versa. The findings of this research are useful for the human resource department. However, this research has the limitation of researchers only focusing on employee performance and involvement in freight forwarding companies. This study recommends further research in other organizations.

Counseling Stigma: A Gender Analysis of Mental Health Access in Higher Education
Andi Wahyu Irawan, Hani Yulindrasari, Dwisona Dwisona
Traditional gender roles have put psychological pressure on college students. The lack of gender-sensitive counseling services and studies in universities reinforces traditional gender roles. With this basis, this study aims to determine students' views on gender-sensitive counseling services. Qualitative research using semi-structured interviews was used to understand their perspectives deeply. Focus is given to formulating questions, aiming to address potential social biases that may hinder participants from providing honest information. Participants consisted of 4 guidance and counseling students (2 men and two women) who had not received lecture material on gender-sensitive counseling in a multicultural counseling course at one of the State Universities in Samarinda City. The results showed that there is an understanding of traditional gender roles, masculinity discourse in counseling services, and gender bias occurring in counselors can be obstacles in providing access to gender-sensitive mental health services. This research confirms the need to study and design gender-sensitive counseling services to access more inclusive mental health services in higher education.

Telerehabilitation for stroke patients in the time of covid-19
hafsah gul khattak
Telerehabilitation provides an alternative way for delivering rehabilitation services without in person contact of the patient and physician. Various technologies are used for communication between therapist and patient for example, use of videos calls, voice call via telephone and internet based conferences. Virtual or augmented environments generated via computers can be used for stroke patient rehabilitation, where patient completes a task shown on computer screen. In the time of covid-19 pandemic where quarantine and isolation strategies are practiced to mitigate spread of virus, utilization of this technology will help in delivering rehabilitation services to stroke survivors in a safe manner. Stroke or cerebrovascular accident is the most common cause of mortality and a leading cause of disability across the world. Stroke survivors often face difficulty performing activities of daily living (ADL) and have limitation in participating in societal activities. Thus increasing the economic cost and increasing the burden. The use of this technology for stroke survivors can improve physical and mental functions without unnecessary visits to hospitals thus reducing the risk of corona virus infection. Maintenance of social distancing provokes psychological stressors like depression and anxiety among stroke patients worsening the conditions further. Telerehabilitation can help in improving psychological health of patients.........

Levetiracetam-Associated Psychogenic Non-epileptic Seizures; A Hidden Paradox.
S. Jabeen, Padmaja Gaddamanugu, A. Cherian
et al.
Objectives To study the clinical profile and outcome in patients with epilepsy who developed psychogenic non-epileptic seizures (PNES) associated with levetiracetam (LEV) use. Methods In this prospective observational study, conducted over 1 year, 13 patients with epilepsy and PNES, documented by video electroencephalogram (VEEG) while on LEV, were included. Those with past history of psychiatric illnesses were excluded. VEEG, high-resolution magnetic resonance imaging, neuropsychological and psychiatric evaluation were performed. Patients in Group I (07) were treated with psychotherapy, psychiatric medications and immediate withdrawal of LEV while, those in Group II (06) received psychotherapy, anxiolytics and LEV for initial 2 months after which it was stopped. Follow-up period was six months. There was subsidence of PNES on discontinuation of LEV in these patients. Results Mean (±SD) age of patients was 25 ± 12.28 years; there were 11 (84.62%) females. All were on antiepileptic agents which included LEV >1000 mg/day, except one. Mean dose of LEV was 1269.23 ± 483.71 mg/day. Three patient's scores were suggestive of depression or anxiety; one had both depression and anxiety. Eight patients had mood disorders; three had a history of emotional abuse or neglect. PNES subsided within 1-3 months and did not recur after withdrawal of LEV in any patient. Conclusion LEV can induce PNES in susceptible populations. Awareness of this association is crucial for timely withdrawal of triggering factor and appropriate management. This will reduce inadvertent additional prescription of antiepileptic agents.

Dysfunctional family environments and childhood psychopathology: the role of psychiatric comorbidity.
S. M. Flores, G. Salum, G. Manfro
INTRODUCTION The study of the association between specific characteristics of family environments and different types of psychopathology may contribute to our understanding of these complex disorders and ultimately inform therapeutics. OBJECTIVE To compare the family characteristics of four groups: typically developing children; children with anxiety disorders only; children with externalizing disorders only; and children with both anxiety and externalizing disorders. METHODS This study enrolled 115 individuals from the community. Child psychiatrists made psychiatric diagnoses using a structured clinical interview. The Family Environment scale was used to evaluate six domains of family function. RESULTS The group with both anxiety and externalizing disorders had higher levels of conflict in family environment and lower levels of organization when compared with typically developing children. In addition, internalizing and externalizing symptoms were positively associated with conflict and negatively with organization. Maternal depressive and anxious symptoms were also associated with higher conflict and lower organization scores. CONCLUSION An important between-group difference in comorbid cases of anxiety and behavioral disorders suggests that children with this comorbidity are potential candidates for family interventions to address family conflicts and organizational aspects.
