Abstract Public Institutions need information systems that facilitate management of generated documents during business processes on a digital platform. Development of information and communication technologies facilitated the transfer of documents to digital platforms which caused the emergence of Electronic Document Management System (EDMS). Institutions are utilizing EDMS in order to keep records securely and improve business processes. EDMS have many benefits such as improvement of efficiency and productivity, reduction of errors, increase in quality of service and reduction of costs. On the other hand, while EDMS offers many benefits to its users, it also has made it imperative to adopt the new technological system. For this reason, it becomes essential to understand the factors that affect the intention of use of EDMS. This study researches the factors that affect the adoption and use of EDMS in Bartin University by using the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT). In this research, data was analyzed by using R software program and Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). Based on the findings, 61% of the intention of use of EDMS has been explained by performance expectancy and social influence factors with in the proposed model. Empirical findings suggest that the factors of performance expectancy and social influence has a positive effect on the intention of use but of effort expectancy factor does not have a positive effect.

The paper presents a theoretical investigation exploring the effects of the types of family support on the subjective well-being of entrepreneurial women in the Arab region. Despite the increasing acknowledgment of the significance of women's entrepreneurship in driving economic development, there remains a limited understanding of the roles played by different types of family support and their effects on the well-being of women entrepreneurs within the Arab states. Drawing on existing literature and theoretical frameworks, we argue that family support (instrumental, financial, and emotional) is crucial in facilitating the entrepreneurial endeavors and subjective well-being of women entrepreneurs operating in Arab states, where patriarchal forces and discriminatory social norms often shape the entrepreneurial landscape. Furthermore, this paper outlines a future research agenda to bridge the knowledge gap on this issue. We emphasize the importance of considering cultural and contextual factors while exploring the dynamics of family support and its outcomes and conducting empirical investigations in the Arab region. Overall, this paper contributes to understanding the unique challenges and opportunities faced by women entrepreneurs in the Arab region and can inform policymakers, support organizations, and stakeholders in designing effective interventions and support mechanisms for women entrepreneurs in the Arab states.

Line of Credit (LOC) is a credit source extended to firms by a bank or other financial institutions to help firms meet their short- and long-term obligations. The study’s broad aim is to examine the effect of the 2008 financial crisis on firms’ use of LOC. The study analyses the global crisis impacts on corporate financing through a LOC; examines the role of letters of credit in a firm’s liquidity management; and assesses the difficulties banks face in providing LOC facilities to firms. The study limits its scope to a few years: a year before (2007), during the crisis (2008/09), and a year after. This ensures that the gaps between the years are small and allows the study to focus on the crisis era. The paper examines 30 Canadian firms, before, during, and after the crisis, to determine whether they use more of their LOC or cash flow to finance their day-to-day financial obligations. Also, the paper intends to determine the amount of interest paid if LOCs were used by the firms. The paper finds that during the crisis, 10 Canadian firms were able to meet their day-to-day operations without relying much on LOC. They used more of their cash flow instead of LOCs to meet their financial obligations, and during the period of the crisis, the firms used less of their LOCs, which indicates that lower interest were being paid by the firms. For some firms, the difference in percentage of their cash flow usage between the year before the crisis and during the year of the crisis was not so significant. Some firms had been in the habit of always using their cash flow to meet their day-to-day financial obligations. These firms would always be in the right position to get more credit from the bank.

Sensitive attributes like gender or age can lead to unfair predictions in machine learning tasks such as predictive business process monitoring, particularly when used without considering context. We present FairLoop1, a tool for human-guided bias mitigation in neural network-based prediction models. FairLoop distills decision trees from neural networks, allowing users to inspect and modify unfair decision logic, which is then used to fine-tune the original model towards fairer predictions. Compared to other approaches to fairness, FairLoop enables context-aware bias removal through human involvement, addressing the influence of sensitive attributes selectively rather than excluding them uniformly.

Next activity prediction represents a fundamental challenge for optimizing business processes in service-oriented architectures such as microservices environments, distributed enterprise systems, and cloud-native platforms, which enables proactive resource allocation and dynamic service composition. Despite the prevalence of sequence-based methods, these approaches fail to capture non-sequential relationships that arise from parallel executions and conditional dependencies. Even though graph-based approaches address structural preservation, they suffer from homogeneous representations and static structures that apply uniform modeling strategies regardless of individual process complexity characteristics. To address these limitations, we introduce RLHGNN, a novel framework that transforms event logs into heterogeneous process graphs with three distinct edge types grounded in established process mining theory. Our approach creates four flexible graph structures by selectively combining these edges to accommodate different process complexities, and employs reinforcement learning formulated as a Markov Decision Process to automatically determine the optimal graph structure for each specific process instance. RLHGNN then applies heterogeneous graph convolution with relation-specific aggregation strategies to effectively predict the next activity. This adaptive methodology enables precise modeling of both sequential and non-sequential relationships in service interactions. Comprehensive evaluation on six real-world datasets demonstrates that RLHGNN consistently outperforms state-of-the-art approaches. Furthermore, it maintains an inference latency of approximately 1 ms per prediction, representing a highly practical solution suitable for real-time business process monitoring applications. The source code is available at https://github.com/Joker3993/RLHGNN.

This study investigates the role of employee motivation as a critical factor in effective business management and explores how financial and non-financial motivators shape engagement and performance. Based on a quantitative survey of 102 employees, the research analyzes differences in motivation levels across gender, age, and work experience, as well as the perceived effectiveness of various motivational tools. The findings indicate that financial incentives, particularly bonuses for achieving targets, are the most influential motivators, while non-financial factors such as flexible work schedules, additional leave, career development opportunities, and workplace atmosphere also play a crucial role in enhancing motivation. Significant variations in motivation were observed, with men, older employees, and those with longer tenure reporting higher levels. The study also reveals that work-life balance initiatives substantially increase motivation, highlighting the importance of combining financial and non-financial strategies to achieve optimal results. The results provide actionable insights for managers seeking to design effective motivation systems, showing that tailored, multifaceted approaches can improve employee satisfaction, retention, and organizational performance. Future research could explore cultural and sectoral differences and examine the evolving importance of motivational factors in remote and hybrid work environments.

Through virtualization and resource integration, cloud computing has expanded its service area and offers a better user experience than the traditional platforms, along with its business operation model bringing huge economic and social benefits. However, a large amount of evidence shows that cloud computing is facing with serious security and trust crisis, and building a trust-enabled transaction environment has become its key factor. The traditional cloud trust model usually adopts a centralized architecture, which causes large management overhead, network congestion and even single point of failure. Furthermore, due to a lack of transparency and traceability, trust evaluation results cannot be fully recognized by all participants. Blockchain is a new and promising decentralized framework and distributed computing paradigm. Its unique features in operating rules and traceability of records ensure the integrity, undeniability and security of the transaction data. Therefore, blockchain is very suitable for constructing a distributed and decentralized trust architecture. This paper carries out a comprehensive survey on blockchain-based trust approaches in cloud computing systems. Based on a novel cloud-edge trust management framework and a double-blockchain structure based cloud transaction model, it identifies the open challenges and gives directions for future research in this field.

In this paper, we propose a robust health record storage and management system built on blockchain technology to address the challenges faced by traditional healthcare record systems. The primary advantage of employing blockchain in healthcare record management is its ability to provide a secure and decentralized platform. Unlike traditional centralized databases, where a single point of failure can compromise data integrity and security, blockchain distributes data across a network of nodes, ensuring redundancy and resilience against cyber-attacks. This distributed nature of blockchain enhances data security and privacy, crucial considerations when dealing with sensitive health information. Central to our proposed system is the utilization of smart contracts, which are self-executing contracts with predefined rules and conditions. Smart contracts automate processes related to health record management, such as data access, sharing, and updating, based on predefined permissions and protocols. This automation not only streamlines administrative tasks but also reduces the risk of human errors and ensures data accuracy and consistency. Furthermore, our system prioritizes patient empowerment by granting individuals complete control over their health records. Patients can securely access and manage their data using cryptographic keys, granting permission to healthcare providers or other authorized entities as needed. Overall, our proposed health record storage and management system on the blockchain offer significant advantages over traditional systems, including enhanced security, data integrity, transparency, and patient control. By leveraging blockchain technology and smart contracts, healthcare organizations can revolutionize their record management practices, and maintaining secure ecosystems.

Corroborating upper echelons theory, this study picks up the notion that narcissistic chief executive officers (CEOs) take advantage of accounting choices to enhance their firms’—and inherently their own—personal track records. Using a set of 15 indicators, reflecting the narcissistic trait of 1126 CEOs for the period 1992 to 2012, we find evidence of highly narcissistic CEOs engaging in accrual-based earnings management (ABEM). In contrast to prior research, the results show evidence not only for income-increasing but also for income-decreasing ABEM. This indicates that highly narcissistic CEOs not only strive to influence stakeholders’ perception of current performance. We conclude that they also assess their potential to influence perception of current and future earnings. The results imply that highly narcissistic CEOs’ accounting choices are driven by self-serving behavior rather than by the intention to provide additional information to the market. When earnings management techniques are used to derive personal advantage from the presentation of a firm’s earnings, the literature refers to this as a case of low earnings quality reflecting unethical behavior. Accordingly, this study contributes to the field of business ethics by showing that CEO narcissism is related to low earnings quality in that it is associated to discretionarily decreasing accruals.

This research focuses on a food store that faces several problems, as it still uses manual methods such as a slow product ordering process. Currently, the seller has to manually determine the product price, check the stock availability, and confirm it to the customer, which causes the transaction time to be longer. In addition, there are issues with data recording errors and the risk of losing information on paper records that are also used manually. To overcome these problems, this food shop intends to build an e-commerce business through a website. The approach chosen is to utilize a content management system (CMS), specifically using WordPress as the CMS and for the method using the waterfall method. CMS allows the creation, organization, distribution, publication, and maintenance of corporate or institutional information without requiring expertise in HTML coding. WordPress is very easy to use and easy to access. The proposed solution involves analyzing business processes using the Business Model Canvas (BMC) approach and then building an e-commerce business by designing a website based on CMS, specifically WordPress. This e-commerce website will transform the conventional business model into an online business model, facilitate increased product sales, minimize data recording errors, and generate sales reports using a database for information storage. In creating a website using wordpress which is assisted by the waterfall method which hopes to have an interface and tools that can make it easier for users to use. In addition, this system will provide customers with an efficient online ordering experience and easy access to product information, thereby increasing the efficiency of the purchasing process.
