Mitigating inappropriate concepts in text-to-image generation with attention-guided Image editing

Jiyeon Oh, Jae-Yeop Jeong, Yeong-Gi Hong et al.

Text-to-image generative models have recently garnered a significant surge due to their ability to produce diverse images based on given text prompts. However, concerns regarding the occasional generation of inappropriate, offensive, or explicit content have arisen. To address this, we propose a simple yet effective method that leverages attention map to selectively suppress inappropriate concepts during image generation. Unlike existing approaches that often sacrifice original image context or demand substantial computational overhead, our method preserves image integrity without requiring additional model training or extensive engineering effort. To evaluate our method, we conducted comprehensive quantitative assessments on inappropriateness reduction, text fidelity, image consistency, and computational cost, alongside an online human perceptual study involving 20 participants. The results from our statistical analysis demonstrated that our method effectively removes inappropriate content while preserving the integrity of the original images with high computational efficiency.

An HPLC-UV Method to Assess Human Plasma 25(OH)D3

Alexandra Tijerina, Aurora Garza, Abad López et al.

The aim of this study was to validate an HPLC-UV method to assess vitamin D status by determining the linearity and precision of the 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 (25(OH)D3) calibration curve, the limits of detection, quantitation and robustness of the method, and its accuracy. A second stock solution of 25(OH)D3 was prepared (500 ng/mL), and working dilutions (5, 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 ng/mL) were prepared for a calibration curve. The HPLC equipment had a UV-Vis diode-array detector and utilized an AcclaimTM 120 C18 column (5 µm, 4.6 × 250 mm) with a flow rate of 1.2 mL/min, a column temperature of 30 °C, and the standards and samples were maintained at 4 °C, with an injection volume of 100 µL. Detection of 25(OH)D3 was determined at 265 nm, with a retention time of 4.0 min. The validation was conducted according to the FDA Validation of Analytical Procedures: Guidance for Industry. Vitamin D was extracted from plasma samples using acetonitrile (ACN)–0.1% formic acid (2:1 v/v), and the percentage of recovery was calculated. The proposed method conditions gave excellent linearity (R2 = 0.9989) and the linearity coefficient was R2 > 0.99 for 25(OH)D3. The detection and quantification limits were 1.1703 ng/mL and 3.5462 ng/mL, respectively. Decreasing or increasing the reading temperature by 1 °C decreased the response units (AU) of vitamin D, 25(OH)D3. When the current flow rate decreased by 0.2 mL/min (1.0 mL/min), the retention time increased to 4.913 min, whereas an increase of 0.2 mL/min of the proposed flow rate (1.4 mL/min) decreased the retention time to 3.500 min. The percentage of recovery varied from 92.2% to 97.1%. The proposed method to quantify a vitamin D metabolite (25(OH)D3) in human plasma samples was reliable and validated.

Kinetic and Isotherm Studies for Cu2+ and Cs+ Uptake with Mono- and Bimetallic FeO(OH)-MnOx-Clinoptilolite

Eva Chmielewská, Marek Bujdoš, Marek Hupian et al.

This study investigates the adsorption of selected water pollutants, namely caesium and copper, by using natural zeolite of the clinoptilolite type, as well as clinoptilolites coated with MnOx, FeO(OH)-MnOx and FeO(OH). A comprehensive evaluation of these processes was conducted. The kinetics of Cs and Cu adsorption on all examined samples smoothly followed the pseudo-second-order kinetic model, with the liquid film step regarded as the slower step in both cases. The Langmuir isotherm model provided the most accurate description of Cs and Cu adsorption for all examined samples. However, when considering natural clinoptilolite and FeO(OH)-clinoptilolite systems in relation to Cu(II), the Redlich–Peterson model slightly outperformed the Langmuir model. The modification of clinoptilolite with Mn and Fe oxyhydroxides did not significantly enhance the removal efficiency of Cs compared to the unmodified sample. In contrast, the adsorption capacity, especially for MnOx-clinoptilolite, increased fourfold for Cu and other tested cations such as Pb and Zn, indicating improved efficiency in these cases.

Easy and structured approach for software and firmware co-simulation for bus centric designs

Michał Kruszewski

Although software and firmware co-simulation is gaining popularity, it is still not widely used in the FPGA designs. This work presents easy and structured approach for software and firmware co-simulation for bus centric designs. The proposed approach is very modular and software language agnostic. The only requirement is that the firmware design is accessible via some kind of system bus. The concept has been used for testing DAQ system being developed for high energy physics experiment.

On Double-Sided QR-Codes

Alexey Tikhonov

Due to the widespread adoption of the smart mobile devices, QR codes have become one of the most-known types of 2D codes around the world. However, the data capacity properties of modern QR codes are still not perfect. To address this issue, in this paper, we propose a novel approach to make double-sided QR codes, which could carry two different messages in a straight and mirrored position. To facilitate the process of creation of such codes we propose two methods of their construction: the brute-force method and the analytic solution.

Fractal surfaces from simple arithmetic operations

Vladimir Garcia-Morales

Fractal surfaces ('patchwork quilts') are shown to arise under most general circumstances involving simple bitwise operations between real numbers. A theory is presented for all deterministic bitwise operations on a finite alphabet. It is shown that these models give rise to a roughness exponent $H$ that shapes the resulting spatial patterns, larger values of the exponent leading to coarser surfaces.

Memoization technique for optimizing functions with stochastic input

Edin H. Mulalić, Miomir S. Stanković, Radomir S. Stanković

In this paper we present a strategy for optimization functions with stochastic input. The main idea is to take advantage of decomposition in combination with a look-up table. Deciding what input values should be used for memoization is determined based on the underlying probability distribution of input variables. Special attention is given to difficulties caused by combinatorial explosion.

Boolean Logic with Fault Tolerant Coding

B. Baykant Alagoz

Error detectable and error correctable coding in Hamming space was researched to discover possible fault tolerant coding constellations, which can implement Boolean logic with fault tolerant property. Basic logic operators of the Boolean algebra were developed to apply fault tolerant coding in the logic circuits. It was shown that application of three-bit fault tolerant codes have provided the digital system skill of auto-recovery without need for designing additional-fault tolerance mechanisms.
