The aim of this work is to systematize a model that considers the use of audiovisual resources as a complement to the development of Historical Thinking in the classroom. For the theoretical basis, we reviewed postulates about Historical Thinking in relation to film materials. We examined references regarding the relevance of complementing History classes with audiovisual material and structured criteria to help define selection parameters. For the construction of this model, we consulted dramaturgical texts through which we projected a guide serving as training for the teacher with tools to help them understand how to break down and analyze this material, and how to find the best way to use it in favor of the session and the construction of Historical Thinking. We conclude this work by providing projections in the pursuit of continuously improving didactic-pedagogical techniques that come to the aid of our students.

This is a case study on migration management in the United States of America, according to the New Political Economy approach. Attention is paid to how Latin American immigrants are treated, given the change in public policies and their economic perception. There has been a shift from open-door immigration policies to raids and massive deportations, violating the founding principles of the United States and the key to its growth and development, since immigrants are not only a greater productive factor of work, but also bring knowledge, technologies and institutions that improve the competitiveness. Faced with this change in public powers, civil society has reacted, with a revitalization of the Sanctuary Movement. This study uses an explanatory methodology on the evolution of the academic disciplines and approaches dedicated to the research on religion-economics-migration relations, to focus its attention on the case study of the Sanctuary Movement.

The artistic technique has an important role in the constructive analyzes of the plastic visual achievements according to the relationship of the artistic elements and the mechanisms of their operation with each other, so the artist deliberately shows the aesthetics of these techniques through his own artistic and technical style according to his conscious ability to move away from the classical traditions. The research consists of four chapters, the chapter included The first is on the methodological framework of the research, so the problem was summed up by the following question: What are the technical aesthetics in the works of Alberto Buri? As for its importance, it was represented by studying the works of the artist (Alberto Buri) for his stylistic and technical uniqueness among the artists of his era. As for the spatial borders (Europe and the United States of America), the temporal borders of the period (1949-1960). Among the results reached by the researcher: The (Buri) style was associated with the technique of existing objects, as it took the collection of dilapidated materials in order to liberate the artwork from all classical constraints and adopt contemporary techniques He mixed dyes with other materials to form different surfaces that were strange.

Species of the genus Senecio have been traditionally employed with medical purposes and it has been demonstrated that some of them have anti-proliferative activity on cancer-derived cell lines. In South America S. madagascariensis is one of the most important representatives of the genus. Almost all species contain pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PA), substances that can lead to hepatic damage. Thus, the aim of this work was to determine the cytotoxic activity of a low PAs extract of S. madagascariensis on a cancer-derived cell line. A chloroform extract from plant material was produced and it was demonstrated to have a PAs concentration lower than 200 µg/g (w/w). Two stock solutions were made with DMSO and acetone as solvents and were diluted in culture medium (DMEM). Cells from urinary bladder transitional cell carcinoma T24 were cultured in 96 well plates (10⁴ cells/well) and incubated for 24 hours with dilutions of the extracts at the following concentrations, 0.5 mg/mL, 0.25 mg/mL, 0.125 mg/mL and 0.06 mg/mL. Cell viability was evaluated by the MTT colorimetric technique. Both solutions of S. madagascariensis extracts (acetone and DMSO) showed cytotoxic activity. In both cases, the degree of cytotoxicity was dependent on the concentration of the solution.
We introduce a design principle of metasurfaces that can form any desired distribution of magnetic field for high-efficiency wireless power transfer centered at 200 kHz, which can be used to efficiently charge implanted medical devices. This metasurface can improve the power transfer efficiency for both single-user and multi-user cases by over tenfold compared to those without the metasurface. Our design enables a robust field distribution to the positions of the transmitting and receiving coils, as well as the geometric distortions of the metasurface itself, demonstrating its feasibility as a wearable device. With our design, the field distribution and subsequent power division among the multiple users can be readily controlled from equal distribution to any selective user(s). When incorporating a three-dimensional unit cell of the metasurface, we theoretically demonstrate an omnidirectional control of the field orientation to achieve a high-efficiency wireless power transfer for multiple users.
Assim, Eugenia e Medicina Social (1922), Melhoremos e Prolonguemos a vida: a valorização eugênica do homem (1923), Lições de Eugenia (1929) e Aparas eugênicas: Sexo e civilização (1933), constituem as fontes principais desta pesquisa.

Regulatory Policy and Orderly European Integration. This paper investigates the role of USA in promoting of economic order (Ordoliberalism) in Germany after the second world war and further its impact on the bottom-up process of Europeanization. Moreover, the United States of America as a modern federation has become an inspiration for European federation concepts. The main hypothesis is contained in the statement that the depart from the policy of order by the USA has been disastrous for international order. The consequence of this was financial and economic crisis, which further deepened the EU and EMU disorder.

Here we describe an efficient and effective technique for rearing sexually-derived coral propagules from spawning through larval settlement and symbiont uptake with minimal impact on natural coral populations. We sought to maximize larval survival while minimizing expense and daily husbandry maintenance by experimentally determining optimized conditions and protocols for gamete fertilization, larval cultivation, induction of larval settlement by crustose coralline algae, and inoculation of newly settled juveniles with their dinoflagellate symbiont Symbiodinium. Larval rearing densities at or below 0.2 larvae mL−1 were found to maximize larval survival and settlement success in culture tanks while minimizing maintenance effort. Induction of larval settlement via the addition of a ground mixture of diverse crustose coralline algae (CCA) is recommended, given the challenging nature of in situ CCA identification and our finding that non settlement-inducing CCA assemblages do not inhibit larval settlement if suitable assemblages are present. Although order of magnitude differences in infectivity were found between common Great Barrier Reef Symbiodinium clades C and D, no significant differences in Symbiodinium uptake were observed between laboratory-cultured and wild-harvested symbionts in each case. The technique presented here for Acropora millepora can be adapted for research and restoration efforts in a wide range of broadcast spawning coral species.

Mountain pine beetle (Dendroctonus ponderosae) has killed millions of hectares of pine forests in western North America. Beetle success is dependent upon a community of symbiotic fungi comprised of Grosmannia clavigera, Ophiostoma montium, and Leptographium longiclavatum. Factors regulating the dynamics of this community during pine infection are largely unknown. However, fungal volatile organic compounds (FVOCs) help shape fungal interactions in model and agricultural systems and thus may be important drivers of interactions among bark beetle-associated fungi. We investigated whether FVOCs can mediate interspecific interactions among mountain pine beetle's fungal symbionts by affecting fungal growth and reproduction. Headspace volatiles were collected and identified to determine species-specific volatile profiles. Interspecific effects of volatiles on fungal growth and conidia production were assessed by pairing physically-separated fungal cultures grown either on a carbon-poor or -rich substrate, inside a shared-headspace environment. Fungal VOC profiles differed by species and influenced the growth and/or conidia production of the other species. Further, our results showed that FVOCs can be used as carbon sources for fungi developing on carbon-poor substrates. This is the first report demonstrating that FVOCs can drive interactions among bark beetle fungal symbionts, and thus are important factors in beetle attack success.

Spotted wing drosophila (SWD) is a tiny invasive fruit fly pest of small fruits. It has been found infesting fruits in Europe and North and South America. Since its first capture in California in 2008, SWD has established populations throughout the United States in over 47 states. This trifold brochure describes how to identify and monitor these tiny pests and explains a few strategies to control them and limit the damage they cause to fruit crops.
Cruise in French Polynesia is a rather little developed and fragile practise. The distance, the lack of infrastructures, the lack of flexibility of the rules was pointed for a long time to explain its difficulties. The analysis of cruise in French Polynesia is difficult because it includes diversified practices as in their forms, the profile of the tourists, the explored places, and social and economic impacts. Cruise seems to become one of the axes of tourist development policies set by the local government. Papeete is in the heart of developments which have also served cruise and strengthened the “urbanity” of this city.
