This paper presents a novel framework for optimizing capacitor selection in electronic design using multi-objective linear and non-linear constrained optimization techniques. We demonstrate the effectiveness of this approach in minimizing cost and board area while meeting critical performance requirements.

Excitable neuromorphic circuits are physical models of event behaviors: their continuous-time trajectories consist of sequences of discrete events. This paper explores the possibility of extracting a discrete-event model out of the physical continuous-time model. We discuss the potential of this methodology for analysis and design of neuromorphic control systems.

This report investigates the extension of the Bayesian Subspace System Identification method proposed in our previous work to the Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) case. We derive new equivariant priors and posterior distributions specifically suited for the MIMO framework. Numerical results utilizing the DAISY dataset are reported to validate the approach.

This paper leverages recent advances in high derivatives reconstruction from noisy-time series and sparse multivariate polynomial identification in order to improve the process of parsimoniously identifying, from a small amount of data, unknown Single-Input/Single-Output nonlinear dynamics of relative degree up to 4. The methodology is illustrated on the Electronic Throttle Controlled automotive system.

A mathematical model, suitable for smartphone implementation, is presented to simulate the performance of a rainwater harvesting system equipped with a covered storage tank. This model serves to determine the optimal tank size and develop strategies to mitigate drought conditions.

In this work, we propose novel method for certifying if a given set of vertex linear systems constitute a linear difference inclusion for a nonlinear system. The method relies on formulating the verification of the inclusion as an optimization problem in a novel manner. The result is a Yes/No certificate. We illustrate how the method can be useful in obtaining less conservative linear enclosures for nonlinear systems.

Under the assumption that a finite signal with different sampling lengths or different sampling frequencies is considered as equivalent, the signal space is considered as the quotient space of $\mathbb{R}^{\infty}$ over equivalence. The topological structure and the properties of signal space are investigated. Using them some characteristics of semi-tensor product based compressed sensing (STP-CS) are revealed. Finally, a systematic analysis of the construction of sensing matrix based on balanced incomplete block design (BIBD) is presented.

The problem of decoupling a nonsquare state space system by state feedback with singular input transformation is considered. The problem is solved by conducting a finite search for decouplable square systems, appropriately derived from the original. Decoupling feedback on any of these systems defines the decoupling feedback for the original. The issue of fixed poles is also considered and the possibility of selecting the uncontrollable poles is investigated.

In this short note, we derive an upper-bound for the sum of two comparison functions, namely for the sum of a class K and an extended class K function. To the best of our knowledge, the relations derived in this note have not been previously derived in the literature.

Comparator-overdrive-delay conditioning is a new control conditioning approach for high-frequency current-mode control. No existing literature rigorously studies the effect of the comparator overdrive delay on the current-mode control. The results in this paper provide insights into the mechanism of comparator-overdrive-delay conditioning.

In this note, we want to provide a comparison among the efficiency of different approaches for the verification of K-step and infinite-step opacity based on three different graphs: the Extended Basis Reachability Graph (EBRG), the Basis Reachability Graph (BRG) when applicable, and the Reachability Graph (RG).

This note presents a solution of the swing-up task of two acrobots using trajectory optimization method. The equations of motion for 2-link and 3-link acrobot are manually derived, and then form the dynamics of the robots. Numerical integration method is used to simulate the behaviour of passive robots, with the goal of showing the correctness of the complicated dynamics of the 3-link acrobot. Direct collocation method is used to optimize the trajectory of state and control of the robots with bounds on both.

Phasor measurement units (PMUs) are integrated to the transmission networks under the smart grid umbrella. The observability of PMUs is geographically limited due to their high cost in integration. The measurements of PMUs can be complemented by those from widely installed supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) to enhance the situational awareness. This paper proposes a new state estimation method that simultaneously integrate both measurements, and show an outstanding performance.
