Linking career exploration and decision self-efficacy to career engagement: a sequential mediation model of career adaptability and career calling

Abstract In the current dynamic employment environment, individuals require personal resources to navigate unforeseen career challenges. This study investigates the relationship between career exploration and decision self-efficacy and career engagement, with career adaptability and career calling serving as sequential mediators. Data were gathered from 211 university students in Turkey employing a time-lagged approach. Structural equation modeling demonstrated that the relationship between career exploration and decision self-efficacy positively impacts career engagement and was sequentially mediated by career adaptability and career calling. The findings provide practical implications for higher education institutions and career counseling practices.

Policy frameworks for emerging economies sustainable smart city development: The adoption of artificial intelligence and Internet of Things for the revolutionisation of urban infrastructure

Background: Innovative urban development techniques are required in emerging economies because of the increased urbanisation, infrastructure deficiencies and environmental difficulties they face. With artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) support, smart cities may improve governance and optimise resource use, all of which contribute to sustainable growth. Objectives: The purpose of this study is to examine how policy frameworks driven by AI and IoT may facilitate adaptive and sustainable urban infrastructure in developing nations such as South Africa. Methods: In this study, a range of articles from the Science Direct, Scopus and Sabinet databases were consulted using the systematic literature review approach. Additionally, the inclusion and exclusion criteria are based on the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses framework. Results: Findings suggest that developing countries should create integrated frameworks for smart cities that match local implementation capabilities with national vision, to fill financial shortfalls, creative financing methods like technology-specific Public Private Partnership models and municipal funding need to be expanded. Conclusion: This study demonstrates that successful integration of AI and IoT into urban planning requires a fundamental change requiring strong, flexible policy frameworks rather than just a technology advancement. Such frameworks are crucial for emerging economies to use these technologies for sustainable and equitable infrastructure, guaranteeing that the development of smart cities promotes inclusive growth and long-term resilience. Contribution: This article adds to the conversation on sustainable urban development by putting out a thorough policy framework that uses both applications to improve adaptable infrastructure in smart cities in emerging economies.

Career Competencies, Preparing Students for the Future

The changing nature of the labor market demands lifelong development of employees. This places a new responsibility on education to prepare students for a future of lifelong development. An important aspect of this preparation is the development of career competencies. Career competencies are examined from different perspectives. Two meta-studies, analyzing 77 and 80 international studies, highlight two key theories for understanding career competency development: the Intelligent Career Theory (ICT) and the Social Cognitive Career Theory (SCCT). This article aims to provide deeper insight into career competencies for students by analyzing them conceptually through various theoretical lenses and linking them to research on educational practice in the Dutch context, where development of career competencies is a mandatory part of the pre-vocational and secondary educational curriculum. The ultimate goal is to develop recommendations for designing a learning environment that fosters career competency development in students.

Working mothers in universities: Role of work-to-life enrichment, networking behaviours and career commitment

Background: The workplace needs to be responsive not only to the career needs of employees but also to assist in managing aspects on the home front. Objectives: The study aims to examine the mediating effect of work-to-life enrichment on the relationship between networking behaviour and career commitment among working mothers. Methods: The data for the study were collected using a survey distributed to 297 working mothers accessed through a convenience sampling technique. Data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM), with path analysis used to assess the hypothesised relationships, and indirect effect was examined to test for mediation. Results: The findings reveal that work-to-life enrichment significantly mediates the relationship between networking behaviour and career commitment among working mothers. The favourable effect of networking behaviour on career commitment is reinforced when working mothers have high degrees of work-to-life enrichment. Conclusion: The results demonstrated the factors that can influence career commitment among working mothers striving for a balance between the work and home nexus. Contribution: The study makes significant recommendations for institutions seeking to assist the professional development and well-being of working mothers, ultimately establishing a more equitable working environment.

عوامل موثر بر موفقیت استراتژی‌های ارتقاء مسیرشغلی

هدف: پژوهش حاضر با شناسایی عوامل موثر بر موفقیت استراتژی‌های ارتقاء مسیرشغلی انجام پذیرفته است. روش: این پژوهش از نظر هدف کاربردی و از حیث نحوه گردآوری داده‌ها پیمایشی است. جامعه آماری پژوهش خبرگان هستند که از میان آن‌ها 20 نفر به عنوان اعضای نمونه با روش نمونه‌گیری هدفمند و بر اساس اصل اشباع نظری انتخاب شدند. ابزار گردآوری داده در بخش کیفی پژوهش، مصاحبه و در بخش کمی پرسشنامه است. روایی و پایایی مصاحبه پژوهش با استفاده از روش روایی محتوایی و روایی نظری و پایایی درون کدگذار میان کدگذار تایید شد. همچنین روایی و پایایی پرسشنامه پژوهش با روایی محتوایی و بازآزمون سنجیده شد. برای تحلیل داده‌ها در بخش کیفی از رویکرد تحلیل محتوا و روش کدگذاری با بهره گیری از نرم افزار مکس‌کیو‌دی‌ای و در بخش کمی از روش نقشه شناخت فازی استفاده شد. یافته‌ها: یافته‌های پژوهش مشتمل بر شناسایی عوامل موثر بر موفقیت استراتژی‌های ارتقاء مسیرشغلی می‌باشد.نتیجه‌گیری: نشان می‌دهد که مهمترین عوامل موثر بر موفقیت استراتژی‌های ارتقاء مسیرشغلی، برنامه‌ریزی و هدایت حرفه‌ای فرد برای دستیابی به اهداف شغلی، توانایی سازگاری با تغییرات و چالش‌های جدید، داشتن تجربه و مهارت‌های تخصصی، هماهنگی ارزش‌های شخصی با ارزش‌های سازمانی و استفاده از مشاوره و منتورینگ، می‌باشند.

Comprehensive Management For The Process of Access, Retention, Graduation, and Employability in Higher Education

employability, based on the potential of career guidance, as a contribution to the sustainable reduction of student drop-out.   Theoretical Framework: The Higher Education system of access, retention, graduation, and employability has been described fragmentarily through Pedagogical Sciences. This paper systematizes contributions on vocational training processes and career guidance in the stages of human development.   Method: The theoretical approach carried out is based on the application of the systemic-structural-functional scientific method. From this perspective, the logic or succession of procedures for constructing knowledge in a coherent and rigorous manner is expressed from the General Systems Theory.   Results and Discussion: The achieved theoretical results on the approach performed have been the essential support for the elaboration of regulations; in the projection on the integrated admissions process to the former students’ condition; as well as in the academic monitoring of each student. This constitutes evidence of its applicability in practice.   Research Implications: Practical and theoretical implications of this research are discussed, providing Higher Education institutions with ideas for integrating universities with preceding educations and the production and services sector.   Originality/Value: The novelty of this paper lies in the idea of a macro process that systematizes career guidance as a source of professional motivation in the different stages of personality development.

Analisis Kebutuhan Media Bimbingan Karier Kesiapan Kerja Di Era Digital Bagi Siswa SMK

Vocational High School (SMK) is a level of education that aims to prepare students to enter the world of work. However, data provided by Central Bureau of Statistics shows that SMK graduates are ranked first in the open unemployment rate in 2021 and 2022. This study aims to determine students’ needs for work readiness career guidance media, especially in the digital area. The research subjects were counseling teacher and grade XI students at SMKN 3 Makassar city. The type of research is the first step of the research and development (R&D) model of Borg and Gall. The research instruments used were interviews and questionnaires. The data analysis techniques used are descriptive data analysis and quantitative data analysis. The results showed that most students will look for work after graduation from SMK but there is no career guidance media about job readiness at school. The media needed is a digital based career guidance media with an attractive design

Leveraging the stages of learning to optimize pre-employment transition service delivery

Pre-employment transition services (Pre-ETS) is a specific set of services outlined in Section 113 of the Rehabilitation Act as amended by WIOA, with the purpose of expanding career exploration, postsecondary training options, and the development of career readiness skills for students with disabilities through work-based learning experiences. Pre-ETS aims to facilitate the transition of students with disabilities from school to adulthood by equipping them with the essential skills, knowledge, and experiences needed to thrive in the workforce. However, there is great variability across states on how vocational rehabilitation agencies work with State and local education agencies to coordinate and sequence services to facilitate the development of a more comprehensive career pathway for students with disabilities. This paper provides insights and applicable guidance for practitioners seeking to optimize Pre-ETS by aligning interventions with the phases of learning. Grounded in experiential knowledge and effective practices for secondary transition and Pre-ETS, this paper offers a strategic framework designed to enhance the effectiveness of transition services for diverse individuals preparing to enter the workforce. It aims to equip practitioners with a toolbox of effective strategies and approaches, fostering a more dynamic and personalized delivery of Pre-ETS. By offering practical guidance on navigating the learning phases, this paper seeks to empower practitioners to create more impactful and tailored programs, ultimately enhancing the workforce readiness of individuals with diverse abilities.

The Role of Media Education in Shaping the Conscious Choice of a Future Profession Among Young Pople in the era of Information Glut

In a rapidly developing information society, and especially in the context of the implementation of the request for participation in the development of digital transformations, young people have to face a huge amount of information, find their place in which it becomes increasingly difficult to determine their future profession. Traditional approaches to career guidance based on testing and collecting information about various professions often prove to be insufficiently effective due to an overabundance and fragmentation of data. Despite the growing number of school graduates choosing to study in the secondary vocational education system (hereinafter referred to as vocational education), almost a third of potential applicants have no idea what they will do after graduating from a professional educational organization, while half would like to change the direction of training already at the training stage. This and other factors necessitate the improvement of existing mechanisms for the professional orientation of children and youth. In this situation, media education comes to the fore as a means to navigate the information field, critically evaluate information sources and distinguish reliable facts from manipulations and fakes.

The aim of vocational education is to equip students with the skills necessary to be able to compete in the world of work. Vocational education has a priority, namely equipping students with knowledge, skills, and a work ethic so that they are able to compete in the current job market. This journal article will discuss the implementation of career education development strategies in vocational schools. This research uses a qualitative methodology known as a literature review approach. Based on research findings, career guidance programs in secondary schools provide balanced knowledge and experience to help students develop self-awareness, learn various career paths, improve decision-making abilities, and ultimately make career decisions independently. To encourage future professional fulfillment and success, vocational school and career guidance programs encourage independent career decision-making.

Shaping Future: Exploring Career Adaptability of Indonesian Students

In an era of increasingly diverse, fragmented, and global careers, the ability to adapt and navigate one's development in the context of work is crucial. Career adaptability is a psychosocial construct that indicates an individual's readiness and resources to cope with current and future vocational development tasks, job transitions, and personal traumas. This study aims to examine the profile of career adaptability among students in Indonesia across various dimensions. This study employs a descriptive method and a saturated sample of 369 eleventh-grade students. The instrument used is the Career Maturity Inventory from-C (CMI-C) developed by Savickas & Porfeli (2011). The findings reveal (1) 58.5% of the students are in the mature category for career choice readiness, indicating that the students are adaptive in making career decisions and prepared to choose a job; (2) in the dimension of career concern, students are categorized as adaptive, (3) based on the dimensions of career curiosity and career confidence, students are categorized as non-adaptive, (4) based on the career consultation dimension, students are categorized as consultative. This study produces a hypothetical career guidance program to enhance students' career adaptability.

ارائه مدل ساختاری توسعه خلاقیت و نوآوری سازمانی در آموزش و پرورش: نقش خودرهبری، خلاقیت کارکنان، جو خلاقیت و جهت‌گیری نوآورانه در محل کار

زمینه و هدف: خلاقیت و نوآوری از مهم‌ترین عواملی است که می‌تواند به پویایی سازمان‌ها و نهادهای مختلف بخصوص آموزش و پرورش کمک نماید. از این رو پژوهش در این حیطه حائز اهمیت است و لذا هدف از پژوهش حاضر بررسی توسعه خلاقیت و نوآوری سازمانی در آموزش و پرورش با ارائه مدل ساختاری خودرهبری، خلاقیت کارکنان، جو خلاقیت و جهت‌گیری نوآورانه در محل کار بود.روش: این پژوهش توصیفی از نوع همبستگی به روش تحلیل مسیر بود. جامعه آماری شامل کلیه کارکنان آموزش و پرورش (معلمان، مدیران، کارکنان اداری و ...) شهرستان دهدشت در سال 1403 بود که از بین آن‌ها تعداد 300 نفر به روش نمونه‌گیری خوشه‌ای تصادفی انتخاب شدند. همه آن‌ها پرسشنامه‌های جهت‌گیری نوآورانه ونگتادا و رایس (2008)، خلاقیت کارکنان لی و همکاران (2014)، جو خلاقیت ونگتادا و رایس (2008) و خود رهبری هاتون و همکاران (2012) را تکمیل کردند. برای تجزیه و تحلیل داده‌ها از روش‌های همبستگی پیرسون و تحلیل مسیر به کمک نرم‌افزارهای SPSSV24 و AMOSV24 استفاده شد.یافته‌ها: نتایج نشان داد متغیر خود رهبری با نقش میانجی‌گری جو خلاقیت (216/0) و خلاقیت کارکنان (323/0) اثر معنی‌داری بر جهت‌گیری نوآورانه داشت. همچنین جو خلاقیت با میانجی‌گری خلاقیت کارکنان (136/0) اثر مثبت و معنی‌داری بر جهت‌گیری نوآورانه داشت (01/0>P).نتیجه‌گیری: در نهایت می‌توان گفت مدل ساختاری پژوهش از شاخص‌های برازش مطلوبی برخوردار است و لذا استفاده از این مدل می‌تواند به معلمان، مدیران و متخصصان حوزه تعلیم و تربیت در ارتقای جو خلاقانه، خلاقیت کارکنان و در نتیجه جهت‌گیری نوآورانه در آموزش و پرورش کمک نماید.

Model Layanan Peminatan berdasarkan Potensi Diri, Kondisi Sosiografis dan Perencanaan Karir Siswa SMA/SMK Kota BauBau

The choice of specialization path or subject at school (SMA) is now based more on academic achievement alone, ignoring self-potential and sociographic conditions of students, making it possible for students to be confused about planning the right career choice. Putting aside the conditions of the area where he grows and develops, conditions include ethnic origin, social interactions, family status, kinship relations in the surrounding community, so that in his career he has difficulty planning the right career. The aim of this research is to produce a specialization service model based on personal potential, sociographic conditions and career planning for Baubau City High School students. The research uses a mixed method approach and is analyzed based on research and development. The research subjects were 127 students and 10 guidance and counseling teachers, taken using a purposive sampling technique plus 2 guidance and counseling experts spread across 13 high schools and vocational schools in Baubau. Data collection uses a specialization scale combined with sociographic conditions and career planning. The model was prepared hypothetically and limited trials from ten stages were reduced to 6 research stages to formulate an appropriate student specialization service model based on personal potential, learning achievement, and sociographic conditions and career planning. The model will have 9 components and effectively determine and provide recommendations for specialization based on personal potential, sociographic conditions, and the direction of students' future career planning more effectively and efficiently.

A Study of Strategies for Improving the Professional Identity of Higher Education Students

The purpose of this study is to explore effective strategies to enhance the professional identity of higher vocational students. Relevant experimental data were collected through questionnaires and interviews with students in Chongqing Hailian Vocational Technical College. The results of the analysis show that factors such as teaching methods, practical teaching, career planning guidance and campus culture have an important impact on the professional identity of higher vocational students. Based on this, a series of targeted enhancement strategies are proposed to improve the professional identity of higher vocational students and promote their professional learning and career development.

Traditional or modern parents: The nuclear family and decision-making processes of students in contemporary China

This article approaches educational and vocational career in contemporary China. Since 2012 the Chinese government has committed to a model for the development of individual’s career, where the decision-making of students should be guided by universalistic criteria. However, specific aspects and values of Chinese society must be considered while evaluating this model. While doing that through a questionnaire based on the concepts of professional educational guidance, cultural capital, economic capital, and social capital, we propose patterns of parental influence on children in educational and career guidance and a scale to measure them. We conclude that the family plays out a central role in what concerns vocational guidance of their children, but Chinese values may not specifically explain that interference.

Introduction. The quality and effectiveness of career guidance work depend on the level of career guidance competence of educators. Therefore, vocational education teachers need to be well-oriented in the modern world of professions and methods of career guidance. In this regard, there is a necessity to develop future educators' readiness for career guidance. This requires the development and implementation of effective pedagogical conditions that will contribute to successfully fostering such readiness. Purpose ‒ justification of a set of pedagogical conditions that ensure the formation of readiness among future vocational education teachers for career guidance work with high school students.. Methods: analysis of practical problem, recent researches and publications; generalization of the results of the study. Results. It is emphasized that, to successfully fulfill the social responsibility of familiarizing high school students with modern professions, a teacher must possess specific career guidance knowledge and skills that enhance the effectiveness of this work. At the same time, it is noted that students in pedagogical specialties often lack sufficient mastery of educational materials related to future career guidance activities, complicating their preparation for this task. The simultaneous implementation of effective pedagogical conditions in the educational process contributes not only to the qualitative content and methodological enrichment but also to the optimization of the training process for future vocational education teachers for career guidance activities. It is demonstrated that such pedagogical conditions are aimed at developing career-oriented thinking, supporting the professional and personal formation of future teachers, and equipping them with the necessary competence-based knowledge and practical skills for effective career guidance work. Originality.The readiness of future vocational education teachers for career guidance activities with high school students is examined through the lens of the professional training system. Conclusion. The formation of the professional orientation competence of vocational education teachers is achieved under the following conditions: the implementation of innovative technologies in the educational process; ensuring students understand the importance of vocational orientation work; combining the efforts of teachers from all disciplines; the realization of tasks of a vocational orientation nature during pedagogical practice; and involving students in organizing collaborative work between schools, vocational orientation organizations, and vocational education institutions Keywords: future vocational education teachers, readiness for career guidance activities, pedagogical conditions, professional training.

Construction and initial validation of the scale “Goals for Future Design of the 2030 Agenda”

Sustainable development goals are used as guidance for future career and life design. The importance of including young people in the sustainability process is recognized also by recent vocational guidance literature. Nevertheless, the assessment of the Sustainable Development Goals itself presents a challenge. For these reasons, we validated a specific assessment instrument to investigate adolescents’ propensity to point out how much each of the 2030 Agenda goals for sustainable development may affect their future design. This article reports the development and psychometric requisites of the “Goals for Future Design of the 2030 Agenda.” The scale recalls the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The study involved 554 high school students. Initial exploratory factor analysis factorial structure showed a four-factor structure of the 17-item scale: (1) social/health, (2) environment/nature, (3) human rights/equal economic development, and (4) policy and democracy. A single-factor second-order structure also emerged from the confirmatory factor analysis. The results support the use of the scale in vocational guidance and career counselling activities to promote adolescents’ life design in a sustainable and inclusive way.

تاثیر ارتباط سازمانی بر عملکرد زنجیره ارزش گوشت گوسفند در استان لرستان

ارتباطات صحیح بین سازمان‌ها و مراکز تولیدی منجر به افزایش فرصت‌های شغلی، عملکرد تولید و کاهش اتلاف هزینه‌های ناشی از دوباره‌کاری و کم‌کاری‌های مرتبط‌ می‌شود. از این رو در پژوهش حاضر علاوه بر شناخت سازمان و صنف‌ها و وظایف آن‎ها در فرآیند زنجیره ارزش گوشت گوسفند در استان لرستان به بررسی میزان و چگونگی ارتباط سازمان‌ها با دامدار و تاثیر آن بر عملکرد زنجیره ارزش گوشت گوسفند در استان پرداخته شد سازمان‌های اصلی مورد مطالعه شامل جهاد کشاورزی، مرکز تحقیقات کشاورزی و منابع طبیعی و موسسات اعتباری بود. پارادایم اصلی تحقیق آمیخته بود. به منظور سنجش میزان ارتباط و اهمیت ارتباط دامداران با هر کدام از سازمان‌های مورد بررسی نمره از 1 تا 10 در نظر گرفته شد. عملکرد زنجیره ارزش به وسیله شاخص‌های عملکرد اقتصادی، اجتماعی، زیست محیطی و فنی با مرور ادبیات و بررسی دیدگاه متخصصان، شاخص‌سازی و وزن‌دهی رتبه‌ای تدوین گردید. در بخش کیفی به صورت هدفمند و گلوله‌برفی 43 دامدار و کارشناس و در بخش کمی با روش خوشه‌ای 382 دامدار انتخاب و مورد بررسی قرار گرفتند. نتایج تحقیق نشان داد بیش از نیمی از دامداران (9/50 درصد) ارتباط ضعیفی با سازمان‌ها در زنجیره ارزش گوشت گوسفند داشتند. این در حالی است که ارتباط موثر سازمان‌های مذکور (به جز صنف دلالان) تاثیر مثبت و معنی‌داری بر عملکرد زنجیره ارزش گوشت گوسفند داشت. دامدارهایی که به طور مستقیم با موسسات اعتباری، معاونت بهبود تولیدات دامی و اداره دامپزشکی در ارتباط بودند عملکرد بیشتری داشتند نسبت به کسانی که به طور غیرمستقیم با این سازمان‌ها در ارتباط بودند.

هر سازمانی به دنبال حفظ دارایی­های با ارزش خود است تا از این طریق بقا و بالندگی خود را تضمین کند. ارزشمندترین دارایی هر سازمان  نیروی انسانی آن است، بنابراین ضروری است تا کاهش چالش­ها و افزایش شکوفایی آنان مورد توجه قرار گیرد؛ بر این اساس هدف پژوهش حاضر تعیین اثربخشی برنامه آموزش بهبودکیفیت زندگی کاری بر تعارض کار-خانواده و خودشکوفایی کارکنان بر اساس نقش تعدیل­گر امنیت شغلی ادراک شده و خوش بینی  بود. جامعه آماری پژوهش را کلیه کارکنان بخش تولید کارخانه تولیدی و صنعتی نهان­ گل بروجن در بر می ­­گرفتند که از میان آنها 30 نفر بر اساس شیوه­ نمونه­ گیری تصادفی در قالب دو گروه آزمایش و کنترل در مطالعه شرکت یافتند. ابزارهای گردآوری داده­ ها شامل مقیاس تعارض کار-خانواه کاربالو-پنلا و همکاران(2018)، پرسشنامه امنیت شغلی ادراک شده  اولدهام (1986) به نقل از گُرتزکی (2016)، مقیاس خودشکوفایی فاراسی و کانیستراسی (2015) و آزمون جهت­ گیری به زندگی(شییر و کارور، 1985) بود. داده ­های بدست آمده از طریق روش تحلیل واریانس با اندازه های مکرر، تحلیل مسیر، رگرسیون خطی و الگوی معادلات ساختاری  با استفاده از نرم­ افزارهای SPSS24 و AMOS مورد تجزیه و تحلیل قرار گرفت. نتایج بدست آمده نشان داد که برنامه آموزش بهبود کیفیت زندگی کاری در کارکنانی که دارای احساس امنیت شغلی متوسط و پایینی هستند باعث کاهش تعارض کار-خانواده شده و از سوی دیگر باعث افزایش خودشکوفایی در کارکنانی که خوش­بینی بیشتری دارند، می ­گردد.
