We review the alternative proposals introduced recently in the literature to update the standard formula to estimate the uncertainty on the mean of repeated measurements, and we compare their performances on synthetic examples with normal and non-normal error distributions.

This study aimed to describe the process of instilling character in online learning through the Living Values Education Program (LVEP). The type of research used in this research was literature study. The data in this study were secondary data from books, journals, and other relevant sources. Data analysis in this literature review was content analysis. The results showed that the LVEP which included the values of life such as the value of cooperation, freedom, happiness, honesty, humility, love, peace, respect, responsibility, simplicity, tolerance, and unity was one of the effective programs in instilling character in online learning. Living ValuesEducation Program (LVEP) in online learning included activities of reflection, imagination, dialogue, communication, creation, writing, expressing oneself through art, and playing with the values taught. LVEP in online learning was able to help and encourage students to access their creativity and talents to explore and develop universal values. LVEP made children more self-confident, more appreciative of others and demonstrated positive social and personal skills improvement, even LVEP had a positive influence on the character development of students.

PurposeIn 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law by President George H.W. Bush. This law was intended to prevent discrimination against people with disabilities (PWD) in employment, public accommodations, transportation and other areas of life. However, the degree of impact in these sectors has not been studied in tandem. Addressing these sectors together is the primary objective of this paper.Design/methodology/approachResults are analyzed and presented regarding ADA impacts as well as which organizations provide advocacy services in support to PWD from survey data collected from 1,582 US participants in 2010 (N = 866) and 2015 (N = 716).FindingsResults suggest that the ADA has had a positive impact on PWD, yet this law favorably affects people of certain demographics more than others. Moreover, people with and without disabilities have differing opinions on the impact of the ADA, suggesting that what is conveyed to the public and the impact of the ADA on real-life outcomes of PWD are sometimes misaligned.Originality/valueThe present study helps add to the current body of knowledge on the impact of the ADA by providing perspectives on advocacy services and impacts from a diverse set of PWD and their counterparts without disabilities.

Non-selective cytotoxic therapy of cancer is effective, acting harmfully for a host. Legal deep lymphocytopenia at conventional cytotoxic therapy, high risk of new malignancies after it, spreading of malignant cells through favorite lymph nodes, a restriction of immunocytes activity inside tumor at anti-angiogenic treatment does not feet the idea of host immune defense against spontaneous cancer. To understand these theoretical inconsistencies we discussed the development of a tumor and its microvessels, gradual exhaustion of hematopoietic stem cell number in blood and arising of cancer cachexia, ratio of infectious morbidity and cancer mortality in their interrelation, using an experimental, clinical data and population statistics. Objectives: This study focuses on the off-normal occurrence between the increased FX reserves and the decreased Funds Outstanding for FX in China after 8.11 exchange rate reforms, and discusses the inducement induced between the decrease of ESS of Commercial Banks and the increased FX reserves. Methods/Statistical Analysis: This study uses the data of HIBOR and SHIBOR, the data of Spot and NDF from 2014-2017 as independent variables, approach the correlation between ESS and the four factors above by Grainger Causality Test, and then by the VAR Modal for re-test. Discusses the reason based on the reality. Findings: This study finding is that the expectations for RMB exchange rate leads to the currency hedging, which is also the reason for the ESS deficit. But this result can’t give an answer to the increased FX reserves for that time. Application/Improvements: This study explores the incentives why the banking settlement and sale transferred from surplus to deficit based on the data of banking settlement and sale, the interest rate data of SHIBOR and HIBOR, the exchange rate data of Spot onshore and NDF offshore from 2014 to 2017, and demonstrate such a statement that "the FX assets are shifted from central bank holdings to business and individuals holdings". *Author for correspondence
This study was conducted to identify the relationship between safety and health activities and nursing performance and the influencing factors to nursing performance in clinical nurses. The participants was 145 clinical nurses working at the general wards and ICU (Intensive Care Unit) of an advanced general hospital. Safety and health activities and nursing performance were measured using a WICN (Work Improvement in Clinical Nursing) and Nursing performance measurement tool, consisting 16 items and 17 items separately in a 5-likert scale. Data was collected using a structured survey from Aug. 1st to Aug. 20th, 2017 and analyzed using SPSS 21.0. The mean score of nurses’ safety and health activities was 3.27±0.47 and nursing performance was 3.94±0.45. Positive relationship was identified between safety and health activities and nursing performance (r=.381, p<.001). Nursing performance was influenced to safety and health activities and work experience. Nursing performance could be explained 31% with those factors (F=29.64, p<.001). In order to increase the nursing performance of clinical nurses, it is necessary to raise the level of safety and health activities. Therefore, it is recommend to apply a WICN tool kit action checklist in the educational training of clinical nurses.
We examined the factor structure of the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) with 531 students at 6 universities in Nanjing to evaluate its applicability as a measure of the anxiety of Chinese postgraduates. We performed exploratory factor analysis to identify the potential factor structure of the BAI. We referred to confirmatory factor analysis models from previous studies for model fit. All 7 competing models fitted well with the students' data. The 4-factor structure proposed by Wetherell and Areán yielded the best fit. Results indicate that the BAI has satisfactory reliability and validity among Chinese postgraduates.
