Quantum-inspired modeling of social impact in complex networks with artificial intelligent agents

Abstract We propose a quantum-inspired framework for modeling open distributed intelligence systems (DISs) comprising natural intelligence agents (NIAs) and artificial intelligence agents (AIAs) that interact with each other. Each NIA – AIA pair represents a user and their digital assistant – an avatar implemented as an agent based on a large language model (LLM). The AIAs are interconnected through a complex, scale-free network and communicate with users and one another in real time. We focus on the social impact and evolution of users’ emotional states, which we model as simple, two-level cognitive systems shaped by interactions with AIAs and external information sources. Within this framework, the AIAs adiabatically follow the NIAs, mediating emotional influence by disseminating information and propagating user emotions throughout the system. Building on Mehrabian’s Pleasure–Arousal–Dominance (PAD) model and Wundt’s three-dimensional theory of emotions, we put forward a quantum-like representation of affective states on an emotional sphere. We demonstrate that the arousal component is governed by the interplay between external informational inputs and individual personality traits. This leads to the emergence of limiting cycles in emotional dynamics. Assuming weak AIA – AIA coupling, we identify two distinct regimes of affective behavior. In the first regime, coherent NIA – AIA interaction supports emotional heterogeneity and individual differentiation across the network. In the second regime, shared exposure to external information drives synchronized emotional responses, resulting in a macroscopic affective field that captures collective emotional dynamics. Furthermore, we demonstrate that the network’s structural properties, particularly node degree correlations, play a role analogous to quantum correlations in ensembles of two-level physical systems; a quantum-like superradiant state corresponds to the network-induced collective emotional activation of NIAs within a DIS. These findings advance our understanding of affective dynamics and emergent social phenomena in hybrid human–AI ecosystems.

The Development History and Frontier Paradigms of Industrial Visual Quality Inspection Empowered by Deep Learning

Industrial visual quality inspection technology has achieved breakthroughs in four technological levels: manual inspection, traditional machine vision, deep learning, and multimodal intelligence. It has gradually shed human dependence and moved towards intelligent, autonomous decision-making. Traditional methods, constrained by human subjectivity and rigid rules, are unable to cope with the complexity of industrial scenarios. A deep learning solution combining convolutional neural networks with an object detection framework enables automatic defect identification and classification, making defect detection more accurate and faster. Multimodal solutions utilize composite data inputs, including visual features and acoustic cues, to optimize system fault tolerance. Generative AI effectively compensates for the lack of rare defect samples. Lightweight models and edge-cloud collaboration facilitate the implementation of technology in real- time environments. Industrial quality inspection systems are forming a tightly integrated intelligent closed-loop system of “perception- understanding-action,” achieving a systematic upgrade from passive response to active intervention. By summarizing the technological evolution and key innovations, this paper seeks to promote deeper integration of AI and industrial inspection, paving the way for more adaptive and autonomous quality control systems.

Research on the Characteristic Identification and Multidimensional Dynamic Evolution of Urban–Rural Fringe in Harbin, China

The urban–rural fringe, serving as a frontier space and protective barrier for urban–rural factor circulation, is a complex area marked by significant human–land conflicts. Therefore, scientifically identifying and dynamically monitoring the urban–rural fringe is crucial for its integrated development and spatial governance. In this context, this paper constructs an information entropy model using land use data, combined with the central gravitational agglomeration method, to accurately identify the evolution of Harbin’s urban–rural fringe over the past 40 years. The research reveals that Harbin’s urban–rural fringe exhibits a distinct circling pattern, with spatial morphology changes characterized as “low-speed spreading—jumping expansion—internal dissimilarity”, allowing for improved identification of its three types: stable, expanding, and degrading. The study also tracks the scale of the urban–rural fringe in Harbin with three types of stable, expanding, and degrading urban–rural fringe. Drawing on previous research, we visualize the fringe area’s functional spatial positioning, showing its dominant function shifting from a production–ecological composite to a production–life–ecological coordinated function. Concurrently, the study’s findings, alongside Harbin’s socioeconomic development, indicate that the urban–rural fringe’s evolution is driven by economic, policy, and environmental factors. Based on the multi-dimensional research outcomes, we conclude that the evolution of Harbin’s urban–rural fringe can be divided into three stages: a slow gestation period (1980–1990), a rapid development period (1990–2010), and a stable reconstruction phase (2010–2020). In the initial phase, urban and rural development is minimal; during the second phase, the trend of urban expansion is significant, and the urban–rural fringe is rapidly shifted to the city; and in the latter stage, urban and rural elements are stabilized and coordinated, and urban and rural areas are realized to be developed and reconstructed as one. This paper provides a scientific basis for understanding the dynamic evolution of the urban–rural fringe in Harbin City and is an important reference for future territorial spatial planning and development.

Investigation on the coupling coordination of pseudo human settlements in the urban agglomerations in eastern China

Abstract In the information age, digital information technology has gradually become a new quality of productivity to improve international competitiveness, and the status and importance of the pseudo human settlements(PHS) constructed by digital and information has been increasing in the human settlements(HS) system. In this context, exploring the coupling coordination of the internal systems of the PHS provides a theoretical basis for promoting the comprehensive improvement of the quality of the HS in the urban agglomerations, provides a theoretical reference for rationally interpreting the new type of human-land relationship in the information age, and provide a new perspective for the study of the human settlements geography. Currently, research on PHS is in its nascent stages, therefore, we construct a theoretical framework for the coupling coordination of the “three states” of the HS, takes the internal system of PHS as the entry point, empirically analyze the spatiotemporal characteristics of the PHS coupling coordination degree within urban agglomerations in eastern China and the driving factors by using the coupling coordination degree, spatial autocorrelation, the center of gravity and the ellipse of the standard deviation, and geo-detector models. Research shows: (1) Time course: exhibits an upward “inverted L” trend. (2) Spatial pattern: exhibits a general spatial pattern of “high in the north and low in the south”. (3) Spatial correlation: shows a spatially positively correlated clustering trend. (4) Spatial evolution: demonstrates a decentralized pattern of migration from the northeast to the southwest, indicating that the coupling coordination grows faster in the southwest than in the northeast. (5) Driving factor: the development of coupling coordination degree of PHS results from multiple factors and systems. This research provides theoretical support for promoting the comprehensive improvement of the quality of PHS in the urban agglomerations in eastern China, and offers scientific reference for the construction of PHS in other regions of China.

SARS-CoV-2 evolution in a patient with secondary B-cell immunodeficiency: A clinical case

The article highlights the course of long-term SARS-CoV-2 infection in a patient with a secondary immunodeficiency developed with B-cell-depleting therapy of the underlying disease. Analysis of the intrapatient virus evolution revealed an inpatient S:G75A mutation that alters the 72GTNGTKR78 motif of the S-protein, with a possible role in binding to alternative cellular receptors. Therapy with a ready-made COVID-19-globulin preparation (native human immunoglobulin G (IgG) derived from the plasma of convalescent COVID-19-patients) resulted in rapid improvement of the patient’s condition, fast, and stable elimination of the virus, and passive immunization of the patient for at least 30 days. The results suggest the use of products containing neutralizing antibodies opens new prospects for treatment algorithms for patients with persistent coronavirus infection, as well as for passive immunization schemes for patients with a presumably reduced specific response to vaccination.

Evolution of the Concept of Public Morality and Principles of its criminalization: Philosophical and Human Rights Approaches

AbstractMany codes advocating public morals have been challenged during recent years. The decriminalization of immoral acts, as one of the most important aspects of modern criminal law, has been rooted in the arguments of scholars such as John Stuart Mill and Joel Feinberg on the state intervention in individual liberties. These scholars by developing freedom restricting principles have advocated a kind of minimalist criminalization in the sphere of public morality. Moreover, the international human rights law system, in an effort to balance cultural diversity and universal values, has endorsed public morality as one of the permissible restrictions on unrestricted civil-political liberties. In fact, following developments in the performance of governments in the field of public morality, the international human rights system, by providing a progressive interpretation of the principles governing criminalization, reject the legal moralism has attempted to defend a kind of rights-oriented criminalization that protects the rights and freedoms of vulnerable people.

Consequences of Anthropic Actions in Cullera Bay (Spain)

Urbanization and anthropogenic activities have generated significant imbalances in coastal areas. This study analysed the shoreline evolution of the Bay of Cullera (Spain), characterized by strong urban and tourist pressure and with important human interventions during the last century. The evolution of the shoreline was analysed using 60 years of aerial images since the 1950s of the seabed, the maritime climate and the distribution of sediment, as well as anthropogenic actions, such as urban development or the channelling of the Júcar River through the integration of information in a geographical information system (GIS). The results showed: (i) Changes in land-use, in which the substitution of the crop and mountain areas by urban areas was mainly observed. (ii) A general increase in the beach area, although there were important periods of erosion in some points due to anthropic actions. (iii) A significant decrease in the median sediment size in the whole bay since 1987, with a current D<sub>50</sub> of 0.125–0.180 mm. The analysis carried out has made it possible to identify trends in coastal accumulation and regression in the different sections of the sector, as well as to demonstrate the usefulness and advantages of GIS.

CaRMS at 50: Making the match for medical education

Entry into postgraduate medical training in Canada is facilitated through a national application and matching system which establishes matches between applicants and training programs based on each party’s stated preferences. Health human resource planning in Canada involves many factors, influences, and decisions. The complexity of the system is due, in part, to the fact that much of the decision making is dispersed among provincial, territorial, regional, and federal jurisdictions, making a collaborative national approach a challenge. The national postgraduate application and matching system is one of the few aspects of the health human resources continuum that is truly pan-Canadian. This article examines the evolution of the application and matching system over the past half century, the values that underpin it, and CaRMS' role in the process.
