Integrating an ISO30401-compliant Knowledge management system with existing business processes of an organization
Aline Belloni, Patrick Prieur
Business process modeling is used by most organizations as an essential framework for ensuring efficiency and effectiveness of the work and workflow performed by its employees and for ensuring the alignment of such work with its strategic goals. For organizations that are compliant or near-compliant with ISO 9001, this approach involves the detailed mapping of processes, sub-processes, activities, and tasks. ISO30401 is a Management System Standard, introduced in 2018, establishing universal requirements for the set up of a Knowledge Management System in an organization. As ``ISO30401 implementers'' we regularly face the challenge of explaining our clients how the knowledge development, transformation and conveyances activities depicted in ISO30401 do integrate with existing operational processes. This article recaps process modelling principles in the context of ISO9001 and explores, based on our experience, how an ISO30401-compliant Knowledge Management System (KMS) entwines with all other processes of an Integrated Management System and in particular how it can be implemented by deploying the mechanisms of the SECI model through the steps of PDCA cycles.
A Pharmacy Benefit Manager Insurance Business Model
Lawrence W. Abrams
It is time to move on from attempts to make the pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) reseller business model more transparent. Time and time again the Big 3 PBMs have developed opaque alternatives to piece-meal 100% pass-through mandates. Time and time again PBMs have demonstrated expertise in finding loopholes in state government disclosure laws. The purpose of this paper is to provide quantitative estimates of two transparent insurance business models as a solution to the PBM agency issue. The key parameter used is an 8% gross profit margin figure disclosed by the Big 3 PBMs themselves. Based on reported drug trend delivered to plans, we use a $1,200 to $1,500 per member per year (PMPY) as the range for this key performance indicator (KPI). We propose that discussions of PBM insurance business models start with the following figures: (1) a fixed premium model with medical loss ratio ranging from 92% to 85%; (2) a fee-for-service model ranging from $96 to $180 PMPY with risk sharing of deviations from a contracted PMPY delivered drug spend.
Optimising task allocation to balance business goals and worker well-being for financial service workforces
Chris Duckworth, Zlatko Zlatev, James Sciberras
et al.
Purpose: Financial service companies manage huge volumes of data which requires timely error identification and resolution. The associated tasks to resolve these errors frequently put financial analyst workforces under significant pressure leading to resourcing challenges and increased business risk. To address this challenge, we introduce a formal task allocation model which considers both business orientated goals and analyst well-being. Methodology: We use a Genetic Algorithm (GA) to optimise our formal model to allocate and schedule tasks to analysts. The proposed solution is able to allocate tasks to analysts with appropriate skills and experience, while taking into account staff well-being objectives. Findings: We demonstrate our GA model outperforms baseline heuristics, current working practice, and is applicable to a range of single and multi-objective real-world scenarios. We discuss the potential for metaheuristics (such as GAs) to efficiently find sufficiently good allocations which can provide recommendations for financial service managers in-the-loop. Originality: A key gap in existing allocation and scheduling models, is fully considering worker well-being. This paper presents an allocation model which explicitly optimises for well-being while still improving on current working practice for efficiency.

Identification of Energy Management Configuration Concepts from a Set of Pareto-optimal Solutions
Felix Lanfermann, Qiqi Liu, Yaochu Jin
et al.
Implementing resource efficient energy management systems in facilities and buildings becomes increasingly important in the transformation to a sustainable society. However, selecting a suitable configuration based on multiple, typically conflicting objectives, such as cost, robustness with respect to uncertainty of grid operation, or renewable energy utilization, is a difficult multi-criteria decision making problem. The recently developed concept identification technique can facilitate a decision maker by sorting configuration options into semantically meaningful groups (concepts). In this process, the partitioning of the objectives and design parameters into different sets (called description spaces) is a very important step. In this study we focus on utilizing the concept identification technique for finding relevant and viable energy management configurations from a very large data set of Pareto-optimal solutions. The data set consists of 20000 realistic Pareto-optimal building energy management configurations generated by a many-objective evolutionary optimization of a high quality Digital Twin energy management simulator. We analyze how the choice of description spaces, i.e., the partitioning of the objectives and parameters, impacts the type of information that can be extracted. We show that the decision maker can introduce constraints and biases into that process to meet expectations and preferences. The iterative approach presented in this work allows for the generation of valuable insights into trade-offs between specific objectives, and constitutes a powerful and flexible tool to support the decision making process when designing large and complex energy management systems.

Strategic network: Managerial myopia point of view
Mohammed Hussein Manhal, Abbas Al-khalidi , Zaina Mustafa Mahmoud Hamad
The strategic network of any organization plays a significant role in the industry. Therefore, companies must study the factors hindering the construction of this network. Companies need a strategic network of alliances and partnerships to complement each other and constitute a superpower that competitors cannot overcome. This study explores the size of obstacles posed by managerial myopia in weakening the ability of organizations to build their strategic network. Current paper tests the influential relationship between managerial myopia and the ability of organizations to build their strategic network in one of the most important institutions within the oil sector. Results show a negative impact of managerial short-sightedness on an organization's ability to build a successful strategic network that enables it to coexist within an atmosphere of competition. This study recommends that organizations adopt the concept of managerial hyperopia as a valuable tool for organizational success.

Access Service Records Based Trust Management Scheme for Internet of Things
Xuefei Li, Ru Li
The distributed structure of the Internet of things has gradually replaced the centralized structure because of its scalability, security, and single point of failure. The huge scale of information recording of the Internet of things brings challenges and opportunities to the trust management of the Internet of things. Through the analysis of a variety of existing trust management schemes, this paper proposes a unified data structure for distributed access service records, TokenChain, in which triple DES data encryption is used to ensure privacy and traceability, to achieve a unified trust management scheme. Based on TokenChain, a three-tier trust management architecture (TokenChain-Based Trust Management, TBTM) is implemented in the data layer, computing layer, and control layer. Trust evaluation is affected by four statistics and finally converges to a real value under certain conditions. Based on TBTM, we carry out theoretical analysis, malicious attack resistance, simulation, and performance evaluation in various complex scenarios. The results show that TBTM satisfies service prediction, global trust analysis, high security, and excellent performance in multi-domain complex scenarios. Compared with the existing trust management schemes, TBTM realizes cross-scenario interaction and two-way trust management, and simultaneously meets the characteristics of traceability, tamper-proof, attack resistance, and distribution. Finally, this paper is summarized.
Transformer-based Personalized Attention Mechanism for Medical Images with Clinical Records
Yusuke Takagi, Noriaki Hashimoto, Hiroki Masuda
et al.
In medical image diagnosis, identifying the attention region, i.e., the region of interest for which the diagnosis is made, is an important task. Various methods have been developed to automatically identify target regions from given medical images. However, in actual medical practice, the diagnosis is made based not only on the images but also on a variety of clinical records. This means that pathologists examine medical images with some prior knowledge of the patients and that the attention regions may change depending on the clinical records. In this study, we propose a method called the Personalized Attention Mechanism (PersAM), by which the attention regions in medical images are adaptively changed according to the clinical records. The primary idea of the PersAM method is to encode the relationships between the medical images and clinical records using a variant of Transformer architecture. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the PersAM method, we applied it to a large-scale digital pathology problem of identifying the subtypes of 842 malignant lymphoma patients based on their gigapixel whole slide images and clinical records.
Blockchain for Business Process Enactment: A Taxonomy and Systematic Literature Review
Fabian Stiehle, Ingo Weber
Blockchain has been proposed to facilitate the enactment of interorganisational business processes. For such processes, blockchain can guarantee the enforcement of rules and the integrity of execution traces - without the need for a centralised trusted party. However, the enactment of interorganisational processes pose manifold challenges. In this work, we ask what answers the research field offers in response to those challenges. To do so, we conduct a systematic literature review (SLR). As our guiding question, we investigate the guarantees and capabilities of blockchain-based enactment approaches. Based on resulting empirical evidence, we develop a taxonomy for blockchain-based enactment. We find that a wide range of approaches support traceability and correctness; however, research focusing on flexibility and scalability remains nascent. For all challenges, we point towards future research opportunities.

Dissension or consensus? Management and Business Research in Latin America and the Caribbean
Julian D. Cortes
This study presents longitudinal evidence on the dissension of Management and Business Research (MBR) in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). It looks after intellectual bridges linking clusters among such dissension. It was implemented a coword network analysis to a sample of 12,000+ articles published by authors from LAC during 1998-2017. Structural network scores showed an increasing number of keywords and mean degree but decreasing modularity and density. The intellectual bridges were those of the cluster formed by disciplines/fields that tend toward consensus (e.g., mathematical models) and not by core MBR subjects (e.g., strategic planning).

Handling Concept Drift for Predictions in Business Process Mining
Lucas Baier, Josua Reimold, Niklas Kühl
Predictive services nowadays play an important role across all business sectors. However, deployed machine learning models are challenged by changing data streams over time which is described as concept drift. Prediction quality of models can be largely influenced by this phenomenon. Therefore, concept drift is usually handled by retraining of the model. However, current research lacks a recommendation which data should be selected for the retraining of the machine learning model. Therefore, we systematically analyze different data selection strategies in this work. Subsequently, we instantiate our findings on a use case in process mining which is strongly affected by concept drift. We can show that we can improve accuracy from 0.5400 to 0.7010 with concept drift handling. Furthermore, we depict the effects of the different data selection strategies.
Cultural Events and Public Perception of ”Green Principles”
Andrei BĂDIN
The major differences that exist in the behaviour of consumers, the
commercial practices and the entrepreneurial practices represent an effect of cultural
differences. In the current setting of sustainable and systematized development of world
states it has become necessary to consider the cultural institutions as organizations
which, by their purchasing behaviour based on green principles, by the creation and
transmission of messages with themes, they can stimulate the development of green
conscience of society. The main purpose of this study is the highlighting of the
relationship between the purchasing behaviour based on green principles of
organisations, cultural marketing and development of green culture of society (norms,
values, customs and traditions).
We specify that the organisers represent the public administrations which
respect the green principles of organisation with impact on participants in musicoriented cultural events. In this study we seek whether the message transmitted by
organisers by must-oriented cultural events is received and assures the participants the
development of a green conscience. In this setting, we conducted an opinion poll
regarding the determination of impact of music-oriented cultural events on the increase
of awareness degree of environmental protection by the component of green
procurement of population. The target population was composed of 131 persons,
segmented by age, gender, residence environment, income, and occupation and
training level. Following the opinion poll the main conclusion was that over 80% of
respondents consider important and very important the concept of green procurement
for the environmental protection and sustainable development.
