We introduce and study some general principles and hierarchical properties of expansions and restrictions of structures and their theories The general approach is applied to describe these properties for classes of $ω$-categorical theories and structures, Ehrenfeucht theories and their models, strongly minimal, $ω_1$-theories, and stable ones.

The first-order model theory of modules has been studied for decades. More recently, the model theoretic study of nonelementary classes of modules--especially Abstract Elementary Classes of modules--has produced interesting results. This survey aims to discuss these recent results and give an introduction to the framework of Abstract Elementary Classes for module theorists.

We study definable J-sets for definable groups and compare them with weakly generic sets. We show that the property that J-sets coincide with weakly generic sets is invariant on enough saturated models, and hence a model-theoretical property. We have positive results for superstable commutative groups and some easy examples in pCF. We also give an example for noncoincidence.

We prove that the constructive and intuitionistic variants of the modal logic $\mathsf{KB}$ coincide. This result contrasts with a recent result by Das and Marin, who showed that the constructive and intuitionistic variants of $\mathsf{K}$ do not prove the same diamond-free formulas.

We characterize having Borel isomorphism relation among some weakly minimal trivial theories, namely the examples of families of finite equivalence relations from recent joint work with Laskowski, and tame expansions of crosscutting-equivalence relations. We also prove a dichotomy in Borel complexity for the latter.

We give a notion of Scott rank for separable metric structures based on the definability of the (metric closures of) automorphism orbits in continuous infinitary logic. This is a continuous analogue of work of Montalbán for countable structures. In the process, we prove some results concerning definability, type omitting, and back-and-forth for metric structures.

We obtain bounds on the cardinality of $pcf(\mathfrak{a})$ from instances of weak diamond. Consequently, under mild assumptions there are many singular cardinals of the from $\aleph_δ$ for which $2^{\aleph_δ}<\aleph_{(|δ|^{+3})}$. For example, if every limit cardinal is a strong limit cardinal then this bound holds at a class of singular cardinals.

It is shown that there is $N$ such that there is no algorithm to decide for identities in at most $N$ variables validity in the class of finite modular lattices. This is based on Slobodskoi's result that the Restricted Word Problem is unsolvable for the class of finite groups and relies on Freese's technique of capturing group presentations within free modular lattices.

Background: Diabetic nephropathy is a common cause of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) worldwide and results in tremendous wastage of medical resources. Determining the indicators of diabetic nephropathy, such as sarcopenia, and implementing early interventions to prevent disease progression is crucial. Purpose: The effect of sarcopenia on the risk of severe diabetic nephropathy in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) remains unclear. Patients and Methods: We recruited patients with T2DM and categorized them into two groups, propensity score–matched at a ratio of 1:1, according to whether they had sarcopenia. We subsequently compared the groups’ risk of severe diabetic nephropathy. Results: The matching process yielded a final cohort of 105,166 patients with T2DM (52,583 and 52,583 in the sarcopenia and nonsarcopenia groups, respectively) who were eligible for inclusion in subsequent analyses. According to both the univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses, the adjusted hazard ratio (aHR) (95% confidence interval) of severe diabetic nephropathy for the sarcopenia diabetes group compared with the control group was 1.10 (1.08–1.13; p < 0.001). Conclusion: The patients with T2DM and sarcopenia were at a higher risk of severe diabetic nephropathy than were those without sarcopenia. Our results may serve as a valuable reference for relevant government authorities in establishing health policies to promote early detection of sarcopenia and exercise to help patients with T2DM overcome sarcopenia.

We first present a Priestley-style dualitiy for the classes of algebras that are the algebraic counterpart of some congruential, finitary and filter-distributive logic with theorems. Then we analyze which properties of the dual spaces correspond to properties that the logic might enjoy, like the deduction theorem or the existence of a disjunction.

Monro en «Argument of laughter». [English] This thesis departs from the ideas Henri Bergson put forward in "Le rire". Studying the applications of Bergsonian mechanisms of laughter as tools to further the understanding of a literary work, some comedies and tragedies of Shakespeare will be analyzed with Bergsonian tools in order to test the limits of how useful they are in creating a cohesive language by which that that is laughable may be described.

In this short note we give a proof of Liouville's theorem (every bounded entire complex function is constant) following Peterzil and Starchenko's approach to complex analysis via o-minimality.

I show that propositional intuitionistic logic is complete with respect to an adaptation of Dummett's pragmatist justification procedure. In particular, given a pragmatist justification of an argument, I show how to obtain a natural deduction derivation of the conclusion of the argument from, at most, the same assumptions.

We prove that the problems of representing a finite ordered complemented semigroup or finite lattice-ordered semigroup as an algebra of binary relations over a finite set are undecidable. In the case that complementation is taken with respect to a universal relation, this result can be extended to infinite representations of ordered complemented semigroups.

We consider modal logics of products of neighborhood frames and prove that for any pair $L$ and $L'$ of logics from set $\{S4, D4, D, T\}$ modal logic of products of $L$-neighborhood frames and $L'$-neighborhood frames is the fusion of $L$ and $L'$.
