Manufacturing green products is an important way for sustainable development of enterprises. In view of power shortage of green product innovation caused by the income uncertainty, combined with currently domestic conditions, the development of green products is divided into three stages: the innovation stage, the promotion stage and the popularization stage. Based on the game theory and related optimization approaches, how to make decision by manufactures at every stage are analyzed. The results show that, under the certain internal and external conditions, the innovator of the green product has the first-mover advantage, and the competition among peer manufactures is the important force and effective channel to spread the green products, and thus the consumer welfare is also increasing. The conclusions are helpful to guide the formulation and implementation of manufactures’ green-product development strategy, as well as the cultivation and development of the consumer market.

I use an explanation of Yanomami warfare given by the anthropologist Brian Ferguson as a case study to compare the merits of the causal and unification approaches to explanation. I argue that Ferguson's insistence on explaining actual occurrences and patterns of Yanomami warfare together with his claim that all of his generalizations are statistical raises difficulties for the unification approach, because of its commitment to “deductive chauvinism.” Moreover, I show that there are serious difficulties involved in comparing the “unifying power” of Ferguson's explanations to those of his competitors. I show that the causal approach can provide a rich analysis of Ferguson's explanation while avoiding these difficulties.

Industri permesinan merupakan bagian dari industri manufaktur yang pengerjaannya menggunakan alat potong (cutting tool) untuk memotong benda kerja. Pada saat proses pemotongan pahat akan menghasilkan gaya pemotongan yang dipengaruhi oleh parameter putaran spindel, pemakanan dan kedalaman potong. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui secara akurat pengukuran gaya radial dan mengetahui parameter yang berpengaruh terhadap gaya pemotongan. Desain alat ukur gaya dapat dipakai sebagai bahan pertimbangan serta menambah pengetahuan mengenai metode pengukuran terhadap 3 komponen gaya pada proses bubut.  Pengujian dilakukan dengan cara mengukur gaya pada pahat menggunakan sensor strain gauge yang diletakkan pada tool post mesin bubut. Pengolahan data didesain menggunakan metode taguchi dan analisa dengan pendekatan statistik anova. Hasil dari anova menggunakan uji F dengan taraf signifikansi 0,05 membuktikan parameter spindle speed terbukti berpengaruh lebih besar dibandingkan parameter feeding.Â

Christopher Wenk is Director of International Trade Policy at the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), which is the U.S. largest industry trade association, representing small and large manufacturers in every industrial sector and in all 50 states.
