This paper presents an ontology describing Bulgarian dance folklore as part of Bulgaria's cultural and historical heritage. The study focuses on a specific dance piece – "Horo in Sofia", choreographed by Kiril Djenev. The ontology is developed in accordance with the CCO (Cataloging Cultural Objects) standard, which provides guidelines for data content standards. The created ontological structure serves as a knowledge base intended for use by intelligent agents. The application of standards significantly facilitates data dissemination, with CCO providing clear and precise definitions of the attributes an object should possess. The ontologies, developed in Protégé, are designed to meet the requirements of this standard. Five key characteristics were used to represent the dance: ethnographic area, artistic-social function, participant composition, number of participants, and musical accompaniment. Semantic modeling utilizes RDF, and the additional application of RDFS and OWL provides a powerful toolkit for modeling and creating ontologies. This work lays the foundation for the digital transformation of Bulgarian dance heritage and provides a valuable resource for researchers, teachers, and students. The development is part of a broader project focused on the digitization of cultural and historical heritage.

Considering that hip-hop music is the foremost contemporary artistic expression of Black lives I discuss American rapper Ice Cube’s track “I wanna Kill Sam” and Brazilian group Racionais Mc’s’s track “Racistas otários”. The two tracks have in common the fact that they address the experiences of Black people through their relationship with public policies and institutions that claim to promote the emancipation of Black people in Brazil and in the USA. I, then, demonstrate that the Racionais and Ice Cube symbolically (re)dimension contemporary “Blackness” as a result of the constant physical and symbolic clashes that started back in the slavery regime.

Music can improve memory, focus, and learning. Additionally, it can lessen stress, boost physical productivity, and improve general mental fitness. Listening to music can enhance cognition, memory, and learning. Listening to music not only reduces anxiety, blood pressure, and discomfort but also improves mood, sleep patterns, mental acuity, and memory. Music may energise, inspire, or calm and comfort people. This study was designed with the aim of evaluating the impacts of music on the activity and performance of brain cells, considering the Mozart’s music case as an interventional approach. The study was designed on the basis of utilizing the secondary qualitative design where content analysis was chosen as an effective data analytical technique as the findings of various studies were observed in in-depth. The findings suggested that listening to Mozart’s music can cause feelings of elevated arousal, which temporarily leads to improved performance across a wide range of cognitive areas. More significantly, the brain's rhythmic rhythms and cells are positively impacted.
A plainchant office (historia) for St Pancras was composed for the Cluniac monastery dedicated to the saint at Lewes, Sussex, England. The style of its Latin texts and melodies suggests a date close to the foundation of the monastery in 1077.

Heritage is increasingly present in educational discourses, yet research on heritage education still lacks literature overviews that identify trends in its scientific production worldwide in order to get to know the discipline’s advances, evolution, and impact. This article collected a bibliographic review of <i>n</i> = 223 documents indexed in Scopus and the Web of Science between 1991 and 2022. The analysis was carried out in two phases. During the first phase, distance-based maps were constructed using the VOSviewer 1.6.16 software. During the second phase, a systematic review was carried out based on methodological classification and a content analysis. The study identified thematic networks of (C1) heritage education in formal education, (C2) heritage education, cultural heritage, and educational innovation, (C3) archaeological heritage education, (C4) heritage education, case studies, and historical awareness, and (C5) heritage education, and classified research genealogies and methodologies, which, in turn, led to the definition of two emerging genealogies: teacher training and instrumental, which were added to re-conceptualizing, contextual didactic, and evaluative, and ultimately identified a predominantly qualitative methodology. A classification of the methodologies, methods, and techniques of heritage education research was also made. This study constitutes a clear and pioneering contribution to our understanding of this discipline.
Introduction: It is clear that mental fatigue can have many negative impacts on individuals, such as impairing cognitive function or affecting performance. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of sound interventions in combating mental fatigue. Method: The subjects were assessed on various scales, a psychomotor vigilance task (PVT) task, and a 3 min resting-state electroencephalogram (EEG), followed by a 20 min mental fatigue–inducing task (Time Load Dual Back, TloadDback), during which subjects in different condition groups listened to either 15 Hz binaural beats, 40 Hz binaural beats, relaxing music, or a 240 Hz pure tone. After the mental fatigue–inducing task, subjects were again assessed on various scales, a PVT task, and a 3 min resting-state EEG. Results: After the fatigue-inducing task, there was no significant difference between the four groups on the scales or the PVT task performance. In TloadDback, the accuracy rate of the 40 Hz binaural beats group and the relaxing music group decreased in the middle stage of the task, while the 15 Hz binaural beats group and the 240 Hz pure tone group remained unchanged in all stages of the task. The EEG results showed that after fatigue inducement, the average path length of the 15 Hz binaural beats group decreased, and local efficiency showed an increasing tendency, indicating enhanced brain network connectivity. Meanwhile, the 240 Hz pure tone group showed enhanced functional connectivity, suggesting a state of mental fatigue in the group. Conclusions: The results of this study show that listening to 15 Hz binaural beats is a proven intervention for mental fatigue that can contribute to maintaining working memory function, enhancing brain topological structure, and alleviating the decline in brain function that occurs in a mentally fatigued state. As such, these results are of great scientific and practical value.
The article discusses some positive and negative aspects, as well as trends
in the choice of topics for final qualifying works by future musicians-teachers. In
particular, among the positive signs, there is a noticeable decrease in the number
of formal diploma “materials as needed”, their focus on the specific place of work
of the student is becoming more clearly marked, and a wide range of issues is being
discussed. At the same time, the author points out that the level of presentation
of the material and critical analysis of sources is not always acceptable, as well as
the inability of the graduate to identify different points of view, to investigate their
argumentation. The author considers one of the ways to increase the effectiveness
of scientific management of diploma works to be an appeal to a synergetic approach.
The conceptual and methodological principles of the synergetic paradigm, due
to the ability of various systems to self-development through the use of their internal
capabilities according to nonlinear laws, are expressed in the pedagogy of music
education in the multivariance of methods (and/or the alternative of their choice),
relevant in the professional development of a musician-teacher. In such an educational
model, this means giving each student the right to individually move towards
professional and creative development, stimulating independent choice and making
responsible decisions. This approach makes it possible for the scientific supervisor
to assess and predict the future development of each student, to diagnose methodological
and other gaps in time, to abandon excessive regulation of the educational process
in favor of a more free, individual, creative content, as well as to take into account
the professional context as accurately as possible.
While audio data play an increasingly central role in computer-based music production, interaction with large sound collections in most available music creation and production environments is very often still limited to scrolling long lists of file names. This paper describes a general framework for devising interactive applications based on the content-based visualization of sound collections. The proposed framework allows for a modular combination of different techniques for sound segmentation, analysis, and dimensionality reduction, using the reduced feature space for interactive applications. We analyze several prototypes presented in the literature and describe their limitations. We propose a more general framework that can be used flexibly to devise music creation interfaces. The proposed approach includes several novel contributions with respect to previously used pipelines, such as using unsupervised feature learning, content-based sound icons, and control of the output space layout. We present an implementation of the framework using the SuperCollider computer music language, and three example prototypes demonstrating its use for data-driven music interfaces. Our results demonstrate the potential of unsupervised machine learning and visualization for creative applications in computer music.
This study describes the representation of nostalgia in the “Memori Melodi” music program in the episode Tribute To Yon Koeswoyo. This study uses a construction approach from the representation of Stuart Hall. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling technique. Data collection used is observation without a roleplay and interviews. Data analysis used Miles and Huberman model data analysis which consisted of data reduction, data presentation, conclusion drawing and verification. The results of this study indicate there is a nostalgic representation in the music program of “Memori Melodi” episode Tribute To Yon Koeswoyo. The appearance of nostalgic is constructed through verbal and non-verbal language in each segment. The construction of social interactions between the performers (host, singer, audience) and sensory input (music, visual, narrative about Koes Plus and Yon Koeswoyo, and expressions of the performers) is a form of nostalgia in the Tribute To Yon Koeswoyo's episode. This nostalgic representation is useful knowledge about the reappearance of nostalgia in music programs on television.
The major differences that exist in the behaviour of consumers, the
commercial practices and the entrepreneurial practices represent an effect of cultural
differences. In the current setting of sustainable and systematized development of world
states it has become necessary to consider the cultural institutions as organizations
which, by their purchasing behaviour based on green principles, by the creation and
transmission of messages with themes, they can stimulate the development of green
conscience of society. The main purpose of this study is the highlighting of the
relationship between the purchasing behaviour based on green principles of
organisations, cultural marketing and development of green culture of society (norms,
values, customs and traditions).
We specify that the organisers represent the public administrations which
respect the green principles of organisation with impact on participants in musicoriented cultural events. In this study we seek whether the message transmitted by
organisers by must-oriented cultural events is received and assures the participants the
development of a green conscience. In this setting, we conducted an opinion poll
regarding the determination of impact of music-oriented cultural events on the increase
of awareness degree of environmental protection by the component of green
procurement of population. The target population was composed of 131 persons,
segmented by age, gender, residence environment, income, and occupation and
training level. Following the opinion poll the main conclusion was that over 80% of
respondents consider important and very important the concept of green procurement
for the environmental protection and sustainable development.

This study investigated the role of Self-Service Technologies (SSTs) in dance-based exercise in order to begin exploring the motivations behind the use (or not) of SSTs by ordinary men and women in this context. The research approach employed interviews to gain insights into participants' use of SSTs and their exercise practices, in order to start establishing ways in which dance can be re/incorporated into people's lives through the design of appropriate SSTs. Findings from this study highlight the significant opportunity to further explore how the properties of music and dance can be integrated into the design of new SSTs. Literature suggests dance could be a beneficial exercise format for many people and self-service technology abounds for exercise but is often not used consistently. Our interviews asked participants about dance-based exercise and SSTs for exercise and showed that there is an opportunity to design SSTs to help people access dance-based exercise. SSTs should help people learn dance, build confidence, and dance alone or with others. SSTs could facilitate movement and increase engagement with physical activity whilst addressing issues around logistics, confidence and dance knowledge and experience.

The aim of the article is to reveal the specific synergy of content and form in Huang Ji’s vocal miniature to Liu Xiang’s poem “Going through the Snow”.
Research methodology. The comparative analysis applied in the article made it possible to establish morphogenetic and meaningful links between music and poetic text of Huang Ji’s vocal miniature to Liu Xiang’s poem “Going through the Snow” and traditional Chinese painting. The leading intonemes of the vocal miniature have been determined by the intonational analysis, among which the intoneme of the bell holds a unique place.
Results. The author examines the specific performance character of the comprehensive content in the small form typical of Huang Ji’s vocal miniature to Liu Xiang’s poem “Going through the Snow”. The syntheses of signs of expressiveness inherent in music, poetry and painting, the principle of allegorical presentation of the plot have contributed to the concentration of the volumetric content in the small form. The embodiment of the poetic text of a song of national painting, which is defined as a moving perspective, has led to the emergence of moving landscapes and plot. The Chinese vocal miniature genre is defined as a song-scroll by the type of content development. The journey from winter to spring is interpreted as a symbolic reflection of the path of cognition of the world. It has been established that intonemes of the song drama have affirmative and symbolic significance. The intoneme of the bell is inherent in the unity of symbolic and realistic functions.
Novelty. An attempt is made at identifying a song-scroll as the genre type of the Chinese vocal miniature, arising from the infusion of the features of classical national painting to the song drama.
The practical significance is determined by the expediency of using its provisions both in further scientific developments regarding the genre specific character of the Chinese vocal miniature, and in the process of implementing the interpretative versions of the song masterpiece by Huang Ji.
In the past two decades, Italian legislation on teacher training underwent several reforms, which have radically changed its perspective - from a final certification mostly based on savoir savant competences (scholarly knowledge, as in the former qualification course) to an approach to subject-related knowledge centering on savoir enseigné (taught knowledge). This has raised many issues which, particularly in the musical domain, have sparkled a debate on the dichotomy, deeply-rooted in Italy, between music as a playful activity and as an internal development factor of culture. The essay therefore examines the legislative models that have followed each other, from the introduction of SSIS (the teacher training college for postgraduates) down to the “Good School” Law, highlighting the strengths and critical aspects of each model, in view of designing a political-cultural approach that can move beyond dichotomies, much to the advantage of music and culture.

<p><strong>An investigation into the use of music as a part of pastoral counselling of the adolescent. </strong><span>Pastoral counselling of the adolescent could be a challenge, because adolescence is a period characterised by emotional fluctuation. During this period of the individuals life, he or she begins to form his or her own identity and searches for a place in society, apart from the protection of their parents. Adolescents often do not have the necessary skills to deal with repressed emotions. Research shows that music has been used for many centuries in the healing process and that it has had a great influence on the psyche of human beings. For this reason, music can play an effective role in counselling adolescents. Music therapy involves the structural use of music and/or musical elements like rhythm, melody and harmony.</span></p>
This document examines the evolution of various “musical gestures” during the transition from harpsichord to pianoforte, focusing on the period 1770-1820. The work is based on historical sources and on my own experience as a pianist. The first part studies effective gestures (associated to the instrument and its touch), and the second one accompaniment gestures (associated to the performance). As a conclusion, I propose that the transition from harpsichord to piano, as well as the transition from a private to a public stage generated a more extensive display of the effective and accompaniment musical gestures discussed in this work.
The main aim of this study was to present the outstanding composition created by Bartłomiej Pękiela, Missa Pulcherrima, giving the historical, biographical, and stylistic context. The author succinctly depicted, first the historical background in which the composer lived and created, sketching the rulers of Poland of the time: Sigismund III, Vladislaus IV and John Casimir, against the important political events of the period. Having delivered the most up-to-date research, he carried on to a closer presentation of the composer himself, with a few biographical details, like these of his work as the Royal Choirmaster in Warsaw, and then the Cathedral Choirmaster at the Wawel Castle in Cracow. The author of this paper drew heavily on the studies made by eminent Polish musicologist, Rev. Hieronim Feicht (1894–1967), whose research on the biography and compositions of Bartłomiej Pękiel has not be rivaled so far by anything equally insightful and exhaustive. This study is an attempt to show Pękiel’s Missa Pulcherrima in the context of mass service compositions, proving that in its extraordinary composing and stylistic values it definitely differs from the other mass pieces by this composer written in the old style (stile antico). The said composition was created after 1655, when Pękiel moved from Warsaw to Cracow so as to undertake the position of the Cathedral Choirmaster at the Wawel Castle. Most probably, it was his last composition. A liable review of Bartłomiej Pekiel’s Missa Pulcherrima was rendered by expert in the Old Polish Music, Ewa Obniska: “Without doubt, it is the most outstanding old Polish mass, the stunning composition of outstanding artistry and unparalleled subtlety of melodic side […] the most tremendous religious masterpiece of the Polish Baroque – amongst those few which have lost nothing of their influential power despite centuries passing”.
It is hard to grasp how a composer acknowledged as a symbol of the 20th century musical avant-garde, re-formed in the laboratory of electronic music in Cologne at the end of the 1950s and always eager to take on fresh stylistical challenges, resorted to folk music as a source of inspiration. If the intersection with Hungarian and extra-european elements has been studied in depth, the connection with his Romanian folk heritage remains unexplored. The study will therefore show that Ligeti’s interest in this went far beyond composition, comprising transcriptions of Romanian folk music (during his stay at the Folk Music Institute in Bucharest, in 1949-1950) and also broad theoretical approaches, later published in Budapest. The analytical reading will show that long after Ligeti had repudiated Bartók’s influence, he appeared to revisit his predecessor in exploring folk music as source of inspiration. From early pieces, such as the Romanian Concerto and Baladă şi Joc, to Hora lungă (from the Viola Sonata), Hamburgisches Konzert, Automne à Varsovie and further on to the „mash up” of folk influences from all over the world which he promoted in his works from the beginning of the 1980s onwards, leit-motifs such as „bucium”, „bocet”, „hora lungă”, „Romanian folk instruments” etc., they all mark constant references in Ligeti’s manuscripts stored at the Paul Sacher Fondation in Basel. The study will demonstrate that the composer’s music engages in a subtle discourse with his roots, forging an underground connection between Western and Eastern European culture.
