One reason for the universal appeal of music lies in the emotional rewards that music offers to its listeners. But what makes these rewards so special? The authors addressed this question by progressively characterizing music-induced emotions in 4 interrelated studies. Studies 1 and 2 (n=354) were conducted to compile a list of music-relevant emotion terms and to study the frequency of both felt and perceived emotions across 5 groups of listeners with distinct music preferences. Emotional responses varied greatly according to musical genre and type of response (felt vs. perceived). Study 3 (n=801)--a field study carried out during a music festival--examined the structure of music-induced emotions via confirmatory factor analysis of emotion ratings, resulting in a 9-factorial model of music-induced emotions. Study 4 (n=238) replicated this model and found that it accounted for music-elicited emotions better than the basic emotion and dimensional emotion models. A domain-specific device to measure musically induced emotions is introduced--the Geneva Emotional Music Scale.

Creativity has been consensually defined as an ability to produce novel and original ideas/works, a definition shared both by the general public and among scholars. Since creativity is one of the most important and unique cognitive constructs seen in human beings, ways to enhance creativity have fascinated researchers across a broad range of human knowledge domains - from the arts and the humanities to science and technology. The functional process of creativity has been actively discussed not only in psychology, but also in neuroscience, where research is uncovering its neural correlates. A great amount of neuroimaging research has focused on describing anatomical and functional adaptations in the brain following various types of cognitive learning and training, e.g., classes of visual art or music composition, courses of drawing, calligraphy or playing musical instruments. A consistent underlying mechanism of domain-specific creativity has not yet been revealed due to difficulties in defining creativity or due to lack of generalizability across different modalities. On the other hand, recent studies suggest that there is a relationship between domain-general creativity and functional connectivity in particular brain networks. In this review, we discuss whether there is evidence for brain plasticity induced by training in creativity and associated behavioral changes, as well as whether the observed brain changes are consistent with the studies of neurobiological underpinnings of creativity and the changes induced by cognitive training.

IntroductionResearchers have shown that music-evoked autobiographical memories (MEAMs) can stimulate long-term memory mechanisms while requiring little retrieval effort and may therefore be used in promising non-pharmacological interventions to mitigate memory deficits. Despite an increasing number of studies on MEAMs, few researchers have explored how MEAMs are bound in the brain.MethodsIn the current study activation indexed by fractional amplitude of low frequency fluctuations (fALFF) during familiar and unfamiliar MEAM retrieval was compared in a sample of 24 healthy older adults. Additionally, we aimed to investigate the impact of age-related gray matter volume (GMV) reduction in key regions associated with MEAM-related activation. In addition to a T1 structural scan, neuroimaging data were collected while participants listened to familiar music (MEAM retrieval) versus unfamiliar music.ResultsWhen listening to familiar compared to unfamiliar music, greater fALFF activation patterns were observed in the right parahippocampal gyrus, controlling for age and GMV. The current findings for the familiar (MEAM) condition have implications for cognitive aging as persons experiencing age-related memory decline are particularly susceptible to volumetric reduction in the parahippocampal cortex. Post-hoc analyses to explore correlations between brain activity and the content of MEAMs were performed using the text analysis program Linguistic Inquiry and Word Count.DiscussionOur findings suggest that MEAM-related activation of the parahippocampal cortex is evident in normative older adults. However, it is yet to be determined whether such brain states are attainable in older adult populations diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment and/or prodromal Alzheimer’s disease.

The Art of Animation is always moving towards creativity and distinction, and as long as animation artists succeed in drowning joy and happiness on the faces of adults and children of the audience of that beautiful art through different types and works of art with its multiple techniques whether two - dimensional or three - dimensional animation technology, clay ,Cut out techniques or moving the puppet technique of moving frame by frame it's production forms vary between long and narrative films, short films, serials, promotional advertisements, or animation breaks displayed on satellite channels , we here in this research to shed light on a short animation separator shown on satellite channel during the holy month of Ramadan. Animation it is a Tow - dimensional animation technique to implement rhythmic interval animation. The research also addressed in this rhythmic interval to shed light on the growth of the rhythmic and creativity role of tow - dimensional movement through a rhythmic musical piece that was played with strings, which is a song, and vocalist. The Egyptian . who is full of many traditional songs that have been stuch in the minds and hearts of the Egyptian people old and young .That song was composed and composed by ( Ahmed Abd El-Qader from 1916th aged ), The Egyptian artist and singer who accompanied the opening of the Egyptian Radio at 1934th year and was one of the first singers who participated in singing in its programs since the first week. The rhythmic musician has a role in highlighting and intensifying the dramatic event in animation films, so there must be a dynamic connection between what appears with in the frame of the picture and what the recipients hear, as the music that is not synchronized with the movement may lead to a dramatic negative result in the breaks or animated films. From here this must be translated. The inter connectedness of rhythmic movement and music makes the animation to the dramatic through the perception of the animator.

Abstract Music Genre Classification (MGC) is a crucial undertaking that categorizes Music Genre (MG) based on auditory information. MGC is commonly employed in the retrieval of music information. The three main stages of the proposed system are data readiness, feature mining, and categorization. To categorize MG, a new neural network was deployed. The proposed system uses features from spectrographs derived from short clips of songs as inputs to a projected scheme building to categorize songs into an appropriate MG. Extensive experiment on the GTZAN dataset, Indian Music Genre(IMG) dataset, Hindustan Music Rhythm (HMR) and Tabala Dataset show that the proposed strategy is more effective than existing methods. Indian rhythms were used to test the proposed system design. The proposed system design was compared with other existing algorithms based on time and space complexity.

This paper introduces a new large-scale music dataset, MusicNet, to serve as a source of supervision and evaluation of machine learning methods for music research. MusicNet consists of hundreds of freely-licensed classical music recordings by 10 composers, written for 11 instruments, together with instrument/note annotations resulting in over 1 million temporal labels on 34 hours of chamber music performances under various studio and microphone conditions. The paper defines a multi-label classification task to predict notes in musical recordings, along with an evaluation protocol, and benchmarks several machine learning architectures for this task: i) learning from spectrogram features; ii) end-to-end learning with a neural net; iii) end-to-end learning with a convolutional neural net. These experiments show that end-to-end models trained for note prediction learn frequency selective filters as a low-level representation of audio.

We introduce MIDI-VAE, a neural network model based on Variational Autoencoders that is capable of handling polyphonic music with multiple instrument tracks, as well as modeling the dynamics of music by incorporating note durations and velocities. We show that MIDI-VAE can perform style transfer on symbolic music by automatically changing pitches, dynamics and instruments of a music piece from, e.g., a Classical to a Jazz style. We evaluate the efficacy of the style transfer by training separate style validation classifiers. Our model can also interpolate between short pieces of music, produce medleys and create mixtures of entire songs. The interpolations smoothly change pitches, dynamics and instrumentation to create a harmonic bridge between two music pieces. To the best of our knowledge, this work represents the first successful attempt at applying neural style transfer to complete musical compositions.
