DR. ANNEMARIE SCHIMMEL AND MUSLIM LIVING

Sohail Mumtaz Khan

In this Article, an effort was made to get a good understanding about Schimmel’s books, in the very context of Metaphysics, Mysticism, Culture, History and of Fine Arts. Much of these books are byproduct of Schimmel’s lectures which she gave in different universities and in institutions, world over. She was a dedicated Western Scholar and had an extended repute both in East and West. Her books are profoundly contained diversified or versatile topics related to Muslim living, irrespective of Muslim sect or dogmatic differences. She presented Islam a true faith and gave an impressive look of it to its western readers. For this, she particularly focused Mysticism and Fine Arts. In fact, she produced a great canvass of Islam and did her best to draw a good look of it in different socio-cultural perspectives. Her academic attire for the Prophet of Islam (pbuh) is another distinction to be valued. We should admit that this was Muslim Mysticism which engraved her ideas from childhood to her old age and she led a life, more or less, under the very shadow of Sufi Path.

The New Paradigm of Communication Within the Transdisciplinary Research

Justyna Pokojska

This paper aims to postulate a new paradigm of communication within transdisciplinary research, treated as a desirable model of practicing science in the XXI century (Brandt et al. 2013, Balsiger 2004, Wickson et al. 2006, Aenis 2010). The author emphasizes the need for a re-naturalization of transdisciplinary communication within the internally diversified teams, by returning to the natural, unforced patterns of human behavior within a group. Although it may seem to be a manifestation of sentiment for the Renaissance vision of science, combining threads from various, seemingly unconnected, areas of study (e.g., physics, metaphysics, and philosophy in one research approach) - today's necessity to restore transdisciplinary communication is a challenging task, including a need to return to the natural practices of cross-domain communication, using the potential of in-depth expertise in all the scientific areas. A mature transdisciplinary dialogue base on a translation of perspectives (Schuetz 1984, Perinbanayagam 2005) resulting from the natural predilection of a human actor to put himself/herself in the position of the other (interaction partner) to understand his/her point of view, for the set of intersubjectively shared senses and meanings is the starting point for every kind of partnership.

Ethical Identity as a Task of Education. In Search of Modern Tools of Pedagogical Discourse

Maria Małgorzata Boużyk

The article presents a philosophical analysis of the ethical identity of man as an exercise for today’s education. It consists of four parts. The first part focuses on the definition of ethical identity and its comparison with cultural identities. The other parts deal with the problem of cultural identities as a bearer of values, relevant to the consumer culture, such as change, visibility and predictability. Discussing these three values in the context of human moral actions allows a formulation of a conclusion about the need to focus education on ethical identity and to support these activities with humanistic education (in the field of philosophy, in particular). Furthermore, the article justifies that the very term “ethical identity”, if interpreted on the basis of classical metaphysics, can be an effective tool for pedagogical discourse. Therefore, attention is paid to the following key philosophical concepts: substantial unity of human being, man as the subject of human acts and freedom as a moral force.

La filosofia clinica di Wittgenstein

Dostoevsky and the religious experience. An analysis of The Possessed

Sara García Sanz, Chinwe Nzewi

This paper is a theological approach to the religious world of Dostoevsky. One of the most important themes for theology in the twentieth century – and indeed at all times – is the connection between anthropology and theology. In the past, this connection was formulated from the perspective of metaphysics and ethics, using knowledge as a guiding principle. In Dostoevsky, the thread that connects the anthropological with the theological is the religious dimension, which is not limited simply to man the creature’s relationship with God the Creator, but involves the totality of existence. We will present the great models of religious existence that appear in Dostoevsky's work and his vision of paganism, focusing on the analysis of The Possessed. It is a theological re-reading of Dostoevsky from the prism of the relationship between religion and revelation, using elements of the phenomenology of religion. Dostoevsky's perspective is particularly related to contemporary theology, because it emphasizes the experiential-existential dimension of religion, and highlights the impossibility of a supposedly areligious Christian existence.
