Deformation theory of parabolic representation pairs

Zhi Hu, Pengfei Huang, Wanmin Yan et al.

In this paper, we introduce the notions of parabolic representation pair variety and relative representation variety of a given parabolic type. We investigate the local behavior of these varieties. The Zariski tangent space and the tangent quadratic cones are described. By the Riemann--Hilbert--Deligne correspondence, we pro-represent the analytic germs of these varieties by functors related to certain groupoids of parabolic logarithmic flat bundles. Under suitable assumptions, we prove that the differential graded Lie algebra (DGLA) controlling the deformation of parabolic logarithmic flat bundle is mixedly formal. Finally, we construct the moduli space of weighted parabolic representation pairs, and, by means of quiver representation theory, we establish the Kobayashi--Hitchin-type theorem for polystable parabolic representation pairs.

Character Theory for Semilinear Representations

James Taylor

Let $G$ be a group acting on a field $L$, and suppose that $L /L^G$ is a finite extension. We show that the irreducible semilinear representations of $G$ over $L$ can be completely described in terms of irreducible linear representations of $H$, the kernel of the map $G \rightarrow \mathrm{Aut}(L)$. When $G$ is finite and $|G| \in L^{\times}$ this provides a character theory for semilinear representations of $G$ over $L$, which recovers ordinary character theory when the action of $G$ on $L$ is trivial.

Transcestralidade, Travestilândia, Traviarcado:

Emerson Meneses

Representation dimension of some finite groups

Gurleen Kaur, Amit Kulshrestha, Anupam Singh

For a finite group $G$, the representation dimension is the smallest integer realizable as the degree of a complex faithful representation of $G$. In this article, we compute representation dimension for some $p$-groups, their direct products, and groups with certain conditions on nonlinear irreducible characters. We also make similar computations for the smallest integer realizable as the degree of an irreducible complex faithful representation of $G$, if one exists. In the appendix, we present GAP codes to compute these numbers.

Modular representations of finite groups and Lie theory

Raphael Rouquier

This article discusses the modular representation theory of finite groups of Lie type from the viewpoint of Broue's abelian defect group conjecture. We discuss both the defining characteristic case, the inspiration for Alperin's weight conjecture, and the non-defining case, the inspiration for Broue's conjecture. The modular representation theory of general finite groups is conjectured to behave both like that of finite groups of Lie type in defining characteristic, and in non-defining characteristic, to a large extent. The expected behaviour of modular representation theory of finite groups of Lie type in defining characteristic is particularly difficult to grasp along the lines of Broue's conjecture and we raise a new question related to the change of central character. We introduce a degeneration method in the modular representation theory of finite groups of Lie type in non-defining characteristic. Combined with the rigidity property of perverse equivalences, this provides a setting for two variable decomposition matrices, for large characteristic. This should help make progress towards finding decomposition matrices, an outstanding problem with few general results beyond the case of general linear groups. This last part is based on joint work with David Craven and Olivier Dudas.

Creating In-between Times and Identities: Expressions of Contemporary Theatre in Guatemala

Regina Solis Miranda, Luis Antonio Morales Rodríguez

Theatricality in contemporary Guatemala has its own poetics shaped by a tense interaction of multiple identities in a context defined by enforced colonial logic. By recognizing Mayan and Ladino/mestizo theatrical trends, we can explore alternative ways of thinking that shape contemporary artistic production in the country.

Ballet in writing: precepts and rules of composition for court ballets in France under the Ancien Régime (1581-1682)

Clara Rodrigues Couto

This article seeks to understand the theoretical formulations that throughout the 17th century systematized court ballet as an art, a term defined at the time as a set of precepts and rules. After a brief discussion about the first dance manuals produced in modern Europe, we analyze the treatises, discourses and librettos that addressed ballet composition. From the works of Beaujoyeulx, Saint-Hubert, Marolles, De Pure and Ménestrier, among others, it is possible to appreciate the erudite principles and precepts that guided the practice of ballet composition in France under the Ancien Régime, as well as the inclusion of dance and ballet in the domain of written production and literate culture.

Representations and cohomologies of relative Rota-Baxter Lie algebras and applications

Jun Jiang, Yunhe Sheng

In this paper, first we give the notion of a representation of a relative Rota-Baxter Lie algebra and introduce the cohomologies of a relative Rota-Baxter Lie algebra with coefficients in a representation. Then we classify abelian extensions of relative Rota-Baxter Lie algebras using the second cohomology group, and classify skeletal relative Rota-Baxter Lie 2-algebras using the third cohomology group as applications. At last, using the established general framework of representations and cohomologies of relative Rota-Baxter Lie algebras, we give the notion of representations of Rota-Baxter Lie algebras, which is consistent with representations of Rota-Baxter associative algebras in the literature, and introduce the cohomologies of Rota-Baxter Lie algebras with coefficients in a representation. Applications are also given to classify abelian extensions of Rota-Baxter Lie algebras and skeletal Rota-Baxter Lie 2-algebras.

Automated Label Generation for Time Series Classification with Representation Learning: Reduction of Label Cost for Training

Soma Bandyopadhyay, Anish Datta, Arpan Pal

Time-series generated by end-users, edge devices, and different wearables are mostly unlabelled. We propose a method to auto-generate labels of un-labelled time-series, exploiting very few representative labelled time-series. Our method is based on representation learning using Auto Encoded Compact Sequence (AECS) with a choice of best distance measure. It performs self-correction in iterations, by learning latent structure, as well as synthetically boosting representative time-series using Variational-Auto-Encoder (VAE) to improve the quality of labels. We have experimented with UCR and UCI archives, public real-world univariate, multivariate time-series taken from different application domains. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method is very close to the performance achieved by fully supervised classification. The proposed method not only produces close to benchmark results but outperforms the benchmark performance in some cases.

Assembling Shreds of History: dance and memory of the last Argentine civic-military dictatorship

Eugenia Cadús

The article analyzes the play Retazos pequeños de nuestra historia más reciente (2010) choreographed by Daniel Payero for the Compañía Nacional de Danza Contemporánea, and its approach to the memory of the last Argentine civic-military dictatorship (1976-1983). Throughout this analysis, the article offers some thoughts on the embodied memory or the embodiment of the dictatorship’s memory as a repertoire or performance. How and what kind of memory do the dancing bodies have and evoke? Here, performance as embodied memory is presented as a fragmentary montage that alters the common place of official memory, allowing an intimate and affective dimension to arise.

Warstwa werbalna ścieżki dźwiękowej jako element współbudowania przestrzeni w filmie

Bogusław Skowronek

The article presents the most typical ways of co-building various types of film space through the verbal layer of the soundtrack: inside the frame and outside of it, diegetic and non-diegetic, and narrative and non-narrative. In order to discuss linguistic ways of co-creating space, the author used the tenets of mediolinguistics and the ideas of the textual image of the world and the linguistic image of the world.

Abiekt uwięziony w języku: Współczesne inscenizacje mitu Fedry w teatrze polskim – Kleczewska, Zadara, Wiśniewski

Małgorzata Budzowska

This article presents a comparative analysis of three contemporary stagings of the myth of Phaedra: by Maja Kleczewska (Teatr Narodowy, Warsaw 2006), Michał Zadara (Narodowy Teatr Stary, Cracow 2006), and Grzegorz Wiśniewski (Teatr Wybrzeże, Gdańsk 2019). The theoretical framework refers to the abject quality of the character of Phaedra and its representation in language. The author analyses the directors’ interventions in literary texts reworking the myth of Phaedra: strategies ranging from multiplication, through modification, to annihilation of the dramatic text. In Kleczewska’s intertextual staging, which juxtaposes different plays addressing the theme, the text and the language become less important than the actors’ physicality. Zadara’s ironic theatre deconstructs the discursive formation of Racine’s classical tragedy, while retaining it as the main subject of the performance. Wiśniewski returns to Rancine’s language, but tries to transcend it, counterbalancing it with quiet, restrained acting, enhanced by strong musical phrases. The three stagings resonate with the concept of the theatre as a laboratory of crisis, here: of the crisis of the abject.

Derived Representation Type and Field Extensions

Jie Li, Chao Zhang

Let $A$ be a finite-dimensional algebra over a field $k$. We define $A$ to be $\mathbf{C}$-dichotomic if it has the dichotomy property of the representation type on complexes of projective $A$-modules. $\mathbf{C}$-dichotomy implies the dichotomy properties of representation type on the levels of homotopy category and derived category. If $k$ admits a finite separable field extension $K/k$ such that $K$ is algebraically closed, the real number field for example, we prove that $A$ is $\mathbf{C}$-dichotomic. As a consequence, the second derived Brauer-Thrall type theorem holds for $A$, i.e., $A$ is either derived discrete or strongly derived unbounded.

Representations of code loops by binary codes

Rosemary Miguel Pires, Alexandre Grishkov, Marina Rasskazova

Code loops are Moufang loops constructed from doubly even binary codes. Then, given a code loop L, we ask which doubly even binary code V produces L. In this sense, V is called a representation of L. In this article we define and determine all minimal and reduced representations of nonassociative code loops of rank 3 and 4.

Representation stability of the cohomology of Springer varieties and some combinatorial consequences

Aba Mbirika, Julianna Tymoczko

A sequence of $S_n$-representations $\{V_n\}$ is said to be uniformly representation stable if the decomposition of $V_n = \bigoplus_μ c_{μ,n} V(μ)_n$ into irreducible representations is independent of $n$ for each $μ$---that is, the multiplicities $c_{μ,n}$ are eventually independent of $n$ for each $μ$. Church-Ellenberg-Farb proved that the cohomology of flag varieties (the so-called diagonal coinvariant algebra) is uniformly representation stable. We generalize their result from flag varieties to all Springer fibers. More precisely, we show that for any increasing subsequence of Young diagrams, the corresponding sequence of Springer representations form a graded co-FI-module of finite type (in the sense of Church-Ellenberg-Farb). We also explore some combinatorial consequences of this stability.

El cuerpo del que escribe

Mag.
