Abstract In the early days of space exploration, when Sally Ride was offered “100 tampons” for a week-long mission, menstrual medical devices first began to be used in space conditions. Since then, hormonal menstrual suppression has become the preferred method for managing menstruation in space, offering significant advantages. However, this is not an option for astronauts who choose to menstruate. The lack of sustainable menstrual technologies will pose challenges for long-duration missions to the Moon and Mars, where astronauts may spend years in space. The AstroCup mission represents the first effort to test menstrual cups in spaceflight, evaluating their durability and functionality. Through material integrity tests and functional assessments using a rheological analog of human blood, we demonstrate the resilience of menstrual cups and discuss their implications for sustainable menstrual management in future lunar and Martian missions.
With the development of feminism, analyzing literary works from a feminist perspective plays an important role in promoting the development of literature and feminism. In this paper, the author uses textual analysis to explore the feminist ideas reflected in Li T'ung: A Chinese Girl in New York through an in-depth analysis of the content; analyzing the impact of the historical ups and downs on women's destiny and the dilemmas of the society at that time in the light of the background of the twentieth century; using feminist theories to analyze the work, combining with the feminist literature critique and the feminist social theories. The analysis is carried out with Li T’ung, the main character as the center. This paper explores the work from a feminist perspective, analyzing the narrative techniques and Li T'ung's character, and exploring dilemmas of women in the 20th century shown in this story. From this study, readers can understand the objectification and marginalization of women's value in the society, as well as the constraints on women's social roles under the patriarchal society, and the mainstream culture of the patriarchal society had suppressed the germination of feminism and limited the development of women's subjective consciousness.

BackgroundHypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP) are a leading cause of maternal mortality and morbidity globally despite the intensive international effort to improving maternal care. Substandard clinical care has emerged as a major contributing factor to the high maternal deaths associated with maternal hypertension globally and the impact is severer in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Context specific challenges impact negatively on the quality of maternity care and health providers play a crucial role in achieving positive pregnancy experiences for women. This study explored the perspectives of health professionals on the clinical challenges associated with the management of HDP in Ghana and recommendations for improving care.MethodsA multi-center qualitative study using in-depth interviews (IDIs) was conducted in five major hospitals in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana between June 2018 and March 2019. Health professionals (midwives/nurses and medical doctors) who have worked at the study sites for at least three months were included. Data were analysed based on thematic content using Nvivo software.ResultsWe included 62 health professionals comprising 40 midwives/nurses (64.5%) with a median age of 32.5 years (range 26 to 59) and 22 medical doctors (34.5%) with a median age of 34 years (range 25 to 55). Health providers highlighted major challenges associated with clinical management of hypertension in pregnancy: (1) patient-related factors (inadequate understanding and misconceptions about hypertension in pregnancy, women's non-compliance with clinical advice, financial constraints); (2) health system-related challenges (frequent unavailability of logistics, medications and laboratory support, delays in provision of care and limitations in the health insurance coverage); (3) health provider associated factors (inadequate number of health professionals and poor attitudes). Context-specific recommendations suggested for improving the quality of care in managing maternal hypertension include restructuring of the health system to reduce delays in providing care, improving financial coverage of medical insurance, encouraging social/family support, enhancing education on HDP and strengthening the health workers’ numbers and working conditions.ConclusionMajor challenges in the clinical management of HDP relate to the health system, health professionals and pregnant women themselves. Context-specific interventions are required to improve the quality of care for hypertensive mothers including regular health education, re-structuring of the health systems, refresher courses for health providers, improvement in health insurance coverage and government subsidy for hypertensive women.
African feminisms comprise the differing brands of equalist theories and efforts geared towards enhancing the condition of woman. However, the meaning and application of the word ‘feminism’ poses several problems for African women writers and critics many of whom distance themselves from the movement. Their indifference stems from the anti-men/anti-religion status accorded feminism in recent times. Thus, several women writers have sought to re-theorize feminism in a manner that fittingly captures their socio-cultural beliefs, leading to multiple feminisms in African literature. This study critically analyzes the mainstream theories of feminisms in Africa with a view to unravelling the contradictions inherent in the ongoing efforts at conceptualizing African feminisms. The paper further argues for workable ways of practicing African feminisms to serve practical benefits for African man and woman, and to also function as an appropriate tool for assessing works by literary writers in Nigeria in particular and Africa in general.
The memoirs of the Holy Defense are one of the most enduring documents in the history of Islamic Iran.September 22, 1980 The Ba'athist regime in Iraq launched a military attack on Iran and the imposed war began. From the beginning of the war, women and men worked in the form of relief and support groups, which they took on and did until the end of the war. after the war, women fighters recorded their memories in the form of novels, memoirs and oral histories of the war. the present article examines how the personality dimensions of women fighters in the sacred defense are represented in 4 selected memoirs. these four books, entitled Sabah, Saji, The Bright Lights of the City, and The Most Beautiful Days of Life, while written with the focus on female personality, are up-to-date and effective works in this field. The findings of this article show that the representation of women's personality can be classified into four meaning domains of insight, tendency, action and personality-building factors using thematic analysis method. In the field of insight, issues such as religious, moral and revolutionary beliefs can be raised and in the field of tendency, themes such as self-made, powerful, war-disgusting, curious and chaste spirits are mentioned. In the field of action, items such as aid, religious, revolutionary, military, cultural and religious activities are included. Finally, family-centered personality-building factors are emphasized.
Abstract This study critically examines post-feminism in Chinese fashion culture through the lens of Wang Hong, young online celebrities and entrepreneurs who sell fashion products. The extensive discussion of post-feminism in the literature has thus far focused primarily on Western contexts, specifically those where young, white, middle-class women embrace the contradictory identity of a freely-choosing, self-pleasing, and empowering, yet calculating, regulatory, and disciplinary subject. I argue that, in the absence of the charged legacy of successive waves of feminist movements that have been the Western experience, Chinese women, exemplified by Wang Hong, are able to embrace post-feminism through their fashion culture and indeed are eager to do so. Through various self-fashioning activities and business endeavors, Wang Hong embody a certain type of femininity that is not only aesthetic and entrepreneurial in the lexicon of freedom and empowerment, but also patriotic in its witting complicity in the market-state nexus that propagates nationalistic sentiments in the pursuit of social and economic advantages. Though unaware of the fragmented feminist moments in China, Wang Hong, nonetheless, demonstrate that post-feminism can take root in local culture through the transnationality of the consumerist, entrepreneurial, and neoliberal yearnings of women around the world.
The National Commission on Violence against Women (Komnas Perempuan) reports that there has been an increase in Domestic Violence (KDRT) during Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB). The results of an online survey conducted by Komnas Perempuan led Magdalene.co to raise violence through the Safe Space channel specifically. Magdalene.co is a feminist online media that actively raises issues of gender and feminism. This study discusses what types of violence occur during the pandemic and how Magdalene.co raises domestic violence. This study uses a qualitative approach by conducting online observations of articles on the Safe Space channel presented during June 2020. This study also conducted interviews with the co-founder and reporter of Magdalene.co. The results found that economic and psychological violence were the two types of violence that increased. These phenomena are due to the uncertain economic conditions during the pandemic. This research also found several efforts made by Magdalene.co in raising the issue of violence during the Covid-19 pandemic, one of which was by using a particular Safe Space channel. Launched June 2020, this channel collaborates with other institutions such as Komnas Perempuan and the "Apik" Legal Aid Institute.
