El presente artículo expone algunos resultados de un estudio histórico-cultural sobre el departamento de Caquetá, entre 1970 y 2017, con el objetivo de caracterizar los procesos sociohistóricos y culturales del contexto regional de la Universidad de la Amazonia. La metodología incluye dos tipos de técnicas: por un lado, una revisión documental de diferentes noticias y hechos obtenidos de fuentes físicas y electrónicas sobre el departamento. Por otro, entrevistas y encuestas realizadas a pobladores de la región. Con esto, se compara lo que se muestra del departamento frente a lo que algunos de sus habitantes perciben de este.

The research explored the impact of advancing education opportunities in private universities on diversity and social inclusion in public universities in western Uganda. Institutional logic theory underpinned social inclusion and diversity in public universities, whereas marketization, neoliberalism, and institutional theories anchored opportunity expansion. The study adopted a cross-sectional design and quantitative approach. Seven hundred and forty-eight (748) lecturers constituted the target population, from which a sample of 302 responders was obtained. Information was collected through the Questionnaire. Data was analysed using Pearson r correlation coefficient at an alpha level of .05. Expanding opportunities and promoting social inclusion and diversity were found to be positively correlated (r (278) =.54, p =.030). The study concluded that social inclusion and diversity in public universities are positively correlated with the expansion of educational opportunities in private universities. The study recommended that, government implements policies that promote diversity and inclusion and prioritise funding for public universities.

Abstract Objectives This study aims to identify predictors of knee osteoarthritis (KOA) risk in middle-aged population, construct and validate a nomogram for KOA in this demographic. Methods From June to December 2020, we conducted a cross-sectional survey on 5,527 middle-aged individuals from Changsha and Zhangjiajie cities in Hunan Province, selected using a stratified multi-stage random sampling method. Data collection involved a structured questionnaire encompassing general demographic, physical condition, and lifestyle behaviors dimensions. The dataset was randomly split into a training set (n = 3868) and a validation set (n = 1659) at a 7:3 ratio via computerized randomization. We analyzed the prevalence of self-reported KOA and identified its influencing factors using logistic regression. A nomogram was constructed based on these "three-dimensional" factors. Subsequent validation was conducted, and the nomogram's performance was further evaluated through ROC curves, C-index, Hosmer–Lemeshow test, and calibration curves. Results The self-reported prevalence of KOA in the middle-aged population was 11.4% (632/5527). The risk factor with the greatest impact is: diagnosed with osteoporosis(95% CI 2.269–3.568, OR = 2.845), followed by age between 51 to 60 years (95% CI 2.176–3.151, OR = 2.619), diagnosed with hypertension(95% CI 1.633–2.499, OR = 2.02), diagnosed with diabetes (OR = 1.689), ethnic Han Chinese (OR = 1.673), exercise according to physical condition (OR = 1.643), pay attention to keeping the knee joint warm (OR = 1.535), eating habits are mainly light vegetables (OR = 1.374), male gender (OR = 1.343), drink occasionally in small amounts (OR = 1.286); a higher level of education (OR = 0.477) and frequently or always apply an external or plaster to relieve symptoms after knee discomfort (OR = 0.377; OR = 0.385) are protective factors. The C-index of the training set model was 0.8107 (95% CI: 0.8102–0.8111), with a statistically significant area under the ROC curve (AUC = 0.818), and the calibration curve showed a good fit. The C-index for the validation set was 0.8124 (95% CI: 0.8109–0.8140), with an AUC of 0.812. The Hosmer–Lemeshow test resulted in a P-value of 0.46 (P ≥ 0.05)indicating good calibration of the model. Conclusion The three dimensions nomogram generated in this study was a valid and easy-to-use tool for assessing the risk of KOA in middle-aged population, and helped healthcare professionals to screen the high-risk population.

The present work examines the relation between teachers’ teaching practices (i.e. students’ evaluations of teaching and autonomy support), students’ feelings of boredom, agentic engagement, and motivation. Participants were 225 university students (94 undergraduate students and 131 postgraduate students). The mean age was 26.16 (SD = 7.4); 78.7% women. Students’ evaluations of their teachers’ teaching were assessed with an open-ended questionnaire. Self-reported measures were used for the rest of the variables. To test the hypothesis relations, a structural equation model (SEM) was estimated. Results showed that boredom was negatively predicted by autonomy support practices (β = -.47) and positively predicted by negative sentiment towards teaching practices (β = .23). Results further showed a negative predictive value of boredom on students’ motivation and agentic engagement (β = -.46 and −.24, respectively). This work sheds light on the influence of boredom which could help in the development of training programmes for university teachers. Altogether, results also show a promising future for sentiment analysis techniques in the field of education.

IntroductionAutistic people face systemic barriers to fair employment. Informal learning may promote the self-determination transition-age autistic youth need to overcome and/or transform these barriers. This report focuses on the iterative process of developing video game design workshops guided by feedback from autistic students about instructional strategies they found engaging. This study is part of a three-year-long NSF-funded program of research that seeks to empower autistic youth to move toward successful careers by teaching educators how to more effectively guide them.MethodsIn the Summer of 2021, educators at an award-winning NYC-based, not-for-profit, education program, Tech Kids Unlimited (TKU) collaborated with researchers, including autistic students, to iteratively develop and assess two online game design workshops for transition-age autistic youth. Participants selected which workshop they were available for (Workshop 1: n = 18; M age = 16.72 years; Workshop 2: n = 16; M age = 16.56 years). Students in Workshop 2 had more varied support needs and were less motivated to learn video game design than students in Workshop 1. Students completed assessments before and after each workshop and rated their interest in specific workshop activities after each activity. Guided by data from Workshop 1, we revised instructional strategies before conducting Workshop 2.ResultsWe found little evidence for our hypothesis that attentional style would impact educational engagement. However, video game design self-efficacy and self-determination were often positively associated with engagement. Two industry speakers, one of whom was autistic, were among the highest-rated activities. As hypothesized, video game design self-efficacy and self-determination (and unexpectedly) spatial planning improved from pre- to post-test following Workshop 1. Despite our efforts to use what we learned in Workshop 1 to improve in Workshop 2, Workshop 2 did not lead to significant improvements in outcomes. However, students highlighted instructional strategies as a strength of Workshop 2 more often than they had for Workshop 1. Educators highlighted the importance of group “temperature checks,” individualized check-ins, social–emotional support for students and educators, and fostering a positive atmosphere.DiscussionFindings suggest that interactive multimodal activities, stimulating discussions, and opportunities to engage with neurodivergent industry professionals may engage and empower diverse autistic youth.

In-hospital pediatric cardiopulmonary arrest is rare. With more than 50% of patients not surviving to discharge following cardiopulmonary arrest, it is important that health-care providers (HCPs) respond appropriately to deteriorating patients. Our study evaluated the performance of basic life support skills using non-acute HCPs during pediatric inpatient resuscitation events. We conducted a retrospective chart review of all code blue team (CBT) activations in non-acute care areas of a tertiary care children’s hospital from 2008 to 2017. The main outcomes were frequency of life support algorithmic assessments and interventions (critical actions) performed by non-acute HCPs prior to the arrival of CBT. CBT activation and outcome data were summarized descriptively. Logistic regression was used to assess for an association of outcomes with the presence of established leadership. A total of 60 CBT activations were retrieved, 48 of which had data available on isolated non-acute HCP performance. Most children (93%) survived to discharge. Critical action performance review revealed that an airway, breathing and pulse assessment was documented to have occurred in 33%, 69% and 29% of cases, respectively. A full primary assessment was documented in 6% of cases. The presence of established leadership was associated with the performance of a partial ABC assessment. Our results suggest that resuscitation performance of pediatric inpatient non-acute HCPs often does not adhere to standard life support guidelines. These results highlight the need to reconsider the current approaches used for non-acute HCP resuscitation training.

Mass collaboration can bring about major transformative changes in the way people can work collectively. This emerging paradigm promises significant economic and social benefits and enhanced efficiency across a range of sectors, including learning and education. Accordingly, this article introduces, demonstrates in use, and evaluates an organizational and governance model designed to provide guidance and execution support for the implementation and operation of mass collaborative learning initiatives. The design science research process is adopted to guide the design and development of the proposed model. The model stands on three streams of work, addressing key aspects and elements that have a supporting influence on community learning: (i) identify the positive and negative factors in existing and active examples of mass collaboration; (ii) adopt contributions of collaborative networks in terms of structural and behavioral aspects; and (iii) establish adequate learning assessment indicators and metrics. The model is used for a case study in which vocational education and training meet the needs of collaborative education–enterprise approaches. Initially, the validation of the model is verified by the partners and stakeholders of a particular project in the area of education–enterprises relations to ensure that it is sufficiently appropriate for applications in a digital platform developed by such projects. The three first steps of (the proposed) applicability evaluation (adequacy, feasibility, and effectiveness) are then performed. The positive results gained from model validation and its applicability evaluation in this project indicate that not only is the model fairly adequate, feasible, and effective for applications in the developed digital platform but also that it has a high potential for utilization in supporting and directing the creation, implementation, and operation of mass collaborative learning initiatives. Although the validation was carried out in the context of a single project, in fact, it was based on a large “focus group” of experts involved in this international initiative, which is in accordance with the Design Science Research method. Thus, this article reflects a kind of applied research of a socio-technical nature, aiming to find guidelines and practical solutions to the specific issues, problems, and concerns of mass collaborative learning initiatives.

Liberal education has represented the ideal and standard form of education that contains the essential value of education. Liberal education values the exploration of knowledge that holds truth beyond life. This is because knowledge itself has an intrinsic value of being “liberal.” Nonetheless, how being “liberal” actually liberates human beings cannot be explained. This very characteristic of liberal education has been criticized for making knowledge <i>a priori</i> dogma and for distancing people from the fullness of real life.</br>Liberal education, an elite education for liberal citizens, is known to be exclusive and removed from the reality of the working class. While it is concentrated on the input of knowledge, it shows a structural vulnerability that it neglects in the output. Therefore, the demand for a specific curriculum and observable consequences that would liberate humans was bound to appear constantly. Competence-based education grew against this backdrop, and liberal education gradually diminished in importance due to being seen as overly speculative, old fashioned, and disconnected from reality.</br>As the social demand for professional education intensifies, liberal education is being used as a symbolic myth that grants rhetorical justification to vocational education. Efforts to transform liberal education into competency-oriented training may backfire and often weaken the originality of liberal education and produce self-negating outcomes.</br>The cooperation between liberal education and competency-based education should begin again not by meeting half-way, but by acknowledging differences and recognizing potential elements of conflict.

The purpose of our study is to present some general aspects regarding approach to the therapeutic path in the case of the hip prosthesis following a trauma to the lower limb and femoral neck fracture in the elderly. This surgery seems quite easy nowadays, when the surgical techniques are a real progress in terms of means of investigation and treatment. However, the approach must be taken on a case-bycase basis. To understand the pathophysiological mechanisms and the application of the therapeutic means in hip prosthesis, we will present a case study in which we will apply specific kinetic means to post-surgical recovery.

Nowadays, the control of the traffic in the urban roads and in the highway has been a big challenge as the number of increase in the auto mobiles. So to overcome this problem we use the detection and tracking the vehicles using the traffic surveillance system. We can manage and control the traffic more easily. It is very complicated and a challenging task to identify the vehicle or a moving object in a complex environment with various background. The ratio detected of such algorithms depends on the quality of the foreground mask generated. Therefore this project is to present the detection and tracking the vehicles and the pedestrians in an efficient method which focus on trajectory motion of the vehicles and the pedestrians. In this proposed method, the pixels in the background are preserved which can be cars, bikes, buses, pedestrian, etc., the rest is discarded as the noise. Hence, our proposed method detects the vehicles and the pedestrians as mentioned and discards the rest noise as well in the same time. Here the quality of the generated foreground mask is more to increase the detection ratio. The performance is compared with other standard methods qualitatively and quantitatively.

The results of this study are the orientation of the values ??expected from the implementation of Islamic education management science itself is to embed leadership, managerial and organizational values ??into a personal soul that is stable, dynamic, independent and creative, so that in action it is always based on tangible Islamic characters. in several values, namely the value of worship, the value of benefit, the value of mercy (affection), the value of goodness, the value of long-term orientation, and submission to God.
