Innovation Research on Cultivating Employment Awareness in Private Higher Vocational Colleges under the Background of Industry-Education Integration
Shi Xi
As the core direction of China’s vocational education reform, industry-education integration has positioned private higher vocational colleges as vital components of the vocational education system, playing a pivotal role in aligning skilled talent development with industrial demands. However, current challenges, such as ambiguous career awareness and unclear professional positioning among students at private higher vocational colleges, hinder their employment competitiveness. Cultivating career awareness has thus become a crucial approach to addressing employment quality enhancement. This paper analyzes the theoretical foundations and practical challenges of career awareness cultivation based on industry-education integration policies and the characteristics of private higher vocational education. It proposes innovative pathways through three dimensions: cultivation objectives, models, and mechanisms. The study establishes a “demand-oriented, school-enterprise collaborative talent development, and multidimensional support system” framework, providing theoretical references and practical insights for optimizing career guidance and enhancing employment quality in private higher vocational colleges.
A Hybrid Framework for Guidance and Counseling in Indonesia: Integrating ASCA and ABKIN for Teacher Competence Development
Nandang Rusmana, A. Hafina, Y. R. Yustiana
et al.
This study aims to develop a comprehensive school guidance and counseling program model by integrating the international models of ASCA (American School Counselor Association) and ABKIN (Indonesian Guidance and Counseling Association), tailored to the local context of Indonesia. The research utilised the Borg and Gall research and development design, which includes development, testing, and validation steps. A purposive sample of 141 guidance and counseling teachers from various educational levels across Indonesia participated in the study. The developed model consists of two main frameworks: a general framework and a specific framework. The general framework includes the foundation, delivery system, management, and accountability, while the particular framework covers the rationale, philosophy, vision and mission, and program audit. The model was validated by four expert validators: (1) a professor of Guidance and Counseling from Semarang State University, focusing on junior high school education; (2) a professor from Malang State University, focusing on senior high school education; (3) a professor from Indonesian Education University, focusing on elementary school education; and (4) an expert lecturer in Early Childhood Education (PAUD). The validation results showed an average score of 4.1 out of 5, indicating that the model was considered satisfactory in feasibility and completeness. Suggested improvements emphasised further adaptation to local conditions and strengthening evidence-based accountability. This model is expected to enhance the effectiveness of school counseling services by supporting student development in three main domains: the academic domain (learning to learn), the career/vocational domain (learning to earn), and the personal/social domain (learning to live). With a more adaptive approach to the specific needs at various educational levels, this guidance and counseling model can better support student growth.
The Employment-oriented Mechanism of Higher Vocational Colleges from the Perspective of Classified and Accurate Education
Dongyang Zhu
: The current employment situation is grim. Higher vocational colleges should carry out classified and accurate vocational education for students, build a recruitment public service platform and provide professional career planning guidance. Adjusting the discipline structure of higher vocational colleges, perfecting the employment service system, refining the planning of higher vocational education, optimizing the content of higher vocational education, clarifying the types of personnel training and perfecting the employment-oriented mechanism constitute the practical logic of the employment-oriented mechanism in higher vocational colleges. Higher vocational colleges should help students actively classify employment, promote students' initiative in innovation and starting an undertaking, guide students to rationally choose employment and strengthen the implementation of classified and accurate education. At the same time, higher vocational colleges should strengthen classified employment service measures, establish macro-dynamic control mechanism and improve the development of employment-oriented mechanism.

Cucu Arumsari, U. Suherman, Juntika Nurihsan
et al.
This study used a quantitative survey approach to analyze the career satisfaction of vocational schoolteachers in the City of Tasikmalaya who members of the Guidance and Counseling Teacher Deliberations (MGBK) are. A total of 40 respondents, with 31 women (77.5%) and 9 men (22.5%). The research instrument used the Career Satisfaction Scale (CSS) with adequate internal reliability. The results of the study show that women have the same opportunities in careers as vocational teachers, even though in the teaching profession women are more dominant. Factors such as gender stereotypes and disparities in access to mentors and professional networks can influence women's career satisfaction. In terms of age, respondents ranged in age from 22 to 50 years, with variations in frequency for each age group. Previous research has shown that stereotypes about reduced performance and career satisfaction in older workers are not entirely accurate. Older workers can have equal or even higher levels of career satisfaction than younger workers. In terms of education, most of the respondents (62.5%) had a bachelor's degree, while the rest (37.5%) had a master's degree. Previous studies have shown that the compatibility of education with work is positively related to career satisfaction. Most respondents (65%) experienced moderate levels of career satisfaction, followed by a small number who experienced high (17.5%) and low (17.5%) levels of career satisfaction. Factors such as a sense of accomplishment, success on the job, good relationships with colleagues and superiors, recognition received, and alignment with interests and values can influence career satisfaction. Interviews with counseling teachers showed that high school quality has a positive impact on career satisfaction. A conducive work environment, principal support, adequate resources, and a positive learning climate create a satisfying work experience for counseling teachers. Overall, this study provides insight into the career satisfaction of vocational schoolteachers in Tasikmalaya City and the factors that influence it. This study can be the basis for the development of policies and programs aimed at increasing the career satisfaction of vocational teachers

Introduction to the special section: life design interventions (counseling, guidance, education) for decent work and sustainable development
Meenakshi Chhabra, M. A. Ribeiro, J. Rossier
In the fifth century BC, the Buddha left his home in search of answers to suffering of mortality, morbidity, and ignorance faced by humanity. Today in the twentyfirst century, as humans we find ourselves grappling with the same questions. The increasing human displacements due to environmental crisis and conflicts in the last decade, growing precarity of employment, the refugee crisis, the recent pandemic, and war have forced us collectively as a human race to accept the certainty of two things: the reality of unpredictability and the human fragility in the face of it. These global shifts have also exposed the widening social and economic inequalities across lines of geography, ethnicity, race, gender, and ability, to name a few, and the adverse impact of these changes for the next generation and the generations to come. The contemporary ever-changing working world has generated, on the one hand, precarious ways of living, instability, insecurity, and vulnerabilities; on the other hand, it has also created room for changes and innovations, producing opportunities for inviting new ways of being and fresh perspectives on social relationship forms and life designs. Significant changes in the working world are continuing to unfold, leading to an ongoing increase in the number of hybrid experiences, transitional situations, non-linear and open-wide careers, new vocational paths, and shifting career trajectories. These changes have rearranged not only the various dimensions of the living experiences but also processes and practices within the working context and educational settings. Amid these seismic changes, the relevance and significance of Life Design interventions to enhance human capability as one response to the crisis cannot be overstated, since the living world has required career guidance reconstruction to face contemporary challenges. Research has shown that career guidance and counseling, lifelong learning, and life design interventions in addition to promoting access

Formation of Students' Professional Identity as a Tool for Intensifying Labor Capital: Career Guidance Activities
S. Selivanova
The paper examines the phenomenon of profes-sional identity as a tool for intensifying labor capital. Professional identity implies the orientation of an individual to the constant development of profes-sional qualities, which over time provides the econ-omy with highly qualified personnel. However, in modern Russian realities, many factors complicate the formation of professional identity, including those at the stage of acquiring higher professional education. The results of the sociological study of the state of professional identity of university stu-dents in Ufa revealed some problems in the for-mation of ideas about the profession (specialty) and the motivation for its choice. So, at the time of enter-ing a university, young people often have a superfi-cial idea of the chosen specialty, they do not have a process of professional determination. The motiva-tion for the professional choice of students is equal-ly rational and irrational, with every fourth student choosing a specialty under the influence of random factors. The study also showed that the role of the institution of secondary general education in the process of professional self-determination is not of prevailing importance, while in developed countries the school is the primary element of the vocational guidance system. Based on the analysis of the data presented, it is necessary to make managerial deci-sions in the field of career guidance in Russia, and measures of career guidance work with students at school are proposed.
