Suppose some cleverness score parameter is sufficiently interesting to be defined and then measured, perhaps for different strata of specialists or for the broader population. Such phenomena could have Gaussian distributions, when it comes to all players in a stratum, but when interest focuses on the very tails, for the top few percent, those above certain high thresholds, different models are called for, along with the need to analyse such based on the listed top scores only. In this note I develop such models and tools, and apply them to the top-100 and above 2100 points lists for regular chess ratings, for the currently active 14671 men and 753 women, as given by the FIDE, January 2026. It is argued that even when two or more distributions have close to identical expected values, or medians, even smaller differences in variance may explain gaps for the few very best ones.
Developing expertise in physics requires appropriate integration and assimilation of physics and mathematics. Instructors and students often describe physics courses in terms of their emphasis on conceptual and quantitative problem-solving. For example, they may argue that a course emphasizes primarily conceptual over quantitative problem-solving or may emphasize equally on both depending on instructional context and assessment design. In this study, we investigated how students and instructors across different levels of physics instruction perceive the roles and development of conceptual and quantitative problem-solving in student learning and expertise development. Using departmental surveys administered at the beginning and end of each semester, we collected both Likert-scale and open-ended responses from students enrolled in introductory, upper-level undergraduate and graduate physics courses. These surveys assessed students' self-perceived skills, preferences and perceptions of instrucots and course emphasis. To complement student perspectives, we conducted interviews with instructors using parallel questions adapted to reflect instructional goals and expectations. Our findings highlight patterns in how students and instructos prioritize conceptual and quantitative problem-solving across course levels, as well as alignment and misalignment between student and instructor perspectives.
Acoustic-type logging instruments generate high voltages in the order of thousands of volts. Electromagnetic interferences are thus induced by high-voltage pulses that affect the logging tool and make it inoperable owing to damaged components in severe cases. In particular, weak acoustoelectric signals, vulnerability to electro magnetic interference, and other characteristics require higher electro magnetic compatibility of the acoustoelectric logging detector. The system’s complexity makes it difficult to find and analyze the root cause of the interference. This paper revolves around the three elements of electromagnetic compatibility. The electrode measurement circuit is a sensitive source. Through interference analysis and testing, the high voltage pulse source is determined to be the source of interference. We focus on analyzing the formation mechanism of electromagnetic interference coupling paths. The electromagnetic interference characteristics of the detector are systematically analyzed and verified by combining the qualitative electric coupling mechanism, the quantitative Gaussian electric field law and the electric coupling experimental study. This paper reduces the main interference causes and characteristics of the detector and reveals that the electrical coupling of high voltage pulses is the main interference cause of the acoustoelectric logging detector. The method to eliminate the coupling path is proposed.

Introduction: Prostate cancer (CaP) is a leading cancer diagnosis and cause of cancer-related deaths among Nigerian men, and the accuracy of the pathologic diagnosis is critical for optimal patient care. This study aims to define the relative proportional accuracy of the histological diagnosis of prostatic cancer with hematoxylin and eosin (H and E) slides at Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Owerri, Nigeria. It also seeks to determine Gleason's grading and grade group pattern of CaP in our hospital. Materials and Methods: This study is a 5-year retrospective study reviewing all the H and E slides of prostatic Tru-Cut biopsies that were already diagnosed as cancer at FMC Owerri. These diagnoses were read and confirmed using their morphological appearance on light microscopy. Those that were suspicious, especially those that were diagnosed with well-differentiated adenocarcinoma (Gleason 3 + 3) and poorly differentiated carcinoma (Gleason 5 + 5), were sent for immunohistochemical studies. The well-differentiated carcinomas were stained for basal cells using P63, whereas poorly differentiated carcinomas were stained with prostate-specific antigens to confirm tissue of origin. These are to differentiate them from benign mimickers and metastatic carcinomas, respectively. Results: The age range of the patients was between 50 and 99 years, with a mean age of 72.84 years and peak age in the 70–79 years of age group. Using immunohistochemistry on the specimens which fitted into the criteria for immunohistochemistry, this study showed the relative proportional accuracy of the histological diagnosis of prostatic cancer using H and E to be 95.55% and the positive predictive value of H and E to be 0.83. With respect to International Society of Urological Pathology (ISUP) group grading, high-grade cancers predominated, and the most predominant grade is 5. Conclusion: H and E stain has high diagnostic accuracy (95.55%), but a 4.45% diagnostic error using H and E is quite significant. Immunohistochemistry, therefore, should act as a most valuable adjunctive, which significantly increases the diagnostic accuracy of prostatic carcinoma diagnosis.

The correct definition of gender roles in societies and appropriate to female and male characteristics is one of the effective factors in family consolidation. Gender roles in different societies are derived from the culture and religion of that society, since the Qur'an is one of the original sources of our culture, it should be referred to for a proper understanding and definition of gender roles. In this article, by referring to the verses of the Quran and existing interpretations, it compares and evaluates gender roles according to the two Quranic models of Prophet Moses (pbuh) and Prophet Mary (pbuh). The current research has been done with qualitative method and documentary and theoretical analysis. The results show that the models of men and women in the Qur'an are the same in terms of human affairs and closeness to God, but prophecy and mission, meaning the leadership of society, are the responsibility of men. Both Qur'anic models, including the pious and close to God's door, have been trained by God's prophets in a period of their lives. Both have divine miracles, one is a shining hand and a cane, and the other is a child who speaks in the cradle. Both call to God Almighty and ask God for help during hardships. The special role that is listed for Maryam (pbuh) is the mother of the divine prophet, and the special role of Prophet Moses (pbuh) is his prophethood and mission. The feeling that is considered for Maryam (S) is the worry and fear of her chastity being violated. In the case of Prophet Moses (pbuh), the feelings of fear and anger, fear of Pharaoh's denial, as well as fear of deceiving people by sorcerers and anger at seeing his people go astray, have been mentioned
The aim of the study was to examine the effect of walking football applied to elderly male sedentary individuals on life satisfaction and heart rate variability. 22 male volunteers whose physical activity level was determined by International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) were included to this study. Volunteers were divided into 11 exercise groups and 11 control groups by random sampling. While the control group had no activity participation, the exercise group performed a 20-minute warm-up, they played 60 minutes of walking football, and they performed a 10-minute cool down. This was done 2 days a week across an 8-week period. In the study, the Life Satisfaction Scale (LSS) was used in the exercise and control groups, Heart Rate (HR), Heart Rate Variability (HRV), heart-mind coherence, maximum heart-mind coherence measurements were applied with the Heartmath-Inner Balance device. “Paired t test” was used for analyzing pretest-posttest differences in variables while "Independent t test" was used for analyzing differences between the groups. Findings show that there was a significant difference between the exercise group’s HRV, heart-mind coherence, maximum heart-mind coherence, and pre-post test measurements of the LSS results (p lt;0.05), although there was no significant difference in the HR variable (p gt;0.05). No significant difference was found between the pre-test and post-tests mean comparison of all variables of the control group (p gt;0.05). According to the results, it can be concluded that walking football has a positive effect on life satisfaction, HRV, heart-mind coherence, and maximum heart-mind coherence in older adults.
The paper explores the everyday gendered lives of Velichappad men. The focus of the paper is on understanding imprint of rituals of possession beyond the space of enactment to the everyday social and material life of the persons who are possessed. Focusing on the experiences of men gives a deeper insight into the gendered dimensions of possession and its differentiated experiences. In addition, this paper examines the social and economic structures that limit and transform the Velichappads. Meanings of possession are understood by situated ethnography and the non-homogeneity of male experiences is reflected through the narratives. The narratives point toward the need for a conceptual framework that understands possession within the intricacies of gender, caste, and class. Furthermore, this study supports the contention that studies of masculinity be informed by the experiences of the marginalized. Interrogating the experiences of Velichappad men charts the histories of the region’s sexual economies, and its social and material embedding.
Gender discrimination in hiring is a pertinent and persistent bias in society, and a common motivating example for exploring bias in NLP. However, the manifestation of gendered language in application materials has received limited attention. This paper investigates the framing of skills and background in CVs of self-identified men and women. We introduce a data set of 1.8K authentic, English-language, CVs from the US, covering 16 occupations, allowing us to partially control for the confound occupation-specific gender base rates. We find that (1) women use more verbs evoking impressions of low power; and (2) classifiers capture gender signal even after data balancing and removal of pronouns and named entities, and this holds for both transformer-based and linear classifiers.
The extent to which men and women use language differently has been questioned previously. Finding clear and consistent gender differences in language is not conclusive in general, and the research is heavily influenced by the context and method employed to identify the difference. In addition, the majority of the research was conducted in written form, and the sample was collected in writing. Therefore, we compared the word choices of male and female presenters in public addresses such as TED lectures. The frequency of numerous types of words, such as parts of speech (POS), linguistic, psychological, and cognitive terms were analyzed statistically to determine how male and female speakers use words differently. Based on our data, we determined that male speakers use specific types of linguistic, psychological, cognitive, and social words in considerably greater frequency than female speakers.
Problematic smartphone use (PSU) is defined as the inability to control the time spent on smartphones, which has long-term negative impacts on daily life. The use-and-gratifications approach is applied to smartphones and describes the extent to which users devote themselves to smartphones to obtain gratifications. These gratifications can be represented in the types of use (process, social, and habitual). This study examines the associations between PSU and the different types of use and their effects on perceived stress and self-perceived PSU. <i>N</i> = 108 subjects participated (65 women, 41 men, 2 diverse, mean age = 31.8; range 17–70). They completed the Mobile Phone Problem Use Scale (MPPUS-19), Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10), a questionnaire on types of use, and a self-created scale for self-perceived PSU. Multiple linear regressions and correlations were calculated and show a relationship between PSU and perceived stress. All three types of use were shown to be predictors of PSU. For stress perception, only process use is a predictor. Both PSU and stress perception are predictors of the self-perceived PSU. Both stress and PSU interact with each other, and the different types of use determine how stressful smartphone use is perceived to be.

Colorectal cancer is a leading cause of cancer death for both men and women. For this reason, histopathological characterization of colorectal polyps is the major instrument for the pathologist in order to infer the actual risk for cancer and to guide further follow-up. Colorectal polyps diagnosis includes the evaluation of the polyp type, and more importantly, the grade of dysplasia. This latter evaluation represents a critical step for the clinical follow-up. The proposed deep learning-based classification pipeline is based on state-of-the-art convolutional neural network, trained using proper countermeasures to tackle WSI high resolution and very imbalanced dataset. The experimental results show that one can successfully classify adenomas dysplasia grade with 70% accuracy, which is in line with the pathologists' concordance.
Software engineering is not only about technical solutions. To a large extent, it is also concerned with organizational issues, project management, and human behavior. There are serious gender issues that can severely limit the participation of women in science and engineering careers. It is claimed that women lead differently than men and are more collaboration-oriented, communicative, and less aggressive than their male counterparts. However, when talking with women in technology companies' leadership roles, a list of problems women face grows fast. We invite women in software engineering management roles to answer the questions from an empathy map canvas. We used thematic analysis for coding the answers and group the codes into themes. From the analysis, we identified seven themes that support us to list the main challenges they face in their careers.
This study aims to determine the demographic, epidemiologic, and clinical characteristics of COVID-19 cases that are highly susceptible to COVID-19 infection, with longer hospitalization and at higher risk of mortality and to provide insights that may be useful to assess the vaccination priority program and allocate hospital resources. Methods that were used include descriptive statistics, nonparametric analysis, and survival analysis. Results of the study reveal that women are more susceptible to infection while men are at risk of longer hospitalization and higher mortality. Significant risk factors to COVID-19 mortality are older age, male sex, difficulty breathing, and comorbidities like hypertension and diabetes. Patients with these combined symptoms should be considered for admission to the COVID-19 facility for proper management and care. Also, there is a significant delay in the testing and diagnosis of those who died, implying that timeliness in the testing and diagnosis of patients is crucial in patient survival.

By the emergence of Modernity in Iran in Qajar Era many intellectuals believed in developing reformations in Iran’s Community. Besides reformations, the society of Iran should be awakened from deep sleep by thinking transformation and reach Modernity and this issue is evident in all works of intellectuals in Qajar. Undoubtedly many trips of intellectuals of this era to European countries have influenced their thoughts. Pre-constitutional intellectuals enumerated the reasons for Iran’s mustiness as despotisms, lack of legal governance, invasion of Arabs to Iran and finally religion and superstitions. So they tried to find a solution for solving these problems. They became familiar with modern government elements in West and proposed some solutions for mustiness of Iran like: reformation of governance structure, making law, reformation or changing the procedure, renewing ancient traditions, eliminating or reforming religion, etc. the thoughts of these intellectuals aren’t limited to a same realm of meaning and the method of each case is different for solving the problems of the country. However, their thought is related to modern governance. Among the pre-constitutional intellectuals is Mirza Agha Khan Kermani. He found out the reasons for Iran’s mustiness by observing western countries’ situation and comparing it with Iran. He became aware of Modern governance elements and criticized traditional situation of society of Iran and tried to find a solution for solving this crisis.
Methodology
The current paper is based on analytical-descriptive method and governance theory of Michel Foucault and examines perception of Mirza Agha Khan Kermani of nature of Modern governance on the basis of his work, seven treatises. The problem is that what are the basics of modern governance in the thought of Mirza Agha Khan Kermani? The hypothesis of this paper is that Mirza Agha Khan Kermani criticized the nature of traditional system of Iran and his different perceptions of Modernity and modern governance led to a different interpretation of mustiness. About the research literature we should say that some works have been written about thoughts of Mirza Agha Khan Kermani that the most important ones are Facing with Modernity by Abdollah Ansari, Basics of Modern Government in Thinkers’ Perspective in Constitutional Era by Shah Mohammadi, Thoughts of Mirza Agha Khan Kermani by Feridon Adamiyat. These works have examined dimensions of Mirza Agha Khan Kermani’s thought.
Discussion
Mirza Agha Khan Kermani is one of the intellectuals of Qajar Era. His thought is full of nationalism, documenting the governance right of nation, freedom, fighting with Russian and English colonialism, fighting with despotism, litigation, human rights, Islamic unity thought and criticizing social situation (Ajoudani, 2014: 79). He criticized the nature of traditional system in Iran and his different thinking tendencies have influenced his perception of Modernity and modern governance elements.
This has caused that he has a different perception to lagging behind. One of the modern governance factors in his thoughts is national government. He considers the reason of the emergence of government the human being’s requirement to meet his needs and necessity of cooperation with others in meeting them. In his opinion (Kermani, 1945: 69) establishing a society and necessity of leader I the factor of people’s solidarity and prevents disunion in society and it is considered as main motivation of community to modernity. Kermani considers government a necessary tool for society progress (Kermani, 280). His attitude to government represents establishing a legal system based on Modernity because it is “legally bound” and its nation enjoys freedom rights (Kermani, 1933:162). He reprimands despotic traditional government as the people finally make a revolution. It doesn’t seem that he wants to transform all political structure and make a revolution in it but conversely, he is reformist and tries to avoid despotism. In his opinion the existence of law is the main technique for modern governance. Kermani focuses on law as the main element in reaching democracy in Iran and believes that it has been from the beginning and it has been eliminated by Arab attacks and their dominance to Iran (Kermani, 285). Mirza Agha Khan considers lawlessness of this event as the origin of all misfortunes of Iranians.
One of the structural components in the transformation of Mirza Aga Khan's thought is the unpreparedness of the society and the illiteracy of the majority of the society. In this regard, he considers the basis of life and the basis of human civilization in science and knowledge and considers science impossible without education (Kermani, 1945: 16). He did not believe that Iran was useless in science; But with the invasion of this land by the Arabs, they destroyed their sciences and technologies and burned the books of Iran out of jealousy and ignorance and trampled on the sciences of Iran for several thousand years (Kermani, 1989: 23). The intense attacks that Mirza Aga Khan repeatedly pays attention to the ignorant Arabs and their customs and traditions in his works show his attention to the political system that ruled the situation in Iran at that time.
In the face of the modern government in the West, Kermani considers the ruling tyranny as one of the reasons for the backwardness of the governments in Iran, which seeks power and has not paid attention to the development and education of the nation and deprives the people of their rights and freedoms. Kermani gives people legal rights (Kermani, Bita b: 74-73). According to him, the people should be aware of their rights and the nation should form a great force for itself against the strength of the government. His emphasis on the concept of the nation and the granting of equal rights demonstrates his efforts to involve the people in the political life of the country in order to achieve a modern government in society.
Kermani has a broad view of women's rights among intellectuals before him, so much so that he pays special attention to women in all his works. In the field of women's rights, she believes that they should have equal rights with men: "Women should have equal rights with men and learn them from any science, technology and industry, and be aware of good and bad, and women should not wear hijab and not speak. He is not forbidden from having sex with a foreign man so that he does not produce any sins and obscene acts at all ”(Kermani, 1933: 10). Therefore, he considers women to have equal rights with men as a condition for the perfect progress of the human world.
Conclusion
Mirza Aga Khan Kermani is one of the pioneers of modern government in Iran, who at the same time has tried to look at tradition in its historical context. His efforts to critique the past as an important component of his thought are influenced by the West. He can be considered an admirer of the ancient religion and cultural values of Iran, which he tried to revive and to take the political foundations of the West, such as the establishment of national government, the expansion of social and political freedoms and finally the absolute separation of political institutions from religion. He emphasized. He brought government and religion together and considered the rule of law to be appropriate for Iranian society. Mirza Aga Khan's legacy not only reduced the role of tradition to advising the ruling system, but he also opposed and rejected the authoritarian system in the political sphere. Mirza Aga Khan Kermani, as one of the progressive intellectuals, called on the people to participate in the government and demanded the overthrow of the authoritarian government by the people.

The purpose of the present study was to compare the heart rate (HR), blood lactate and training load between different CrossFit<sup>®</sup> workouts, with equalized total work volumes in men and women. The study included 23 individuals (13 men and 10 women) experienced in CrossFit<sup>®</sup> training, who performed two workouts with different training types (as many reps as possible (AMRAP) and ‘for time’) but an equalized volume. Measurements of lactate, HR and rating of perceived exertion (RPE) were performed. The results show that there was no HR interaction between workout time and sex (<i>p</i> = 0.822; <i>η</i><sup>2</sup> = 0.006) and between workout type and sex (<i>p</i> = 0.064, <i>η</i><sup>2</sup> = 0.803). The HR significantly differed during each workout type (<i>p</i> < 0.001, <i>η</i><sup>2</sup> = 0.621), but not between the two workout types (<i>p</i> = 0.552, <i>η</i><sup>2</sup> = 0.017). Lactate showed no difference between the workout types (<i>p</i> = 0.474, <i>η</i><sup>2</sup> = 0.768), although the training load was higher (<i>p</i> = 0.033, <i>η</i><sup>2</sup> = 0.199) in women when they performed AMRAP. Altogether, the HR was not significantly different between training types or sex, while RPE, lactate and training load showed statistically significant differences depending on the group (women or men) or workout type (AMRAP or ‘for time’).

Aim. To compare dietary patterns of the Omsk region male and female representatives with and without abdominal obesity (AO).Material and methods. Wthin the second study of Epidemiology of Cardiovascular Diseases and their Risk Factors in Regions of Russian Federation (ESSE-RF2) using a representative sample of Omsk region population aged 25-64 years (n=1648), dietary habits, including 21 food groups, were assessed by the questionnaire method. Eating habits of Omsk region representatives with (n=936) and without AO (n=712) were compared.Results. Insufficient consumption of vegetables and fruits practically does not differ in those with or without AO. Depending on sex, insufficient fruit consumption is more typical for both men and women without AO. In addition, there is insignificant increase of fruit consumption in AO people, especially women (p=0,09). Both men (p=0,05) and women (p=0,045) are less likely to consume meat daily but more often consume fish weekly compared to those without AO. This mainly applies to women, because women with AO, in contrast to those without AO, are significantly less likely to consume insufficient amount of fish (p=0,0001). Compared to women with, men with AO significantly more often daily and weekly consume seafood (p=0,001). Daily milk consumption is much less common in individuals with AO, but only at the expense of men with AO (p=0,0001). Kefir and yogurt, on the contrary, are more often consumed in patients with AO both daily and weekly. Omsk people with AO are less likely to introduce yogurt into their daily diet, mainly at the expense of women with AO (p=0,02). Excessive consumption of pasta is more typical for persons without AO (p=0,0001), and by means of men (p=0,001). Omsk residents with AO more often exclude the sweets and confectionery from diet. In the daily diet, they are much less common in individuals with AO (p=0,0001), especially in men with AO (p=0,0001). The respondents with AO daily consume pickles 1,4 times more often compared with those without AO, and mainly by means of men (p=0,03).Conclusion. Presence of AO somewhat changed the dietary habits of Omsk residents. AO patients are less likely to consume pasta, sweets and confectionery products, but more likely to eat pickles and to add more salt to cooked food, which requires targeted preventive measures, taking into account the identified sex priorities, depending on AO presence.

Cataclysmic variables are among the photometrically most unstable stars in the zoo of stellar objects, exhibiting light variations on all time-scales between millennia and seconds. The literature is full of reports on variable phenomena which often require independent confirmation before they can be accepted as established facts. In this contribution I investigate accounts on miscellaneous variable features observed in six cataclysmic variables, drawing for this purpose largely on archival data, most of which have not been investigated in detail in the past, and complementing these data with some new observations. This enabled to confirm and expand upon some hitherto unconfirmed features in the light curves of these star, as well as the rejection of some others, while in still other cases an unambiguous answer to questions arising from previous papers was not possible.
The purpose of this study is to find evidence for supporting the hypothesis that language is the mirror of our thinking, our prejudices and cultural stereotypes. In this analysis, a questionnaire was administered to 537 people. The answers have been analysed to see if gender stereotypes were present such as the attribution of psychological and behavioural characteristics. In particular, the aim was to identify, if any, what are the stereotyped images, which emerge in defining the roles of men and women in modern society. Moreover, the results given can be a good starting point to understand if gender stereotypes, and the expectations they produce, can result in penalization or inequality. If so, the language and its use would create inherently a gender bias, which influences evaluations both in work settings both in everyday life.

Abstract As the most frequently diagnosed non-skin cancer in men and a leading cause of cancer-related death, understanding the molecular mechanisms that drive treatment resistance in prostate cancer poses a significant clinical need. Radiotherapy is one of the most widely used treatments for prostate cancer, along with surgery, hormone therapy, and chemotherapy. However, inherent radioresistance of tumor cells can reduce local control and ultimately lead to poor patient outcomes, such as recurrence, metastasis and death. The underlying mechanisms of radioresistance have not been fully elucidated, but it has been suggested that miRNAs play a critical role. miRNAs are small non-coding RNAs that regulate gene expression in every signaling pathway of the cell, with one miRNA often having multiple targets. By fine-tuning gene expression, miRNAs are important players in modulating DNA damage response, cell death, tumor aggression and the tumor microenvironment, and can ultimately affect a tumor’s response to radiotherapy. Furthermore, much interest has focused on miRNAs found in biofluids and their potential utility in various clinical applications. In this review, we summarize the current knowledge on miRNA deregulation after irradiation and the associated functional outcomes, with a focus on prostate cancer. In addition, we discuss the utility of circulating miRNAs as non-invasive biomarkers to diagnose, predict response to treatment, and prognosticate patient outcomes.

AIM: To investigate the risk factors for eye removal following ocular trauma at a major ophthalmology department in China.
METHODS: A retrospective study of patients who underwent eye removal surgery following ocular trauma was completed. Clinical outcomes were consulted in detail through the hospital’s computed medical data system. Patients’ information including age, gender, cause of ocular trauma, affected eye, and education level was collected and recorded in a standardized database. Chi-squared test, Student’s t-test, Fisher’s exact test, and bivariate correlation analysis were used for statistical comparisons.
RESULTS: The present study included 1675 removal eyes from 1674 patients over the 20-year period. Patients included 80.5% males and 19.5% females, with mean age of 38y. The majority of the patients (70.7%) were blue-collar workers (physical laborers), and 1098 patients (65.6%) did not receive high school education. Work-related injuries were the most common reason for eye removal (n=739, 44.1%), of which 441 cases (59.7%) were related to metal/nail wounds. The most frequent injury type in males was work-related injuries (49.7%), whereas the most frequent injury type in females was home-related injuries (25.8%).
CONCLUSION: Work-related injuries are a leading cause of severe ocular injury resulting in eye removal. In addition, men and undereducated patients are more likely to undergo eye removal surgery following ocular trauma. This study identified multiple high-risk factors leading to eye removal following ocular trauma, which is of great importance for preventing severe eye injuries.
