Dünnwandige Strukturbauteile neigen aufgrund der Schwingungsanfälligkeit häufig zu Ratterschwingungen. Durch eine Modalanalyse können Stabilitätskarten berechnet und Ratterschwingungen vermieden werden, was sehr aufwendig ist. Das ZeTeM Bremen und das Institut für Fertigungstechnik und Werkzeugmaschinen IFW Hannover erforschen mit der Airbus GmbH einen softwarebasierten Ansatz zur Simulation von Nachgiebigkeitsfrequenzgängen. Durch eine Kopplung von NC- und FE-Simulation erfolgt eine simulative Abschätzung des Bauteilschwingungsverhaltens.

AbstractA new algorithm for the estimation of the robustness of a dynamical system’s equilibrium is presented. Unlike standard approaches, the algorithm does not aim to identify the entire basin of attraction of the solution. Instead, it iteratively estimates the so-called local integrity measure, that is, the radius of the largest hypersphere entirely included in the basin of attraction of a solution and centred in the solution. The procedure completely overlooks intermingled and fractal regions of the basin of attraction, enabling it to provide a significant engineering quantity in a very short time. The algorithm is tested on four different mechanical systems of increasing dimension, from 2 to 8. For each system, the variation of the integrity measure with respect to a system parameter is evaluated, proving the engineering relevance of the results provided. Despite some limitations, the algorithm proved to be a viable alternative to more complex and computationally demanding methods, making it a potentially appealing tool for industrial applications.

In volume 32 of this journal, Paul Stenner suggests that Stephenson was resistant to Q methodology being placed within other theoretical frameworks. Yet in this same piece, Stenner states that it is time for Q methodology to be brought into a greater dialogue with contemporary social theory and research practice. This article seeks to demonstrate how Qfits into the contemporaryresearch practice ofmixed methods and argues that this perspective is not in conflict with Stephenson's positiQns on Q as a methodology. Further, our position reflects recent calls for the developmentofnew techniques and procedures to be used in mixed-methods research. Those making the call will find interest in what Q has to offer the social and behavioral sciences now, 75 years after it emerged in Stephenson's 1935 letter to Nature, and even though the term mixed-methodsresearch has only emerged in last couple of decades. Q methodology is shown to fit well methodologically into the mixed-methods continuum as described by prominent mixed-methods scholars, which further supports a position that Q represents a mixed research methodology.

A q-difference analog of the sixth Painlevé equation is presented. It arises as the condition for preserving the connection matrix of linear q-difference equations, in close analogy with the monodromy-preserving deformation of linear differential equations. The continuous limit and special solutions in terms of q-hypergeometric functions are also discussed.
