Beatrice Turillazzi, Andrea Boeri, Saveria Olga Murielle Boulanger
et al.
The promotion of participatory processes in initiatives such as Energy Communities (ECs) can prompt behavioural change in ecological transition. The paper presents the experience of the Municipality of Cesena and the University in the EN-ACTION project aimed at increasing awareness among students and citizens about energy transition through initiatives involving various stakeholders. The first section outlines the state of the art on energy citizenship and universities in ecological transition. The methodological section illustrates the participatory approach of EN-ACTION. The third section describes the results. The conclusions emphasise the central role of active citizenship in the transition, and the role of the public in shared management of energy.

O paradigma pós-humano e os riscos da despolitização da governação
João Maia
This article’s main objectives are to characterize the logics that underlie governance framed within the post-human paradigm, to emphasize the risks of this type of governance and to mention the organizational principles for alternative governance. The text’s approach takes as its central issue the development of automation technologies and the internet of things and their applications in society and the environment. Given the political and economic logics of current globalization, the need for participatory and representative citizenship at different levels of political decision-making is defended, including in matters of sharing and transmission of scientific-technological knowledge.

Se tutto ciò ha un senso
Fabio Di Carlo, Franco Zagari

Living poetically places
Antonella Violano, Paolo Portoghesi
The changing and evolving forms of crisis, to which Architecture is asked to give an answer, lead to a metamorphosis not only of the spaces of contemporary living but also of the way of thinking about them as an opportunity to design a “Possible Quality”. Abandoning the logic of waste and increasing awareness of “responsible freedom” by coming to terms with the “roots of change” is the mission to which we are called by current events. In relation to these events, we must have an optimistically concrete, feasible vision of the future, founded on historical memory and aware that progress and innovation have both strengths and weaknesses that must be managed with wisdom and humility.
As Paolo Portoghesi tells us: Architecture is not only a noble mental exercise. The deep knowledge of the places, on which the architect’s work has the responsibility and the privilege of leaving its imprint, leads to the prudent and responsible consideration: we must satisfy real human needs and not false demands. A responsible ecological vision leads us to recognize that every place on the planet is a sensitive receptor and the impulse of transformation rather than metamorphosis, whether beneficial or harmful, inevitably has repercussions in all the other part of the system, in a condition of preordained unstable equilibrium as in Alexander Calder’s Mobiles.
In synthesis, architecture is an involving and infinite dialogue; on this issue, Paolo Portoghesi takes the floor, the predestined of architecture that “breathes, communicates, inflects and embraces us” with the awareness of the responsibilities we have towards future generations.

De la « contestation » de la métropole en France : interprétation à partir d’un regard décentré
Cynthia Ghorra-Gobin
This article discusses the theme of the "contestation" of the metropolis, as studied in the articles in the dossier of Metropolises #28, from a decentred perspective rooted in the metropolitan experience of Lyon and Minneapolis. The reflection on (1) the meaning attributed to metropolitanisation by actors and researchers, (2) the modalities of the institutionalisation of the metropolis by the State, and (3) the repertoire of its competences, is constructed here in a comparative perspective. It recognises the specificities of the metropolitan scene in France, conducive to metropolitan social movements as they have been observed without, however, validating the hypothesis of the relevance of the metropolis as a scale for political mobilisation.

The Importance of the Classroom's Window View
Martina Zbašnik-Senegačnik, Ljudmila Koprivec
Many studies point out the importance of the window views to the surroundings, as they have a significant impact on children's well-being, living comfort and learning performance. Nevertheless, this aspect is overlooked and usually not included as one of the main criteria for designing school facilities in an urban area. The purpose of the study was to find out how the students are responding to the potential of classroom’s window views. To collect data a questionnaire was implemented in three Slovenian primary schools (in the third triad). The respondent were pupils from three different Slovenian regions. The results were processed with the statistical package SPSS for Windows and with the MS Excel tool. The pupils answered consistently to the questions in the survey. They like their classroom because of the large windows with lots of light and because of the window view of green areas. Most pupils prefer to sit by the window because they like to look outside at the surroundings. Otherwise, they would prefer to look at water, greenery, and nature. The least they would like is the view of neighbouring buildings nearby, especially if the view is without greenery, or of a busy street. They like to look out the window, even if sitting by the window is sometimes unpleasant if too hot in the summer or too cold in the winter. The noise passing through the window clearly does not bother them. The result of the study can be helpful in designing school facilities in an urban environment.

Knowledge contamination in the preservation of Modern glazed enclosures
Sara Di Resta, Jacopo Gaspari
The technological advances of recent decades and the integration of disciplines, such as architectural technology and restoration, are progressively improving design culture in the conservation of modern and contemporary heritage. The results of the study focus on the effects produced by a relatively short time interval (50-100 years) on a large number of buildings, encouraging a discussion on the role of technology in the conservation of exemplary cases of Modern heritage, and on the potential impact of this phenomenon on the so-called minor heritage, thus offering tools to support a widespread improvement campaign, one of the most demanding challenges of future decades.

Transformasi Bentuk Griya Joglo pada Akomodasi Wisata – Studi Kasus pada Cocoa Ubud
Sri Indah Retno Kusumowati, Widiastuti ., I Wayan Kastawan
Ubud is a destination for nature, rural and culture-based tourism, where many locally inspired architectural designs for tourist accommodations are found. Cocoa Ubud is for instance owes its architectural existence to a Grya Joglo, a Javanese traditional home. The purpose of this study is to analyze the background of selecting this home as the main architectural form of the Cocoa Ubud, how the joglo has been transformed into accommodation for tourists, and how the community responds to the whole process. This research uses a case study combined with field observations and interviews as methods for data collection. This study finds that the main reason for choosing the grya joglo is due to its classic, nice and likable shape. Accommodation of the architecture of the grya joglo includes the transformation of functions and physical forms as well as adding local decorative elements, such as those used in Balinese traditional homes. In terms of the community’s perception towards the design of Cocoa Ubud, Griya Joglo is welcomed as an accommodated architectural style in the area, especially when it is done in combination with Balinese architectural elements.

Pensar la (in)seguridad urbana en clave feminista.
Carolina Blanco

Implementation Fernando Martinez’s Practice Methods On Drumset Instrument Class Alfiah Akbar
Mohamad Alfiah Akbar
This study aims to (1) Know the improvement in student learning outcomes in the drumset instrument class after applying the Fernando Martinez practice method; and (2) Knowing the obstacles that exist during the application of the Fernando Martinez (FM) practice method. The research method used is classroom action research (CAR) carried out in two cycles. The stages in this study include the planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. Data obtained include student learning outcomes, observations of student drumset practice activities obtained from videos and observation sheets, as well as the results of interviews. The results of the study in the first cycle showed that there was an increase in student learning outcomes, but the learning outcomes had not yet reached the indicators of learning achievement, namely the minimum score with a very good category (90-100). While the results of the research in the second cycle there is an increase in student learning outcomes that are significant when compared with before the application of the FM practice method and in first cycle. The obstacles faced when conducting research in the first and second cycles include; lack of motivation of students towards the tasks given, students have not been able to master the material well, because the FM method is new so students are not familiar. the stages of the FM practice method in first cycle have not been carried out correctly, the collection of tasks in the first cycle in this case the practice video was not collected on time.

Positive inertia and proactive influencing towards sustainability: systems analysis of a frontrunner city
Sigourney Irvine, Xuemei Bai
Abstract With an increasingly urban population, cities have an important role to play in global environmental sustainability. Cities engaged in pioneering and ongoing sustainability experimentation—the frontrunners—can lead the way towards sustainability transition, and often become the beacon for others to follow. However, the nature and the internal dynamics that make a city a frontrunner, or the role of frontrunner cities in sustainability transition beyond their boundary, remain unclear. In addition, most studies on the influence of these frontrunners are limited to passive influencing, i.e. how the practice has been duplicated by others, or how the practice is adopted and mainstreamed into system level. Based on in-depth case studies on a frontrunner city and two other cities influenced by it, this paper examines how momentum for positive changes has been initiated, built, and sustained towards changing the status quo of practice through a succession of actors and a series of reinforcing feedback loops. We argue that creating a positive inertia through sustained momentum and embedding the frontrunner identity in a city is essential for it to continue the process of sustainability transition. Frontrunners can create flow-on benefits for other cities through a proactive influencing. Supported by multiple two-way benefits, such proactive influencing is a new mechanism of mainstreaming and up-scaling urban sustainability experiments in system innovation and transition.

Soledade. The first cemetery of the Amazon
Luiz Rabelo
The origins of cemeteries occurred because of a change in funeral habits, when burials were transferred from the church to saint fields. In 1850, the first public cemetery was inaugurated in the city of Belem, Brazil. The Cemetery Nossa Senhora da Soledade (CNSS) has a strong symbolic representation. Although its burials have ceased 30 years after its opening, the place is still visited for religious purpose, expressed in the practice souls and popular saints cults, held every Monday when the cemetery is open to the public. Hundreds of people come to the CNSS for pray near the graves. They deposit candies, soft drinks, flowers, and some sculptures adorned with shirts and ribbons, as a signal of gratitude for the graces received, attributed to the souls represented by the saints. Summed to the offerings, the tombs abandon, dirty plus graffiti, the cemetery is in a bad condition.
