On the irreducibility of singular braid group representations

Mohamad N. Nasser

In this article, we study the irreducibility of representations of the singular braid group on $n$ strands, namely $SB_n$. Our first finding is the determination of the forms of all irreducible representations $ρ: SB_2 \to GL_2(\mathbb{C})$. The second finding is the determination of the forms of all irreducible representations $ρ: SB_3 \to GL_2(\mathbb{C})$, together with the introduction of the forms of some irreducible representations $ρ: SB_3 \to GL_3(\mathbb{C})$. The third finding is the study of the irreducibility of the homogeneous local representations of $SB_n$ for all $n\geq 3$.

Interactivity that matters

Ragnhild Tronstad

Skilfully applied, interactivity is an ingredient that may boost engagement and enhance the performance experience of a young audience. However, it can also lead to confusion, banalisation and even embarrassment. What are the parameters for interactivity to be experienced as meaningful, and when is it unproductive? In this article I shall address how conceptions of artistic quality are challenged by contemporary practices of interactivity and audience participation in theatre for young audiences. The question will be discussed in relation to three performing arts productions presented in The Cultural Schoolbag (TCS): one participatory theatre performance and two interactive digital productions. The latter two were developed as part of Kulturtanken – Arts for Young Audiences Norway’s 3-year development project in digital mediation, FoNT (Formidling og Ny Teknologi/Mediation and New Technology). Equipped with theories of games and play, I shall discuss how the three projects succeed in presenting the kids with opportunities for meaningful interaction. I conclude by pointing out some of the parameters that are vital in order to provide meaningful interaction in performing arts aimed at a young audience – interactions that matter.

Representation stability in the intrinsic hyperplane arrangements associated to irreducible representations of the symmetric-groups

Ian Flynn, Eric Ramos, Benjamin Young

Some of the most classically relevant Hyperplane arrangements are the Braid Arrangements $B_n$ and their associated compliment spaces $\mathcal{F}_n$. In their recent work, Tsilevich, Vershik, and Yuzvinsky construct what they refer to as the intrinsic hyperplane arrangement within any irreducible representation of the symmetric group that generalize the classical braid arrangements. Through examples it is also shown that the associated compliment spaces to these intrinsic arrangements display behaviors far removed from $\mathcal{F}_n$. In this work we study the intrinsic hyperplane arrangements of irreducible representations of the symmetric group from the perspective of representation stability. This work is both theoretical, proving representation stability theorems for hyperplane complements, as well as statistical, examining the outputs of a number of simulations designed to enumerate flats.

Modular representations of the Yangian $Y_2$

Hao Chang, Jinxin Hu, Lewis Topley

Let $Y_2$ be the Yangian associated to the general linear Lie algebra $\mathfrak{gl}_2$, defined over an algebraically closed field $\mathbbm{k}$ of characteristic $p > 0$. In this paper, we study the representation theory of the restricted Yangian $Y^{[p]}_2$. This leads to a description of the representations of $\mathfrak{gl}_{2n}$, whose $p$-character is nilpotent with Jordan type given by a two-row partition $(n, n)$.

THE ISSUE OF PERSONAL CHOICE IN ANCIENT GEORGIAN WRITING ANNOTATION

Melania Katsitadze, Marina Turava

In the modern world, relevant concepts are personality and individuality. The present article analyzes the issue of personal choice in the prism of ancient Georgian literature. In our valuable creative heritage, there are many fictional or authentic characters, whose presence and personal decisions changed the course of humanity, and left a mark on human consciousness. Such are Saint Shushanik, Abo Tbileli, and Grigol Khandzteli, characterized by hagiographic authors (Jacob Tsurtaveli, Ioane Sabanisdze, Giorgi Merchule), who proved their personality by overcoming physical fear, victory over death, selfless work, caring for the soul. The article briefly reviews the worldview of our glorious poets Shota Rustaveli and Davit Guramishvili regarding this issue. According to them, each person carries the whole universe in himself - from the beginning to the end. Those who understand this will at least be able to gain access to self-knowledge and the regularity of life. This will help a person to achieve originality.

Komiks jako profanowanie mitu

Jerzy Szyłak

Traditionally, literary works are considered to be displaced myths. Comic book researchers would like to treat the objects of their analysis in the same way. Comics, however, are counted as mass culture, and are therefore treated differently. A work of art can open a human being to the transcendent. On the other hand, a comic imposes a kind of distance on the reader and is rather a story about how someone experiences the sacred, a voice in the discussion about the nature of religious experiences. Comics’ specificity, on the other hand, is conducive to creating stories which are mocking and critical of other types of messages. This does not mean, however, that there are no comic artists who try to offer the reader the possibility of contact with the transcendent.

Circulação Teatral: A Experiência do Chão e do Giro

CREATIVE PROCESS OF HALANG DANCE

Ninik Putri Yulianti, Soemaryatmi Soemaryatmi

Halang dance is a choreographic work that departs from a folk tale, namely the love story of Raden Inu Kertapati with Galuh Candra Kirana who faces many obstacles. The formulation of the research problem, namely: How is the creative process of creating Halang dance? This study uses a practice-based research methodology. The creative process in creating this dance uses the 3R theory. The result shows that the artistic process gives freedom of interpretation and creativity to anyone to realize ideas in the form of works. Halang dance is a work of art that is done through a creative process by going through the steps of Re-Visiting, Re-Questioning, and Re-Interpreting. Then through the steps of the creation process, namely exploration, improvisation, composition, evaluation, rehearsal, and performing. Halang dance is performed by four scenes as a literal dramatic choreography. The elements in Halang dance are able to convey the atmosphere and message to the audience that in truth life will never be separated from all problems and love will continue to grow and develop in souls who have sincerity.

Eduard Miler). Članek pregledno obravnava vse naštete uprizoritve in jih ovrednoti s pomočjo sočasne kritiške ter poznejše gledališkozgodovinske recepcije.

Sheaves on the alcoves and modular representations II

Peter Fiebig, Martina Lanini

We relate the category of sheaves on alcoves that was constructed in "Sheaves on the alcoves and modular representations I" to the representation theory of reductive algebraic groups. In particular, we show that its indecomposable projective objects encode the simple rational characters of a reductive algebraic group in all characteristics above the Coxeter number.

Identities from representation theory

Se-jin Oh, Travis Scrimshaw

We give a new Jacobi--Trudi-type formula for characters of finite-dimensional irreducible representations in type $C_n$ using characters of the fundamental representations and non-intersecting lattice paths. We give equivalent determinant formulas for the decomposition multiplicities for tensor powers of the spin representation in type $B_n$ and the exterior representation in type $C_n$. This gives a combinatorial proof of an identity of Katz and equates such a multiplicity with the dimension of an irreducible representation in type $C_n$. By taking certain specializations, we obtain identities for $q$-Catalan triangle numbers, the $q,t$-Catalan number of Stump, $q$-triangle versions of Motzkin and Riordan numbers, and generalizations of Touchard's identity. We use (spin) rigid tableaux and crystal base theory to show some formulas relating Catalan, Motzkin, and Riordan triangle numbers.

Unipotent Representations and Microlocalization

Lucas Mason-Brown

We develop a theory of microlocalization for Harish-Chandra modules, adapting a construction of Losev (\cite{Losev2011}). We explore the applications of this theory to unipotent representations of real reductive groups. For complex groups, we deduce a formula for the $K$-multiplicities of unipotent representations attached to a nilpotent orbit $\OO$, proving an old conjecture of Vogan (\cite{Vogan1991}) in a large family of cases.
