Stanning and Stalling: The Mediating Effect of Fear of Missing out in the Association Between Celebrity Worship to Academic Procrastination
Moondore Madalina Ali, Bay Dhowi, Carolus Suharyanto
et al.
Many Indonesian teenagers identify themselves as avid fans of Korean pop (K-Pop) idols, displaying remarkable loyalty and dedication to their idols. This deep devotion often manifests as celebrity worship, characterized by a parasocial bond between fans and their beloved celebrities. This intense parasocial relationship can pose distractions and detrimentally impact academic performance, potentially fostering academic procrastination. Moreover, this phenomenon is compounded by the pervasive fear of missing out (FOMO), further amplifying distractions and negative effects on academic activities. This research aimed to explore the associations between celebrity worship and academic procrastination, with a particular focus on the potential mediating role of FOMO. Employing a predictive correlational design, the research delves into the experiences of 534 Indonesian teenagers entrenched involvement in the K-pop fandom. The analysis revealed a significant correlation between celebrity worship and academic procrastination, further nuanced by FOMO's partial mediation. The results indicate how celebrity worship affects academic performance and highlight the need for intervention to reduce the impact of celebrity worship on academic performance.

Evaluating a mobile app’s effects on depression and anxiety in medication-treated opioid use disorder
Michael V. Heinz, Damien Lekkas, Veronica Abreu
et al.
Abstract Depression and anxiety frequently co-occur with opioid use disorder (OUD) yet are often overlooked in standard OUD treatments. This study evaluated the feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary effectiveness of a mobile application designed to address these symptoms in individuals receiving medications for OUD (MOUD). A randomized controlled trial recruited N = 63 adults with OUD who received MOUD and screened positive for moderate depression or generalized anxiety. Participants were randomized to an app-based digital intervention or treatment-as-usual for 4 weeks, and completed follow-ups at 4 and 8 weeks. Primary outcomes were self-reported severity measures for depression and generalized anxiety, and urine drug screens (UDS). Secondary outcomes included self-reported OUD severity, craving intensity, and digital biomarkers derived from passive smartphone sensors. The application was well-received (median app rating = 4/5 stars). The intervention group showed significant reductions in depressive and generalized anxiety symptoms post-intervention and at 8 weeks follow-up (d > 0.70), with large (d = 0.78) and moderate (d = 0.38) effect sizes, respectively, compared to controls. Both groups exhibited substantial decreases in self-reported severity of opioid use symptoms (d > 2.50). UDS suggested similar between-group adherence to MOUD, with a marginal decrease in opioid (MOP) use in the intervention group and increase in controls, yielding medium between group effect sizes (d = 0.44). Passive sensor data suggested significant increases in social connectedness in the intervention group, evidenced by a significant rise in incoming and outgoing calls and text connections. Initial evidence supports the feasibility and acceptability of a digital intervention for treating anxiety and depressive symptoms in persons receiving MOUD. While underpowered to confidently determine statistical significance beyond directionality, the intervention showed promise in reducing depressive and anxiety symptoms, suggesting its potential as a cost-effective and scalable adjunctive therapy alongside standard OUD treatment. Due to the preliminary nature of this pilot study, further research with sample sizes permitting greater statistical power is needed to confirm findings and explore long-term effects.

Psychotherapists’ assumptions towards their clients: A phenomenological study
Hale Nur Kılıç Memur
People encounter many factors that affect them in their lives, and they build their notions around these experiences. In this way, they have judgments and assumptions about the world. Similarly, psychotherapists can make many assumptions about their clients in their sessions. In this study assumptions of some psychotherapists as well as their perceptions, experiences, and perspectives were examined. For this purpose, 11 interview questions were prepared, and eight psychotherapists (5 females and 3 males) aged 30-39 working in various provinces in Turkey were interviewed. Transcripts of the interviews were analyzed through MAXQDA 20 software. While analyzing the data, Giorgi’s descriptive phenomenology analysis steps were followed. The experiences of the psychotherapists about their assumptions in the session processes were analyzed under the categories of “assumptions about clients”, “assumption-formation process”, and “coping with assumptions”. Perspectives of the psychotherapists towards assumptions were analyzed under the categories of “the impact of assumptions on the process”, “inferences”, and “recommendations.” The findings obtained were discussed and compared with the literature.

The role of chronotype (morning-evening) in predicting depression and suicidal ideation
Mahrokh Zardi Nahr, Reza Abdi
The aim of this study was to investigate the role of chronotype (morning-evening) in predicting depression and suicidal ideation. The method of this research is descriptive and correlational. The population of this research consists of all students of Shahid Madani University in the academic year 2020-2021, among whom 300 people were selected as the sample by availability sampling. Horn and Sternberg Evening-Morning Questionnaire (1976), Beck et al.'s Depression Scale (1961), and Beck Suicide Scale (1961) were used to collect the data. The data were analyzed by Pearson correlation and multivariate regression. The results of Pearson correlation indicated that there was a negative and significant relationship between chronotype variables and depression (r = -0.254) and also there was a positive and significant relationship between depression and suicidal ideation (r = 0.514). But the relationship between chronotype variables and suicidal ideation was not significant. The results of multivariate regression showed that the chronotype variable has 25% predictability of depression. The relationship revealed that chronotype variables and suicidal ideation was not statistically significant, but the indirect effect of chronotype through depression mediation was significant. Also, 26% of suicidal ideation was predictable through depression. The results indicated that having a chronotype in the evening has the ability to predict depression and with an evening chronotype the rate of depression increases. Also, the chronotype variable in the mediating role between depression and suicidal ideation can mediate the relationship between depression and suicidal ideation.

Awareness of Dentists Regarding Role of Physiotherapy in Managing Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction
Fariha Shah, Syeda Nida Hassan, Farrukh Mumtaz Rana
Background: Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD) is a complex disorder usually characterized by pain, crepitus and reduced movement. It may be due to various causes i.e. unbalanced activity, muscular spasm, or overuse of the jaw muscles,
Objective: The aim of our study is to find the awareness level of physiotherapy among dentists regarding its role in TMD.
Methodology: A Descriptive case series was conducted in FMH (Dentistry department) and different private dental clinics in Shadman Lahore. A convenient base sample of 100 respondents has been collected in 1 month.
Results: In our study 65% dentist did not consider physiotherapy as a treatment option for TMD, while 27% considered that it may be a treatment option and only 8% considered it as a treatment option. Association of dentists’ awareness level of physiotherapy as a treatment for TMD found to be significantly low p=0.0001 in our study. Treatment choice of most dentists was using a combination of medications and precautions (64%) while only 7% of dentist referred patients with TMD for physiotherapy. According to our study, most common complaints of patients to dentists were pain during eating and yawing (52%) followed by Crepitus/Clicking (30.0%) as the second most common complaint. According to our study results, 40% dentists prescribed muscle relaxants and rest as a most effective treatment for TMD.
Conclusion: TMD is a problem requiring multiple remedies for symptoms relief. Medications alone are unable to give satisfactory results in relieving all the symptoms of TMJ dysfunction. Physiotherapy is an effective mean of symptoms’ relief yet awareness level is found to be significantly low in dentists regarding its effectiveness.
