Te Karanga Ki Ngākengake The Call of the Shifting Forces
Hannah Hopewell, Matthew Wakelin
This design proposal extends and intensifies the powerfully present geological conditions of Te Whanganui-a-Tara–Wellington’s harbour. Originally conceived for an international design competition it contextualises the magnitude of geologic time and imagines an embodied experience of suspension, a quality of being between worlds yet in the felt immediacy of nothing but kenetic change. The design emerges from and is given meaning by Te Ātiawa pūrākau of taniwha Ngake and Whātaitai. Together these taniwha give the why and how of Pōneke Wellington’s land and seascape; they contextualise geomorphology in deep time and express the entangled alliance between mana whenua and the specificity of place, a quality defining Pōneke Wellington. With the design we touch into multiple relational intersections made possible by the forever mercurial space where the sea and the land meet, yet do so in such a way to unsettle settler colonial schemas of landscape-seascape experience.

TÉCNICAS DA JOALHERIA SUSTENTÁVEL PARA GRUPO SOCIAL VULNERÁVEL
Ana Beatriz Avelino Barbosa, Cristina do Carmo Lucio Berrehil el Kattel

Fernanda Machado Dill, Maíra Longhinotti Felippe, Angela Favaretto

TCACENCO, VICTORIA, ZANTOUT, MIRA
Does the music work remain the sole property of the composer? What could have sensitized the performer to the point that he improvises his own short introduction before starting the piece, and changes the authentic nuances in some bars? Is the definition of „impromptu” giving freedom to reflect the true feeling inspiration of the performance moment? The article includes an introduction on F. Schubert, famous Austrian composer and pianist, the study of the impromptu genre defi
nition and historical context. The authors have chosen interpretative versions on F. Schubert’s Impromptu no. 3, op.90 off ered by V. Horowitz, S.Richter, D.Lipatti, M.J. Pires, D. Fray, K. Buniatishvili. Besides a short description of their pianistic abilities, the authors tried to reveal the individual approach of each performer. It is important to mention an unusual treatment of this genre by D. Lipatti who added his own two bars improvised on Schubert’s text.
Circular Water Stories II
Inge Bobbink, Fransje Hooimeijer, Suzanne Loen
Circular Water Stories focusses on the changing circumstances of the water system and water chain, and the consequential spatial transformation. The approach highlights the vulnerable interdependency between traditional, marginalized water communities and their environments. The papers of this second Spool issue on Circular Water Stories in the Landscape Metropolis #8 investigate traditional water systems as a source of inspiration for today’s water, characterised by the concepts of too much, too little, and too dirty from two main perspectives: the people-orientated cultural perspective and the systemic spatial perspective.

Chek Lap Kok (Hong Kong Airport) 21.00 01.12.19, a short video by Stephen Connolly which documents a walk to Hong Kong Airport from the Expo centre on the airport island, by means of slow travel, under makeshift conditions, and without carbon expenditure. The video offers a brief exploration of the materialities and grounded infrastructures of aviation at a moment of pandemic-led change and invites us to look anew at the familiar and banal physical geography of the airport and how we move within it, drawing on Lefebvre’s Production of Space and theories of ‘Spatial Cinema’.

Out of the television studio and back again. The prehistory of a TV show model /
Salnikova Ekaterina V. /
The article is devoted to the socio-cultural phenomenon of the television Studio and its theatrical and literary background. Partly this research can be attributed to the archeology of media, more precisely, to the archeology of modern television formats aesthetics. One of the most typical television programmes is considered - the combination of Studio conversation and broadcast screen works of different genres. The author supposes that the most important elements of Studio programs are their regularity and controllability, as well as the atmosphere of safe distance from the big world or from many virtual and real worlds. Civilized, planned communication and management of information streams is modeled in the Studio. Therefore, violations of this pattern make such a strong impression.
The origins of the necessity for a Studio atmosphere are largely associated with the ancient culture and, to an even greater extent, Renaissance images and moods – the existence in the “charming corner” (locus amoenus), the search for the lost Paradise harmony, awareness of the high value of the spectator and commentator security.
…
In the Internet era videoblogger’s home becomes the Studio and synthesizes privacy and virtual publicity. The idea of a secure public space of communication no longer prevails, giving way to the idea of total integration of the local "place of action" into the space of infinite real and virtual worlds, which should increase the socio-cultural status of the private territory and its inhabitants.
The long-standing conflict between research evaluation standards and the fine arts dates from the transformation of the former schools of fine arts into bachelor’s degree programs. The origin of the conflict is epistemological in nature and has consequences at both the academic and curricular level. The quality indicators for evaluating professors are the central issue of this problem still to be solved. Although current systems of evaluation cover both the production of scientific publications as part of traditional research and the artistic creation itself, academics in the fine arts note that deficiencies exist in the assessment of both these aspects. The focus of this paper is primarily on the study of the main national and international databases in the arts, in order to assess their validity as quality indicators for the scholarly output of academics.

Pasquins, libelos e panfletos: a cultura do manuscrito na América portuguesa
Adriana Romeiro
