The role of tourism in the sustainability of cultural heritage: qualitative research on Turkish bath culture
Kuzu Sinem, Sarı Çallı Didar
This research aims to examine Turkish bath culture in depth within the context of cultural heritage, assessing the
contemporary continuity and transformation of traditional bathing practices, spatial and symbolic objects, and
ritual-based practices using a holistic approach. A semi-structured interview technique was carefully selected for
this study, based on a qualitative method. Interviews were conducted in 20 active baths in the Fatih district of
Istanbul, which are considered spatially and functionally representative and possess a strong historical context.
The data obtained were analysed in detail through a descriptive analysis process. The findings clearly
demonstrate a high degree of continuity in traditional bathing practices and professional roles such as “tellaklık”
and “natırlık”, while bath objects continue to be used largely in their authentic form. However, it has been
observed that culturally meaningful ritual practices such as the bridal bath, the groom's bath, and the forty bath
are becoming increasingly rare and, in some cases, have transformed into symbolic representations. This situation
makes it urgently necessary to address Turkish bath culture comprehensively and to develop innovative strategies
to ensure its sustainability.

The effect of high tone external muscle stimulation on polyneuropathy: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Rami Mohamed Dawah, Fatma Seddik, Mariam Omran Grase
et al.
Background and study aim. High-tone therapy, also known as High-Frequency External Muscle Stimulation (HTEMS), is a more recent and unique form of electrotherapy treatment. Unlike traditional electrotherapy methods, which use a single frequency, high-tone therapy modulates both frequency and amplitude to deliver more energy to the tissues. The options for treating neuropathy associated with any illness, including diabetes, are limited, especially non-pharmacological therapies. This review aims to investigate the evidence of the effectiveness of high-tone external muscle stimulation (HTEMS) for patients with polyneuropathy.
Material and Methods. Google Scholar, Scopus, web of Science, PubMed, EMBASE, the Cochrane Central Register of Control Trials, CENTRAL, and Physiotherapy Evidence Database, Pedro, databases from inception to February 2022. We restricted the search to articles published in English only. Randomized controlled trials, RCTs, of HTEMS for peripheral neuropathy were included. Two independent reviewers screened the articles for eligibility, extracted the data, and assessed the risk of bias in eligible studies. Meta-analysis was performed using the random-effects model. The remaining results were presented using descriptive methods. The risk of bias was assessed using the PEDro scale.
Results. Six articles fulfilled the eligibility criteria with 487 participants. Most trials have focused on investigating the effectiveness of HTEMS in treating diabetic polyneuropathy and entrapment neuropathies. Overall, HTEMS provided a slight, but not clinically significant, reduction in pain and Katz index scores compared with mean control difference with p is more then 0.05.
Conclusions. HTEMS has been proven to be more efficient in most aspects, such as reduction in pain intensity and Katz index scores in patients with polyneuropathy compared to other treatment options. The included trials presented methodological issues and high heterogeneity, preventing the establishment of any firm recommendations to support or refute the use of HTEMS as a strategy for managing neuropathic pain.

Athletic Scholarships and Title IX: Compliance Trends and Context
Erin Buzuvis
This article presents the current state of college & universities’ compliance with Title IX’s requirements for gender equity in the distribution of athletic financial aid, also known as athletic scholarships. When examined narrowly as a matter of compliance with the regulation governing athletic financial aid, scholarship allocation appears to favor female athletes. However, such framing focus obscures the degree to which women are short-changed in athletic scholarship dollars by college and universities constraining their athletic opportunities in the first place. This article provides updated analysis and figures about the degree to which that is so, as well as historic social and legal context. It also examines enforcement practices that affect compliance. Last, it offers suggestions for regulatory adjustment to add clarity to the concept of compliance in this regard.

Influence of physical load of maximum aerobic power on hemodynamics and morpho-biochemical changes in erythrocytes in female volleyball players
Sergii Popel, Zbigniew Śliwiński
Purpose: to study the types of cardiohemodynamic response of the organism and morpho-biochemical changes of erythrocytes of peripheral blood of volleyball players to physical activity of maximum aerobic capacity.
Material and methods In 18 highly qualified volleyball players aged 22.0±0.60 years, cardiohemodynamics (by functional methods), functional changes (by biochemical methods) and the structure of erythrocytes (using scanning electron microscopy) were studied before and after the maximum (3.5 W/kg of body weight) of physical activity.
Results. It was found that maximal physical activity causes significant changes in cardiohemodynamics, which result in morphological rearrangement of peripheral blood erythrocytes (increase in erythrocyte deformation index) and closely correlate with biochemical changes (decrease in ATP concentration and increase in magnesium concentration in erythrocytes). Possible mechanisms of realization of features of reaction of an organism of volleyball players to physical activity of the maximum aerobic power depending on type of regulation of blood circulation and morpho-biochemical changes of erythrocytes of peripheral blood are discussed.
Conclusions. Physical activity of maximum aerobic power in highly qualified female volleyball players reveals the typological features of the cardiohemodynamic response of the body of volleyball players, which is expressed by conformational changes in peripheral blood erythrocytes and depends on the concentration of individual macroelements in these cells and on the type of cardiohemodynamics.

Online Economics Higher Education During Covid-19, A Case Study Approach: The Bucharest University Of Economic Studies, The Faculty Of Business And Tourism
Luciana-Floriana Holostencu, Maria-Cristina Iorgulescu, Mădălina-Lavinia Ţală
et al.
From what in March 2020 seemed as a simple health issue, the Covid-19 pandemic has led to a global crisis with
a huge social, economic and educational impact. As a result, many countries that were not prepared for such a
situation, in terms of infrastructure, had to abruptly adapt with the resources they had to their disposal at that
time. For example, in Romania, most schools and universities moved their classes online via different online
platforms, but students from rural areas were not able to attend school at all. The present study aims to evaluate
students’ perceptions and difficulties regarding online (blended) learning compared to traditional classroom
attendance with a main focus on the difficulties encountered in the process of learning economic subjects. We
performed a quantitative research by implementing an online questionnaire which was sent out by the end of the
second semester of 2020 – 2021 school year. The respondents were freshmen from The Bucharest University of
Economic Studies, The Faculty of Business and Tourism, enrolled in October 2020. Being aware that the quality
of their learning might be affected via blended learning, all these respondents agreed to take part into various
optional activities provided by the means of the Secondary Education Project – ROSE BT. Therefore, the current
study might offer an useful insight into difficulties encountered by these students and solutions provided by both
teachers and the university as an institution interested into facilitating the online education process. Moreover,
the results will show possible factors that may determine difficulties into understanding various economic subjects
and students’ own motion for improving their situation.

An application of geomarketing to coastal tourism areas
María Pilar Peñarubia-Zaragoza, Moisés Simancas-Cruz, Geraldine Forgione-Martín
Geomarketing allows geographical units to be defined with a certain degree of homogeneity in terms of tourists’ preferences, behaviours, needs, expectations, purchase and consumption patterns and analogous attitudes. The result is a ‘territorial segmentation’ of tourists’ demands in accordance with tourism areas’ geographical
characteristics. This study sought to examine the benefits and disadvantages of applying geomarketing to territorial segmentation of demand in coastal tourism areas. An empirical analysis was conducted of data on tourist accommodation establishments specialising in family tourism in Costa Adeje, Spain. The findings
include that the tourist accommodation variable is essential to any successful segmentation process, including the micro-segmentation of coastal tourism areas. This variable facilitates the grouping of
consumers with similar demands in a market based on shared needs, habits or attitudes and, from the supply side, on areas’ characteristics. The latter territorial aspects are crucial to public and private decision-making processes. Thus, geomarketing is an ideal technique for understanding tourists.

Features of psycho-physiological functions of fencers in comparison with representatives of cyclic and game kinds of sports
O.A. Ryepko, Zh.L. Kozina, D.N. Karyutshenko

The purpose of the work is to determine the specifics of the speed of reaction in representatives of fencing, cyclical sports (swimmers) and game sports (basketball players). Material and methods. In the study, 23 skilled fencers, 18 qualified swimmers and 23 qualified basketball players took part in the determination of the differences between reaction rate indicators. In this study, methods were used to determine the psychophysiological abilities of athletes in terms of time indicators of a simple and complex reaction. Tests were conducted on the computer program "Psychodiagnostics". The following measurements were made: measurement of the simple response rate to the light stimulus: in response to the appearance of any image on the monitor, it was necessary to press and release the left mouse button as soon as possible; measurement of the simple reaction rate to the sound stimulus: in response to the sound, it was necessary to press and release the left mouse button as soon as possible; the measurement of the complex reaction of choosing one of three objects: in response to the appearance on the monitor screen of a picture of a geometric figure or animal, it was necessary to press and release the left mouse button as soon as possible; measuring the complex reaction of choosing two objects from three: in response to the appearance on the monitor screen of the image of the geometric figure, it was necessary to press and release the left mouse button as soon as possible; in response to the appearance on the monitor screen of the animal image should be as soon as possible to press and release the right button of the mouse. Results. It is shown that fencers in terms of time indicators of a simple and complex reaction occupy an intermediate position between representatives of sports games and cyclical sports, which significantly differ among themselves in these indicators. Fencers have these values closer to the basketball players, who have the best performance in these tests. This indicates the high importance of the speed of reaction for fencers. In terms of the efficiency of thinking, the ability to concentrate and distribute attention, mental efficiency and practicability, fencers significantly surpass both representatives of sports games and representatives of cyclic sports, which indicates a high value of indicators reflecting various aspects of thinking processes for fencers. Conclusions. In situational sports, the main form of brain activity is not the development of motor stereotypes, but the "creative" function. With this is the great importance of the processes of perception and processing of information by the central neural system.

Brasil. Referente às mídias sociais, optou-se por pesquisar o uso do
Facebook por ser este o maior e mais importante site de rede social
utilizado no país.

SMEs probability of default: the case of the hospitality sector
Luís Pacheco
In this paper we analyze a set of financial ratios from hospitality
sector SMEs in order to ascertain which factors determine a greater
probability of default. We choose the hospitality sector due to its
importance in the Portuguese economy and has been particularly
affected by the recent economic downturn and austerity measures
and because, to the best of our knowledge, this sector has never
been the object of such a study. Usually the literature seeks to find a
set of variables which are significant in the estimation of default
and multiple discriminant analysis and logit methodology are the
main avenues of research on this area. Our data was collected from
SABI and we followed logit methodology. Our results recommend
that in ascertaining the creditworthiness of borrowers only debt
and equity variables appear to be relevant to explaining failure, and
overreliance on profit as an indication of good financial
performance should be limited. The main reason for our rather
poor results could be from problems with the data quality, possibly
since the accounts published by firms aren’t reliable and tend to
present negative results.

Tourism and the demonstration effect: Empirical evidence
J. Carlos Monterrubio, M. Marivel Mendoza-Ontiveros
The demonstration effect has become a well-established concept in the
literature on tourism. It has been commonly reported as a consequence
of tourism, focusing on the emulation of tourists’ consumption patterns.
However, there is very limited empirical evidence specifically focused
on how tourist behaviour is actually or potentially emulated by locals.
This study aims to fill this gap by presenting the findings of a research
project looking at how women in a tourism destination in Mexico have
adopted tourists’ behavioural patterns either entirely or partially.
Based on in-depth interviews and focus groups, this study reveals that
tourist behaviours, attitudes, and certain ways of thinking can be and
have been actually adopted by local women. Nevertheless, it also shows
that local social groups do not copy tourist behaviour blindly; instead,
residents are also critical in demonstration effect processes. They
observe, analyse, compare, evaluate and decide on what and how
tourists’ specific behaviours are adopted.

Local residents’ attitudes towards the impact of tourism development in Cape Verde
Sandra María Sánchez Cañizares, Julia M. Núñez Tabales, Fernando J. Fuentes García
The attitudes and perceptions of local communities or residents are of
special interest when examining and managing the economic, sociocultural and environmental aspects of tourism development in a given
area. In this paper, we analyse the perceptions and attitudes of
residents in an emerging tourist destination: the island country of Cape
Verde (Africa). A survey and multivariate analysis is used for the
analysis. More specifically, we focus on the island of São Vicente, an
enclave that has remained relatively isolated from foreign tourism until
fairly recently, and which is currently experiencing a tourism boom that
is altering the way of life of local residents. The results reveal that, in
general terms, the local community perceives that tourism brings
economic opportunities – especially for a population whose traditional
fate was to emigrate – and has other positive impacts such as increased
investments in infrastructures and higher quality hospitality and retail
establishments.
