<p>There is urgent need to manage long span bridge project efficiently to compete with technological challenges. Construction management basically a tool to complete the project effectively within fixed amount but in less time. Manager should have detailed knowledge of sequence of all the activities. Decision making for both side contractor and client needs to be fast and time bound otherwise the project will get delayed which will have time and cost over run. Control in form of reviewing monitoring has a catalystic effect to boost the progress. Various aspects for effective construction management of long span bridges has been discussed in this paper.</p>

The Sidney A. Murray Jr. Hydroelectric Station is the largest, low-head run-of-river hydroelectric facility in the United States. Located near Vidalia, Louisiana, the plant generates 192 MW of electric power from eight 24 MW units. The powerplant structure and abutment dams are subjected to differential hydraulic heads of up to 8m (26 ft) under the project flood conditions and up to 12m (39 ft) under extreme, emergency conditions. Plastic concrete cutoff was installed utilizing cement-bentonite mixes placed by the slurry trench method to control seepage and uplift under the structures. This paper presents design concepts, mix design, field installation procedures and test data of the cores from the installed cutoff. Permeability, Modulus of Elasticity and Pinhole erosion criteria were used as the main control parameters for acceptance of the work.
