Language transcends mere communication; it encapsulates cultural identity, family legacy, spiritual ties to a place and a sense of communal belonging. The rapid decline in linguistic diversity—particularly among Indigenous languages—poses a significant risk to intangible cultural heritage, especially during the phase of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages (2022–2032) and beyond. This research reviews the urgent need to revitalise, safeguard, and advocate for endangered Indigenous languages and their major constraints, including iTaukei, Fiji Hindi and Rotuma, focusing on the Fijian context. The research conducts a thorough analysis of existing literature and secondary data sources to estimate the extent of language endangerment in Fiji (in total, Oceania countries represent 22.9% of all languages in the world, and have gone through linguistic colonisation), assesses current preservation efforts, and identifies critical obstacles and methods for sustainable linguistic and cultural continuity. The results seek to influence policy discussions and promote proactive, community-driven strategies to preserve the linguistic legacy for future generations.

A notion of differentiability is being proposed for maps between Wasserstein spaces of order 2 of smooth, connected and complete Riemannian manifolds. Due to the nature of the tangent space construction on Wasserstein spaces, we only give a global definition of differentiability, i.e. without a prior notion of pointwise differentiability. With our definition, however, we recover the expected properties of a differential. Special focus is being put on differentiability properties of pushforward maps induced by smooth maps between the underlying manifolds, and on convex mixing of differentiable maps, with an explicit construction of the differential.

Abstract OBJECTIVE: Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) is routinely used to assess areal bone mineral density (aBMD) and to monitor the response to therapy. However, the interpretation of aBMD as assessed by DXA can be limited by many factors in individuals with osteogenesis imperfecta (OI). In this study, we assessed the cortical thickness of the second metacarpal bone as an alternative measure of aBMD in individuals with OI who were enrolled in a multicenter natural history study of the Brittle Bone Disorders Consortium. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This was a cross sectional cohort study of patients with OI. The inclusion criteria were (1) a diagnosis of OI type I-IV (2) measurements of the metacarpal cortical thickness (MCT) of the non-dominant hand and aBMD of the lumbar spine (LS) by DXA during the same research visit within six months The exclusion criteria were aged > 19 years, spinal instrumentation, and incomplete data. The z-scores for MCT were calculated using previously published age-based standards and were compared with the LS aBMD z-scores assessed by DXA. RESULTS: Sixty four individuals met the criteria for enrollment in this analysis. Of these, 20 (31%) had OI type I, 25 (39%) had OI type III, and 19 (30%) had OI type IV. MCT positively correlated with LS aBMD (r = 0.68, p < 0.01) whereas the MCT and the LS aBMD z-scores showed no correlation (r = - 0.11, p= 0.38). The sensitivity of MCT to detect low aBMD defined as a LS aBMD z-score ≤-2.0 was 90% while the specificity was 31.5%. DISCUSSION: This is the first multi-center study to investigate the correlation between MCT and LS aBMD assessed by DXA in a large cohort of individuals with OI. We demonstrate that absolute values of MCT and LS aBMD show a strong positive correlation. The high sensitivity associated with using MCT to detect individuals with low LS aBMD allude to the fact that this may be used as a surrogate measurement for bone mineral density. However, further studies in a larger sample are needed to determine whether MCT can serve as a useful, cost-effective and readily available method for assessing aBMD in OI.

Utopia, with its multidimensionality and polysemous density, has frequently turned its attention to private property because of its structural condition as an element that generates conflicts and inequalities. In this sense, the Utopia of the chancellor and saint of Catholic Church Thomas More would raise the argument of the unjust distribution of land and material goods as the original source of social evils. Paradoxically, Gilbert Keith Chesterton, one of the most celebrated admirers of Moro, would vertebrate a medievalizing utopia characterized by defending the extension of the lordship to use that property to raise its abolition. This utopian offer of a sign contrary to the Utopian utopia would be known as distributism. In this article we will try to prove that private property is an essential element to analyze the chestertonian utopia, based on the metaphysical and transcendent foundation of his anthropology and political philosophy, that would defend the idea of "all owners."

Situated cognition seems to be one of the relevant pillars in the literature on embodied cognition: a matter of understanding the subject and its cognition in involved and mutual manner. This is a continuous process in which the flow of information affects the body, the world, and the very process of engagement. Dance should be deemed as situated cognition. Thus, assuming that contextual interdependence, one can confirm that improvisation in dance constructs specific conceptual system processes in which movement emerges from actions and reactions from stimuli promoted, systematically, in real time. Unlike pre-determined situations (such as dances created through choreography), training for dance improvisation gives priority to sharpening the dancers’ perception for action in terms of preparing them with good sensorimotor knowledge. The analytical focus of this article engages in the area of improvisational dances performed in sensitive environments mediated by digital technologies. In those contexts, new semantic layers, other levels of spatiotemporal relations, and different possibilities of interaction between the group of dancers and between them and their own computational devices emerge. Through concepts such as embodiment, enaction, actionism, and empathy, we are interested in addressing the notion of presence in systems of improvisation in dance in that context. In order to do that, we consider dance with technological mediation as a cognitive artifact and empathy as one of the conditions for interaction between dancers and their relationship between physical and virtual bodies.
