Stable formulations for the Capacitated Facility Location Problem with Customer Preferences
Concepción Domínguez, Juan de Dios Jaime-Alcántara
In the Simple Plant Location Problem with Order (SPLPO), the aim is to open a subset of plants to assign every customer taking into account their preferences. Customers rank the plants in strict order and are assigned to their favorite open plant, and the objective is to minimize the location plus allocation costs. Here, we study a generalization of the SPLPO named the Capacitated Facility Location Problem with Customer Preferences (CFLCP) where a limited number of customers can be allocated to each facility. We consider the global preference maximization setting, where the customers preferences are globally maximized. For this setting, we define three new types of stable allocations, namely customer stable, pairwise stable and cyclic-coalition stable allocations, and we provide two mixed-integer linear formulations for each setting. In particular, our cyclic-coalition stable formulations are Pareto optimal in a global-preference maximization setting, in the sense that no customer can improve their allocation without making another one worse off. We provide extensive computational experiments and compare the quality of our allocations with previous ones defined in the literature. As an additional result, we present a novel formulation that provides Pareto optimal matchings in the Capacitated House Allocation problem of maximum cardinality.

AlignIT: Enhancing Prompt Alignment in Customization of Text-to-Image Models
Aishwarya Agarwal, Srikrishna Karanam, Balaji Vasan Srinivasan
We consider the problem of customizing text-to-image diffusion models with user-supplied reference images. Given new prompts, the existing methods can capture the key concept from the reference images but fail to align the generated image with the prompt. In this work, we seek to address this key issue by proposing new methods that can easily be used in conjunction with existing customization methods that optimize the embeddings/weights at various intermediate stages of the text encoding process. The first contribution of this paper is a dissection of the various stages of the text encoding process leading up to the conditioning vector for text-to-image models. We take a holistic view of existing customization methods and notice that key and value outputs from this process differs substantially from their corresponding baseline (non-customized) models (e.g., baseline stable diffusion). While this difference does not impact the concept being customized, it leads to other parts of the generated image not being aligned with the prompt. Further, we also observe that these keys and values allow independent control various aspects of the final generation, enabling semantic manipulation of the output. Taken together, the features spanning these keys and values, serve as the basis for our next contribution where we fix the aforementioned issues with existing methods. We propose a new post-processing algorithm, AlignIT, that infuses the keys and values for the concept of interest while ensuring the keys and values for all other tokens in the input prompt are unchanged. Our proposed method can be plugged in directly to existing customization methods, leading to a substantial performance improvement in the alignment of the final result with the input prompt while retaining the customization quality.
Instruction Backdoor Attacks Against Customized LLMs
Rui Zhang, Hongwei Li, Rui Wen
et al.
The increasing demand for customized Large Language Models (LLMs) has led to the development of solutions like GPTs. These solutions facilitate tailored LLM creation via natural language prompts without coding. However, the trustworthiness of third-party custom versions of LLMs remains an essential concern. In this paper, we propose the first instruction backdoor attacks against applications integrated with untrusted customized LLMs (e.g., GPTs). Specifically, these attacks embed the backdoor into the custom version of LLMs by designing prompts with backdoor instructions, outputting the attacker's desired result when inputs contain the pre-defined triggers. Our attack includes 3 levels of attacks: word-level, syntax-level, and semantic-level, which adopt different types of triggers with progressive stealthiness. We stress that our attacks do not require fine-tuning or any modification to the backend LLMs, adhering strictly to GPTs development guidelines. We conduct extensive experiments on 6 prominent LLMs and 5 benchmark text classification datasets. The results show that our instruction backdoor attacks achieve the desired attack performance without compromising utility. Additionally, we propose two defense strategies and demonstrate their effectiveness in reducing such attacks. Our findings highlight the vulnerability and the potential risks of LLM customization such as GPTs.
Sports center customer segmentation: a case study
Juan Soto, Ramón Carmenaty, Miguel Lastra
et al.
Customer segmentation is a fundamental process to develop effective marketing strategies, personalize customer experience and boost their retention and loyalty. This problem has been widely addressed in the scientific literature, yet no definitive solution for every case is available. A specific case study characterized by several individualizing features is thoroughly analyzed and discussed in this paper. Because of the case properties a robust and innovative approach to both data handling and analytical processes is required. The study led to a sound proposal for customer segmentation. The highlights of the proposal include a convenient data partition to decompose the problem, an adaptive distance function definition and its optimization through genetic algorithms. These comprehensive data handling strategies not only enhance the dataset reliability for segmentation analysis but also support the operational efficiency and marketing strategies of sports centers, ultimately improving the customer experience.
How to Continually Adapt Text-to-Image Diffusion Models for Flexible Customization?
Jiahua Dong, Wenqi Liang, Hongliu Li
et al.
Custom diffusion models (CDMs) have attracted widespread attention due to their astonishing generative ability for personalized concepts. However, most existing CDMs unreasonably assume that personalized concepts are fixed and cannot change over time. Moreover, they heavily suffer from catastrophic forgetting and concept neglect on old personalized concepts when continually learning a series of new concepts. To address these challenges, we propose a novel Concept-Incremental text-to-image Diffusion Model (CIDM), which can resolve catastrophic forgetting and concept neglect to learn new customization tasks in a concept-incremental manner. Specifically, to surmount the catastrophic forgetting of old concepts, we develop a concept consolidation loss and an elastic weight aggregation module. They can explore task-specific and task-shared knowledge during training, and aggregate all low-rank weights of old concepts based on their contributions during inference. Moreover, in order to address concept neglect, we devise a context-controllable synthesis strategy that leverages expressive region features and noise estimation to control the contexts of generated images according to user conditions. Experiments validate that our CIDM surpasses existing custom diffusion models. The source codes are available at https://github.com/JiahuaDong/CIFC.
Leveraging Customer Feedback for Multi-modal Insight Extraction
Sandeep Sricharan Mukku, Abinesh Kanagarajan, Pushpendu Ghosh
et al.
Businesses can benefit from customer feedback in different modalities, such as text and images, to enhance their products and services. However, it is difficult to extract actionable and relevant pairs of text segments and images from customer feedback in a single pass. In this paper, we propose a novel multi-modal method that fuses image and text information in a latent space and decodes it to extract the relevant feedback segments using an image-text grounded text decoder. We also introduce a weakly-supervised data generation technique that produces training data for this task. We evaluate our model on unseen data and demonstrate that it can effectively mine actionable insights from multi-modal customer feedback, outperforming the existing baselines by $14$ points in F1 score.

Targeted Attack Improves Protection against Unauthorized Diffusion Customization
Boyang Zheng, Chumeng Liang, Xiaoyu Wu
Diffusion models build a new milestone for image generation yet raising public concerns, for they can be fine-tuned on unauthorized images for customization. Protection based on adversarial attacks rises to encounter this unauthorized diffusion customization, by adding protective watermarks to images and poisoning diffusion models. However, current protection, leveraging untargeted attacks, does not appear to be effective enough. In this paper, we propose a simple yet effective improvement for the protection against unauthorized diffusion customization by introducing targeted attacks. We show that by carefully selecting the target, targeted attacks significantly outperform untargeted attacks in poisoning diffusion models and degrading the customization image quality. Extensive experiments validate the superiority of our method on two mainstream customization methods of diffusion models, compared to existing protections. To explain the surprising success of targeted attacks, we delve into the mechanism of attack-based protections and propose a hypothesis based on our observation, which enhances the comprehension of attack-based protections. To the best of our knowledge, we are the first to both reveal the vulnerability of diffusion models to targeted attacks and leverage targeted attacks to enhance protection against unauthorized diffusion customization.

Weighted surface algebras: general version. Corrigendum
Karin Erdmann, Andrzej Skowroński
In [arXiv:1902.04063] we generalize the original definition of weighted surface algebras in [arXiv:1703.02346] by allowing the possibility that arrows might not be part of the Gabriel quiver, which gives a much larger class of algebras. This means that the zero relations need modification, to make sure that the algebras are symmetric, and of the appropriate dimension. We found recently that we had missed one necessary modification for the zero relations. Here we give the correct definition, and revise the parts of [arXiv:1902.04063] which are affected by this modification.
Intermidialidade e (re)construção histórica no romance gráfico Independência ou mortos
Stanis David Lacowicz

Prediction Modeling and Analysis for Telecom Customer Churn in Two Months
Lingling Yang, Dongyang Li, Yao Lu
A practical churn customer prediction model is critical to retain customers for telecom companies in the saturated and competitive market. Previous studies focus on predicting churn customers in current or next month, in which telecom companies don't have enough time to develop and carry out churn management strategies. In this paper, we propose a new T+2 churn customer prediction model, in which the churn customers in two months are recognized and the one-month window T+1 is reserved to carry out churn management strategies. However, the predictions for churn customers in two months are much more difficult than in current or next month because of the weaker correlation between the customer information and churn states. Two characteristics of telecom dataset, the discrimination between churn and non-churn customers is complicated and the class imbalance problem is serious, are observed. To discriminate the churn customers accurately, random forest (RF) classifier is chosen because RF solves the nonlinear separable problem with low bias and low variance and handles high feature spaces and large number of training examples. To overcome the imbalance problem, synthetic minority over-sampling with borderline or tomek link, in which the distribution of the samples remains and the number of the training examples becomes larger, is applied. Overall, a precision ratio of about 50% with a recall ratio of about 50% is achieved in the T+2 churn prediction. The proposed prediction model provides an accurate and operable churn customer prediction model for telecom companies.
Analyzing Customer Feedback for Product Fit Prediction
Stephan Baier
One of the biggest hurdles for customers when purchasing fashion online, is the difficulty of finding products with the right fit. In order to provide a better online shopping experience, platforms need to find ways to recommend the right product sizes and the best fitting products to their customers. These recommendation systems, however, require customer feedback in order to estimate the most suitable sizing options. Such feedback is rare and often only available as natural text. In this paper, we examine the extraction of product fit feedback from customer reviews using natural language processing techniques. In particular, we compare traditional methods with more recent transfer learning techniques for text classification, and analyze their results. Our evaluation shows, that the transfer learning approach ULMFit is not only comparatively fast to train, but also achieves highest accuracy on this task. The integration of the extracted information with actual size recommendation systems is left for future work.

Towards Automated Customer Support
Momchil Hardalov, Ivan Koychev, Preslav Nakov
Recent years have seen growing interest in conversational agents, such as chatbots, which are a very good fit for automated customer support because the domain in which they need to operate is narrow. This interest was in part inspired by recent advances in neural machine translation, esp. the rise of sequence-to-sequence (seq2seq) and attention-based models such as the Transformer, which have been applied to various other tasks and have opened new research directions in question answering, chatbots, and conversational systems. Still, in many cases, it might be feasible and even preferable to use simple information retrieval techniques. Thus, here we compare three different models:(i) a retrieval model, (ii) a sequence-to-sequence model with attention, and (iii) Transformer. Our experiments with the Twitter Customer Support Dataset, which contains over two million posts from customer support services of twenty major brands, show that the seq2seq model outperforms the other two in terms of semantics and word overlap.
