Biomedical technologies have advanced rapidly in recent decades, impacting human nature itself and reshaping the surrounding social environment according to new principles. These developments carry significant implications for law and public policy, highlighting the importance of legal research in regulating biomedical innovation. This article explores the transformation of traditional legal principles in family and inheritance law, focusing primarily on surrogacy under the influence of reproductive technologies. The concept of biolaw is introduced as an integration of law and biomedicine, alongside the emerging interdisciplinary field of neurolaw, which studies how advances in neurobiology influence jurisprudence. Key areas of interaction between neurobiology and law include the development of judicial practice, legislative reform informed by neuroscience evidence, and shifts in the general theory and philosophy of law. Philosophical ideas about constructing future societies grounded in biomedical achievements - proposed by thinkers such as F. Fukuyama, E. Toffler, A. Bard, and J. Söderqvist - are discussed. The article highlights certain central public concerns: social control, biologically based hierarchies, renewed eugenics, and discriminatory practices. It identifies biomedical technologies with potential to fundamentally transform society, the emerging risks they pose, and possible legal ramifications. Examples discussed include the creation of artificial wombs and genome editing, both of which may have applications beyond biomedicine for broader social purposes. The article also points out gaps in Russian legal regulation and presents the results of a comparative legal study, culminating in general recommendations for improving Russian legislation.

Drawing inspiration from the philosophy of Yi Jing, the Yin-Yang pair optimization (YYPO) algorithm has been shown to achieve competitive performance in single objective optimizations, in addition to the advantage of low time complexity when compared to other population-based meta-heuristics. Building upon a reversal concept in Yi Jing, we propose the novel Yi optimization (YI) algorithm. Specifically, we enhance the Yin-Yang pair in YYPO with a proposed Yi-point, in which we use Cauchy flight to update the solution, by implementing both the harmony and reversal concept of Yi Jing. The proposed Yi-point balances both the effort of exploration and exploitation in the optimization process. To examine YI, we use the IEEE CEC 2017 benchmarks and compare YI against the dynamical YYPO, CV1.0 optimizer, and four classical optimizers, i.e., the differential evolution, the genetic algorithm, the particle swarm optimization, and the simulated annealing. According to the experimental results, YI shows highly competitive performance while keeping the low time complexity. The results of this work have implications for enhancing a meta-heuristic optimizer using the philosophy of Yi Jing. While this work implements only certain aspects of Yi Jing, we envisage enhanced performance by incorporating other aspects.
In this paper we consider the K-theory of smooth algebraic stacks, establish lambda and gamma operations, and show that the higher K-theory of such stacks is always a pre-lambda-ring, and is a lambda-ring if every coherent sheaf is the quotient of a vector bundle. As a consequence, we are able to define Adams operations and absolute cohomology for smooth algebraic stacks satisfying this hypothesis. We also obtain a comparison of the absolute cohomology with the equivariant higher Chow groups in certain special cases.
According to Letourmy and Vendramin, a representation of a skew brace is a pair of representations on the same vector space, one for the additive group and the other for the multiplicative group, that satisfies a certain compatibility condition. Following their definition, we shall explain how some of the results from representation theory of groups, such as Maschke's theorem and Clifford's theorem, extend naturally to that of skew braces. We shall also give some concrete examples to illustrate that skew brace representations are more difficult to classify than group representations.

We provide a geometric interpretation for the connecting homomorphism in the localization sequence of Hermitian $K$-theory. As an application, we compute the Hermitian $K$-theory of projective bundles and Grassmannians in the regular case. We provide an explicit basis for Hermitian $K$-theory of Grassmannians, which is indexed by even Young diagrams together with another special class of Young diagrams, that we call $\textit{buffalo-check}$ Young diagrams. To achieve this, we develop pushforwards and pullbacks in Hermitian $K$-theory using Grothendieck's residue complexes, and we establish fundamental theorems for those pushforwards and pullbacks, including base change, projection, and excess intersection formulas.
Problems with uniform probabilities on an infinite support show up in contemporary cosmology. This paper focuses on the context of inflation theory, where it complicates the assignment of a probability measure over pocket universes. The measure problem in cosmology, whereby it seems impossible to pick out a uniquely well-motivated measure, is associated with a paradox that occurs in standard probability theory and crucially involves uniformity on an infinite sample space. This problem has been discussed by physicists, albeit without reference to earlier work on this topic. The aim of this article is both to introduce philosophers of probability to these recent discussions in cosmology and to familiarize physicists and philosophers working on cosmology with relevant foundational work by Kolmogorov, de Finetti, Jaynes, and other probabilists. As such, the main goal is not to solve the measure problem, but to clarify the exact origin of some of the current obstacles. The analysis of the assumptions going into the paradox indicates that there exist multiple ways of dealing consistently with uniform probabilities on infinite sample spaces. Taking a pluralist stance towards the mathematical methods used in cosmology shows there is some room for progress with assigning probabilities in cosmological theories.
Unimodular Gravity is a theory displaying Weyl rescalings of the metric and transverse (volume-preserving) diffeomorphisms as gauge symmetries, as opposed to the full set of diffeomorphisms displayed by General Relativity. Recently, we presented a systematic comparison of both theories, concluding that both of them are equivalent in everything but the behaviour of the cosmological constant under radiative corrections. A careful study of how Unimodular Gravity can be embedded in the string theory framework has not been provided yet and was not analyzed there in detail. In this article, we provide such an explicit analysis, filling the gap in the literature. We restrict ourselves to the unoriented bosonic string theory in critical dimension for the sake of simplicity, although we argue that no differences are expected for other string theories. Our conclusions are that both a Diff and a WTDiff invariance principle are equally valid for describing the massless excitations of the string spectrum.
It is well-known that the law of total probability does not hold in general in quantum theory. However, the recent arguments on some of the fundamental assumptions in quantum theory based on the extended Wigner's Friend scenario show a need to clarify how the law of total probability should be formulated in quantum theory and under what conditions it still holds. In this work, the definition of conditional probability in quantum theory is extended to POVM measurements. Rule to assign two-time conditional probability is proposed for incompatible POVM operators, which leads to a more general and precise formulation of the law of total probability. Sufficient conditions under which the law of total probability holds are identified. Applying the theory developed here to analyze several quantum no-go theorems related to the extended Wigner's friend scenario reveals logical loopholes in these no-go theorems. The loopholes exist as a consequence of taking for granted the validity of the law of total probability without verifying the sufficient conditions. Consequently, the contradictions in these no-go theorems only reconfirm the invalidity of the law of total probability in quantum theory, rather than invalidating the physical statements that the no-go theorems attempt to refute.

We show that Mandell's inverse $K$-theory functor is a categorically-enriched non-symmetric multifunctor. In particular, it preserves algebraic structures parametrized by non-symmetric operads. As applications, we describe how ring categories arise as the images of inverse $K$-theory.
We show that the deformation theory of a perfect complex and that of its determinant are related by the trace map, in a general setting of sheaves on a site. The key technical step, in passing from the setting of modules over a ring where one has global resolutions to the general setting, is achieved using $K$-theory and higher category theory.
Over the last two decades, the securitization of borders and human mobility has become a more “high profile” issue in academia. The general consensus is that in Western countries policies on migration have been increasingly adopted through security concerns. Such a statement brings together a broad and complex set of issues: migration, asylum, cross border crimes, external and internal security, to mention some of them. Therefore, in this book, Léonard and Kaunert recognize the need to refine the analysis and undertake the arduous task of decoding the realm and functioning of the securitization process on the specific area of asylum policy in the European Union (EU).

This study aims to determine the impacts of contraceptive injection for acceptor health centers Antang Perumnas of the al-Ḍarar Yuzāl rule. This type of research is the qualitative approach to field research. The results of this research show that firstly, the condition of acceptors in health centers of Antang Perumnas Manggala is quite diverse, acceptors in this region belong to the middle and lower economic classes with varying levels of religious understanding; secondly, two reasons cause family planning acceptors to inject, namely internal and external reasons with different impacts on their acceptors; thirdly, the application of al-Ḍarar Yuzāl's rule for the use of contraceptive injections has the following Islamic legal implications: wajib when the acceptor is awake from diseases such as uterine cancer, or death if having a pregnancy, becomes makruh if the acceptor feels pain during menstruation and intercourse, or the emergence of uterine myoma in the endometrium, and becomes haram when removing sexual sensitivity, not passionate until the feeling of anger towards the husband that ends in divorce. This research is expected to contribute to the medical world to find healthy birth control solutions for acceptors and make acceptors wiser before deciding to use contraceptive injection.

Abstract: This paper proposes a methodology for legal studies based on what has been called the hermeneutics of the not-said. Based on the thoughts of Michel Foucault and Giorgio Agamben on archeology and genealogy, this research approaches the study of law on what is not-said as subject and non-thematized knowledge. In brief, it is an attempt to consider the intersection between erudite and disqualified knowledge, in order to imply the crossroad rather than explain it.
