Wilmer Eduardo Postigo Echaiz, Rebeca Mercedes Silvia Timoteo Belling

"From Sweats to Suits": Administrators' Recommendations For Student-Athlete Career Development Services.
Jackson Sears, Natalie Bunch, Tyler Williams
et al.
Division I college athletes are faced with numerous academic challenges during their time in school, including conflicts of interest between the university (e.g., academic success), athletic department (e.g., athletic success), and their own priorities (e.g., quality of life, balancing academic and athletic success). These growing demands may impact student-athletes’ ability to prepare for a career after sport. Thus, there is a need for high-quality student-athlete career development programming and services in student-athlete support centers. The purpose of this study was to gain senior administrators’ perspectives of student-athlete support services to determine best practices of career development programming. Division I administrators (N = 10), who oversee student-athlete support centers, provided insight and feedback via semi-structured interviews. A directed qualitative content analysis was conducted to discern best practices, levels of student-athlete engagement, and preferred attributes of career development personnel. The findings provide specific recommendations, which can help other student-athlete career development personnel improve their programs and adds to the holistic care literature.

Irene Royo Campos, Helena Royo Ochoa

Tourism contribution to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and Gross Value Added (GVA)
M. Anda, Merce Iuliana Ioana, I. Tiberiu
et al.
The overall evolution of the economy is usually appreciated by two macroeconomic indicators GDP and GVA, which by their value gives us clear information on the state of the economy. Gross domestic product (GDP), the main macroeconomic aggregate of national accounts, is the final result of the production activity of resident producer units and which corresponds to the value of goods and services produced by these units for final consumption. Gross Value Added (GVA) is the balance of the production account and is measured as the difference between the value of the goods and services produced (valued at basic prices) and the intermediate consumption (valued at the buyer's prices), thus representing the new value created in the production process. GVA is calculated before calculating the consumption of fixed capital. Since 1990, we have been confronted with a major restructuring of the way GDP and GVA are created due to the intensive process of restructuring the economy. In the paper we will analyze the basis of the processing of national statistical data, how the tourism component of the tertiary sector contributes to the formation of the aggregate indicators presented above. In 2016, Romania had a GDP of 169.6 billion euros, below the Czech level (174.4 billion euros), Greece (175.9 billion euros) and Portugal (184.9 billion euros). Data series published by the European Statistical Office show that in the first quarter of this year, Romania's GDP adjusted for seasonal influences was 44.2 billion euros, while the value of GDP- Greece was 43.96 billion euros, the Czech Republic's 44.85 billion euros, and Portugal's 47.37 billion euros. In terms of GVA training, Romania is included in the European Union's Statistical Yearbook 201 6 as the country with the largest contributions to the Gross Value Added in the economy from industry, agriculture and construction, simultaneously with the lowest Public sector contribution (administration, defense, education, health and social welfare, etc.) Although professional, scientific and technical activities have seen the largest increase in the share of Gross Value Added training, they remain below the average of 10.4% Registered on the whole EU. There is an increase in the art, entertainment, recreation and other activities related to tourism - which brought us near the European customs and contributed to the "structural convection" of the Romanian economy. Touristic activity, particularly complex, with upstream and downstream implications, generates a tourism industry, whose components contribute to the formation of GDP and national Gross Value Added We will analyze the share of tourism in Romania's Gross Domestic Product in the period 2008-2014, gross value added in the tourism industry direct gross value added from tourism and gross domestic product of tourism in 2013 and 2014. Keywords: macroeconomic indicators, tourism industry, Gross Domestic Product, Gross Value Added economy
Near and similar restaurants: competitors or allies?
Alexander Sánchez-Rodríguez, Margarita De Miguel-Guzmán , Gelmar García-Vidal
et al.
The proximity of businesses targeting the same market segment, meeting the same needs and operating in a similar way is generally believed to indicate more competition. However, this situation can be beneficial for the companies involved, and it may not necessarily generate an adverse environment. This study sought to analyse a group of restaurants that operate under similar conditions and that are located within the same area in order to identify the potential benefits and drawbacks of choosing this strategy to deal with market pressures. The research was based on a sample of 1,358 customers from 52 small restaurants. Diverse information-gathering techniques were combined such as observations, interviews and surveys. The data gathered was used to characterise different groups of variables’ behaviour based on descriptive statistics. In addition, bivariate statistics were utilised to test the hypotheses, while multivariate statistics were used to conduct correspondence analysis. The results reveal that, in the cases analysed, the parties involved benefit from the existing condition when a process of distribution of demand is present and advertising expenses are minimised.

US intelligence and its future: aligning with a new and complex environment
William M. Nolte
When then Secretary of State Lawrence Eagleburger remarked at the end of the Cold War that at some point we’d all feel nostalgia for the Soviet Union, that may have been taken as humorous. Amusing or not, American national security remains in transition when it comes to dealing with non-state actors and non-peer states. The Trump administration’s reset of the national security balance back toward emerging peers or near-peers is perhaps a reflection of how the world has shifted from the immediate post-9/11 view. It may also reflect an institutional tendency to wish to confront adversaries or potential adversaries we are more comfortable confronting. The last major events forcing review and reform of American national security were, respectively, the collapse of the Soviet Union and the terrorist attacks of September 2001. The former led to some significant changes in the military instruments of American security and several studies of the intelligence instrument. In retrospect, the period between 1991 and 2001 produced on the intelligence side little more than budget cuts and some rearrangement of the administrative architecture of the intelligence community. American intelligence in 2001 closely – too closely – resembled a trimmed down version of its Cold War self. September 2001 produced significant changes in such areas as homeland security and the creation of a director of national intelligence (DNI). The Homeland Security Act, the Patriot Act, and the Intelligence Reform and Prevention Act promised a new look at significant aspects of national security, but all suffered from the post-crisis, ‘we need to do something!’ climate in which they were enacted. In the nearly two decades since, the Congress has provided some course corrections to the Patriot Act, but on the whole it has chosen not to review the other components of the post-9/11 legislative package. Homeland security remains a partially digested, partially accepted phenomenon for a nation with a congenital (and understandable) aversion to application of national power to ‘domestic’ security issues. As for the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act (IRTPA) and its signature feature, the DNI, a decade and a half of experience strongly suggests it has underachieved. The projected trade in which the director central intelligence transferred his or her community leadership role to the DNI but which left the DNI without control of the Central Intelligence Agency does not seem to have produced the enhanced role the new office was to have over the several agencies of US intelligence. At the time of the IRTPA’s passage, it was fashionable to speculate on how much greater authority over the intelligence community the DNI would have. It is at least now reasonable to conclude that the DNI has, for most of its existence, exerted less authority over the community than did the DCI in the pre-IRTPA era. In fact, it may well be that the DNI is in the worst possible position for an executive in any organization, especially a bureaucratic organization. That is, the DNI appears to have more responsibility than authority. Even a first-tour branch chief in a local office of parks and recreation would recognize this as a situation to be escaped from at the first opportunity. The post-9/11/2011 American intelligence establishment has not experienced anything as dramatic as the collapse of the Soviet Union or the attacks of September 2001, but the years since 2001 have nevertheless provided equally fundamental changes in the external environments

Online travel agencies: factors influencing tourists’ purchase decisions
Ivete Pinto, Conceição Castro
This study sought to analyse tourists’ purchasing behaviours involving
online travel agencies (OTAs) (i.e. Booking.com and Expedia.com).
The research focused on identifying which factors most strongly
influence buyers’ decision making and whether the degree of
importance given to factors changes according to tourists’
sociodemographic, economic or travel characteristics. The results
show that most tourists book their accommodations through OTAs
mainly because browsing is easier and better prices are offered. The
results further suggest that the most important factor when booking
accommodations is price, although the overall buying process is quite
complex. Online reviews, promotions and photos are also important.
The importance online tourists give to price varies by age group,
income and country of residence. Online reviews are significant
regardless of tourists’ characteristics, except for age. Cluster analyses
additionally revealed three different tourist segments based on the
importance given to price, online reviews, promotions and photos

Food services and customer loyalty in the hospitality industry
Vitor Roslindo Kuhn , Antônio Carlos Benetti, Sara Joana Gadotti dos Anjos
Understanding the needs and expectations of customers is a major
competitive tool. Their perception of food service quality has been
increasingly studied. An understanding of this topic can help managers
to develop strategies to improve customer satisfaction and increase
loyalty. The objective of the research is to verify the predictive power
of food service quality elements on customer loyalty intentions. This
research is exploratory with quantitative approach applied to a hotel in
Balneário Camboriú. We used multiple regression analysis to achieve
results. The constructs analysed were: Service Brigade; Management;
Menu; Ancillary Services; and Physical Features, which did not prove to
be significant to Loyalty. The most significant construct was Service
Brigade, a finding consistent with studies that show that employee
training is key to increase the level of satisfaction and loyalty.

Urban Panorama Tourism Planning A View From River Tour Course In Post-Three Gorges Era
Wei Song, Wei Jia Tian, Huan Wu

Diversity, Flexibility And Identity Mechanisms For Recycling Mature Tourist Destinations
Biel Horrach Estarellas

Ecotourism, Agro-Tourism and Rural Tourism in The European Union
Maria-Irina Ana
Ecotourism, agro-tourism, rural tourism are forms of tourism that emerged in the last century, becoming
increasingly important sectors of the tourism industry worldwide. The new kinds of life-style, the evolving
tourist behaviour and continuously changing customers’ preferences coupled with the widespread concern about
environment, industrial heritage and sustainable development are all factors that led to the expansion of these
niche market types of tourism. The objectives of this paper are to research important implications and identify
significant trends of ecotourism, agro-tourism and rural tourism in the European Union, focusing on the New
Member States area, as there is a lot of potential for the expansion of these forms of tourism in the region. The
Old Member States earn significant income from agro-tourism, while in the New Member States this is rather an
unexploited opportunity, despite the fact that the cultural heritage and number of unspoilt natural areas is much
more abundant than in the West. This paper will also look at the policies in this field, as the European Union is
very interested and active in supporting agro-tourism and sustainable development, and many policies,
programmes and initiatives address the three types of niche tourism. Key features, economic, environmental and
socio-cultural benefits, as well as current and future challenges for ecotourism, agro-tourism and rural tourism in
the entire European Union, but more thoroughly in the New Member States will also be addressed, with the
purpose of creating a comprehensive paper, able to convince the scholars and practitioners in the field to pay
more attention to this rather new topic, as a proactive approach can enable investments and attract more tourists
to the area.

Manipulations of Users's Behavior Under "Social Monitoring" in Tourist Services
Liviu Dediu
The influence of many factors determines, along with technological and communications developments, an
increase in the speed that is required to solve any task in the time unit. Not in vain, this sense of shortening time
was perceived as “Time has no patience with us.” Control can give rise to positive or negative effects. When the
balance generated by the law that coordinates the processes is influenced by factors that apply control
procedures, we can talk about the likelihood of manipulation actions. Can the users of tourist services be
manipulated by “social monitoring”? To find the answer to this question we need to find out if we have people
who imagine at the theoretical and practical level the study and the application of manipulation theories, legal
entities that undertake to provide specific services based on the manipulative control of some target subjects,
customers requesting such services and, last but not least, a market to be presented with a portfolio of services
verified in practice.
