The purpose of this study was to explore intercollegiate adaptive athletics program structures in the United States. As athletics programs can be seen as open systems, an open systems model of sport organizations was used to guide the study. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with seven participants associated with intercollegiate adaptive athletics programs. A qualitative description design was used to gain a foundational understanding of program structures based on the programs’ environments, inputs, processes, and outputs. Findings suggest intercollegiate adaptive athletics program structures are highly varied and complex open systems that are closely intertwined with their environments and have observable inputs, process, and outputs. This study offers foundational knowledge about existing program structures and indicates that intercollegiate adaptive athletics programs can be understood as open systems. Implications for future research and practice are discussed.

Las actividades turísticas dentro del Área Nacional de Recreación El Boliche [ANREB] provocan beneficios e impactos pues cada acción del visitante dentro del área natural protegida [ANP] implica cambios y afectaciones al entorno natural. La investigación parte de un análisis profundo que permitirá implementar prontas soluciones para consolidar la gestión sostenible del ANP. Bajo esta premisa, se validó y aplicó la metodología Límite de cambio aceptable [LAC] como punto de partida para la definición de una propuesta de mejora de la experiencia turística y recreativa. Los resultados alcanzados determinaron que el nivel de afectación es de bajo riesgo por cuanto se mantiene en condiciones adecuadas; esto permitió conocer el nivel de afectación ambiental de la zona de uso público, turismo y recreación, a fin de controlar el nivel de la experiencia del visitante con estrategias como el reciclaje, el uso de productos reutilizables, programas de educación ambiental y el respeto de las normas de comportamiento ambiental. Estas estrategias son planteadas para reducir o mitigar la afectación ambiental sin descuidar la satisfacción de la experiencia del visitante y los efectos que ocasionan la acumulación de basura, la apertura de senderos no planificados, la incidencia de las malas prácticas ambientales sobre las especies de flora y fauna.

This study explores the growing significance of Large Language Models (LLMs) in tourism, for their current and potential applications. It aims to achieve two primary objectives: first, to develop a novel hetero-intelligence framework merging human and artificial intelligence (AI) to address contemporary sustainability challenges in tourism; second, to validate this framework by applying it to sustainable tourism planning, assessing LLMs' capabilities and limitations. The research employs a hetero-intelligence performance test, contrasting human intelligence and AI contributions in sustainable tourism planning with overtourism as a proxy challenge. Results showed that hetero-intelligence could effectively address sustainability issues in tourism, provided human and AI strengths and weaknesses are understood. LLMs proved useful in diagnosing and proposing solutions for sustainability-related issues. However, a rigorous methodological framework is essential to ensure unbiased outcomes. The research offers practical guidelines for applying this approach and significantly contributes to epistemological and empirical dimensions, providing valuable insights for researchers and tourism planners. The study calls for more empirical research to validate the methodology and explore ethical and legal dimensions, extending hetero-intelligence applications to broader sustainability challenges in tourism.

La reactivación del turismo se había estudiado por la influencia del habitus de traslado y estancia, pero con la contingencia sanitaria este proceso estuvo mediatizado por la información de los lugares con protocolos de bioseguridad. El objetivo del presente trabajo fue contrastar un modelo de los determinantes de la estancia, considerando las variables mediadoras de la información. Una confirmación, psicométrico y estudio transversal se llevó a cabo con una selección de 100 estudiantes de una universidad pública en el centro de México. Se encontró una estructura factorial que explicaba el 61% de la varianza y estableció la intención de transferir como predictor, sugiriendo la extensión del trabajo hacia protocolos de bioseguridad.

El turismo de salud se ha posicionado como un fenómeno social relevante a nivel internacional, lo que permite el desplazamiento de un gran número de turistas, hecho que provoca que los destinos cuenten con ofertas competitivas de turismo médico. La presente investigación se ubica en la ciudad de Puebla, en el que se busca obtener datos a través de los turistas que llegan por motivos de salud, para determinar si la ciudad cuenta con los servicios suficientes de medicina, infraestructura, ubicación, entre otras variables con el objetivo de determinar la viabilidad turística-comercial de un clúster médico dentro de ella, lo que aporta una considerable derrama económica, el desarrollo de infraestructura y una fuerza laboral. De acuerdo con los resultados conseguidos y el análisis estadístico, se obtuvo una correlación positiva en todas sus variables, concluyendo que la ciudad de Puebla es una zona viable para establecer un clúster médico debido a su referente comercial sobre todo con los estados del sureste del país.

La sustentabilidad en la provincia de San Luis (Argentina), con eje en la salvaguardia del patrimonio cultural, ha sido parte de los objetivos de la agenda política desde comienzos del siglo XXI. En este marco jugaron un papel central las poblaciones indígenas, para las cuales se efectuaron programas de restitución de tierras y construcción de viviendas con el fin de promover su reactivación cultural. En este contexto, por medio de un estudio cualitativo basado en la realización de entrevistas, observaciones participantes y relevamiento de fuentes documentales, se analiza el caso de construcción de “Pueblo Ranquel”, un asentamiento de familias indígenas rankülches inaugurado en 2009, que fue activado principalmente desde sectores gubernamentales para el desarrollo del turismo, en desmedro del involucramiento de la comunidad. En este análisis se concluye sobre la importancia de la participación en las políticas culturales y se proponen lineamientos metodológicos para una gestión participativa y sustentable.

There has been little research into the comparison of historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) to predominantly white institutions (PWIs) in recent years.  With growing athletic department budgets, it is important to understand how HBCUs financially compare to their PWI counterparts.  Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine how HBCU athletic departments compare to their peer PWIs in terms of athletic department spending and to conduct a budgetary analysis of HBCU athletic departments. To examine differences in athletics budgets, data were collected from the U.S. Department of Education’s Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act (EADA) Survey.  NCAA member institution peer groups with HBCU members were selected for this study.  Institutional data include salary, recruitment, operation, and scholarship expenses and revenue for peer groups. An ANOVA was conducted to compare peer institutions, institutions in the same region, by division, and overall.  The results indicated HBCU peer groups are spending significantly less compared to their PWI counterparts.  Additionally, among HBCU institutions, most athletic programs are spending the most on athletic aid expenses.  Similarly, HBCUs are earning significantly less revenue compared to their peers. Athletic department administrators can use the results of this study to help create budgets comparable to peer institutions.

<p class="Pa5"><strong>The purpose</strong> of this work was to develop technology for physical therapy of flat feet by means of taekwon-do and to check its effectiveness in students of all ages.</p><p class="Pa5"><strong>Methods</strong>: analysis of scientific and methodological literature; pedagogical observations; pedagogical methods; instrumental research methods (photometry methods using the BIG FOOT program, myotonometry and electromyography) methods of mathematical statistics. The survey involved 60 young athletes aged 8, 12 and 14 years with flat feet, who were engaged in the Taekwon-Do Sports Club in Ivano-Frankivsk.</p><p class="Pa5"><strong>Results</strong>. After the study was the technology of physical therapy for flat feet in young athletes has been substantiated and developed, which is based on the didactic, general, organizational and methodological foundations of the process of correcting the vaulted apparatus of the foot and studying the state of muscles related to the anterior and posterior myofascial kinematic chains of the lower leg and foot. The technology of physical therapy provides for the use of taekwondo physical exercises, defines the goals, objectives and principles of corrective measures, forms and methods of conducting taekwondo classes, dosing principles and exercise parameters based on the creation of individual plans for young athletes of a particular age group. The developed technology of physical therapy provides for the implementation of appropriate measures at the preparatory, main and final stages.</p><p class="Pa5"><strong>Conclution</strong>. Experimental verification of the developed technology of physical therapy for flat feet in young athletes of different ages with using anthropometric, instrumental (photo, myotonometric, electromyographic) research methods proved its e efficiency, which was manifested in improving linear and angular characteristics of the foot, increasing the tone and amplitude-frequency characteristics of muscles, increasing physical qualities and improving methods and techniques of taekwondo.</p>

<p><em>The aim of the work</em> is to study the life style of university teachers at the age of 50-65 years, depending on the level of physical activity and its connection with behavioral habits. <em>Material and methods</em>. For a survey of 150 respondents, a special questionnaire was developed. Anthropometric examination was performed, according to which the body mass index was calculated for each sex-age group according to the generally accepted formula. All data are processed by the method of parametric statistics. <em>Results.</em> The general tendency of all respondents among the majority of respondents indicates that teachers of the elderly spend much of their free time watching TV or reading and have very little physical activity. The majority of the respondents are engaged in housing affairs, but they want to deal with public affairs. There is a tendency for non-smoking, only a small number of those surveyed are smokers, and the others have never smoked, or quit smoking more than 10 years ago. A large number of smokers is observed among the partners of the respondents. The majority have many friends and relatives who can help in achieving the highest level of physical activity, but few partners of the sportsmen are engaged in sports regularly. Some habits that are useful for health are observed in the life styles of all participants in the survey. <strong>Conclusion. </strong>In general, the obtained data testify to the expediency of searching for effective ways of attracting university teachers of pre-retirement age into active recreational activities. In addition, the study has proved the availability of the necessary spare time reserves.</p>

La realidad cultural de una zona es argumento más que suficiente para singularizar una oferta turística, aunque por varias circunstancias se realizan prácticas que han llegado a desvirtuar ese potencial inicial, en arras de un beneficio turístico mucho más cercano a una estandarización popular. Este hecho está relacionado con una discutida práctica ética de la industria del ocio y sus promotores. Las experiencias en este sentido no se limitan a un país concreto, sino que se ha practicado en muchas destinaciones turísticas ya consolidadas. Sus consecuencias en la actualidad pueden ser de un alcance insospechado, ya que el turista cada vez tiene más información sobre el contexto en el que se encuentra la destinación, y tiende a valorar más la autenticidad y la singularidad. Entre esos atractivos turísticos y los viajeros se sitúan los intermediaros y los promotores; las empresas en las que se emplazan los auténticos vehiculadores de las propuestas, que dispuestos a dinamizar la destinación ponen en valor muchos de los aspectos potenciales de la zona. Es el contexto de los mediadores turísticos que actúan desde tres áreas bien distintas: la administración, las agencias y los establecimientos de alojamiento. De las tres tipologías, la tercera es la que define a los animadores turísticos, uno de los perfiles menos analizados, aunque pieza clave del engranaje turístico. Sus funciones esenciales (relación, producción y organización) son las que han de posibilitar las propuestas adecuadas, decorosas y reales para que la mediación ejercida sea lo más auténtica y fiel al contexto cultural en el que se encuentra el establecimiento, y posibilitando una óptima dinamización que afecte positivamente al viajero, a la zona y a las intenciones mercantilistas de las empresas que ejercen su mediación.

<p class="27"><strong>Анотація.</strong> У статті наведені результати досліджень, що свідчать про позитивний вплив вправ координаційної спрямованості, що виконувались сполученим методом на рівень фізичної, спеціальної технічної підготовленості та передстартових станів гандболістів 13-14 років. Підвищення рівню підготовленості до змагань гандболістів призвело до покращення ефективності їх ігрових показників.</p><p class="27"><strong>Ключові слова</strong>: юні гандболісти, підготовка до змагань, вправи координаційної спрямованості, вправи сполученого впливу.</p><p class="27"><strong>Анотация</strong>. В статье представлены результаты исследований, которые свидетельствуют про позитивное влияние упражнений координационной направленности, что выполнялись сопряженным методом на уровень физической, специальной технической подготовленности и предстартовые состояния гандболистов 13-14 лет. Повышение уровня подготовленности к соревнованиям привели к достоверному улучшению эффективности их игровых показателей.</p><p class="27"><strong>Ключевые слова</strong>: юные гандболисты, подготовка к соревнованиям, упражнения координационной направленности</p><p class="27"><strong>Abstract</strong>. No presente trabalho efetua-se uma análise dos stakeholders das unidades hoteleiras algarvias e da influência por eles exercida nas ações de gestão ambiental destes estabelecimentos. Utilizam-se as técnicas estatísticas de Análise de Componentes Principais e de No presente trabalho efetua-se uma análise dos stakeholders das unidades hoteleiras algarvias e da influência por eles exercida nas ações de gestão ambiental destes estabelecimentos. Utilizam-se as técnicas estatísticas de Análise de Componentes Principais e de Análise de Equações Estruturais, com recurso aos Mínimos Quadrados Parciais (Partial Least Squares-PLS), método cuja aplicação se pretende exemplificar. Os resultados obtidos permitem diferenciar os stakeholders em função da pressão ambiental que lhes é percecionada e detetar diferentes influências por eles exercidas nas duas dimensões da gestão ambiental empiricamente determinadas.

The competitive advantage of companies rests upon work attitudes and the behavior of their employees. Work-life balance initiatives are considered to be an important antecedent of employees’ wellbeing, and thus a factor that highly conditions employees’ work attitudes and behavior. This study explores these relationships in the tourism industry, where hotels and restaurants offer day and night services that could harm work-life balance. Also, in the tourism industry, the national diversity of employees is continuously rising as a result of the increasing movement of people across borders. According to cross-cultural studies, differences in cultural dimensions (e.g., uncertainty avoidance) cause an impact on work-related variables. Thus, people’s need for work-life balance may depend on their national cultures, which is why the moderating effect of national culture is under study. The empirical analysis carried out on a sample of 745 employees in tourism firms located in 17 European countries confirms the moderating role of national culture on the effect that human resource practices regarding work-life balance have on employees’ well-being at work.

Este estudo investiga os inter-relacionamentos entre a ligação à comunidade, o envolvimento na comunidade, a gestão do poder público (GPP), os benefícios e custos percebidos do turismo e o apoio ao desenvolvimento turístico sustentável (DTS). Foi adoptada uma metodologia quantitativa sendo a recolha de dados feita através de um questionário aplicado pessoalmente a uma amostra de 300 residentes da cidade histórica de Lamego, no Norte de Portugal. Para analisar os relacionamentos propostos foi usada a técnica de modelos de equações estruturais. Os resultados mostram que a ligação à comunidade e a GPP na actividade turística exercem uma influência positiva e significativa nos benefícios percebidos do turismo. O efeito do envolvimento da comunidade no apoio (dos residentes) ao DTS foi suportado. No que diz respeito aos impactes do turismo, este estudo sugere, também, uma influência positiva entre os benefícios percebidos e o apoio ao DTS. Os resultados reforçam a importância de analisar a percepção dos residentes no planeamento e tomada de decisão de políticas para o desenvolvimento do turismo.

Hotels consume a huge amount of resources in the way of energy and water, and many are built in fragile environments. Despite the strong interest in environmental sustainability, hotel companies have an uneasy relationship with trying to ensure green credentials while pleasing their customers and maintaining competitive advantage. How do hotel companies devise and manage their strategies in their relationship with the natural environment? What are the factors that influence their choice? This paper identifies four important antecedents to corporate environmentalism and examines them within political/economic framework bounded by stakeholder theory. The emergence of environmental issues and the implications for strategy are debated and the theoretical and practical implications of integrating environmental issues into corporate strategies are discussed.

Perante a atual conjuntura, as empresas estão inseridas num mercado empresarial cada vez mais competitivo, tornando‐se urgente uma adaptação ou modificação da sua gestão. Sabe‐se que é através da inovação que as empresas conseguem ser competitivas, pelo que é importante a sua implementação constante e a consequentemente procura de novos produtos e de novos processos de produção, para poderem fazer face à concorrência e manterem a sua posição competitiva no mercado. Dada a importância do estudo da temática da inovação nas empresas, este artigo tem como objetivo analisar as diferentes perspetivas da inovação nas pequenas e médias empresas (PME’s) da Beira Interior de Portugal. Na metodologia adotada utilizou‐se como instrumento de investigação o questionário do CIS III 2008 e o tratamento estatístico dos dados foi elaborado com base numa análise fatorial. Da análise dos dados podemos concluir, que os gestores inovam tendo em conta três perspetivas muito importantes: por um lado com o objetivo de reduzir custos e assegurar a sustentabilidade ambiental, por outro pela necessidade de atualização, e por outro, numa perspetiva de orientação para o mercado.

El presente trabajo es un intento explicativo desde una doble óptica , teórica y aplicada, sobre las posibilidades que ofrece el turismo cultural en la dinamización del tejido local en espacios periféricos del Mediterráneo occidental. Un proyecto de investigación de la Unión Europea sirve de marco de análisis para mostrar cuáles son estas potencialidades en materia de turismo cultural a escala local y regional. Enfocado a los aspectos endógenos del territorio, como el patrimonio cultural y natural en tanto que principal atractivo turístico, constituye una alternativa al monocultivo del turismo de sol y playa, que en el caso de la Costa Brava es un modelo al borde de la saturación. En los primeros apartados se ofrece una visión teórica del fenómeno, y más adelante se muestra esta realidad territorial, con los escenarios que el proyecto pretende llevar a cabo.
