Metamorphoses of electronic nomad games: from a banal show to an existential drama /
Elena Iakovleva /
The object of the study is an electronic nomad who creates and posts elements of their own existential spectacle on messenger channels and social media pages. It is formed on the basis of episodes recorded through mobile devices from the nomad's life, both real and possible. In such an existential play, the electronic nomad performs several roles simultaneously, acting as a playwright, director and actor. A certain part of the episodes turns out to be staged, imagined and/or desired, but did not happen in reality. The design helps to make images and information look as attractive as possible, allowing them to process their textual, visual, graphic and audio components. The nomad positions his image in the play as a reference, while at the same time giving expert assessment or mentoring recommendations on current social issues. The nomad deliberately makes the existential play available to a large audience of subscribers, seducing them with private publicity, but at the same time showing the "will to power." In the existential performance of the electronic nomad, certain risks are revealed that do not allow him to realize existence and intention towards transcendence. As a result, the nomad does not understand himself, and his existential performance in messengers and social networks turns into a personal drama.

ONTOLOGY FOR DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION OF BULGARIAN DANCE FOLKLORE
Tsvetomira Ivanova Kazashka, Veneta Tabakova-Komsalova
This paper presents an ontology describing Bulgarian dance folklore as part of Bulgaria's cultural and historical heritage. The study focuses on a specific dance piece – "Horo in Sofia", choreographed by Kiril Djenev. The ontology is developed in accordance with the CCO (Cataloging Cultural Objects) standard, which provides guidelines for data content standards. The created ontological structure serves as a knowledge base intended for use by intelligent agents. The application of standards significantly facilitates data dissemination, with CCO providing clear and precise definitions of the attributes an object should possess. The ontologies, developed in Protégé, are designed to meet the requirements of this standard. Five key characteristics were used to represent the dance: ethnographic area, artistic-social function, participant composition, number of participants, and musical accompaniment. Semantic modeling utilizes RDF, and the additional application of RDFS and OWL provides a powerful toolkit for modeling and creating ontologies. This work lays the foundation for the digital transformation of Bulgarian dance heritage and provides a valuable resource for researchers, teachers, and students. The development is part of a broader project focused on the digitization of cultural and historical heritage.

The Effective Communication Skills of Preservice Teachers: Challenges, Changes, and Future İmplications
Esin Hazar
This pre-experimental mixed design study comprised pre and post-self-report measures as well as the conduct of in-depth interviews with preservice teachers sought to ascertain the effect of an elective drama course on effective communication skills, identify challenges to effective communication faced by preservice teachers, and learn how student teachers perceived the course's impact about previous challenges and potential career implications. Pre-interviews and post-interviews, pre-test and post-test applications were carried out with preservice teachers majoring in early childhood education in their senior year. The findings revealed that the preservice teachers' effective communication skills improved significantly in the areas of ego-enhancing language, active/participative listening, and I message as a result of taking the drama course. The drama activities primarily assisted the participants in overcoming the emotional and interactional challenges that limited their ability to communicate effectively and provided guidance for the instructional process as well as for building relationships with parents, administrators, colleagues, and students.
‘Big’ and ‘little’ Quo Vadis? in the United States, 1913–1916: Using GIS to map rival modes of feature cinema during the transitional era
Jeffrey Klenotic
This article emanates from a geospatial database of over 600 premieres of the Cines company’s Quo Vadis? (1913), an eight-reel film distributed by George Kleine, and nearly 250 premieres of the Quo Vadis Film Company’s Quo Vadis? (1913), a three-reel film of ambiguous origins distributed by Paul De Outo. By mapping local premieres of both films across the United States from 1913 through 1916, the data show with spatiotemporal precision the spread of Quo Vadis? as one of cinema’s early blockbuster titles. Yet within this national phenomenon, the two films’ footprints reveal differing cultural geographies served by competing efforts to feature Quo Vadis? using alternative practices of distribution and exhibition. The study finds that Quo Vadis? played a more complex role mediating the rise of features than is yet known, serving rival modes of cinema where longer, more expensive films were celebrated but also contested.

Experience of neighbourhood violence and mental distress in Brazilian favelas: a cross-sectional household survey
Marcelo Santos Cruz, Eliana Sousa Silva, Zivile Jakaite
et al.
Background: Living in informal settlements with extensive neighbourhood violence has been shown to be linked with poorer mental health. However, there is little evidence as to whether different levels of personal experiences and fears of neighbourhood violence within such settlements affect mental health. This study assessed such personal experiences and fears of residents in favelas in Brazil. We tested whether variations predict mental health symptoms and quality of life, and whether this is independent of the influence of sociodemographic characteristics and poverty. Methods: In a population-based survey of adults living in a group of favelas in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, we assessed: sociodemographic characteristics; extent of personal experiences and fear of neighbourhood violence; mental health symptoms on the Brief Symptom Inventory; and quality of life on the Manchester Short Assessment of Quality of Life. Univariate and multivariate regressions were fit to predict mental health symptoms and quality of life. Findings: We interviewed 1,211 residents. Both more experiences of neighbourhood violence and more fear of violence predicted higher levels of mental health symptoms and poorer quality of life. In multivariate regression analyses, the associations remained significant after adjusting for the influence of other factors, in particular female gender, younger age, and marked poverty. Interpretation: Even within a context in which the whole population can be exposed to violence and economic disadvantage, individual variations in the experiences of violence still make a significant difference for mental distress and quality of life. Policies to improve mental health and quality of life of residents in informal settlements need to address risk factors separately, most importantly the personal experiences of violence and poverty. Funding: Economic and Social Research Council and Arts and Humanities Research Council in the United Kingdom. Financiamento: Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) e Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), ambos do Reino Unido.

María A. Semilla Durán
The paper proposes to analyze the novel 2666 by Roberto Bolaño from the notion of recognition, reinterpreted by Jesús Martín Barbero and Hermann Herlinghaus in the framework of their work on melodramatic imagination. An essential component of the melodramatic dramaturgy, the recognition acquires here a much broader significance, be it used in a literal sense or in the metaphorical sense of the term, allowing thus to tackle the issue of the social constructions of subjectivity. Besides we establish the link between this search of recognition, which reiterates itself on multiple discursive levels and registers, and the concept of precarious life developed, among others, by Judith Butler. We analyze the final three books of 2666, to show how as the chaos is introduced, the melodramatic figures are increasingly visible and canonical, and how the presence of evil saturates the realm he portrays. The tension between knowledge and re-knowledge is constant and open to subjective interpretations; the invisible and those denied visibility are becoming a place in writing, be it metaphorical, fictitious, or real. Encounters multiply and their point is to oblige them to face to their problematic existence and their denied memories.

Specific Synergy of Content and Form in Huang Ji’s Vocal Miniature to Liu Xiang’s Poem «Going Through the Snow»
Mengmeng Chen
The aim of the article is to reveal the specific synergy of content and form in Huang Ji’s vocal miniature to Liu Xiang’s poem “Going through the Snow”.
Research methodology. The comparative analysis applied in the article made it possible to establish morphogenetic and meaningful links between music and poetic text of Huang Ji’s vocal miniature to Liu Xiang’s poem “Going through the Snow” and traditional Chinese painting. The leading intonemes of the vocal miniature have been determined by the intonational analysis, among which the intoneme of the bell holds a unique place.
Results. The author examines the specific performance character of the comprehensive content in the small form typical of Huang Ji’s vocal miniature to Liu Xiang’s poem “Going through the Snow”. The syntheses of signs of expressiveness inherent in music, poetry and painting, the principle of allegorical presentation of the plot have contributed to the concentration of the volumetric content in the small form. The embodiment of the poetic text of a song of national painting, which is defined as a moving perspective, has led to the emergence of moving landscapes and plot. The Chinese vocal miniature genre is defined as a song-scroll by the type of content development. The journey from winter to spring is interpreted as a symbolic reflection of the path of cognition of the world. It has been established that intonemes of the song drama have affirmative and symbolic significance. The intoneme of the bell is inherent in the unity of symbolic and realistic functions.
Novelty. An attempt is made at identifying a song-scroll as the genre type of the Chinese vocal miniature, arising from the infusion of the features of classical national painting to the song drama.
The practical significance is determined by the expediency of using its provisions both in further scientific developments regarding the genre specific character of the Chinese vocal miniature, and in the process of implementing the interpretative versions of the song masterpiece by Huang Ji.

Deleuze and Kieślowski: On the Cinema of Exhaustion
Eddy Troy
This article revisits Krzysztof Kieślowski's films in light of Gilles Deleuze's writings on cinema. Its central argument is that, while Kieślowski's films register what Deleuze calls exhausted life, or la vie épuisée, they also offer an affirmative response to exhaustion. Deleuze's articulation of exhaustion in the context of film emerges first in Cinema 2: The Time-Image, where the term is posited as the denial of life's capacity to transform itself. In the context of Kieślowski's films and the communist milieux from which they emerge, exhaustion as a film-philosophical concept acquires a socio-political specificity otherwise lacking in Deleuze. Kieślowski's films thus provide the basis for reading exhaustion as an affective correlate of what Deleuze famously calls the “crisis of the action-image”. Stressing Kieślowski's resistance to the hegemony of exhaustion – and what the director calls a “world without representation” – this article emphasizes films such as From the City of Łódź (Z miasta Łodzi, 1969), The Scar (Blizna, 1978), Camera Buff (Amator, 1979), Three Colors: Red (Trois Couleurs: Rouge, 1994). Reading Kieślowski and communist Poland's repressive socio-political context in light of the Deleuzian sense of exhaustion vivifies the affective dimension of the director's oeuvre. Surveying the director's earlier documentary work, his decision to transition to fiction, and his reflections on ethics and politics, this article concludes by arguing for the generative, life-affirming character of Kieślowski's cinema of exhaustion.

Chról, Emil
The Internal Evolution of Characters in Yevgeni Grishkovetz’ Monodramas: The paper reveals the internal evolution of characters in Yevgeni Grishkovetz’s five monodramas: „Как я съел собаку”, “Одновременно”, “Дредноуты”, “Планета”, “+1”. Grishkovetz belongs to the New Drama literary movement in Russia and is one of the most famous representatives of monodramas in contemporary Russian theatre. The analysis reveals that all of Grishkovetz’s monodramas present one and the same character: an unspecified man around 35-45 years of age. The author describes the development of this monolithic character through his internal changes.

Claudio Longhi
<p>The recent death of Luca Ronconi (February 21st, 2015) became the occasion to retrace his artistic path, of a forever restless ‘adolescent’, and to understand better his typical traits. Among projects that will remain forever unfulfilled, titanic failures and visionary shows, the keystone of the poetics of Ronconi turns out to be an inexhaustible search of the infinite, in a dialectic between the exceeding of the limit and the strenuous comparison with its inescapable necessity. The theatre of Ronconi, in its giddy pursuit of ‘what has no end’, confesses its most genuine nature: an ‘anatomical’ theatre of death.</p>

Fernando Pessoa, the homoerotic drama
Fernando Arenas
This article maps the history of the critical reception of homoerotic desire in Pessoa's work; it brings to bear the question of homoeroticism within the paradigm of "local readings" of Pessoa; it analyses various relevant texts; and finally it suggests - on the basis of some well-known texts as well as previously unpublished ones - how the question of homoerotic desire allows for the possibility of a less metaphysical and even more nuanced global reading of Pessoa's work.

Lorenzo Galletti
The massive, pragmatic and intellectual work by Peter Stein on the Oresteia of Aeschylus perfectly summarizes the German director’s conception of ‘classic’. This essay reviews the twenty-years period which started with the first experimental approach to ancient tragedy by the Schaubühne to the staging of the trilogy in Moscow in 1994. In his work, Stein investigates the origins of western theatre, compares the role of gestures and words at the dawn of theatre with that of the contemporary age, and then moves, in line with the evolution of the Aeschylus trilogy plot, to the study of the purely political connotation of the text. Precisely the post-soviet Russia represented the ideal setting where to reproduce the rite of dismissal of high hierarchies, whether of divine nature or not, and the affirmation of the new democratic system.
