CKM Phases and Interference CP Violation

Gustavo Castelo Branco, Luís Lavoura, João Paulo Silva

Abstract The parameter relevant for interference CP violation in the transitions B A,IA1 in that model. In this chapter we assume that qs /PB,, is given by a phase, but allow this phase to differ from the standard-model (SM) one-cf. eqn (30.33). As for the decay amplitudes, we assume that they are dominate by SM diagrams, but allow non-unitarity of the CKM matrix to alter the corresponding phases from their allowed values in the SM. We start by assuming that the decay amplitudes are dominated by a single weak phase. study the effect of subdominant contributions to the decay, still within the SM.Let us assume that the amplitudes are dominated by the tree-level diagrams of the SM.

Fin-de-Siècle Salonica

M. Şükrü Hanioğlu

This chapter discusses Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's childhood in the ancient Macedonian capital of Salonica. The future founder of the Turkish Republic was born one winter, either in 1880 or in 1881. His upbringing was more liberal than that of most lower-class Muslims. No one in his family's circle of friends and relatives, for instance, practiced polygamy. Likewise, his father reportedly drank alcohol, which was abhorred by conservatives. The confusing dualism produced in Ottoman society by the reforms of the nineteenth century had its first imprint on Mustafa when his parents entered into a heated argument about his education. There is little doubt that Mustafa Kemal's deep-seated predilection for new institutions and practices owed much to his years as one of a handful of students in the empire who had their primary education at a private elementary school devoid of a strong religious focus.

Investigation into the reactivity of 16-electron complexes Cp#Co(S2C2B10H10) (Cp# = Cp, Cp*) towards methyl diazoacetate and toluenesulphonyl azide

Wei Zhong, Mingshi Xie, Yizhi Li et al.

A three-component reaction of the 16-electron half-sandwich complex Cp*Co(S2C2B10H10) (2) with both methyl diazoacetate (MDA) and toluenesulphonyl azide (TsN3) led to the formation of complexes 3 and 4, while a two-component reaction of complex 2 with MDA afforded products 5–7.
