Entropy, entanglement and swampland bounds in DS/dS

Abstract We calculate the entanglement entropy of the de-Sitter (dS) static patch in the context of the DS/dS correspondence. Interestingly, we find that there exists a one parameter family of bulk minimal surfaces that all have the same area. Two of them have appeared earlier in the literature. All of them correctly calculate the dS entropy. One surface yields the entanglement between the two different CFTs that provide the holographic dual of the bulk DS geometry. The second surface describes the entanglement across the horizon in the boundary static patch. The other surfaces describe a mixture of these two concepts. We also show that in the presence of extra matter fields the former entanglement entropy always exceeds the dS entropy. We interpret this result in the context of entropy bounds in de Sitter space and the swampland program.

Variability in HOMA‐IR, Lipoprotein Profile and Selected Hormones in Young Active Men

Resistance to insulin actions is contributing to many metabolic disturbances. Such factors as age, sex, nutrition, body fat, and physical activity determine body insulin resistance. Present study attempted to asses insulin resistance and its metabolic effects with respect to energy intake in young, lean, and active men. A total of 87 men aged 18–23 participated in the study. Plasma levels of glucose, insulin, lipoproteins, cortisol, and TSH were determined. Insulin resistance was expressed as Homeostasis Model Assessment for Insulin Resistance (HOMA‐IR) and calculated using homeostatic model. The median value of HOMA‐IR (1.344) was used to divide subjects into two groups. Men did not differ in anthropometric parameters, daily physical activity, and plasma TSH and cortisol levels. However, in men with higher HOMA‐IR significantly lower daily energy intake was observed concomitantly with higher TG, TC, and HDL‐C concentrations in plasma versus their counterparts with lower HOMA‐IR. Exclusively in subjects with higher HOMA‐IR significant and positive correlation was noted between HOMA‐IR and TC and LDL‐C. We concluded that despite a normal body weight and physical activity, a subset of young men displayed unfavorable changes in insulin sensitivity and lipid profile, probably due to insufficient energy intake.

The three dot system is an action by homeomorphisms of $\mathbb Z^2$ on a compact space, which invariant measures are supposed to satisfy rigidity properties analoguous to the ones of invariant measures of angle doubling and tripling on the circle. For such measures, we establish a dichotomy which is related to percolation properties.

Holder stability of diffeomorphisms

We prove that a $C^2$ diffeomorphism $f$ of a compact manifold $M$ satisfies Axiom A and the strong transversality condition if and only if it is Hölder stable, that is, any $C^1$ diffeomorphism $g$ of $M$ sufficiently $C^1$ close to $f$ is conjugate to $f$ by a homeomorphism which is Hölder on the whole manifold.
