Contextualising Church music with traditional Karungut music in Central Kalimantan
Agus Budi Handoko, Sunarto Sunarto, Suharto Suharto
et al.
Church music commonly used in worship services in Indonesia tends to follow musical traditions originating from outside the local culture, particularly Western traditions. As part of society, churches have generally not made significant contributions towards contextualisation through the use of traditional music. This study employs qualitative data using a cultural and church music approach. The Gereja Kalimantan Evangelis (GKE) [Evangelical Church of Kalimantan] was chosen as the research site because it is one of the dominant Protestant churches in Central Kalimantan and has actively contributed to contextualising church music through the integration of karungut, a traditional form of orally transmitted music that functions as a cultural identity marker for the Dayak Ngaju people. Karungut rohani refers to karungut compositions specifically adapted for use in worship, intended to support and strengthen the faith of congregants. Its transformation into church music requires intentional lyric composition aligned with Christian theology, a serious performance attitude, and motivations focused on glorifying God rather than self. The process of contextualising karungut rohani in worship involves three primary groups: church leaders or pastors as policy-makers, karungut rohani artists as cultural agents and the congregation as listeners and participants.
Contribution: The novelty of this study lies in the discovery of the concept, application and form of karungut rohani as church music. The contribution of this research is to serve as a reference for the contextualisation of church music and to encourage church communities to integrate traditional music with church music in worship services, so that the congregation can experience worship more deeply and meaningfully within their own cultural context. The contextualisation of worship through karungut rohani is expected to serve as a new concept or model for the development of church music and liturgy using traditional musical forms.

Reading Luke from the margins: ‘Dialectica Reconciliae’ and anti-imperial optics compared
Kenosi Patson Motuku
This article presents a comparative theological analysis of two South African readings of the Gospel of Luke, each shaped by distinct socio-political contexts. Welile Mazamisa’s, ‘Beatific Comradeship’, developed during apartheid, proposes a ‘Dialectica Reconciliae’ rooted in Gadamerian hermeneutics and the Parable of the Good Samaritan to foster relational reconciliation. In contrast, Motuku’s ‘imperial-critical’ reading of the Zacchaeus narrative (Luke 19:1–10), interrogates post-apartheid economic injustice and land dispossession. While differing in methodology, both approaches converge in their commitment to a socially engaged Lukan ethic. The article argues that genuine reconciliation in South Africa must integrate relational and material dimensions, challenging spiritualised readings that ignore systemic inequality. By reading Luke ‘from the margins’, the article repositions the Gospel as a living text that speaks to the ethical imperatives of justice, restitution and solidarity.
Contribution: The synthesis of these two readings contributes to a broader Lukan hermeneutic that is both contextually grounded and theologically transformative, offering a compelling vision for faith-based engagement with structural injustice from the margins.

Tracking and classifying objects with DAS data along railway
Simon L. B. Fredriksen, The Tien Mai, Kevin Growe
et al.
Distributed acoustic sensing through fiber-optical cables can contribute to traffic monitoring systems. Using data from a day of field testing on a 50 km long fiber-optic cable along a railroad track in Norway, we detect and track cars and trains along a segment of the fiber-optic cable where the road runs parallel to the railroad tracks. We develop a method for automatic detection of events and then use these in a Kalman filter variant known as joint probabilistic data association for object tracking and classification. Model parameters are specified using in-situ log data along with the fiber-optic signals. Running the algorithm over an entire day, we highlight results of counting cars and trains over time and their estimated velocities.

Seals of Bishop Henryk of Wierzbna (1301–1319)
Norbert Jerzak
Did Bishop Henryk of Wierzbna use his seals only for legal and political purposes? Establishing this is the purpose of the article. For this purpose, the extant seals were analysed for the sealed image and legend. When analysing Bishop Henryk’s seals, we notice that they have the features of a prince’s seal; the round shape was characteristic of secular power. The Bishop’s seal was greatly influenced by Arnold of Zwrócona. The bishop used the seal for three purposes: to confirm the authenticity of the issued documents (a legal purpose), to emphasize the divine origin of the received power and to emphasize the old power of the Wrocław bishops.

First-principles calculation study on the stabilities of the (100) and (111) surfaces of boron-doped diamond
Le The Anh, Shota Iizuka, Yasuaki Einaga
et al.
Boron-doped diamond (BDD) has attracted much attentions in semi-/super-conductor physics and electrochemistry, where the surface structures play crucial roles. Herein, we systematically re-examined the probable surface reconstructions of the bare and H-terminated BDD(100) and (111) surfaces by using density functional theory (DFT). For the optimized structures, we performed STM image simulations based on Tersoff-Hamman scheme and calculations of the projected density of states. We found that: on the BDD(100), the p(2x1) reconstruction has lowest energy and the c(2x2) reconstruction has 0.1673 eV/surface-atom energy higher; On the BDD(111), the ideal (1x1) has lowest energy, the single chain SC-(2x1) and Pandey chain PC-(2x1) have 0.3415 eV/surface-atom and 0.6576 eV/surface-atom higher energy, respectively. The BDD(111) appears to have more reconstructions than the BDD(100) which supports to the idea that the BDD(111) is more electrochemically reactive than the BDD(100). In addition, we study the impact of the Boron dopant on the surface states of the BDD(111) and suggest the Boron-enhanced graphitization on the BDD(111). The results give an insight into the surface stability of the BDD.

From the earth of Africa: Q research in South Africa
Llewellyn Howes
As the title indicates, this article traces the history of Q research in South Africa. It focuses on South African scholars who have made worthwhile contributions to our understanding and knowledge of the Sayings Gospel Q. An attempt is ultimately made to detect some trends in this regard. One significant finding perhaps worth mentioning in the abstract is the undeniable influence of Andries G. van Aarde on Q scholarship in South Africa.

Composite local low-rank structure in learning drug sensitivity
The Tien Mai, Leiv Rønneberg, Zhi Zhao
et al.
The molecular characterization of tumor samples by multiple omics data sets of different types or modalities (e.g. gene expression, mutation, CpG methylation) has become an invaluable source of information for assessing the expected performance of individual drugs and their combinations. Merging the relevant information from the omics data modalities provides the statistical basis for determining suitable therapies for specific cancer patients. Different data modalities may each have their specific structures that need to be taken into account during inference. In this paper, we assume that each omics data modality has a low-rank structure with only few relevant features that affect the prediction and we propose to use a composite local nuclear norm penalization for learning drug sensitivity. Numerical results show that the composite low-rank structure can improve the prediction performance compared to using a global low-rank approach or elastic net regression.
Maximal function characterizations for Hardy spaces on spaces of homogeneous type with finite measure and applications
The Anh Bui, Xuan Thinh Duong, Fu Ken Ly
We prove nontangential and radial maximal function characterizations for Hardy spaces associated to a non-negative self-adjoint operator satisfying Gaussian estimates on a space of homogeneous type with finite measure. This not only addresses an open point in the literature, but also gives a complete answer to the question posed by Coifman and Weiss in the case of finite measure. We then apply our results to give maximal function characterizations for Hardy spaces associated to second order elliptic operators with Neumann and Dirichlet boundary conditions, Schrödinger operators with Dirichlet boundary conditions, and Fourier--Bessel operators.
Die Sonderstellung der Leviten in Num 1‒2
Mathias Winkler
In Numbers 1–2 there are some interesting anomalies which highlight the Levites and set the focus on them. They are separated in various ways (local, functional) from the Israelite tribes so there is no connection to them. The order of the camp of the Israelite tribes and their order on the march are results of the last words and deeds of Jacob in Genesis 48–49. This connection to Genesis 48–49 also explains the separation and special treatment of the Levites in Numbers 1–2.

Congreso Internacional: “Adapting, Translating, Transforming”.
We would welcome contributions that focus on the following issues:
* the role of the translator and whether it differs from that of an
adapter
* the metaphorical meanings of both terms: translation as
transformation or transfer, adaptation as psychological adjustment to a
particular context.
* translation and adaptation as politically loaded terms
* the semiotic systems underlying translation and adaptation
* 'openness' versus 'restriction' - do translations differ from
adaptations in the way they approach either the source or the target text?
* social constructions: the translator as mediator between two
languages and two cultures; the adapter as mediator between media and
cultures;
* the role of the imagination and/or the emotions in the act of
translation or adaptation
* the role of the academy and/or recent scholarship in shaping
attitudes towards both disciplines

Fixed points in compactifications and combinatorial counterparts
Lionel Nguyen Van Thé
The Kechris-Pestov-Todorcevic correspondence connects extreme amenability of non-Archimedean Polish groups with Ramsey properties of classes of finite structures. The purpose of the present paper is to recast it as one of the instances of a more general construction, allowing to show that Ramsey-type statements actually appear as natural combinatorial expressions of the existence of fixed points in certain compactifications of groups, and that similar correspondences in fact exist in various dynamical contexts.
Glasner's problem for Polish groups with metrizable universal minimal flow
Lionel Nguyen Van Thé
A problem of Glasner, now known as Glasner's problem, asks whether every minimally almost periodic, monothetic, Polish groups is extremely amenable. The purpose of this short note is to observe that a positive answer is obtained under the additional assumption that the universal minimal flow is metrizable.
Combined Analysis of Cosmic-Ray Anisotropy with IceCube and HAWC
The HAWC Collaboration, The IceCube Collaboration
During the past two decades, experiments in both the northern and southern hemispheres have observed a small but measurable energy-dependent sidereal anisotropy in the arrival direction distribution of Galactic cosmic rays with relative intensities at the level of one per mille. Individually, these measurements are restricted by limited sky coverage, and so the power spectrum of the anisotropy obtained from any one measurement displays a systematic correlation between different multipole modes $C_\ell$. We present the results of a joint analysis of the anisotropy on all angular scales using cosmic-ray data collected during 336 days of operation of the High-Altitude Water Cherenkov (HAWC) Observatory (located at 19$^\circ$ N) and 5 years of data taking from the IceCube Neutrino Observatory (located at 90$^\circ$ S) The results include a combined sky map and an all-sky power spectrum in the overlapping energy range of the two experiments at around 10 TeV. We describe the methods used to combine the IceCube and HAWC data, address the individual detector systematics, and study the region of overlapping field of view between the two observatories.
