Slow-Oscillation Neurofeedback: A Narrative Review on Clinical Efficacy in Pediatric Settings

Lea Glaubig, Yasmine Azza, Sabrina Beber et al.

Slow-oscillation neurofeedback (NF), encompassing slow cortical potential (SCP), infra-low-frequency (ILF), and infra-slow-fluctuation (ISF) protocols, has gained increasing interest as a non-pharmacological intervention in pediatric mental health and neurodevelopmental care. This narrative review synthesizes peer-reviewed literature on the clinical efficacy of slow-oscillation NF in children and adolescents across various conditions, including attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorder (ASD), epilepsy, tic disorders, and eating-related concerns. SCP NF is the most extensively studied protocol and shows preliminary efficacy in reducing ADHD symptoms, particularly among individuals capable of learning self-regulation. For ASD and other conditions, early evidence from primarily small-scale or uncontrolled studies suggests possible benefits in emotional regulation, impulsivity, and behavioral symptoms, though findings remain mixed and often non-specific. Methodological heterogeneity, including variation in control conditions, training protocols, and outcome measures, limits the comparability of results. ILF and ISF protocols, while promising, are still emerging and require further validation. Overall, slow-oscillation NF appears to offer potential as a personalized therapeutic option for pediatric populations, but robust, well-controlled trials are needed to clarify its clinical utility and optimize its integration into multimodal care.

Vulnerable Narcissism Modulates Early Neural Processing of Verbal Violence in Women: An ERP Study

Qianglong Wang, Ping Song, Yongxiang Hu et al.

This study examined how narcissistic traits influence women’s cognitive processing of verbal violence. Using a lexical decision task, an emotional Stroop task, and event-related potentials, we analyzed neural responses to violent versus neutral words in 70 women. Behaviorally, while narcissism showed no significant impact on performance in the Lexical Decision Task, a specific interference effect emerged in the emotional Stroop task, where higher narcissistic vulnerability predicted reduced accuracy for violent words relative to neutral ones. Notably, ERP results revealed a consistent pattern across both tasks: higher PNI total scores significantly predicted reduced amplitudes of early components, specifically the N170 and P2. Furthermore, in the emotional Stroop task, the vulnerability dimension emerged as a significant predictor of reduced EPN and P2 amplitudes. These findings suggest that when exposed to verbal violence, narcissistic women exhibit attenuated early evaluation and attentional allocation. This reflects a preemptive cognitive avoidance strategy used to protect the self-concept, driven primarily by a general narcissistic defensive pattern that manifests most acutely in vulnerable traits under high-interference conditions.

The Popular Culture and General Elections in Republic of Indonesia

Siti Hajar

Political marketing for power often uses popular culture to achieve it. Popular culture, which prioritises packaging over substance, is becoming increasingly thinner and thinner, especially when other passengers are infiltrated into its fragile body. The purpose of this paper is to analyse the practice of popular culture in politics whose ultimate goal is the attainment of power. The fragility opens up wide opportunities for the accommodation of other interests, which are always present in public life.  Popular culture itself is already poor in substance, will become even more banal with relations with other fields. So the relationship between popular culture and politics falls into the "ideology" of inevitability. A multifaceted reading of politics and popular culture allows for other findings, but in this study we see that humans instinctively have the desire for power, he is anxious if it is not achieved. Sublimation is done so that anxiety can still be done, so that the desire for power is released. Popular culture provides space for that.

Integration between Islamic Revelation and Local Culture: A Study of Theology and the Indigenisation of Islam in Indonesia

Moh. Ashif Fuadi, Moh. Mahbub, Nor Huda Ali et al.

This research explains the Islamic revelation in the context of the synergy between fiqh and tradition. Using qualitative methods, this research concludes that: first, the pribumization of Islam is the result of the thought of K.H. Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur) by seeking harmonization between fiqh and tradition. Gus Dur referred to the compromising process of Islamization by the Walisongo in spreading Islam in Nusantara as a very effective instrument or medium in the spreading of Islam. Secondly, in the Islamic Pribumization discourse, Gus Dur used the fiqh methodology of al-'ādah muhakkamah and al-'tsābit bi al-'urf ka al-tsābit bi al-nash, which were seen as capable of paying attention to the needs present in the local culture. For example, the greeting assalamu’alaikum is interpreted in the good morning greeting only in the relationship of mu’amalah, not up to the level of worship, in the custom of marriage by carrying out the conditions of harmony, but still given space in expressing their respective cultures while not contrary to religion. Third, based on its historical flow, religious values within culture in the Pribumization of Islam substantially shifted towards the discourse of Islam Nusantara and are now transformed into one of the indicators of religious moderation, namely accommodating a local culture so that it has a relevant relationship therein.

Rivera, V. S. (2021). Pensar desde el Mal. Hermenéutica en tiempos de Apocalipsis. Fondo Editorial del Congreso del Perú

Marco Antonio Ricse Caballero

Spouses' Alexithymia is one of the factors affecting couples' incompatibility and interaction, which has a negative effect on their interaction and compatibility. However, there is a research gap in the field of the ability to predict Alexithymia through the ability to process emotional information with the mediation of emotional self-disclosure in the target society, so in this research, the prediction of Alexithymia based on emotional processing with the mediation of emotional self-disclosure in married people is discussed. Aims: The aim of the present study was to provide a structural model for predicting Alexithymia based on emotional processing with the mediation of emotional self-disclosure. Methods: The method of descriptive research is correlation type using structural equations. The research population was all married women who referred to counseling and assistance clinics in Robat Karim city for consensual divorce in the year2019, and 200 people were selected by available sampling method. In order to collect data, Toronto Persian scale of emotional Alexithymia (Bashart, 2007), Emotional information processing questionnaire(Abolmaali,2019) and emotional self-disclosure scale (Snell, 2001) were used. In order to analyze the data, descriptive statistical methods and Also, structural equations and Spss, Lisrel software were used.. Results: The results showed that emotional self-disclosure plays a mediating role in the relationship between Alexithymia and emotional processing (p>0.05) and there is an indirect relationship between Alexithymia and emotional processing considering emotional self-disclosure as a mediating factor. Conclusion: The results of this research showed that there is a direct and meaningful relationship between emotional information processing and Alexithymia, so that among the variables of emotional processing, the variable of weakened and suppressed emotions predicts Alexithymia and in general, Alexithymia in couples can be predicted based on the mentioned variables. Therefore, these factors should be considered in prevention and treatment programs.

Conformity of Islamic Banks with AAOIFI Standards for General Presentation and Disclosure in Turkey and Bahrain

Yusuf Avşar, Ozan Özdemir

Islamic (participation) banks in Turkey are required to apply international accounting standards in their accounting and reporting practices, while their counterparts in Bahrain apply the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) standards. The main objective of this paper is to reveal the relation between Islamic and international accounting standards, discussed in previous studies, by comparing the compliance to AAOIFI accounting standards by Islamic banks in both Turkey and Bahrain. The source of information in this study is secondary data provided in the annual reports of the Islamic banks in Turkey and Bahrain for the year 2017. In order to measure compliance, an unweighted disclosure index was used. The outcomes of this study show that, since AAOIFI accounting standards are compulsory in Bahrain, the level of compliance with AAOIFI standards in relation to general presentation and disclosure in the financial statements of Islamic banks in Turkey is lower than the compliance achieved by their counterparts in Bahrain. Due to the average compliance level achieved by Islamic banks (using the unweighted disclosure index) in Turkey (54.6%), and since all banks in Turkey apply international financial reporting standards and international accounting standards, it is found that there is a relation between AAOIFI and International Accounting Standards Board standards even though they are different. Surprisingly, in the case of Bahrain’s Islamic banks, the standard deviation of the total compliance score is 8.66, which indicates an important difference among the Islamic banks in Bahrain in this regard. It is also found that the current practices of participation banks in Turkey do not adequately meet the financial statements and disclosure standards in accordance with the AAOIFI.

«Io giungo all’essere e a me stesso». le prime opere di francesco Lo Savio, 1957-1959

Angelo Di Modica

The main aim of the article is to explain the beginning of the Roman painter Francesco Lo Savio’s career from 1957 to 1959. This part of his production has long been unknown because it was considered too distant from the mature works. During those years Lo Savio is still tied to his training in Informal Art. Moreover, the work of this period also show influences coming from American art, in particular, from the pictorial research of Mark Rothko. This essay illustrates why these works should be considered an important step, although germinal, in Lo Savio’s painting career. Just by analyzing the origins of his painting, it is possible to understand the next steps of his work. The works at the end of 1958 and early 1959 are, in fact, the start of his artistic path that will result in Space-Light paintings a few months later.

ECOAMBIGUITY AND TOURISM DEVELOPMENT IN CONTEMPORARY VIETNAM – CASE STUDY OF AN ETHNIC KHMER VILLAGE IN SOUTHERN VIETNAM

Diep Le-Thi-Ngoc, Ngoc Tho Nguyen

Many development projects in Vietnam today, including tourism, are partially focused on ecology. However, the mentality of cultivating for later gains is still popular. In addition to the goal of creating opportunities to benefit local communities, this development discourse conveys a sense of ‘ecoambiguity’. This study mainly applies the concept of "ecoambiguity" of Thornber (2012) to discuss the current situation and impact of tourism activities in the Khmer community around Bà Om Pond in Trà Vinh, Vietnam. Unlike previous works that discussed the beauty and value of Khmer religion, temples, rural life, festivals, and art, this research argues that people-centered policies have never enabled people to achieve their goals.
