This purpose of this study is to analyze the perceptions and needs of students at University C regarding ‘liberal arts education’ and to draw implications for the reorganization and operation of the liberal arts curriculum. To this end, a survey was conducted on the perceptions and needs of the monitoring group of University C, and in-depth interviews and data analysis were conducted. A total of 91 students participated in the survey, responding to their perceptions of liberal arts education in general and their needs, and the researchers reviewed and analyzed 40 final reports submitted by the liberal arts education monitoring group. Five students, three from the humanities/social sciences and two from the natural sciences/ engineering, who were excellent members of the Liberal Arts Monitoring Group, were interviewed in-depth, focusing on information that could not be found in the survey and final reports nor could be confirmed through interviews. The analysis revealed the following perceptions and needs for liberal arts education.
First, students at College C perceived that liberal arts education was necessary overall, but tended to perceive it as less important than education involving their majors. Second, students perceived that the liberal arts curriculum at College C was below average in reflecting their needs. Third, while the survey showed a strong preference for lecture-style classes, the data analysis and in-depth interviews showed that the curriculum should be improved with more interactive teaching and learning methods. Fourth, students at University C felt burdened and fatigued by the relative evaluation method centered on memorization and written evaluation, and demanded a change to an evaluation system that focuses more on the meaning of learning.
Based on these findings, the university's dedicated organization for liberal arts education needs to make efforts to change the students' perceptions of the importance and value of liberal arts education and key information for academic guidance. In addition, efforts should be made to reflect student needs in the reorganization and operation of the liberal arts curriculum by establishing and operating student organizations such as student liberal arts curriculum committees and student liberal arts education monitoring groups, or even through competitions. In addition, the dedicated organization for liberal arts education should support liberal arts instructors and share teaching and learning methods that are more in line with liberal arts education through regular seminars for dedicated faculty members. Finally, it is necessary for educators to improve the evaluation system that focuses on students' learning activities in the student evaluation process, and to increase the satisfaction level of liberal arts courses through ‘clarity of evaluation criteria’ and ‘instructor feedback on grades’, and to improve instructors' awareness of student evaluations and to foster their evaluation expertise.
The purpose of this study is to confirm the possibility of using ChatGPT in college liberal arts writing education and to derive implications for the education field. To this end, cases of writing classes using ChatGPT were analyzed and the survey on learners' perceptions was conducted. In the liberal arts course of A university in Korea, an essay writing activity using ChatGPT was performed after subject-specific reading. A total of 62 learners decided on the guidelines related to the use of ChatGPT through discussion before writing the essay. From an analysis of the results after writing, text citation, prompt input, source verification, and revision were found, and educational implications were derived. In the subsequent survey, more than half of the learners positively recognized ChatGPT as a tool for saving writing time and improving process efficiency. It was also revealed that ChatGPT was most frequently used for idea generation and information gathering. However, learners pointed out problems concerning the quality, source, and credibility of the information. Therefore, education on the reinforcement ability to compare, contrast, judge, and synthesize information from various sources should be strengthened. In addition, clear and specific writing ethics standards and guidelines for the use of ChatGPT must be provided. This study has value as an empirical study using ChatGPT in college liberal arts writing activities.
Abstract To justify investigations on learning and memory (L&M) function in extended one-generation reproductive toxicity studies (EOGRTS; Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) test guideline (TG) 443) for registration under Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemical (REACH), the European Chemicals Agency has referred to three publications based on which the Agency concluded that “perturbation of thyroid hormone signaling in offspring affects spatial cognitive abilities (learning and memory)” and “Therefore, it is necessary to conduct spatial learning and memory tests for F1 animals”. In this paper, the inclusion of the requested L&M tests in an EOGRTS is challenged. In addition, next to the question on the validity of rodent models in general for testing thyroid hormone-dependent perturbations in brain development, the reliability of the publications specifically relied upon by the agency is questioned as these contain numerous fundamental errors in study methodology, design, and data reporting, provide contradicting results, lack crucial information to validate the results and exclude confounding factors, and finally show no causal relationship. Therefore, in our opinion, these publications cannot be used to substantiate, support, or conclude that decreases in blood thyroid (T4) hormone level on their own would result in impaired L&M in rats and are thus not adequate to use as fundament to ask for L&M testing as part of an EOGRTS.
Straipsnyje analizuojamas iki šiol netyrinėtas paveikslų ciklas Šv. Augustino gyvenimas. Jis atributuojamas, iškeliama hipotezė apie užsakovą. Kaip atskleidė tyrimas, šį ciklą kitados sudarė dešimt paveikslų, iš kurių keturi 2000 m. pateko į Kauno arkivyskupijos muziejų, vienas atrastas privačioje kolekcijoje, keturių buvimo vieta nežinoma, vienas dingęs negrįžtamai. Atvaizdus papildančios inskripcijos leido identifikuoti paveikslų ciklo grafinius pirmavaizdžius, vaizduojamas scenas, jų rašytinius šaltinius, nuosekliai išnagrinėti ikonografiją. Kadangi XX a. pirmoje pusėje šis paveikslų ciklas puošė Žemaičių kunigų seminarijos Didžiąją aulą Kaune, straipsnyje pirmą kartą identifikuojama šios 1895–1957 m. egzistavusios reprezentacinės patalpos tiksli buvimo vieta ir kaita, kartu su paveikslų ciklu užfiksuota archyvinėse nuotraukose.

AbstractThe nexus among social media usage and the English language writing performances of a Ghanaian English as Second Language (ESL) class was investigated in this enquiry. The simple qualitative case study design was used, and the data was collected from a co-educational government secondary school Form 2 General Arts One class in Ghana. A focus group discussion (FGD) guide was employed to elicit the data, and the data were synthesised and analysed using the Data Analysis Spiral. It was evidenced that social media has adversely impacted the students’ English Language learning, as oblivious and non-standard contents have been smuggled into the students’ academic writings and have negatively affected their performances. We recommend that teachers and parents regulate students’ access to social media to restrict them to confined times to prevent them from wasting time on unproductive and non-academic-related activities. Also, stakeholders in education should consider integrating pedagogical practices that leverage social media to engage students.
The research aims to address and talk about the Mahziar family, which is one of the most important Shiite families loyal to the imams of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) that appeared during the era of Imam Reza (peace be upon him) and whose efforts in all its fields came as a result of its good relationship with the imams of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon him), that relationship Which the historical sources referred to by mentioning and strengthening it with many narrations that embody the aspects of their relationship with the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), which contributed to employing them to serve them and the Islamic community.

The short but intense polemic that took place following Giulio Carlo Argan’s review of Albert Erich Brinckmann’s Theatrum novum Pedemontii in 1931 inaugurated international twentieth century scholarly reception of Piedmontese Baroque architecture. Today, it provides a captivating snapshot of the turbulent and complex disciplinary feuds that prevailed in architectural historiography during the interwar period, often pushing contenders into deep water when attempting to clarify their views. The twenty-three-year-old Argan – later to become one of Italy’s most celebrated academics – had just graduated from the University of Turin when he gave a bravely disapproving review of the latest book by one of Germany’s most prominent architectural historians at the time.

Vessel rattles were one of the first sound-producing tools made from clay. Throughout history, they were developed in many ancient cultures, convergently in many places around the world. To obtain a complete picture of the sounds produced by clay rattles, the short-time Fourier transform analysis is used. On top of that, to determine the full spectrum of their acoustical possibilities, numerical reconstruction of sound is done. The results provide us an opportunity to explore the soundscape of the past.

Our aesthetic experiences are today conditioned by machines, which operate at multiple levels: at the moment of conception of a work, at the moment of conservation and distribution of the work, and at the moment of its contemplation. For art today, it is no longer a theoretical question of asking whether the machine can act with freedom in the sense of a game that remains as of yet open-ended—or if humans themselves can still so act in a world entirely conditioned by technology—because the brute fact is that machines are becoming ever more autonomous, and humans ever more dependent upon them. For some artists, therefore, the ideas of autonomy and sacralization are best addressed, not in the posing of serious questions, but rather through the subversive activity of enticing the machine to reveal its comic nature—and wherein we discover, with Bergson, the essentially rigid and mechanical nature of the humorous.

This article describes two digital assignments that ask students to imaginatively embody characters from eighteenth-century texts written by women in order to cultivate a greater awareness of the critical role of gender and gender critique in these works. The first of these assignments, “Arabella’s Valentines,” asks students to translate dialogue from Charlotte Lennox’s The Female Quixote as humorous Internet memes. The second assignment, “Literary Connections [dot] com,” asks students to imagine how characters from the course archive might represent themselves on an internet dating site. Through creative role-play facilitated by these digital genres, students engage with the texts in stimulating and playful ways that extends their consideration of writers’ works beyond the page. In the article I explain how these activities were deployed using PowerPoint and Tumblr, and for the second assignment, Google Forms, with step-by-step instructions for replicating the technological aspects of the assignments, and add reflections on the outcome of these assignments for student learning.
