One Parameter Polynomial Exponential Distribution with Binomial Mixture

Molay Kumar Ruidas, Indrani Mukherjee, Mriganka Mouli Choudhury et al.

A further generalized version of one parameter polynomial exponential distribution with binomial probability mass as a mixture called a Binomial Mixture One Parameter Polynomial Exponential Distribution (BMOPPE) is proposed in the article. The moments and stochastic orderings are studied. Maximum likelihood estimator (MLE) and uniformly minimum variance unbiased estimator (UMVUE) of the probability density function and the cumulative distribution function have been derived and compared in the mean squared error sense. Estimation issues (both MLE and UMVUE) of reliability functions- mission time and stress-strength have been considered, and asymptotic variances of MLEs and variances of UMVUEs have been derived. UMVUEs of the variance of UMVUE of reliability functions have also been derived. Simulation study results have been reported to validate the theoretical findings. Few data sets have been fitted and compared.

APPLICATION OF RANDOM FOREST ALGORITHM ON WATCH PRICE PREDICTION SYSTEM USING FRAMEWORK FLASK

Dzakiyyatul Kirom Dalimunthe, Raden Bagus Fajriya Hakim

In the modern era like today, watches not only function as timepieces, but have become a fashion trend for the community, especially teenagers. The increasing market demand for watches opens up opportunities for counterfeit watch sellers to sell their products by claiming that the watches they sell are genuine watches by offering relatively cheaper prices compared to genuine watches. This is very detrimental to consumers and also the watch industry. To minimize fraud committed by fake watch sellers, it is necessary to know the price of the original watch in advance, before buying the desired watch. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to predict the price of watches using the Random Forest method and will be developed into a web system using the Framework Flask. The results of the study using 3337 trees obtained an accuracy rate of 84,98% with a MAPE of 15,02%. The most influential variable on the price of watches is the material variable with the level of importance obtained at 0,359. After getting the best model, the model is then developed into a web system using the help of the Framework Flask and Heroku which can later be accessed online.

Isolate g-eccentric domination in fuzzy graph

S. Muthupandiyan, A Mohamed Ismayil

In a fuzzy graph G(ρ, μ), a dominating set D ⊆ P(G) is said to be g-eccentric if at least one g-eccentric vertex a of every vertex b in P − D exists in D. If the induced fuzzy sub graph < D > has at least one isolated vertex, then a g-eccentric dominating set D of G is said to be an isolate g-eccentric dominating set. The isolate g-eccentric domination number is defined as the smallest cardinality over all isolate g-eccentric dominating sets of G. This article introduces the isolate g-eccentric point set, isolate g-eccentric dominating set, and their numbers in fuzzy graphs. In some standard fuzzy graphs, bounds are found for an isolate g-eccentric domination number.

Factors associated with the incidence of coronary heart disease in the MASHAD cohort study: A six years follow up

majid Ghayour-Mobarhan, Fatemeh Sadabadi, Mohsen Moohebati et al.

Background Coronary heart disease (CHD) is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality globally, and specifically in Iran. Accurate assessments of Coronary heart disease (CHD) incidence is very necessary for public health. In current study we aimed to investigate the incidence of CHD and importance of several classical, modifiable and un-modifiable risk factors for CHD among an urban population in eastern Iran after 6 years of follow-up. Methods The population of MASHAD cohort study were followed up for 6 years, every 3 years in two step by phone and who reported symptoms of CVD were asked to attend for a cardiac examination, to estimate the incidence of CHD with 95% confidence interval (95% CI) as well multiple logistic regression analysis was performed to assess the association of several baseline characteristics with incidence of CHD event. Evaluation of goodness-of-fit was done using ROC analysis. CHD cases divided into four different classes which include: stable angina, unstable angina pectoris, myocardial infarction and sudden cardiac death. Results In the six years' follow-up of Mashhad study, the incidence rate of all CHD event in men and women in 100,000 people-years with 95% confidence intervals were 1920 (810-3030) and 1160 (730-1590), respectively. The areas under ROC curve (AUC), based on multivariate predictors of CHD outcome, was 0.7825. Conclusion Our findings indicated that the incidence rate of coronary heart diseases in MASHAD cohort study increases with age as well as our final model designed, was able to predict approximately 78% of CHD events in Iranian population.

On the convergence of difference schemes of high accuracy for the equation of ion-acoustic waves in a magnetized plasma

M.M. Aripov, D. Utebaev, Zh.A. Nurullaev

Multiparametric difference schemes of the finite element method of a high order of accuracy for the Sobolevtype equation of the fourth-order in time are studied. In particular, the first boundary value problem for the equation of ion-acoustic waves in a magnetized plasma is considered. A high-order accuracy of the scheme is achieved due to the special discretization of time and space variables. The presence of parameters in the scheme makes it possible to regularize the accuracy of the schemes and optimize the implementation algorithm. An a priori estimate in a weak norm is obtained by the method of energy inequality. Based on this estimate and the Bramble-Hilbert lemma, the convergence of the constructed algorithms in classes of generalized solutions is proved. An algorithm for implementing the difference scheme is proposed.

Some New Solutions of Non Linear Evolution Equations With Mutable Coefficients

Jasvinder Singh Virdi

We construct the traveling wave solutions of some NonLinear Evolution Equations (NLEEs) with mutable coefficients arising in different branches of physics and mathematics. we apply a novel (G′G)-formalism to construct more general solitary traveling wave solutions of NLEEs such as Sharma-Tasso-Olver with mutable coefficients and Zakharov Kuznetsov equation. Interesting solutions of NLEEs are investigated by traveling wave solutions which are in form of trigonometric, rational, and hyperbolic functions. This may build more unified new solutions for different kinds of such NLEEs with mutable coefficients arising in mathematics and physics. Wolfram Mathematica 11 is used to perform the computation work and their corresponding plots and counter graphs are plotted. This method is found to be more useful and efficient for searching the exact solutions of NLEEs.

The Relevance of Statistical Knowledge for Teaching to Health Care Professionals: Reflections on a COVID-19 Press Briefing

Randall E. Groth

Statistics is an important component of the knowledge base for health care professionals. In this essay, it is argued that statistical knowledge for teaching (SKT) should be considered an important component of their preparation as well. Health care professionals often must help others understand the statistical basis for recommendations they make. A COVID-19 press briefing is used to illustrate the need for SKT when making high-stakes recommendations related to public health. It is conjectured that efforts to educate the public during the press briefing would have been enhanced if the presenters had deeper knowledge of the general public’s common statistical thinking patterns, the typical statistics curriculum experienced by members of their audience, and contemporary tools for teaching statistics. The importance of such knowledge to support smaller-scale individual interactions is also discussed. A call for SKT-centered partnerships between educational researchers and medical researchers is made; such partnerships could be mutually beneficial to the development of both fields and to society at large.

Formative Vs. Reflective Measurement Model: Guidelines for Structural Equation Modeling Research

Mohd Hafiz Hanafiah

Various social sciences researchers have always debated the operationalisation of formative or a reflective measurement in Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). This paper aims to offer guidance on formative and reflective measurement model assessment in PLS-SEM. First, this paper explores and discuss the similarities and differences between the formative and reflective measurement model. Next, this paper reviews the practice of measurement model assessment for formative and reflective construct based on the latest methodological background. Finally, this paper proposes a set of guidelines in classifying the formative and reflective constructs and the steps in assessing the formative and reflective measurement model. This paper addresses the issue of measurement misspecification in PLS-SEM assessment by providing logical guidelines for researchers. This paper also helps to explain and suggest appropriate PLS-SEM assessment for researchers as they plan future research projects.

A boundary jumps phenomenon in the integral boundary value problem for singularly perturbed differential equations

N.U. Bukanay, A.E. Mirzakulova, M.K. Dauylbayev et al.

The article is devoted to the study of the asymptotic behavior of solving an integral boundary value problem for a third - order linear differential equation with a small parameter for two higher derivatives, provided that the roots of the "additional characteristic equation" have opposite signs. In the work are constructed the fundamental system of solutions, boundary functions for singularly perturbed homogeneous differential equation and are provided their asymptotic representations. An analytical formula of solution for a given singularly perturbed integral boundary value problem is obtained. Theorem about asymptotic estimates of solution is proved. For a singularly perturbed integral boundary value problem, the growth of the solution and its derivatives at the boundary points of this segment is obtained when the small parameter tends to zero. It is established that the solution of a singularly perturbed integral boundary value problem has initial jumps at both ends of this segment...

Birkhoff Normal Forms for Born-Oppenheimer Operators

Nawel Latigui, Bekkai Messirdi, Kaoutar Ghomari

We describe in this paper a significant spectral reduction method for Born-Oppenheimer operators with regular potentials, which leads to an adaptable Birkhoff normal form theorem for the associated effective Hamiltonians. As illustration of the established results, we compute the Birkhoff normal form in Fermi resonance.

Four Fundamental Questions in Probability Theory and Statistics

Paolo Rocchi

This study has the purpose of addressing four questions that lie at the base of the probability theory and statistics, and includes two main steps. As first, we conduct the textual analysis of the most significant works written by eminent probability theorists. The textual analysis turns out to be a rather innovative method of study in this domain, and shows how the sampled writers, no matter he is a frequentist or a subjectivist, share a similar approach. Each author argues on the multifold aspects of probability then he establishes the mathematical theory on the basis of his intellectual conclusions. It may be said that mathematics ranks second. Hilbert foresees an approach far different from that used by the sampled authors. He proposes to axiomatize the probability calculus notably to describe the probability concepts using purely mathematical criteria. In the second stage of the present research we address the four issues of the probability theory and statistics following the recommendations of Hilbert. Specifically, we use two theorems that prove how the frequentist and the subjectivist models are not incompatible as many believe. Probability has distinct meanings under different hypotheses, and in turn classical statistics and Bayesian statistics are available for adoption in different circumstances. Subsequently, these results are commented upon, followed by our conclusions

A Mathematically Sensible Explanation of the Concept of Statistical Population

Yiping Cheng

In statistics education, the concept of population is widely felt hard to grasp, as a result of vague explanations in textbooks. Some textbook authors therefore chose not to mention it. This paper offers a new explanation by proposing a new theoretical framework of population and sampling, which aims to achieve high mathematical sensibleness. In the explanation, the term population is given clear definition, and the relationship between simple random sampling and iid random variables are examined mathematically.
