We look for evidence of habituation in twenty waves of German panel data: do individuals tend to return to some baseline level of well-being after life and labour market events? Although the strongest life satisfaction effect is often at the time of the event, we find significant lag and lead effects. We cannot reject the hypothesis of complete adaptation to marriage, divorce, widowhood, birth of child and layoff. However, there is little evidence of adaptation to unemployment for men. Men are somewhat more affected by labour market events (unemployment and layoffs) than are women but in general the patterns of anticipation and adaptation are remarkably similar by sex.

Background High quality shared decision-making (SDM) conversations involve people with or at risk of osteoporosis and clinicians working together to decide, where appropriate, which evidence-based medicines best fit the person’s life, beliefs, and values. The improving uptake of Fracture Prevention drug treatments (iFraP) intervention comprises a computerised Decision Support Tool (DST), clinician training package and information resources, designed for use in UK Fracture Liaison Service (FLS) consultations. The iFraP intervention will be tested in a pragmatic, parallel-group, individual randomised controlled trial in patients referred to four FLSs in England. This mixed methods process evaluation aims to assess which components of iFraP were delivered and how (fidelity), whether iFraP results in a change in osteoporosis drug treatment initiation rates and how, and how context affects implementation of iFraP and outcomes. Methods We will collect quantitative data using (1) Case Report Forms completed by FLS clinicians; (2) self-reported questionnaires completed by patient participants; and (3) DST analytic data. We will collect qualitative data using (1) semi-structured interviews with patients who receive the iFraP intervention in their FLS appointment, FLS clinicians delivering iFraP appointments, and primary care clinicians that have consulted with a patient following their iFraP FLS appointment; and (2) FLS consultation recordings. A triangulation protocol will be used to integrate the quantitative and qualitative findings to generate novel insights about the intervention under evaluation. Discussion The process evaluation, alongside the trial, will help to understand what elements of the iFraP intervention were delivered and how, the mechanisms of impact and how context affected implementation and outcomes, and intervention acceptability. Mixed methods interpretation will lead to further insights about the implementation of SDM and DSTs in-practice. Trial registration ISRCTN: 10606407, 21/11/2022 https://doi.org/10.1186/ISRCTN10606407

Abstract The research on work-life balance of teachers highlights the significant challenges faced by educators in balancing their professional and personal lives. The study emphasizes the evolving role of teachers, the impact of technology, and the increasing demands placed on them. It also underscores the importance of achieving a healthy work-life balance to reduce stress and improve job satisfaction. This study critically examines research papers and articles related to work-life balance of teachers published between 2014–2024 in the Scopus database. Bibliometric analysis was done with the help of a biblioshiny package of Rstusio and VoS viewer. Out of 554 articles, 112 were located after restricting the search to the English language and publications related to social science, psychology, business, management, and economics for the selected time (2014–2024). The research on the work-life balance of teachers has seen significant growth, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. The findings highlight that the USA in countries, Fokkens-Bruinsma, M. in authors and Frontiers in Psychology in sources have the highest contribution of articles in related field. Key topics include “human,” “teaching,” “work-life balance,” “questionnaire,” and “education. This study provides a comprehensive overview of the research trends, key contributors, and important topics in the field of work-life balance of teachers. Moreover, it also highlights the growing interest in this area and the need for further research to address the challenges faced by educators. The findings suggest that implementing work-life policies and initiatives tailored to the teaching profession can help address these challenges and promote better well-being among teachers. Overall, the study calls for a greater focus on supporting teachers to ensure they can effectively manage their work and personal responsibilities.
