Science mapping of the Revista General de Informacion y Documentacion (2005-2022)

Carmen Galvez

A study of the Revista General de Informacion y Documentacion, from 2005 to 2022. The objective is aimed at qualifying the structure of the research field and assessing the trajectory of the thematic areas covered. Applying as methodology the analysis of co-words, the construction of bibliometric networks and the creation of scientific maps. 514 documents are extracted from the Web of Science (WoS) database. The keywords assigned by the authors of the documents are selected and divided into three subperiods: 2005-2010, 2011-2016 and 2017-2022. In the results, 1701 author keywords and 37 bibliometric networks are obtained. In the period 2005-2010, the structure of the research field is represented on the scientific map with very few central and specialized topics, considering an initial and underdeveloped organization. In the period 2011-2016, the structure of the research field is distributed on the scientific map with a more varied number of central and specialized topics, but still insufficient, considering an organization in the process of development. In the period 2017-2022, the structure of the research field is shown on the map with all kinds of family of topics (central, specialized, transversal, emerging or disappearing), being valued as a dynamic, complex and heterogeneous organization. Regarding the evolution of the thematic areas, the map shows solid progress between the last two periods. The morphology of the thematic field treated in RGID is outlined in three phases: foundation, process of development and consolidation.

Mechanizmy tworzenia postprawdy w mediach – próba klasyfikacji na wybranych przykładach

Kacper Krzeczewski

NEW PLAYMAKER IN SCIENCE EDUCATION: COVID-19

M. Uşak, A. Masalimova, E. I. Cherdymova et al.

Nowadays, we all are sitting in our homes and watching what is going on in the world, as if we are watching a science fiction movie, in which we have the leading role. Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), which first appeared in Wuhan (Abdulamir, & Hafidh, 2020; Ait Addi et al., 2020 Aljofan, & Gaipov, 2020; Sorooshian, 2020) and later turned into a pandemic affecting the entire world, does not discriminate between the degree of democracy, finances, religion, gender, ethnicity and region. World is a fireplace and we all are “burning”. In the countries where the pandemic is progressing rapidly, all health professionals, regardless of their area of expertise, have been called to the field. This reminds us of the need to revive the general perspective that we have begun to forget. That is to say, no matter how specific our area of expertise is, we are obliged to keep the general perspective of our field and basic doctrines constantly fresh.

Von Neumann, Turing a Gödel: o mysli a strojích

A REPRESENTATION OF FEMINISM IN SCIENCE FICTION FILM (SEMIOTIC ANALYSIS RELATED TO FILM LEVEL 16)

Ilham habibi Sormin, Muhammad Dalimunthe , Syahrul Abidin

The development of the film world is very diverse and produces films with various styles. Broadly speaking, films can be grouped by story, making orientation, and by genre. This study aims to determine the representation of feminism contained in the science fiction film entitled Level 16. This study uses a qualitative method with the semiotic analysis technique of Ferdinand De Saussure's model which examines the signs in life. Through this method, several scenes are selected in the level 16 film, then these scenes are revealed into denotative and connotative meanings and then interpreted in signifier and signified. In this study, the researcher found ten scenes that presented feminism in level 16 films.

On the generalized Ramanujan conjecture over function fields

Dan Ciubotaru, Michael Harris

Let $G$ be a simple group over a global function field $K$, and let $π$ be a cuspidal automorphic representation of $G$. Suppose $K$ has two places $u$ and $v$ (satisfying a mild restriction on the residue field cardinality), at which the group $G$ is quasi-split, such that $π_u$ is tempered and $π_v$ is unramified and generic. We prove that $π$ is tempered at all unramified places $K_w$ at which $G$ is unramified quasi-split. The proof uses the Galois parametrization of cuspidal representations due to V. Lafforgue to relate the local Satake parameters of $π$ to Deligne's theory of Frobenius weights. The main observation is that, in view of the classification of generic unitary spherical representations, due to Barbasch and the first-named author, the theory of weights excludes generic complementary series as possible local components of $π$. This in turn determines the local Frobenius weights at all unramified places. In order to apply this observation in practice we need a result of the second-named author with Gan and Sawin on the weights of discrete series representations.

Chudnovsky's Conjecture and the stable Harbourne-Huneke containment for general points

Sankhaneel Bisui, Thái Thành Nguyên

In our previous work with Grifo and Hà, we showed the stable Harbourne-Huneke containment and Chudnovsky's conjecture for the defining ideal of sufficiently many general points in $\mathbb{P}^N$. In this paper, we establish the conjectures for all remaining cases, and hence, give the affirmative answer to Harbourne-Huneke containment and Chudnovsky's conjecture for any number of general points in $\mathbb{P}^N$ for all $N$. Our new technique is to develop the Cremona reduction process that provides effective lower bounds for the Waldschmidt constant of the defining ideals of generic points in projective spaces.

Energetics of the Charge Generation in Organic Donor-Acceptor Interfaces

Artur M. Andermann, Luis G. C. Rego

Non-fullerene acceptor (NFA) materials have posed new paradigms for the design of organic solar cells (OSC), whereby efficient carrier generation is obtained with small driving forces, in order to maximize the open-circuit voltage. In this paper we use a coarse-grained mixed quantum-classical method, that combines Ehrenfest and Redfield theories, to shed light on charge generation process in small energy offset interfaces. We have investigated the influence of the energetic driving force as well as the vibronic effects on the charge generation and photovoltaic energy conversion. By analyzing the effects of the Holstein and Peierls vibrational couplings, we find that vibrational couplings produce an overall effect of improving the charge generation. However, the two vibronic mechanisms play different roles: the Holstein relaxation mechanism decreases the charge generation whereas the Peierls mechanism always assists the charge generation. Moreover, by examining the electron-hole binding energy as a function of time, we evince two distinct regimes for the charge separation: the temperature independent excitonic spread on a sub-100 fs timescale and the complete dissociation of the charge-transfer state that occurs on the timescale of tens to hundreds of picoseconds, depending on the temperature. The quantum dynamics of the system exhibits the three regimes of the Marcus electron transfer kinetics as the energy offset of the interface is varied.

Cosmocracy and Culture in Valerian Muraviev’s Works

Anastasia G. Gacheva

The article deals with the concept of culture as a cosmocracy, which is put forward in the works of Valerian Muraviev, one of the leading representatives of the 1920s cosmism. It presents the evolution of Muraviev’s view on the phenomenon of culture from the early articles to the philosophical mysteries “Sophia and the Centaur” and “The Culture of the Future.” The connection of Muraviev’s constructions with the projective philosophy of Nikolay Fedorov, the ancestor of cosmism, with the idea of the antientropical essence of culture, which is characteristic of the representatives of cosmism, is shown.

A Critique of Preindustrial Communities, or An Anatomy of Pre-Modern World

Abbas Khalaji

This article is an analytical-critical review of “Preindustrial Communities, or An Anatomy of Pre-Modern World” by Patricia Crone. This study is mainly concerned with the theoretical aspect and the content of the book. Hence, the scientific method, theoretical approach, and historical data, and the content analysis of the book are evaluated, and its strengths, and shortcomings are identified. Accordingly, the critical phase of this study is presented in three sections relating to form, methodology, and content. The strong points of the book relate to the fact that the author retains powerful imagination, precise visualization, interpretive analysis of the preindustrial situation, and the ability to illustrate the cultural, political, social, and economic situations of pre-modern era with an accurate explanation of the positions of politics, government, culture, society, individuals, and religion.

A Class of Algorithms for General Instrumental Variable Models

Niki Kilbertus, Matt J. Kusner, Ricardo Silva

Causal treatment effect estimation is a key problem that arises in a variety of real-world settings, from personalized medicine to governmental policy making. There has been a flurry of recent work in machine learning on estimating causal effects when one has access to an instrument. However, to achieve identifiability, they in general require one-size-fits-all assumptions such as an additive error model for the outcome. An alternative is partial identification, which provides bounds on the causal effect. Little exists in terms of bounding methods that can deal with the most general case, where the treatment itself can be continuous. Moreover, bounding methods generally do not allow for a continuum of assumptions on the shape of the causal effect that can smoothly trade off stronger background knowledge for more informative bounds. In this work, we provide a method for causal effect bounding in continuous distributions, leveraging recent advances in gradient-based methods for the optimization of computationally intractable objective functions. We demonstrate on a set of synthetic and real-world data that our bounds capture the causal effect when additive methods fail, providing a useful range of answers compatible with observation as opposed to relying on unwarranted structural assumptions.

Generalized DP-Colorings of Graphs

Alexandr V. Kostochka, Thomas Schweser, Michael Stiebitz

By a graph we mean a finite undirected graph having multiple edges but no loops. Given a graph property $\mathcal{P}$, a $\mathcal{P}$-coloring of a graph $G$ with color set $C$ is a mapping $\f:V(G)\to C$ such that for each color $c\in C$ the subgraph of $G$ induced by the color class $\varphi^{-1}(c)$ belongs to $\mathcal{P}$. The $\mathcal{P}$-chromatic number $χ(G:\mathcal{P})$ of $G$ is the least number $k$ for which $G$ admits an $\mathcal{P}$-coloring with a set of $k$-colors. This coloring concept dates back to the late 1960s and is commonly known as generalized coloring. In the 1980s the $\mathcal{P}$-choice number $χ_\ell(G:\mathcal{P})$ of $G$ was introduced and investigated by several authors. In 2018 Ďvorák and Postle introduced the DP-chromatic number as a natural extension of the choice number. They also remarked that this concept applies to any graph property. This motivated us to investigate the $\mathcal{P}$-DP-chromatic number $χ_{\rm DP}(G:\mathcal{P})$ of $G$. We have $χ(G:\mathcal{P})\leq χ_\ell(G:\mathcal{P})\leq χ_{\rm DP}(G:\mathcal{P})$. In this paper we show that various fundamental coloring results, in particular, the theorems of Brooks, of Gallai, and of Erdős, Rubin and Taylor, have counterparts for the $\mathcal{P}$-DP-chromatic number. Furthermore, we provide a generalization of a result from 2000 about partition of graphs into a fixed number of induced subgraphs with bounded variable degeneracy due to Borodin, Kostochka, and Toft.
