The Evolving Demands and Resources of Live Entertainment: The Development of a Job Demands Resources Sport (JDRS) Model

Janelle Wells, Cheryl Gray, Elizabeth Taylor

Utilizing the job demands resource (JDR) model, as a basis to learn and better understand the workplace experience of employees in live entertainment, we developed a model specific to sport. Through a three-stage process, the scale was measured and validated with collegiate sport employees. The first stage included subject matter experts (n = 69) openly listing job demands and resources in their workplace, then the second stage included two samples of employed graduate students (sample one: n = 101; sample two: n = 112), and finally phase three included two samples of collegiate sport employees (sample one: n = 249; sample two: n = 239). Based on the results, a job demands resources sport (JDRS) model was developed with nine of the 10 job demands relating to burnout, and all seven job resources relating to both work engagement and burnout. Theoretically and practically, the JDRS model will help sport employees and organizations identify opportunities to reduce burnout and increase engagement so they may better serve stakeholders.

The effect of flow experience on reuse intention of mobile navigation apps: The mediating role of location-based mobile service quality

Erdem Ozkan, Bahar Yasin, Aylin Ecem Gursen et al.

This study aims to determine the effect of consumers' flow experience on their intention to reuse mobile navigation apps and reveal the mediating role of location-based mobile service quality in this effect. Data were collected through an online survey of 513 respondents who were actively using mobile navigation apps and analyzed using structural equation modeling and mediation analysis. The results reveal that flow experience affects the intention to reuse mobile navigation apps and that location-based mobile service quality mediates this effect. When the mediating role of location-based service quality was tested, the direct effect of flow experience on reuse intention became insignificant. Information, reliability, and design quality are the most significant dimensions of location-based service quality. Considering the limited number of studies on mobile navigation services, particularly user behavior, this study contributes substantially to services marketing literature. In addition, this study provides insights for practitioners on how to design service proposals and the realization processes of mobile navigation apps.

Effect of 6-week Land-based Plyometric Training versus Regular Basketball Training on Lower Limb Injury Incidence among Basketball Players

Vinodhkumar Ramalingam, Gowri Nivasini, Vinosh Kumar Purushothaman et al.

Background and Purpose Injuries to the lower limbs are prevalent among basketball players, frequently affecting their performance and longevity. Plyometric training has been demonstrated to improve athletic performance. Therefore, this study examines the effects of 6 weeks of land-based plyometric training compared to regular basketball training on player performance and the incidence of lower limb injuries. Material and methods A randomized trial was adopted in which forty basket players (N=40) aged 18-25 were randomized into two groups of 20 each using a simple randomization technique. The subjects of the land-based plyometric training (LBPT) group received a 10-minute warm-up exercise, 40 minutes of land-based plyometric exercise followed by 10 minutes of cooling period, while the regular basketball training (RBT) group received only regular basketball training for 60 minutes. The intervention lasted three days per week for six weeks. To examine the effectiveness of the interventions, three variables were evaluated: participants' speed (Agility T-test), power (Vertical Jump test), and overuse injury (Oslo Sports Trauma Research Center Questionnaire on Health Problems (OSTRC-H) Questionnaire. The Wilcoxon Signed Ranks and Mann-Whitney Test were employed to assess the pre- and post-mean differences within and between the groups. Results There was a significant improvement (p < 0.05) in agility (9.57±0.69) and vertical jump (50.70±3.52), along with a reduction in players' injuries after a 6-week plyometric training compared with regular basketball training. Conclusions Subjects in both LBPT and RBT significantly improved agility and vertical jump performance and reduced the occurrence and severity of lower limb injuries following 6 weeks of training. However, LBPT improves better than RBT in enhancing agility, vertical jump performance, and reducing injury incidence among basketball players.

College Sport Communicator Leaders’ Perceptions of Sport Information Operations

Kelly Elliott

Recent research indicates College Athletic Communicators (CACs) could benefit from more staff in the communication department (Elliott et al., 2023). However the request may not be supported by administration as additional staffing may not fit in the budget. Therefore, it appears imperative to evaluate no-cost options to alleviate the feelings of being under-appreciated and overworked. The College Sport Communicators (CSC) professional association may be a strong advocate for the profession and may have the ability to provide needed resources for those serving in CAC positions. Therefore, the research presented in this study aims to explore the perspective and experiences of CSC leaders to evaluate how to better serve the CAC profession with an understanding of limited resources. In this study, semi-structed interviews with CSC leaders were conducted. Data provided by the participants indicate ways for CACs to avoid burn out and how athletic administrators can work to support the profession.

Azizah Husin, Yosef Yosef, Makmun Raharjo et al.

Facing climate change, universities are expected to contribute. The campus, in this case the Teaching and Education Faculty, wants to contribute through one of the UI metrics pillars, namely the pillars of research and education. The leadership's commitment to realizing a green campus in the pillars of education and research makes Edupark a place for research, education/teaching, community service and practicum outside the classroom. This study aims to analyze the needs of lecturers in implementing a green campus in the pillars of research and education at Edupark FKIP Unsri. The research method uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through Focus Group Discussions. The research subjects were lecturers and laboratory heads of each study program in the Department of Education (PAUD, PGSD, Community Education, and Guidance and Counseling). The results of the study show that currently there is still much that needs to be completed at the Edupark FKIP Unsri as a complete standard of park criteria, including facilities: recreation, sports and outreach, and supporters and centers based on the scientific study program. Thus, research and education activities can be carried out more optimally. It is recommended to the faculty leadership to better adapt the planning process that is being made to the need to carry out research and teaching activities.

THE IMPACT OF EUROPEAN INTEGRATION ON UKRAINE'S SOCIAL SECURITY SYSTEM: THE FINANCIAL COMPONENT

L. Kozarezenko

This article examines the impact of European integration on Ukraine's social protection system, focusing on its financial capacity to provide adequate support to its citizens. It analyses the financing of social protection components in Ukraine. This included articles on rehabilitation and recreation of children with special needs, social protection of persons with disabilities, families and children, support for low-income families, provision of benefits and housing subsidies to citizens, and financial assistance to citizens in difficult circumstances. The study also addressed the issues of financial support for pension payments, bonuses and increases to pensions under pension programmes, as well as the shortfall in the Pension Fund of Ukraine. The paper analyses the role of international donors in financing social expenditures in the second year of the full-scale invasion. Additionally, the study concludes with proposals for reforming the social protection system in Ukraine in the context of European integration. Research methodology. The methodology includes the use of comparative analysis, statistical analysis and generalisation to analyse and draw conclusions based on the research data. Purpose of the study. The European Union (EU) is committed to developing highly competitive social market policies aimed at achieving full employment and social progress. Ukraine, as a candidate country for EU membership, is obliged to ensure the implementation and development of legislation, in particular in the area of social protection of its citizens. Thus, the purpose of this study is to summarise the results of changes in the social protection system of Ukraine that have occurred as a result of active integration with Europe. The publication contains conclusions and recommendations on the necessary future changes to implement European norms and standards in the social protection system in Ukraine. Conclusion. The social security system in Ukraine does not meet the criteria and objectives set by the European community. The eligibility requirements for pensions are relatively low in terms of age and pensionable service, while the pensions themselves are also low, putting many pensioners at risk of financial hardship. This issue is particularly relevant for women, who may receive pensions earlier than men, but still struggle to make ends meet. In addition, it is necessary to reform the system of institutional care and upbringing of children, as well as to focus on a strategy for deinstitutionalising children in residential institutions in the context of social protection. It should be noted that Ukraine has not yet begun preparations for the administration and use of the European Social Fund. The development of scientific and practical tools for reforming Ukraine's social protection system in line with European standards is an important step towards Ukraine's membership in the European Union. This work is crucial to ensure gradual and stable progress towards Ukraine's EU membership.

Liudmyla Shuba, Victoriіa Shuba, Victoriіa Bytsiuk

The purpose of the study is – to develop fitness-technology for 30-35 year old women to increase physical fitness and body sculpt improvement. Material and methods. The study was performed from at the premises of lyceum "Perspektyva", Zaporizhzhia. It was attended by 83 women aged 30-35, who were divided into experimental and control groups. All women were classified in the main medical group. The fitness-technology is combination of theoretical and practical blocks. The fitness-technology was developed for 8 months and consisted of 3 stages: preparatory (duration – 8 weeks, intensity – 40-50% maximal oxygen consumption (MOC), main (duration – 16 weeks, intensity in the range from 50% to 75% MOC) and adaptation (duration 8 weeks, intensity – 75-85% MOC). At the beginning and at the end of the research, all women followed the control tests, which allowed to determine the level of physical fitness and to determine the indicators of their body structure. Results. The highest increase in indicators was in the tests: "Floor dip" control group (CG) increased by 14,29% and experimental group (EG) increased by 24,57%; "Static strength endurance of the shoulder strength" CG increased by 8,00% and EG increased by 21,00%; "Static strength endurance of the back muscles" CG increased by 10,53% and EG increased by 20,05%. "Angled position" CG increased by 25,00% and in the EG increased by 38,33%; "Middle split" CG increased by 18,52% and EG increased by 29,85%. After the introduction of fitness-technology, the indicators "Body Mass Index" decreased in both groups and were able to return to "normal": 24,73 - control group and 22,05 - experimental group. The indicators of the experimental group were better due to the using a block system, which allowed to adjust the fitness technology for each woman on every of the three stages in the fitness-technology. Conclusion. The highest absolute increment of physical fitness indicators in experimental and control groups was found in such motor abilities as flexibility (р<0,01) and strength (р<0,01, р<0,05). The obtained percentage increase in anthropometric measures shows, that for the selected age group we have developed the right fitness-technology for the body sculpt.

Use of technology in improving urban transport

Iva Toš

People must be able to move around to meet their basic needs, but also additional needs that include rest and recreation. The growing trend of urbanization leads to population growth in cities, and thus to an increase in demands on the transport system in cities, with the achievement of sustainable urban mobility as one of the key challenges. Cities worldwide have started to look for solutions which enable transportation linkages, mixed land uses and high-quality services with long – term positive effect on the economy. Today cities are flooded with a range of data, both useful and useless. In that large database, city administration should recognize the importance of processing, analyzing and mathematical-statistical processing. Each city should determine its vision, goals and strategies of transforming itself and developing smart services at basis of collected data and their processing. Future initiatives of a smart city and smart transportation should be focused on creating efficient, environmentally friendly transport, based on interactive solutions for smartphones. There are a lot of applications and technologies that contribute to smart cities. Although technology is evolving every day, there is always room for improvement by using available data, smart management and individual approach to each city, it is possible to achieve an improvement in public transport services, which would also improve the quality of life in urban areas.

Monetary rewards in a tourism organization: A study-case based on an auto-ethnography

Maximiliano E. Korstanje

Jose Maria Marcos, Carme Martínez, Anastasi Perez

T.M. Kravchuk, S.A. Bybel, A.V. Biletska

The purpose - to analyze the compositions of competitive programs for cheerleading on the example of student teams and to identify the features of their structure and content that affect the evaluation of performances. Material and methods. The study involved members of the 9 student teams for the cheerleading of the universities of Kharkov (only 75 people). Research methods: study and analysis of literature, conversations with coaches and athletes, analysis of videos and protocols of competitions, correlation analysis. Results. As a result of the study, the structure and content of the compositions of competitive programs of student teams performing in the category of cheerleading are analyzed. The value of the elements, constructions and reconstructions used in the cheerleading is revealed and their influence on the evaluation of performances is revealed. It is shown that the sum of points received by athletes at competitions depends on saturation of competitive programs with a large number of elements of different structural groups. The constant movement of the team members during the performance in order to create a variety of constructions and movements in them also has a positive impact on the judges, which is expressed in high marks for the composition. The average connection between the performance score and the number of combinations of cheer movements is explained by the fact that these movements are the most accessible of the elements of the cheer dance and their performance does not require special physical training. The weak dependence found between the number of dance combinations and the number of different fragments of the chosen musical accompaniment and the total amount of points for the performance indicates a slight influence of these features of the construction of competitive compositions on the assessment for the performance. Conclusions.. The analysis of competitive programs in cheer leading and the identification of the influence of their main components on the refereeing evaluation made it possible to develop a method of making compositions for student teams in category cheer dance. The technique includes the following stages: selection and arrangement of the phonogram; selection of elements of different groups of difficulties provided by the rules of the competition; selection in accordance with the phonogram of the performance of dance combinations, cheer movements; combination of elements and dance combinations, as well as combinations of cheer movements into separate fragments of the program and the composition as a whole; development of styles of costumes for performances.

The Genesis of Sporting Events as Social Facts: FIFA World Coup South Africa

Maximiliano E. Korstanje

Trips of the Tongue: Turismo idiomático en Barcelona

The use of data collection instruments in Qualitative Research: A study of tourism research papers

Wagner Fernandes Costa, Ana Luiza de Albuquerque Tito, Paula Normandia Moreira Brumatti et al.

Advances in academic studies in tourism, as a multidisciplinary field of knowledge, have revealed new epistemological, theoretical and methodological possibilities for the consolidation of this field of research. In this context, this study presents some peculiarities and trends in qualitative research in this field. This article analyzes the use of data collection instruments in academic papers in tourism completed between 2010 and 2015 for the graduate program in tourism of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). An analysis of seventy master’s degree dissertations, available in the Institution’s repositories, contributed to reflection on the methodological routes taken by the researchers of this program. A preference for the qualitative approach was identified, with the use of a range of data collection instruments, such as semi-structured interviews, documents providing secondary data, and the researchers’ observations. It is believed that the choice of these instruments has furthered a deeper understanding of the tourism phenomenon, ensuring greater methodological rigor in this field of studies. The expansion of this analysis requires new research on papers of other graduate programs in Brazil, as well as more discussions about the adequacy of data collection instruments, objectives, and research methods proposed by academics in the field of tourism.
