Compliance with the mask regime and social distancing during a pandemic in the city: a factor of reducing external control and features of practices

Ignat V. Bogdan, Darya D. Chistyakova, Constantine I. Constantine I. Gabov

Purpose of the study. Identification of the main characteristics of compliance with pandemic restrictions in public places during the easing of restrictions, e.g. the correlation of declarations of commitment to measures and the real behavior of the population. Material and methods. A sociological study was carried out using the method of standardized observation in the city of Moscow on July 15–25, 2020. Observation points in the metro, ground transport, shops of various price categories and shopping centers were selected. More than 16748 observations were made within the quantitative and qualitative stages. Results and discussion. A significant discrepancy (up to 4 times) between the declared adherence to masks (2 Moscow surveys was studied) and the real one was revealed, the possible reasons for this were considered (social desirability, questionnaire features, sampling shift). The approach to the survey data as indicators of adherence rather than behavior merics is proposed. The diversity and polarization of the practices of wearing masks and maintaining social distance — «positive» and «negative», formal and informal are under analysis. Possible factors of this diversity, features of practice in different places are considered. Observation groups are analyzed, both adherent to wearing masks (women, elder persons, migrants) and non-adherent (young adults, middle age men). The practice of situational social «mimicry» is described, when, under the guise of taking care of health, people wanted to get more comfortable travel conditions in transport.

Quantification of Site City Interaction Effects on Responses of Buildings and Basin Under Realistic Earthquake Loading for Development of Economic Smart City

Lav Joshi, J.P. Narayan

Abstract The paper presents the quantification of site-city-interaction (SCI) effects on the responses of buildings of a city and free field motion under realistic earthquake loading for the economic development of a smart city. The state of the art pseudo-dynamic earthquake rupture is implemented in the existing fourth-order viscoelastic staggered-grid SH-wave finite-difference program, and simulated results validated. SH-wave responses of various homogeneous and heterogeneous cities situated on horizontal sediment layer as well as in 2D heterogeneous basins are simulated and analyzed for different dynamic parameters of the buildings. The simulated SCI effects using realistic earthquake loading reveals a reduction of transfer function (TF) of buildings in a wide frequency bandwidth. This finding is conflicting with the reported splitting of bandwidth of the FoSB in the past SCI studies, carried out using simple plane incident wave-front with a single zero-phase wavelet. The obtained largest SCI effects on a building was highly dependent on the building type, city and basin heterogeneity in contrast to the general perception that it should be maximum at centre of city. It is also obtained that SCI effects are always beneficial to buildings when fundamental frequency of building on rock FoSR <1.4FoB( FoB is the fundamental frequency of basin/sediment layer). The obtained reduction of of building of city as well as free field motion due to the effects of SCI corroborates with the past SCI studies. The increase of coupling between the buildings and basin due to an increase of building density causes an increase of SCI effects on the responses of both the buildings and free field motion. The SCI effects in the case of buildings with low damping are beneficial during an earthquake. It is recommended that the smart city should be homogeneous in nature and of buildings should be less than around 1.4 times the of the underlying basin/sediment deposit and buildings should preferably be a steel one.

THE INFLUENCE OF PROMOTION AND PRODUCT QUALITY ON PURCHASE DECISIONS FOR ERAFONE ACCESSORIES IN TANGERANG CITY

Sinta Sulistiani, Ratih Andalusi, Retno Wulansari

This study aims to analyze the influence of promotion and product quality on purchasing decisions for Erafon accessories at Hezal Cellular in Tangerang City. Using a quantitative approach, the research involved 125 respondents selected through probability sampling. Promotion was evaluated through advertising, sales promotion, and direct selling, while product quality was assessed based on performance, reliability, durability, and perceived quality. Purchasing decisions were measured by product choice, brand preference, purchase timing, and purchase quantity. The findings indicate that promotion has a positive and significant impact on purchasing decisions. Product quality also shows a significant positive influence. Combined, promotion and product quality explain 83.8% of the variance in purchasing decisions, highlighting their critical role in consumer behavior. This research concludes that enhancing promotional efforts and ensuring high product quality can significantly improve purchasing decisions. Hezal Cellular is advised to intensify targeted promotional activities and continuously improve product quality to meet consumer expectations and remain competitive in the market.

Shinta Agustina, Zainal Arifin, Bayu Surindra

This study aims to 1) determine the effect of promotional strategies on Yan's Coffee customer satisfaction 2) determine the effect of product quality on Yans's Coffee customer satisfaction. 3) determine the effect of promotional strategies and product quality on Yan's Coffee customer satisfaction. In this study using quantitative methods and quantitative sampling used in this study with random sampling of 86 samples. In the results of this study using the help of SPSS Version 23 with the results that the significance of the variables: 1) promotion strategy is 0.000 <0.05 or t count> t table 3,870> 1,662 which means H0 is rejected, so that the promotion strategy has an influence on customer satisfaction. 2) The meaning of product quality is 0.000> 0.05 or t count 3.520> 1.662, so H0 is rejected, which means that product quality has an influence on customer satisfaction 3) Promotional strategy and product quality simultaneously affect customer satisfaction with a total f of 38.571 significant 0.000, so H0 is rejected, which means that the promotional strategy variable and product quality have a simultaneous influence on the customer satisfaction variable.

Valeriya Nakhod, Anton Krivenko, Tatiana Butkova

Introduction. The article explores current trends in the development of information technologies in healthcare, as well as the problems and needs that can be addressed through their implementation. In conclusion, it emphasizes the necessity of promoting and applying information technologies in the healthcare sector for socio-economic development, improvement of quality, and ensuring universal access to medical services. Purpose. The aim of this analysis was to examine current trends in the development of medical informatics in modern society. The primary focus was on application of information technologies in the healthcare sector, encompassing aspects such as computers, software, electronic medical records, telemedicine, and other innovative technologies. This analysis was focused on identifying current trends, changes, and innovations in the field of medical informatics, as well as understanding the impact of these technologies on the quality and efficiency of medical practice. Materials and Methods. An analysis of Russian and foreign open sources, including peer-reviewed specialized scientific journals, articles obtained from electronic search platforms such as PubMed, Google Scholar, Elibrary.ru, as well as reports from Russian and international analytical companies from 2015 to 2023, was carried out. Results. The conducted analysis reveals challenges and prospects in the development and implementation of information technologies in Russian healthcare sector. Trends and development vectors in the digital technology sector were identified emphasizing the necessity of technology transfer from research to industry, internationalization of developments, creating conditions for attracting foreign investments to Russia, and protecting national strategic sectors.

The Economic Role and Spatial Contradictions of Global City-Regions: The Functional, Cognitive, and Evolutionary Context

Roberto Camagni

Abstract This chapter is concerned with the nature and the role of global city-regions seen in a theoretical perspective, and with the contradictions of their current evolu tionary trends relating to their spatial layout. In our investigation of the role of global cities, we have also dealt with the cognitive dimension. This is a dimen sion not normally included in the geographical approach (which is mainly of a functional character), but being increasingly emphasized in nonconventional economic approaches. It allows us to link the economic role of spaces to the new logic governing decision-making processes under conditions of dynamic uncer tainty. It also makes it possible to take fully into account the strong multiplier effects at work in large global cities, led by the new international information intensive functions, considering not only the traditional agglomeration ad vantages and increasing returns, but also the place/node interaction and the symbolic roles of such cities.
