This paper analyses the possible determinants that induced Silicon Valley and First Republic Bank to Bankruptcy. We employ financial statements for a sample of Banks in line with the business core of Silicon Valley Bank. The period under assessment ranges from 2006-2022. We estimate an indicator of Bank Efficiency using the technique Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). The latter indicator is used as the primary step to analyze failure within sample banks. According to the CAMEL model, macroeconomic variables are non-significant but relevant variables that drive failure were: Bank Efficiency, Capital adequacy, Earning ability, and Liquidity position ratio. Our study is relevant for any policy making to prevent any future bank failure.

The generation of arithmetic sequences involves arithmetic operations. However, is it possible to generate such sequences without being subject to any arithmetic or related operations, all by just hand? The answer may be negative, as the very rule defining these sequences itself relies on arithmetic operations. Nonetheless, this paper presents a few results demonstrating that the exact sequences of $an$, where, $a \in \{ 2,3,\cdots,9,10\}$ and $n \in \mathbb N \cup \{0\}$, can indeed be generated up to any desired number of terms without relying on any arithmetic operations and others derived from such. This is done by the formation of a specialized table that leverages numerical patterns and the notion of concatenation.

In this article, the application of the Multi-Skilled Resource-Constrained Flow Shop Scheduling Problem (MSRC-FSSP) in preventive maintenance as a case study has been investigated. In other words, to complete each maintenance order at each stage, in addition to the machine, a set of required human resources with different skills must be available. According to human resources skills, each of them can perform at least one order or at most N orders, and each maintenance order must be done by a set of human resources with different skills. To carry out a maintenance order, different human resources must be in communication and cooperation so that a preventive maintenance order can be completed. In this article, these resources are considered as technical supervisors, repairmen and maintenance managers who complete all maintenance orders in a flow shop environment as a job. For this problem, a new Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP) model has been formulated with the two-objective functions, minimizing total orders completion time and the human resources idle time. To solve the model on a small scale, CPLEX is used, and to solve it on a large scale, due to the fact that this problem is NP-Hard, a meta-heuristic algorithm named Genetic Algorithm (GA) is presented. Finally, the computational results have been done to validate the model, along with the analysis of the human resources idle time.

In today's rapidly changing economic landscape, financial resilience has become increasingly important especially for public sector organizations. This study investigates the impact of e-government adoption and social support on individuals' financial resilience in Indonesia, with a focus on the mediating role of financial management skills. A quantitative research methodology was employed, and 348 complete and suitable questionnaires from individuals in the financial department in local government in Indonesia were analyzed using SmartPLS 4.0 software. The results indicate a significant relationship between e-government adoption and financial management skills, suggesting that digitizing government services contributes to improved financial resilience. Additionally, social support was found to have a positive impact on financial management skills, supporting the notion that social networks provide resources and support for financial well-being. Financial management skills were also found to be significantly associated with financial resilience, indicating that individuals with strong financial management skills are better equipped to adapt to changing circumstances. While the mediating effect of financial management skills between e-government adoption and financial resilience was not significant, it was significant in the relationship between social support and financial resilience. These findings provide insights into the factors that enhance financial resilience in an increasingly digitized society and inform strategies to promote financial well-being in Indonesia.

De onlangs in werking getreden Europese regels voor bankkapitaal zijn het eindresultaat van een transparant proces waaraan kort na aanvang van de financiële crisis veel partijen hebben bijgedragen. Als gevolg van dit proces heeft Europa het laatste woord over bankkapitaal, niet langer Den Haag. Daarmee is Nederland de zeggenschap over bankkapitaal echter niet kwijt. Belangrijke gremia, waaronder het Bazels Comité, de Europese Commissie en de European Banking Authority geven openheid van zaken en bieden aldus mogelijkheden om beleid te beïnvloeden. De openheid heeft ook bijgedragen aan de financiële stabiliteit. Banken hebben de openheid tijdig benut om hun solvabiliteit te verhogen. Daarnaast heeft de openheid de kabinetsvisie over bankkapitaal beïnvloed, zij het laat en mogelijk zonder effect.
