A Comprehensive Review of Sarcoidosis: From Clinical Manifestations to Management Strategies

Olga Śpiołek, Jan Siwiec, Aleksandra Słowikowska et al.

Introduction and purpose: Sarcoidosis is a complex, multi – system disease characterized by the formation of non – caseating granulomas that can affect nearly every organ in the body, though lungs and lymph nodes are the most commonly involved. The disease's clinical presentation is highly variable, ranging from asymptomatic cases to severe, organ-threatening manifestations, with significant implications for diagnosis and treatment.  The aim of this study is to present current state of knowledge on clinical features, etiology, diagnosis and treatment methods of sarcoidosis.  Materials and methods: The review is based on the analysis of literature available on Pubmed, Google Scholar and UpToDate databases. To search for relevant scientific content the following keywords were used: sarcoidosis, symptoms, etiology, diagnosis, treatment, neurosarcoidosis, cutaneous sarcoidosis, cardiac sarcoidosis, Löfgren syndrome. Conclusions: Despite numerous studies, the cause of sarcoidosis still remains unknown, which leaves a field for researchers for further investigation. Diagnosis of sarcoidosis is challenging, it typically involves histological confirmation through biopsy, supported by imaging studies, laboratory tests and need to exclude other causes. Treatment is limited, focused on alleviating the symptoms and preventing organ failure, therefore further research into more effective or targeted therapies is advisable.

ACUTE EFFECTS OF DIFFERENT INTERVALS BETWEEN REPEATED SPRINTS ON PERFORMANCE RESPONSES IN AMATEUR FUTSAL ATHLETES

Leandro Sant’Ana, Lucas Muniz Carnevalli, Sérgio Machado et al.

ABSTRACT Objective: Verify the influence of different break times between sprints on the performance of amateur futsal athletes. Methods: 10 individuals, men, amateur futsal athletes (Age: 21.5 ± 1.6; Weight: 72.4 ± 6.88; Height: 1.72 ± 0.05; BMI: 24.3 ± 1.2; Fat%: 13.7 ± 3.3, VO2peak: 49.1 ± 10.5) participated in the study. Individuals were randomly selected to perform sessions with sprints (10 sets 20 m) with different pause times of 15 (S15), 30 (S30) and 60 (S60) seconds. For performance analysis, the speed (km / h) applied to each sprint was used and monitored by a device with a photocell (CEFISE Biotecnologia Esportiva®). Results: There was an interaction between speed and interval time (p = 0.000). For condition S15, a greater reduction in performance was observed (p ≤ 0.05), while for S30 and S60, no significant reduction in performance was observed (p > 0.05). The data for the area under the curve showed a significant difference (p = 0.000), where the interval of 60 s (S60) was longer compared to the values of 30 (S30) (p = 0.000) and 15 s (S15) (p = 0.000). However, there were no significant differences between the 30 and 15 s data (p = 0.248). Conclusion: A shorter time (15 s) interval between repeated sprints can significantly affect performance compared to longer breaks (30 and 60 s), but all the conditions tested here can be positive for the improvement of performance, mainly in sports that demand fast and efficient motor actions such as futsal.

The effect of physical activity on body composition and blood lipids after sleeve gastrectomy surgery in adult obese women – A one year longitudinal study

Ulas Can Yıldırım, Oktay Banlı, Mehmet Gülü et al.

Obesity is a global health problem that is increasing in prevalence and poses significant risks to the health of individuals. In recent years, bariatric surgery, especially sleeve gastrectomy, has become a widely adopted approach in the treatment of obesity. However, the role of post-operative physical activity, especially in women, has not been adequately studied. The aim of this study is to compare the body composition and blood lipid levels of adult obese women who do physical activity and those who do not for a year after bariatric surgery. Twenty-one women (PA group / non-PA group) participants with a sedentary lifestyle and a body mass index above 35 were included in the study. The PA group performed regular aerobic exercises, while the non-PA group maintained a sedentary lifestyle. Measurements were made in both groups preoperatively, at 1, 3, 6 and 12 months. The results showed that physical activity has a significant effect on body composition. Regarding blood lipid levels, physical activity contributed to significantly improvements in cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein and triglyceride levels over the 12-month period. However, no significant relationship was found between physical activity and high-density lipoprotein levels. In summary, this study highlights the beneficial effects of physical activity on body composition and some blood lipid parameters in women after sleeve gastrectomy.

A kétváltozós összefüggésvizsgálat eredményei alapján a nem, életkor, élettel való megelégedettség, sportolás gyakorisága, iskolai végzettség, lakóhely típusa, szociális helyzet, szociális státusz szignifikánsan befolyásolja a sportönkéntességben való részvételt (p<0,001).

The influence of age on a postural balance

Ewelina Stefania Pankanin

The physiological and correct posture of a human body is a vertical attitude. A small support surface and relatively high body height cause a small but continuous balance. Maintaining a stable posture requires efficient operation of the balance system. However, with age, the involutionary changes taking place in the body impair its functioning.

The tourist experience: an experience of the frameworks of the tourist experience?

Hécate Vergopoulos

This contribution aims to produce a critical literature review of the recent collaborative works dealing with the notion of tourist experience (Sharpley and Stone, 2012; Filep and Pearce, 2013; Prebensen, Chen and Uysal, 2014; Decroly, 2015). Organized around four questions (what is not/does not produce experience in tourism?, what is the use of the tourist experience?, what is an unsuccessful tourist experience? and can forms of inauthentic experiences exist?), it particularly tries to highlight what these studies, stemming from different disciplines and traditions of research (management sciences, psychology, geography, anthropology, education sciences, etc.) have in common. It also intends to show that through the plurality of approaches emerge zones of friction and tension in the definition of this central notion of tourism. It thus shows that there are today three main approaches to this notion: in a first sense, the tourist experience can be understood as “everything that happens in a tourist situation”. In a second sense, the tourist experience can be conceived as a learning process of the different world and otherness. Finally, within the framework of the third approach, which is highly influenced by management sciences, it becomes a program for consumption for tourist action. This last meaning in particular highlights the fact that the tourist experience thus defined is perhaps less the experience of otherness than the experience of the consumption of another, or, to say it differently, the fact that the tourist experience is maybe ultimately only an experience of the frameworks of tourist consumption.

Aim: The aim of this study was to estimate the effect of a 10-week Nordic Walking exercise program on these parameters. Patients and methods: The subjects were 32 postmenopausal women with overweight or obesity were studied. Before the start of the exercise program and directly after it had finished, blood samples were taken to determine sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium, phosphorus, and capillary gasometry parameters. Results: After the 10-week exercise program, a significant decrease in serum concentrations of sodium, magnesium, calcium, capillary potential of hydrogen (pH), capillary partial pressure of carbon dioxide (pCO2), bicarbonate (HCO3), and base excess (BE), as well as an increase in potassium, chloride, capillary partial pressure of oxygen (pO2), and hemoglobin oxygen saturation  (SaO2) levels was found. The proportional change in sodium serum concentrations correlated significantly with delta BMI, and potassium and calcium proportional alterations after the exercise program had finished correlated with proportional changes in albumin concentration. Conclusions: A 10-week Nordic Walking exercise program resulted in statistically significant changes in almost all serum electrolyte concentration, but only to a small extent and probably without clinical importance. The improvement in oxygen partial pressure in capillary blood after the exercise program shows a potentially complex, favorable effect of a prolonged exercise program and requires further study.     Keywords: Nordic Walking, exercise physiology, physical activity, obesity, aging.

Peculiarities of Motor Abilities Development in 7th-8th-Graders

Ю. В. Мороз

The pupose of the research is to define the peculiarities of motor abilities development in children of middle-school age. Research methods: theoretical analysis and collation of scientific and methodological literature; pedagogical testing; methods of mathematical statistics. To determine the effectiveness of realization of the developmental task of the physical education process at the beginning of the school year (in October 2014) and in March 2015, we tested the level of development of physical qualities in the 7th- and 8th-graders, 25 and 25 graders respectively, 13 of which in each class were boys and 12 — girls. Research results. The analysis of the materials shows that during the school year, the boys of the 7th grade showed reliably increased performance in standing long jumps (speed and strength qualities) — 1.97%, raising the body from the lying position (strength) — 26.46%, bent suspension (strength) — 13.45%. The indicators have insignificantly (unreliably) increased in the shuttle run 3×10 m (agility) — 6.09%, and in body bending from the sitting position (flexibility) — 6.25%. The girls showed reliably increased performance in the level of readiness: flexibility — 12%, strength — 12.09%, speed-strength qualities — 5.27%, agility — 7.77%. The analysis of the materials shows that during the school year the 8th-graders (boys) reliably increased their physical readiness in speed-strength qualities — 0.8%, strength — 15.7%. The indicators of agility increased unreliably — 2.7%, as well as those of flexibility — 8%. The 8th‑graders (girls) reliably improved their indicators in standing long jumps — 2.1%, in bent suspension — 18.8%, raising the body from the lying position in 30 seconds — 17.4%, body bending from the sitting position — 12 5%. The indicators agility improved unreliably — 3.4%. Conclusions. The data obtained are important in solving the pedagogical problems of schoolers’ physical education as decisions of the matters of principle in organization and methods used in physical training classes rest on the ideas about the regularities of the age-related development and the effects of physical exercises.

Religious Events as Special Interest Tourism. A Spanish Experiencev
